Where to Order Delivery in Nashville, According to a Country Singer | Eater

"This counter-service sandwich spot manages to deliver on both speed and variety. Walls’ order is the turkey crunch sandwich (smoked turkey, slaw, tomato, provolone, and sweet-hot mustard on multigrain bread) with a side of fresh fruit." - Rebecca Strassberg

Worth it! There were 12 of us in our party and everyone cleaned their plates. I had the Balt and and it was the freshest sandwich I've had for a really long time! Will eat here again next visit !! DO NOT SLEEP ON THEM!!!

Google
Food came out very quick and was the perfect light lunch food for a day on the trolley. Most polite staff I've ever met in a restaurant

The owner was super friendly and very attentive! I love how the food is locally sourced. Service was fast, too.

This is a nashville favorite for us. Every time we are in town, we make a stop here. The food is always delicious and fresh. To be fair, we all have the same standing order, but it's because it's so good that no one wants to stray. My family of 4 always gets the lime marinated steak and rice. I love that it comes with a salad. The salad is always fresh and ice cold. The steak and rice is always fresh and hot. It's flavorful and so yummy. We also always get an orange roll on the side. Sometimes some for the road. :) We got a pancake this time because we happend to come when they were serving them. Everything was chefs kiss! Molly(I believe) who helped us was very sweet and had good conversation with her. She helped us with the parking validation, which was helpful. I wish we had a location in Knoxville because I would eat here all the time if it were closer. If you are in Nashville you should definitely come to eat here.

Stopped by for a late Sunday lunch. I was a little worried as there was only 1 other party there, but it was an odd time. Walked in and was immediately and warmly greeted. She explained their menu and made some recommendations. I liked the salad and sandwich options as they had the same ingredients, just in another form. Ordered the Local Mix salad and the Berry Good wrap. Salad came out after about 5 minutes, but the wrap took about 20 minutes. It wasn't crowded, so I think they forgot, but it was an honest mistake as overall service was great. To make up for the wait, the server brought out a little brownie which was a good gesture for the wait. Both the wrap and salad were really good. They were put together well and full of fresh & local ingredients. Great way to support the local farmers. Good place to come for fresh food that supports the local community.

Excellent lunch spot. Ordered the steak and rice entrée and it was exceptional. Staff was very friendly as well.

Google
100% Delicious! Been here a few times now and never fails to be amazing. Good menu with super fresh ingredients, the staff is always friendly and great serving size for the price. You can't go wrong with the Berry Salad or the Turkey Crunch Sandwich. They even have a Grilled Peanut Butter Fluff Sandwich (Fluffernutter).

Google
DO. NOT. MISS!! I can't say enough great things about Urban Cookhouse. The food is utterly out of this world, and they have incredible options whether you're a meat lover or vegan and gluten-free! Their brisket sliders are so amazing, I got two orders, and their house BBQ sauce is what Nashville is all about! But wait, there's more! The staff are just some of the sweetest, loveliest people you'll find anywhere. They are every bit as much of the winning charm at Urban Cookhouse as the food. Treat yourself!

Yelp
A true hidden gem in downtown Nashville! We stumbled upon Urban Cookhouse on our first visit, and what a find! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by Leah, the owner, who went above and beyond to make our experience special. She took the time to personalize our visit, explain the menu, and made us feel like longtime regulars. The food? Absolutely excellent. Fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection -- you can really taste the care in every bite. Whether you're local or just visiting Nashville, this place deserves a spot on your must-try list. We even had a surprise to take home; their signature orange rolls!!! We'll definitely be back. Thank you, Leah, for making our first time so memorable!

Yelp
Favorite lunch spot, great food, awesome customer service! Friday brunch menu is A+, loved the steak and egg burrito

Yelp
We got takeout from here one day at random and I am still dreaming of the chicken salad!!! The Berry good salad with chicken salad is now one of my favorite salads I've tried, the portion was HUGE and all the ingredients were so fresh. We also shared the buffalo chicken wrap app and it was also amazing. I cannot wait to try this place in person soon!

