The real scoop: "Farm to Fire to Table" made me think this was fresh food, and based on the pictures (apparently primarily management posts), thought it looked good. After debating where to go, we selected this place. The moment I saw the coffee in big help-yourself jugs next to the creamer tubes and sugar packets, we should have canceled our order and walked out. Instead, we waited for our food -- a Sunshine Sandwich.
For starters, the Sandwich was barely even a sandwich. The very lighted toasted, cheap, white bread (what good "Farm" restaurant still serves nasty white bread?!) was cold and soggy. Inside, a thin slice of cheese, a tablespoon of avo, couple thin slices of tomato, and not even a whole egg...I'd have to ask, "where's the egg"?, reminiscent of the old Wendy's commercial about beef... The sandwich as a whole was cold, since the bread was not properly toasted, and the hot, fresh egg practically nonexistent, and served with Heinz ketchup IN PACKETS!! SO not fresh...
As a side, I ordered hash browns. What I got were chunks of red potato. Newsflash...those are not hash browns, and I would not have ordered it if I had known. The potatoes were tasteless and covered in so much grease I had to dump tons of pepper and my bowl had pools of grease all over the bottom.
Since this place is close to Vanderbilt, maybe the students don't mind. But I was SO HUNGRY, and despite that, I thought this food was terrible and wished I had just eaten the crap the hotel served. Wish I had read a real review first.
We ate delicious, gourmet food all over town, so am truly sad to have left Nashville with this as our last meal. Midtown Cafe is a block over and was phenomenal a few days earlier, and Tavern is right across the street -- go there and skip this place...
