I got both the Lamb & Beef Gyro and the Greek Fries from this spot. Since I figured it would be way too much for a single order, I got the gyro the first day and the Greek fries on the next day
Starting with the gyro, this was incredibly good
The first thing you notice is how massive this is. I can't believe they were able to fit this much food into a single pita, but they did it. It is absolutely stuffed with meat - so much so that there's no way to realistically eat it with all of it still attached to the pita. I had to accept the fact that a lot of it was going to be on the wrapper at the end, and that's what ended up happening
I have not seen a place that gives you this much meat in a single gyro - ever
That's all good, but if the meat didn't taste good, it would be useless. However, thankfully, the lamb & beef are both fantastic. They're fatty, immensively flavorful, have a great char that comes from the spit they're removed from, and overall taste really good. They kind of blend together while you're eating so it's honestly not super easy to tell which is which - but both are great
The other fantastic thing about the gyro was how much tzatziki sauce they put in. A large portion of the wrap was doused in this sauce, which I really enjoyed, because it meant that every bite had a certain moisture that elevated it to another level. This tasted like real tzatziki sauce too - where I could really taste the herbs and Greek yogurt.
This combination of sauce & meat created a flavor profile that made every bite really enjoyable
the pita itself was quite good - although I do wish it was slightly bigger to accommodate the portion size
I can't fully review a Greek place unless I've also tried their Greek fries, so I had to get these as well
Unfortunately, I can't say I liked these as much as the gyro. They were still good, but not at that level, and I've had way better Greek fries from other places
The best part about these fries were the fries themselves. They had a really good combination of being crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, which made each individual fry great to eat.
However, the disappointment came in the lack of sauce. There was very little sauce present in these fries - to the point where each fry felt like I was just eating that fry, along with a little bit of feta cheese. While the portion of feta cheese was good, it really does need sauce, and a lot of it, to tie everything together.
When you combine this with the way the fries are presented in a wide box, this means that a lot of the fries aren't going to have any additional flavor except the feta cheese. There was a little bit of lime, but not too much
I also felt like there was a lack of seasoning on these fries
Comparing this place to some other places I've been, like Aladdin's and Sultan's up in U-District, I have to say this place has a much better gyro than both of those, but those places blow Urban Gyro's Greek Fries out of the water
For the price, the portion sizes are pretty insane. Especially the Greek Fries, which can be an entire meal on its own for just 6 bucks
Overall, I'll rate the gyro a 9.25/10, and the Greek Fries a 7/10, for a total score of an 8.5/10
