"In the heart of Juanita Village, this popular Kirkland stop is bustling from open to close with customers clamoring for signature drinks, like the cardamom vanilla latte and truffle mocha. Fresh baked goods and sandwiches are provided daily by local vendors, and the owners recently opened a second location at the Slater 116 apartments in Totem Lake." - Maggy Lehmicke

Urban Coffee Lounge in the Sailhouse at Juanita feels like a local favorite. We visited on a sunny morning, and the outdoor seating was fully occupied. The baristas were friendly and welcoming, and I appreciated the latte art. You can tell they’re putting in effort to create a great customer experience. I had the mocha—it was decent, could be better. There’s free street parking, though it might be tough to find on weekends. It’s a great spot to grab a drink, stroll through the neighborhood for some window shopping, and walk down to Juanita Beach. A lovely way to spend a morning.

I ordered a latte and it was warm, not hot. Someone else made it for me and said he would make it extra hot, but it was also just warm. I just wanted a hot latte that I could sip at the beginning, but both of their attempts returned one that I could have immediately gulped down. On the plus side, the latte did taste great. The people are really nice and the leaf pattern on the top of the latte was very impressive. They also have a bunch of pastries, but all of their gluten-free options had already sold out when I was there in the early afternoon. I would try other places around nearby before I go back to this place.

This is the best coffee in Juanita, and top 3 in Kirkland. Nice selection of food/sandwiches/pastries, great espresso drinks, and plenty of seating.

Sarah K

Google
Very nice coffee place! Not a fan of coffee but I did get a hot chocolate and they have a lot of alternative milks you can choose from. I also really enjoyed their gluten free pastry option. The marion berry biscuit was delicious. A little bit dry but not bad for gluten free. Not bad prices either. The staff were very nice, I'll be sure to visit more often.

Urban Coffee Lounge has become my favorite spot for a perfect brew and a relaxing atmosphere. The moment you walk in, you’re enveloped by the warm, inviting ambiance. The modern-industrial decor with cozy touches creates the ideal setting for both productivity and unwinding. The staff here are true gems. Always greeting customers with a smile, they go above and beyond to ensure everyone feels welcome. Their knowledge of coffee is impressive, and they’re always happy to recommend something new based on your preferences. Speaking of coffee, it’s simply outstanding. They serve Counter Culture Coffee, and the quality shines through in every cup. Their lattes are consistently smooth and flavorful, and the espresso shots are pulled to perfection. I particularly love their seasonal specialties – they never disappoint! Whether you’re looking for a quiet corner to work, a place to catch up with friends, or just a really great cup of coffee, Urban Coffee Lounge delivers on all fronts. It’s more than just a coffee shop; it’s a community hub where great service, delightful atmosphere, and exceptional coffee come together seamlessly.

Google
I was in the neighborhood and randomly stopped here for a quick coffee. The place looked nice and service was great. They had a nice coffee cup art piece. It was rather busy at around 6 in the evening. I got the Americano with a ham and cheese croissant which was pretty good. My wife took the matcha green tea latte. It was also pretty good.

Google
Super slow service. You will have to wait 10 minutes in line and then 20 minutes to get your coffee ready. I understand it is popular place, but at least have enough space to accommodate demand, so customers can comfortably wait for their coffee. In addition, be aware baristas are rude! On my question when will the coffee be ready, the answer was we are busy and don’t know when it’s going to be ready.

Google
Had a delicious frappe here! Also had a giant chocolate chip cookie that was addicting! The staff is always super friendly, the cafe is always clean and the seating outside is wonderful on a sunny day. Great spot to get coffee and a treat.

Krystyn R.

Yelp
Love that they call themselves a lounge - the vibe certainly fits. It's a cozy space, great for catching up with friends. I decided to try the chai-der from the fall menu. It was warm and delicious, which is exactly what I needed. I also got a bacon and cheddar croissant. It wasn't toasted all the way through, so the bottom was a bit cold but it was still very tasty. If you order food, I'd recommend checking the temp just in case you need to ask them to put it back in. I was just too hungry to worry about it. All in all, great spot. I'll definitely be returning if I'm back in the area.

Yelp
Under new ownership. Completely ruined. 1 star I hate it when this happens. A community classic, a staple, the go-to, the hangout, the corner cafe - ownership changes hands and it's never the same. Urban Coffee Lounge has been a Kirkland favorite since 2012. With its popular Slater and Juanita village locations, UCL won our hearts with handmade syrups and care in every cup. Today, the products are undrinkable, the staff are not familiar and the charm is all but gone.