Yelp
Very friendly staff. Grilled Shrimp Kabobs & side salad was delightful. Would highly recommend!

Yelp
Great find if you want choices that will please everyone! The food is delicious and freshly made from scratch. The perfect stop because I was craving a fresh salad and my husband wanted steak. The crispy, fresh vegetables and homemade dressing made me think they had a vegetable garden off to the side. My husband's steak was flavorful, and he said he'd order it every time if we weren't passing through. The real standout, and why I'm leaving this review, is Molly, a gem, and the chefs in the back. I'm sorry I didn't get the chef's name who helped us in the beginning. The service and friendliness were so appreciated. The atmosphere is open, casual, and comfortable. We walked in scruffy after a long day on the road and felt comfortable.

Yelp
We had just gotten in town and check in to our hotel. Urban Cookhouse was close to our hotel and seems to have good reviews here. When you walk in you order at the counter. The woman at the counter was patient as we read the menu. The food arrived quickly but the sandwich wasn't warm. The mac and cheese was delicious, I wish there would have been more! Overall, we weren't impressed with the food. It wasn't super flavorful but the portion was good.

Yelp
The steak and rice with salad was excellent. The steak was cooked great and was not greasy at all. It was the perfect meal to feel energized and fueled up before hitting broadway. Philip and the whole staff was friendly. The restaurant was cute but could use some updating. definitely recommend steak and rice and was $17 which I thought was a fair price.

Krystal P.

Yelp
The food was fantastic! Everything was fresh and absolutely delicious! Staff were incredibly friendly as soon as we walked through the door. We loved the patio option as well as the relaxed vibe inside. Definitely recommend!!!

Yelp
Delicious food. Wonderful customer service. Great atmosphere. We would definitely come back!

Yelp
Not as good as ones in Birmingham. Seemed understaffed which is an issue for lots of restaurants now. Cashier seemed more interested in to go orders than taking orders for inside. Not sure how it's smoked now but Turkey looks more like what you would see on a salad bar than a $16 salad. Could just be a difference with the BHM locations. Dressings are still tasty but I was just underwhelmed with my experience on a random Thursday when they opened. It is nice they validate parking- not everyone does in that area.

Yelp
we had a rep bring us lunch from their today. When the rep brought our food, I couldn't eat mine. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with side salad, no aioli add mayo and ex ranch. There was no mayo, sandwich had no taste and the ranch was like water, no ex ranch, went straight to the bottom cuz it was so thin. was cold and had griddle in it. So we won't be ordering from here again.

Yelp
Urban Cookhouse is a casual eatery sitting in the heart of Midtown with quick/counter order service that serves Americana style food with a highlight on their sandwiches and wraps, however they do serve appetizers, dinner plates, salads and even brunch. Additionally, they do feature alcohol with select beers, wines and cocktails. UC is a small chain with most of their locations being in Alabama, this Nashville location is the only one in Tennessee currently. Parking - Free during certain times, 10:00 AM - 8:30 PM and outside of those hours you can scan to pay or use the pay station. Parking is $11 during those hours. We came this way for lunch as we waiting on our nearby hotel room to become ready. We walked in from the back, passing the cute Dolly mural and circled to the register/ordering counter. The menu hangs above the register for your to study in the event you don't know what you want just yet. After we scoped it out we quickly saw a few things to grab. I got the White BBQ sandwich, which was a chicken sandwich with housemade white sauce, cheese and bacon. My partner got a wrap, the Buffalo Chicken which came in four pieces and featured grilled chicken, buffalo sauce and cheese. Both of us sided our sandwich/wraps with their fresh fruit. For both of us the sandwiches were just ok. The chicken on the White BBQ was dry and chewy for me and the buffalo chicken was not very buffalo-y, which made it a dry wrap. Additionally, the fruit was not as fresh as expected, as the apple pieces were mushy and off-putting. Not the best showing for a place we had higher hopes for. Seating was great as you had booths and tables, along with bar seating inside and then you had the great covered patio! We landed on the patio and it was perfection! They gave us a number for our order and each table is fitted with a wooden block to display your number. It did not take long before our food hit the table via one of the runners. Overall, Urban Cookhouse was just ok for us. I can see myself coming back for a casual lunch now that I know what to expect.