Yelp
This cafe is surrounded by paid parking, but if you follow the road a little further, there is a street with free parking so you can sit in the cafe and relax without worrying about what time you need to leave, or pay for more time. After that, the cafe is easily accessible, plenty of seating, nice ambiance, not too loud, so I could get my work done. There were plenty of drinks on the menu and food to choose from. What struck me as unusual and exciting is that they have locally brewed Kombucha on tap. That's what I went with. It was pretty mild, but still good.

Yelp
Lovely little coffee shop with amazing seasonal specials (and even alcohol-infused drinks!), ample indoor and outdoor seating, free parking, and free wifi. Easy in-person or mobile ordering through the app "Joe". They even have discounts for first-time mobile orderers (check their website!) I tried their seasonal iced peppermint truffle mocha (oat milk substitute +$0.75). It was so delicious that I demolished it before taking a picture! With chocolate truffle pieces and peppermint chunks, it was the perfect holiday treat. They even have a hot version and a blended version. The other holiday drinks like the eggnog and salted maple also looked amazing, but I can't have that much caffeine in a day! With free wifi, self-serve water, and outlets, I sat and worked on my laptop in the cafe happily for hours. There are clean, gendered restrooms down the hall outside of the coffee shop. The staff were very friendly and mobile order pickup is very easy. Highly recommend checking this place out if you need some caffeine while in Kirkland!

Kumar V.

Yelp
Decent coffee . Wanted caramel flavor but they were out of caramel. Loved the coconut Macaroon.

Allison M.

Yelp
I've been here several times before and have always had a great experience. My visit today has lead to me say that I won't be returning. Apparently the ownership has changed and it's just not what it was - lines are long, they are understaffed, drinks are overpriced, the cool vibe is gone. Such a bummer.

Arilyn B.

Yelp
I used to love Urban--it was my go-to spot for years. The atmosphere was cozy and the staff were friendly and welcoming. It felt like a hidden gem. Unfortunately, over the past few days, everything has changed, and not for the better. The atmosphere, has shifted significantly. It's less cozy and more chaotic. You can tell how overworked and burnt out the staff is. It used to be a place where you could relax and work for hours, but now it feels rushed and uncomfortable. I don't know what happened, but this coffee shop went from a neighborhood favorite to just another disappointing spot. It's heartbreaking because it used to be amazing.

Crystal P.

Yelp
I have been going to Urban Coffee for over 10 years. With the recent change in ownership, the service and the coffee has gone down hill. None of the barista team is welcoming or particularly polite. The fact that they don't have enough staff to keep the store open past 4:00 is indicative of some real problems. I am going across the street to Starbucks now because the drinks are consistent and the baristas are super friendly.

Susan M.

Yelp
Service is friendly, helpful; tea was loose leaf and tasty as recommended by the server, other drinks I've had were good in the past; ambiance is warm, various tables and chair arrangements outside and inside were well-placed and inviting. Pastries available. A Kirkland gem!

Valerie M.

Yelp
Amazing place to sit. The furniture is sure to keep your stay to under 5 minutes. A backrest that is pushing you forward. A cute couch with a backrest big enough for a small animal. There are a couple of tables and chairs but they are guarded carefully. Marvels in architechtural design. Coffee good. Gotta go. Five minutes is up.

Magdalene M.

Yelp
I came here on a Saturday morning and there was no line. My boyfriend's mocha could've been chocolatier but we liked that it wasn't too sweet, and my latte with sugar-free hazelnut syrup was delicious. My half breakfast sandwich with turkey, cheddar, and egg on sourdough was basic but perfect for a walk around Greenlake. The only thing that will keep me from becoming a regular here is the disgusting state of the bathroom.

Palak G.

Yelp
We got the coffee cake (couldn't taste the coffee in it), Caramel Latte (more milk than to my liking) and a Peppermint Latte (good). Small cozy place in Kirkland, good for a chit chat /coffee date.. follow it by walking to the Juanita Beach Park..good winter date setting! We were served quickly and could find a space to sit as well (considering it was a weekend)

Nicole L.

Yelp
Great place to grab a coffee/tea or some food! Good spot to sit and work on your laptop too. I love that this coffee shop opens early. I believe they open at 6:30am M-F. Their pistachio croissant is soooo good! I've never tasted anything like it. If you're adventurous and wanting to try something special, you have to give it a try. I promise you it's worth it. I'm a fan of London fog tea and they do it really well. During the holiday, they make mulled wine (haven't tried but seen this on the menu). Service can sometimes be a little slow if it's busy but that's expected.

Evie M.

Yelp
The owner of this shop has very little respect for employees. The shop itself is wonderful regarding food and environment, but the negativity the owner brings is extremely toxic. Sadly, i can't support a business with this kind of management. Hoping things get better in the future, or a new owner comes around who treats their employees as humans.

Veronica K.

Yelp
Really great coffee! I came during fall and tried their seasonal pumpkin pie latte, which is made with pumpkin puree and homemade syrups. It was very rich and tasted like pumpkin pie filling in the best way. The staff was friendly and greeted me when I arrived. The place was very busy, which made finding a seat a bit difficult, but I was able to find a chair after a couple minutes of waiting. The price was pretty expensive, around $9 for a coffee after a tip and adding oat milk, but they do make their syrups homemade and the coffee quality is great. But still an expensive latte. Overall a really great and cozy place to get some work done and have a unique, seasonal coffee drink.

Chelsea B.

Yelp
Went for the famous pumpkin pie latte! It's the season! This place had lots of seating indoors and outdoors. Staff was friendly. We wanted to drink our coffee at the tables and thought we'd get proper drink ware, but instead we got paper cups. It was fine because then we were able to leave with our drinks. There's plenty of parking for 2 hours free of charge. I'll be back to try some of the other seasonal drinks they offer.

Courtney N.

Yelp
Owners just sold and now the coffee tastes horrible (though they say they haven't changed it something is most definitely different), also just now I went in to get a coffee and 3 people behind the bar, each of them staring around twiddling their thumbs waiting for the other person to make the coffee. They all just kept looking at each other with a blank stare on their face with not a care in the world, didn't put any of the vanilla in my coffee that I asked for and it took them no less than 10 mins to make me one latte smh, hopefully this changes soon

Lana B.

Yelp
honestly this has to be my FAVORITE cafe right now!! for starters i love their drinks, their seasonal menu always hits the spot. not only that but the atmosphere is great. it's always nice and cozy and a great place to study at! 10/10 would recommend :)

Asher J.

Yelp
Delicious cappuccino breve and Cortados, wouldn't opt for the London fogs here. Quick services, extremely dog friendly

Dean S.

Yelp
Ooh, pay to park now. Luckily I didn't get a ticket. Great coffee, good location but I wont be back

Jessica M.

Yelp
I love living so close to this coffee shop! It's way cozy and the food is awesome and the lattes are uniquely special. I tend to get the sausage omelette breakfast sandwich and the cardamom vanilla latte. You can't go wrong! Lots of outdoor seating!

Lee H.

Yelp
An update to my previous review: they fixed the air conditioning! Hallelujah! I love this place -- I hope it stays in ship-shape as it currently is.

John M.

Yelp
Finally came to this coffee spot. I had learned of them when visiting their Kirkland space (now known as Visible) which was acquired by another coffee shop. We got our customary soy chai latte and a cup of coffee. We added a Morning Glory muffin (a favorite of mine) to our order. It was all very good and delicious. Coffee was what you want from a cup of joe. Smooth and comforting. The chai wasn't "spicy" enough. But that comes with more visits and "adjustments". Recommend? Yes I recommend.

AJ M.

Yelp
Man, I really like this place, but they've got to work something out with the building across the street, Parking around here is tight, and I got a $60 parking ticket for being parked for what I would guess was about 2 1/2 minutes. I'm certainly not going to pay for an hour of parking every time I want to get coffee on my way to work. Seems like they should have something to the tune of 10 minutes free parking if they care at all about their neighborhood business staying in business.

Rabab I.

Yelp
As someone who's been to many cafes, this is my favorite coffee spot! The cafe itself has such a cozy vibe, it's perfect for studying/work or even for a date. They also have outdoor seating which is really nice for sunny days. They have seasonal flavors so I love coming every month to try. So far, every single seasonal flavor has been delicious. The truffle mocha is such a rich and smooth flavor, probably the best mocha I've ever had. I would highly recommend to anyone who's a coffee lover to try it! They also have solid food options for both vegetarians and non vegetarians.

zeedashbo

Yelp
Coffee and matcha are consistently good. The service is consistently bad. I've given the place at least 10 visits in the past 2 years and as good as the matcha is I doubt I will be going back

Pauline L.