Yelp
One of the best lunch spots in Midtown! The steak and rice meal is delicious, the lemonade is great, and the sandwiches are to die for! If you're looking for a unique spot for lunch to enjoy a wide array of different options, come to Urban Cookhouse!!!

Yelp
Yikes! This restaurant just isn't good at all. One of their signature recipes, prevalent in many dishes on the menu, is their pulled pork. What a shame. In a city famous for its barbecue, this is easily the worst barbecue in town by a long shot! The pork tacos featuring this alleged barbecue pork are accompanied by bitter-tasting onions and a decent slaw. With so many great taco places in Nashville, this mediocre attempt simply does not measure up. The El Cubano sandwich looks really good on paper, especially with Vandy students unquestionably inflating the ratings leading to high expectations. And then you eat it. Piles and piles of this horrendous pork sit between ordinary, plain white bread. I guess using the traditional Cuban bread was out of the question? The sandwich features other lackluster deli meats and cheeses and was nearly unpalatable. The cheddar pasta side dish wasn't spectacular, but it was probably the best thing I had. By that, I mean it was tolerable. At least they used real cheese and not the dreaded orange cheese sauce. So yeah, just avoid Urban Cookhouse altogether.

Yelp
This location is nowhere near up to par with the locations in Birmingham and Tuscaloosa. Portion sizes are much smaller, prices are higher. Lime marinated steak is supposed to be cooked medium per menu, but was cooked so well done I couldn't chew it. Received four slices of the steak, looked like a kid's meal. Two pieces of my to go order were missing. For $15ish dollars per entree I really expect more food.

Yelp
Leah (the owner) and her team are kind and easy to work with--even on short notice. And they always deliver my catering order on time and everyone in the office loves it! The chicken and the berry salad are favorites--and the orange rolls are the #1 choice for all. It's tasty, inexpensive, and a great choice for my numerous catering needs (in this case it's a customer with 50 meal attendees).

Yelp
Pretty bland and unseasoned. My Cuban sandwich was cold and the cheese wasn't melted or even warmed.
google avatar

Yelp
We came here on a Tuesday night and the place was completely empty. We ordered at the counter and then found a place to seat at one of the indoor tables (there are also covered outdoor tables). The young lady working the cashier was very friendly and helpful at narrowing down our menu options. The menu is very vast so it was a bit overwhelming. I ended up ordering the chicken salad but the quesadilla and shrimp skewers also sounded good. The chicken salad hit the spot and the fruit was very fresh. It also came with an orange roll that sweet but pretty dry.

Yelp
There are plenty of places in Nashville that have better food and service for the same price. I'm not sure why this place has such good reviews.

Caroline W.

Yelp
The food is so good every time. The workers are so nice. Quick and easy, I love everything on the menu
google avatar

Jackie F.

Yelp
We weren't sure what to expect, but we ordered breakfast and I loved how it wasn't greasy at all. When you walk in, its not clear what to do, do you seat yourself, do you order at the counter? After finding a worker, we were told its like a chipotle, you order at the counter, get a card with a number on it and they bring it to you. We went outside and found a table to clean ourself, and waited for the food. We got: Bloody Mary's - Pretty good, but even better after adding a lot of water to it, it needed to be diluted. Sunny side sandwich - he liked it a lot Side of potatoes - Blah Veggie quesadilla with a side of scrambled eggs - I really liked the quesadilla on a whole wheat tortilla with the veggies but the egg was well-done brown haha I've never seen that! (See pic) It was almost $60 for all of that. We won't be back.

Yelp
Super Dece. I've eaten at all the restaurants on the Division street stretch. This is a chain, but also probably the most average food on this strip. Would recommend going to Donato's beside it before going here.
google avatar

Megan G.

Yelp
I've actually never been inside the restaurant, but I probably order delivery from here once or twice a week. There is just nothing else like this place in Nashville. Everything is super clean, and finding healthy, lean options is incredibly easy with their menu. I love their honey mustard dressing... so, so much. Honestly, my delivery orders are never wrong, and when I have called the restaurant to ask them a question, they have always been uber helpful. I always get the chicken plate, but their veggie quesadilla is delectable. There little rolls are too heavenly, and I would suggest the vegetable soup too.

Kate M.

Yelp
Ordered for corporate catering thru excater. This lunch was the highlight of our catering. Food was delicious and fresh. Cookies were perfection. Only complaint I had was people looking for seconds. Spoke with the owner and was really happy our event went with a local spot for catering. HIGHLY recommend to anyone.

Yelp
Everything costs an arm and a leg. Half an orange slide, 2 grapes, and a couple chunks of melon costs $4. Food is mid. The guy at the counter was cranky. Good music.
google avatar

Kelly V.

Yelp
Good food at a good price! Lots of healthy options. Would recommend the shrimp kabobs, which were marinated deliciously. Friendly service :)

Yelp
The food here is so amazing! I loved being able to sit outside and enjoy the weather as well! Highly recommend!! **Bonus** Before you leave get some cute pictures with the Dolly Parton mural out back :)

Yelp
Our team rented this place out for dinner and the food was good. They got us trays of different meats and vegetables. Everything was good, but it did not amaze me. The ambiance was interesting and it was fairly bare inside and out. The workers were nice but not very active or energetic. Definitely not bad, but there are so many other amazing places in Nashville with great food, ambiance and service. I would like to try the actual menu items. It sounds like their sandwiches and main meals are very well prepared. The place was also clean and accommodated all of us with enough food.

Yelp
The real scoop: "Farm to Fire to Table" made me think this was fresh food, and based on the pictures (apparently primarily management posts), thought it looked good. After debating where to go, we selected this place. The moment I saw the coffee in big help-yourself jugs next to the creamer tubes and sugar packets, we should have canceled our order and walked out. Instead, we waited for our food -- a Sunshine Sandwich. For starters, the Sandwich was barely even a sandwich. The very lighted toasted, cheap, white bread (what good "Farm" restaurant still serves nasty white bread?!) was cold and soggy. Inside, a thin slice of cheese, a tablespoon of avo, couple thin slices of tomato, and not even a whole egg...I'd have to ask, "where's the egg"?, reminiscent of the old Wendy's commercial about beef... The sandwich as a whole was cold, since the bread was not properly toasted, and the hot, fresh egg practically nonexistent, and served with Heinz ketchup IN PACKETS!! SO not fresh... As a side, I ordered hash browns. What I got were chunks of red potato. Newsflash...those are not hash browns, and I would not have ordered it if I had known. The potatoes were tasteless and covered in so much grease I had to dump tons of pepper and my bowl had pools of grease all over the bottom. Since this place is close to Vanderbilt, maybe the students don't mind. But I was SO HUNGRY, and despite that, I thought this food was terrible and wished I had just eaten the crap the hotel served. Wish I had read a real review first. We ate delicious, gourmet food all over town, so am truly sad to have left Nashville with this as our last meal. Midtown Cafe is a block over and was phenomenal a few days earlier, and Tavern is right across the street -- go there and skip this place...

Martha M.

Yelp
Great food, convenient. Nice atmosphere and reasonably priced. Try the chicken super.
google avatar

LOU F.

Yelp
Everything here is a bit better than you expect, goes well with a beer, and it's thankfully open when I'm hungry. The salads, sandwiches all have the flavor of being prepared with good sources of ingredients. I had the pork pulled tacos with cabbage on top and wow such flavor and so much food...and that was an appetizer.

Yelp
We found this great little spot close to our hotel while staying in Nashville for a conference my husband and daughter were attending. So glad we stopped in. The service and food were both excellent and we will absolutely be back the next time we're in town. .