Yelp
Such a lovely, cool, real "neighborhood" coffee shop. The workers are always so friendly when you enter and they make such quality beautiful espresso drinks. I have so much to say about all the things I love here. Let's start with... the food and drink! Quite the variety of drinks that they serve: espresso to lattes to shakeratos to matcha and chai teas to even alcoholic drinks. When you get a drink for dine in, they give you delicious little chocolate covered espresso beans as a little treat to go along with it. You can ask them to adjust sweetness and other aspects of your drink to a T. They carefully select food from quality local vendors. Everything looks so enticing and prices are reasonable. Quiches, burritos, scones, cookies, rice Krispy bars, muffins, sweet bread, bagels. And they even have versions for those following gluten free or vegan diets. Their outdoor patio is dog friendly and perfectly placed to capture all the sun in the afternoon. They always have filled water bowls for the dogs that hang out or walk by. Every weekday afternoon they have a happy hour with discounts on alcohol and on Wednesdays half off bottles of wine. Love that they open late. Love that you can order on Joe coffee and they have promos on there every now and then. Love the art featured inside. Just much love for this place. Come by. Make this your new "third place."

Andrew T.

Yelp
Cute little coffee spot right by Juanita Beach Park. They have great seasonal options and some local cookies by crafted. Not too much workspace on the inside but there are outlets and a nice patio for when it's not raining

Anand N.

Yelp
We were visiting the Juanita Bay Park when we decided to checkout a new coffee place. Urban coffee lounge sounded interesting so we decided to drop by. The coffee shop is a short walk from the park, so if you can't find parking, you can park there instead. Ordered the Cardamom Vanilla Latte. It tasted good, just the right amount of sweet. The cardamom taste wasn't noticeable though, so I might try other drinks next time. I didn't know the shop has a rewards system, so the employees could let customers know. Prices are reasonable, little lower than Starbucks

Jennifer J.

Yelp
I was in Juanita yesterday and needed (1) caffeine and (2) a laptop-friendly place to get a little work done. Another Yelper had recommended Urban Coffee Lounge and it turned out they were just around the corner - yay. The day was sunny and warm, so I grabbed an iced coconut latte with oat milk to quench my thirst while simultaneously fulfilling my need for a PNW-style mid-day energy burst. This coffee delivered on both fronts. First, I've never had a coconut latte before. It just sounded good, and "kinda" tropical, so I figured why not. I'm SO glad I did! It was creamy, smooth and delicious, with just the right balance of coffee and coconut without being too overwhelming in either direction. I'm embarrassed to say how quickly I slurped it down. In fact, I considered going back for another! Huge shoutout, too, to the fabulous Austin who made my drink. He was so friendly and outgoing, really made me want to go back and become a regular at this place. Oh and bonus that they have fantastic outdoor seating!

Brendan c.

Yelp
Not Urban, okay Coffee, and not sure how it's a lounge. The best thing going for this place is the location and space. With 4 people behind the counter, they still take 10 minutes to make a drink. I felt bad for the guy who had to wait in line for 13 minutes to get a coffee refill. The cappuccino was okay. Avoid the pastries and cookies. The cookies are undercooked and for a cookie that includes the word Strawberry in the title you would expect to taste strawberry. As for the empanadas, they aren't empanadas. I was also annoyed to not get the one I order and the staff were unhelpful.

Jamie L.

Yelp
Good cappuccino that came out hot and fairly quickly. Manu only shows one size option but you can get in a small, medium or large! They assumed To Go but pivoted to a ceramic mug without fuss when we said we wanted "for here." Didn't warm (or offer) the raspberry crumble. Nice inside atmosphere and outside seating available too

Maddie E.

Yelp
Used to love this place but they have a ton of newer employees who are rude. Was interrupted while trying to order and he seemed annoyed when I took out cash to pay with. My order came out quicker than other people who were waiting for 10+ minutes and parking where you used to be able to park for free you now have to pay.

Yumi R.

Yelp
We loved the little space this cute but popular coffee shop nestled. We wanted to try something different so we stopped in for coffee and light breakfast. I got their drip coffee and it was good, not bitter at all. Hubby got their iced coffee and enjoyed it too. I grabbed a yogurt and this is my introduction to Ellenos... I'm a huge fan and in love with that yogurt now. My hubby got a croissant which was nice and soft. The shop had a buzz off people in and out. We loved it.

Madelyn S.

Yelp
I waited 25 minutes for a latte, extremely loud shop, staff were not friendly to each other, which I understand in stressful times. The latte was mid I would have taken starbucks from across the street over the wait :/

Lydia P.

Yelp
Love this coffee shop! Modern design, cozy seating, and if it's too late into the day for coffee, they also serve lovely Bellinis!

Wendy F.

Yelp
I met a friend here and hadn't visited for awhile. She had cider and I had the cold brew. I was so impressed with the taste that I intend to come again. I think they have something to join up.

Sarah M.

Yelp
I visited on a Sunday afternoon, lots of parking available and there was no line. I got a iced caramel latte, which itself was just alright. What left a bad impression, was the fact they don't accept cash... oh but don't worry, they still accept cash tips. Make that make sense.