Yelp
We happened upon Urban Cookhouse the other night when we were in the neighborhood and the restaurant we had intended to go to was closed. You order at the counter which is fine if you know what you want, but when you are a first-timer at a restaurant, I always feel a little rushed. I asked for some suggestions and was told to get the Urban Cowboy. Unfortunately I cannot eat dairy and told the server that. Instead I ordered the Lime-Marinated Steak and Rice and ordered the Chipotle-Braised pork for my fiance. When our food came out, I saw that my dish had cheese all over the top of the salad. I wish the server had told me that there was cheese on the salad after I had just told her that I could not eat the sandwich she suggested because of the cheese. I would have asked for another salad, but it was close to closing time and I could tell by looking at the open kitchen that they were cleaning up in back. So I just picked around the cheese as best as I could. As far as the entrees went, they were okay. My steak was a little chewy and did not have a ton of flavor. The rice was good. The orange roll that came with it was a strange addition. I think it would be great at breakfast but I did not feel that it went well with the rest of my meal. The pork was good. Small serving of pork with all of that bread. The broccoli salad was tasty. The pasta was just okay. I would give Urban Cookhouse another try but I would not go 30 minutes before closing time and next time, I would try something else.

Yelp
This place is exceptional! I wish the location was further from the bars for day to day convenience, but everything I've had on their menu is great! Fast service, easy parking for free in the back lot, great value for the price, and plenty of healthy options. Veggie Quesadilla - one of my favorite quesadillas in town! Loaded with veggies and it's not overwhelmingly cheesy - a good combo. Grilled Chicken Sandwich - chicken is cooked perfectly and it comes with a side item Salads: LOADED with toppings - a great value Local Mix - I always add grilled chicken. Honestly, it's two meals Berry Good - pecans are delicious, fruit is fresh Chicken Salad and Fruit Plate - delicious Hot Cheddar Pasta - best Mac n Cheese in Nashville Broccoli salad - not oversaturated in sauce Orange Rolls - dreamy and delicious; go ahead and order some to go for your family or friends! Strawberry Lemonade - light, refreshing, fresh-squeezed Half-Baked Cookies - if you're celebrating something or trying to be a crowd favorite, order this as a surprise. It will appear at the table by the time everyone is almost done with their meal!

Yelp
Urban Cookhouse in Midtown is a pleasant surprise of a barbecue place but with healthier options (not that I would necessarily order the healthier option but hey, it's great that it's there). Their menu is well-rounded with sandwiches, soup/salads, wraps, entrees, sides and sweets. The restaurant is simple and clean. The 'Take it to the House' option on the menu is marketed as feeding two adults and two children. The lady I spoke to said that her and her husband could eat most of the food when they do this option but I think it could easily feed three adults as well based on the amount of food that we had leftover. I called in the order before I got off of work for something easy to bring home and they had everything ready when I arrived and checked-in at the register. They asked if I wanted to pay over the phone so that I could just take it immediately so I did pay over the phone which was convenient. The food option I ordered allows you to choose one entree, two sides and it comes with 4 orange rolls (or in my case we did 2 yeast 2 orange but I wish we did all orange because those are fantastic). We also got a half gallon of sweet tea. The total was about $40 but lasted us for two meals. We chose the chipotle braised pork, hot cheddar pasta and roasted vegetables. We enjoyed all the food except we noticed that the carrots in the roasted vegetables were almost raw and too crunchy so we picked those out. The pulled pork was good and the barbecue sauce they gave us on the side went great on it. The hot cheddar pasta is just like mac n cheese but with penne instead of macaroni. I think the quality of the food is good and worth the price. I like their premise of "buy local, eat urban". This is a great option whether you are dining in or getting food to go.

Dave O.

Yelp
The food, the food, the food. That's all I need to write except to share with you the steak sandwich and the chicken salad sandwich along with the macaroni and cheese are just some of the best I've ever had. Definitely worth the trip if you're in Nashville
google avatar

Aubrey V.

Yelp
Strawberry lemonade is too sweet. Salad with romaine, canned corn and beans, and shredded cheese plus dried out grilled chicken for $20 total was disappointing.
google avatar

Lisa G.

Yelp
We have Urban Cookhouse on rotation at our office...if for nothing else, the orange rolls and broccoli salad. The rolls are homemade yeast buns with the perfect touch of sweet. A healthier lunch than most when paired with their rice, salad, etc. The meats will occasionally be a tad over cooked and dry but everything else is very consistent. Excellent, fast, friendly service.
google avatar

Ash C.

Yelp
It was fine. Place was a little dirty. I stopped by for a late lunch and got the BALT and veggie soup. The food was pretty good, just not worth the headache or drive to get there. I might be back if I'm in that part of town again.
google avatar

Amanda D.

Yelp
Super yummy place to stop and get lunch. The wrap I got was fantastic and a side of broccoli salad- yum You go in and order the food, sit and they bring it out to you. This is nice for a place during a short lunch. The only bad side (why not 5 stars) would be that since you're sitting down, you don't really get refills. You have to go ask for more. I'd suggesting getting sweet tea since it's right out accessible for you to get. They get pretty busy and it makes it hard to get someone's attention.
google avatar

Charity C.

Yelp
The berry wrap was delicious! I may try it as a salad next time, but it was definitely fulfilling. The meal also comes with a side so you will be full for sure for the price. The service wasn't too good, but I'll assume he was having an off day. Otherwise, I thought this was a great lunch spot.

Wesley W.

Yelp
Bad food, uncooked and super slow service with workers on their phones. I make a better sandwich at home.
google avatar

Shannon S.

Yelp
They have free parking and late hours which are great bonuses. The food seems reasonably fresh but often in some less than optimal combinations. Speaking of combinations pretty much everything here seems to mainly be either a salad or a sandwich. I was taking a carb break so I was off the bread so that really just left me with a salad option which really I just wanted a big plate of meat but I got the chicken salad instead which didn't really float my boat. This is so far the least liked food I've ever eaten in Nashville. Maybe they can do better?
google avatar

Chris V.

Yelp
Great place for a casual lunch or dinner. Strawberry lemonade is good a tad too sweet for me though. Had the Cuban was very enjoyable.
google avatar

Jack N.

Yelp
We went here for lunch during our recent trip to Nashville. Located in the Gulch. Note, their parking is Behind the building. They offer a wide selection of sandwiches & wraps. Also, they have various meats options including steaks, chicken & pork. GF menu includes another option. All good choices.
google avatar

Russell E.

Yelp
Unbelievably slow. Noon on a Thursday with roughly 12-15 people in the restaurant and it took 30+ minutes to receive our food. It looks like one to two people tops in the kitchen. I may be biased with the Charlotte location but this one just misses the mark. The interior is visually lacking. As for the food, it was ok. The Berry Good wrap is 90% salad with a few chunks of chicken. The buffalo wrap tastes alright but is very small with hardly any chicken. I wouldn't come back to this location given the experience. They need some more staff and to take a look at how the other locations are serving the food because this one really misses the mark. Also the restroom is in terrible condition. The men's room simply has a desk lamp as a light since the main fixture is completely missing.
google avatar

Brittany N.

Yelp
I was actually surprised this place wasn't busier. We originally tried to do a tavern brunch, but the wait was astronomically long so we stumbled upon this place. It wasn't busy, which meant food came quick. I love that this place uses fresh, in house made items. I went with the cubano with a side of vegetables. I wouldn't say it was Miami-cuban delicious, but it was definitely awesome. I'm not a huge pickle girl, by that I mean I usually despise them. I forgot to order the sandwich without them, and they were surprisingly refreshing and delicious. My friend ordered the bloody mary, which I tried. Weirdly, I don't like those either and this one was delicious. I feel like 2 things I don't like, we're delicious here and that really says something. I also like that there is parking! And it's free! It's seriously hard to come by in some areas. I'd definitely come back here!
google avatar

Davis S.

Yelp
Love the Urban cookhouse! Enjoy lunch here often. Can't beat it! The Buffalo roll ups and fruit are my go to.

Yelp
I have liked everything I've tried here. The broccoli salad is really good! We've tried 3-4 of their sandwiches and they're always delicious! Parking in the back.