Katie M.

Yelp
I'm sure the coffee is great! I went for wine and the wine they had wasn't my vibe but it was still fun to sit and read!

Arianna L.

Yelp
Ugh and Amazing place for coffee it's moment like this that I'm so happy to have yelp because I wouldn't have known it existed! The pumpkin pie latte is the best pumpkin coffee I've ever tasted!

Lisa C.

Yelp
I love Kirkland because you get a light downtown vibe but there's usually parking available. Urban Coffee lounge is no exception. Cute medium-sized place with a decent amount of sitting, complete with a raised table for some people watching outside. There's a big selection of pastries and sweets as well as a great selection of drink options. I opted for the hot raspberry truffle and the raspberry oat bar. Delicious. Good place to bring a friend.

Susan C.

Yelp
Small cafe in the Juanita district of Kirkland. Just met a friend for a quick latte. It was excellent and fast. The cozy seating was comfy and with not too many people Inside felt very safe. There is also plenty of outdoor seating.

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Have not been here since we moved out of WA. I was so excited to have good coffee again. We went here weekly if not daily since they opened. Unfortunately, there was no decaf. I was told the decaf machine was not working. Never heard of a decaf machine. I thought it was just decaffeinated beans. I was never offered an alternative caffeine free options for a drink. Never been disappointed with this place until this visit. My partner happily enjoyed a Mocha while I sadly watched.

Michelle N.

Yelp
Very interesting how busy this place can be even with a Starbucks literally across the street. Has great decor and friendly service. Food is bland and they do not carry hot sauce for extra seasoning. Has a diverse set of coffee drinks. Has indoor and outdoor seating.

Marie B.

Yelp
Completed a cathartic sennin-so shiatsu session and needed a boost, so thanks to Yelp decided to check out Urban Coffee Lounge (12/8/19). Juanita Village has grown and feels like an insta mini community / urban village without feeling like a soulless mixed use strip mall. Very busy at this indie coffee shop, ahem pardon, lounge. I like the vibe with the live actual convo crowd outnumbering the laptop patrons. From the welcoming guy at the register stand to the female barista with a million dollar smile...no snotty, faux hipster attitude here. The holiday tunes, wood tones, art work, plants, light fixtures, and natural light from large windows felt just right. It felt good to be amongst humanity here. My 16 oz mocha was spot on delicious, beautiful latte art, creamy, hot, balanced. And there shortbread half was as expected being McTavish. The chocolate half will be for The Homie. When I inquired, turns out they have been in business this coming February 2020 for 11 years. Obviously, I have been under a rock. Very nice to discover a well established indie spot, Urban Coffee Lounge in Juanita Village!

Kriti A.

Yelp
I am on a coffee spree these days and so glad I checked this out in my neighborhood. This is not just a coffee lounge, they even serve alcohol and have happy hours. On my latest visit, I tried the cardamom vanilla latte and cappuccino. The cardamom vanilla latte was something!!! It tasted way better than honey lattes and the latte art was amazing! Too bad I went with a short cup. I am 100% going back for more!!

J S.

Yelp
Came in for a quick coffee and some work. A few things made this a tough experience - 1) The WiFi stopped working and the staff seemed to have a hard time bringing it back up, which also disabled the POS system 2) The coffee was OK but I must have caught the drip pot between brews, so I got 8oz when paid for 16 and the big kicker was that I parked across the store in the first spot past the intersection, and was given a $60 parking violation. There was no signage on the spot, the building or the neighboring spots to the left. The building owner/parking company is doing predatory ticketing, with a person continuously walking the block to issue non-payment violations, regardless of the lack of visibility. I'd recommend the staff inform guests on arrival and the owners to raise an issue with the property management.

Elizabeth E.

Yelp
My favorite coffee spot in Kirkland! Everything is good, and they have a large variety of pastries, sandwiches, etc. in addition to kombucha on tap and even some alcoholic drinks. Best holiday drink around-the pumpkin pie latte...you'll never go to Starbucks again

Susie C.

Yelp
I don't make it to Kirkland very often, but when I do, Urban Coffee Lounge is one of the spots I frequent. I really enjoy their coffee. Like most top-tier spots in Seattle, they have a great menu of classic options and fun creative drinks. I've only gotten Americanos here, but they are delicious. I've seen other people's lattes and the technique is top notch. I have full confidence any drink here is delicious. What sets this spot apart in my mind is their wide array of local baked goods and foods. They have items from many larger spots like Macrina and Blazing Bagels but also smaller spots like Rila Bakery. Last time I went I got a pistachio croissant (from Rila) and was really impressed.
