The 24 Best Things to Eat at Universal Orlando Resort | Eater

"After days of eating junk, an unlimited pile of vegetables is a welcome blessing at Universal’s millennial-focused Aventura Hotel. Add your preferred noodles and a protein, choose between stir fry or noodle soup, and top with fresh herbs." - Carlye Wisel

Beautiful hotel, kind amazing staff…. Pizza was horrid though. Listen, I’m pro garlic. I didn’t think it would come with garlic sitting on top, but that’s not a bad thing…. Unless it’s this pizza… I got the 3 meat pizza and I thought that was maybe a parm cheese on top. No. The whole thing was so overpowered by garlic I couldn’t eat it. Threw it away. I like the pizza at universal and at some of the other resorts (surfside and portifino) but this was some nasty pizza.

We got a pizza yesterday and it was not bad. But we got this today. Significantly smaller than yesterdays, and not so tasty. Definitely not worth the price. Very disappointing.

I was pleasantly surprised with this option within Universal's Hotel Aventura. We had stir fry bowls that were delicious and a big portion for dinner one night. For breakfast one day we shared an omelet that was huge and delicious, another day we shared pancakes which was a tasty smaller breakfast (which is what we wanted so we're happy with it). One other morning we had a sandwich from the legit Starbucks and it was as expected; tasty and overpriced. All these options have a price premium for the convenience factor but it's a much better value than eating in the parks and probably cheaper than ubering to a nearby chain like Waffle House or iHop too. The only complaint I have is that a tiny self-serve coffee (not from Starbucks but from Urban Pantry proper) was like $4 and nothing special. It should have been half that. Urban Pantry itself is an enticing factor to stay at Hotel Aventura again.

We enjoyed both breakfast and lunch at Urban Pantry at Aventura on a couple of days of our trip. The breakfast was better than average, although not extraordinary, and reasonably priced for the amount and quality. The Wok Bowls were delicious! Between two of us we tried both beef and chicken, rice noodles and lo mein, and lots of veg! We enjoyed them fresh, and finished them later as tasty leftovers! We also loved the Margerita Pizza as a tasty but light poolside lunch. Overall I felt the food was a better value for the money than the cheaper options at the more high end resorts (TukTuk market, New Dutch Trading, etc.) and we will definitely eat at Urban Pantry again on future trips!

I want to take a moment to recognize Jennifer at the Wok Bowl station because she is truly the BEST. Every single time I come in, she greets me with genuine kindness and such a warm smile. She always makes it a point to remember my name and even greets my husband whenever we’re there and it feels so personal and welcoming. Jennifer goes above and beyond to make sure my order is correct every single time and she gives the best suggestions that never disappoint. She’s consistent, attentive, and you can tell she really cares about doing her job well. It’s rare to meet someone who combines professionalism, friendliness, and such great customer service all in one but Jennifer does it so effortlessly. She is an absolute delight and has made every visit to the Wok Bowl station a wonderful experience. Honestly, Jennifer is the kind of employee that makes you want to keep coming back. I’m a local and Universal annual passholder and always make time to grab dinner here a couple times a month. Do me the biggest favor and give that woman a raise! She’s PHENOMENAL!

Stayed here for a week, and had breakfast everyday, and most evening meals. Perfect every time, the steak dinner with vegetables especially was sublime. You would end up paying way more at city walk for the equivalent. Great hotel, great kitchen, will be coming back to Aventura without a doubt next time around.

Google
Awesome service and good food. Shout out to Ines that was our server for the whole week and made sure my parents had everything they needed.

Google
I will say I was hesitant due to other reviews but since we were on vacation we slept in until 10 and they have breakfast available until 11. Our breakfast visits were amazing! Everything came out rather quickly. We had a pool day and ordered some pizza later and that was delicious too. For the convenience of being in lobby of our hotel it's great. We visited each day we were there! Portions are nice. This is our second visit to Aventura and we were actuality bummed out we didn't get breakfast here on our last visit.

Yelp
Stir fry with white rice, chicken, tofu, and 4 veggies (baby corn, snap peas, broccoli, carrots). I asked for light sauce. It's good and a refreshing change from park food.

Yelp
I was surprised by how good the noodles were! You get to choose your veggies, choice of protein, noodles, and sauce. The meal was served piping hot which was especially satisfying after a long flight.

Yelp
Surprisingly lots of options and freshly made food, especially for lunch and dinner time. The dinner options are wok stir fry or soup noodles with your choice of veggies and a protein, burger selections, or a 9" personal pizza. I didn't get the sushi the entire time I was staying at Aventura because the fish was very discolored each time and dramatically overpriced. The service is great. Everyone working here was happy to help and provide accommodations if needed. For breakfast, definitely just walk over to Sapphire Falls for the New Dutch Trading Co. where they have a nearly identical menu, better food, and cheaper prices.

Keeven S.

Yelp
Food and Service is not something they know how to do here! I hate making post but sometimes it's so bad you have to. There is a chick-fil-a down the road for a better price, service, ambiance, and food.

Yelp
Honestly mid. It lacked all flavor basically. But sheee' hits the spot for when you're too hungry to make it over to City Walk. Burger is huge, could feed 2 people. Service was fast. Went around 4pm in Feb. They give u the little Restaurant Pager to notify when food is pau. The food court was empty at that time & the ambiance was relaxing. Workers are nice or hella tired, but tbh same. Medium burger with a slice of swiss was still dry. Needed lots of ketchup to combat. Burger COULD be a 5 and worth the price if there was a special sauce in it beyond a slice of cheese and mushrooms. Like damn Miss Cook don't be shy throw some more spices in that burger patty & on them mushrooms. (We think they don't season excessively for food allergy?) Garlic powder would make this whole thing bomb. Onion rings tasted more like batter than onion. But if u into that, das cool. tbh its still better than some of the park food

Yelp
Food court that doesn't feel like a food court! Various stands that open at different times of the day offering some items that are made to order (pizza, sushi) or cafeteria style. Grab-and-go case is also available. Prices are resort standard so expect to pay a little more that off-property. Thumbs up.

Yelp
My breakfast at Urban Pantry a few days ago was just fine. I got the American Platter. The eggs where fine typical hotel eggs. Don't go for the ketchup though it is terrible bad way to sweet. The bacon was pretty well cooked and not to bad. The hash browns where the best part of the dish but you can't really mess up frying things. Last the biscuits. Terrible and overpowered with nutmeg flavor. For 13 dollars you get a decent amount of food but all at subpar quality. I just can't recommend it unless your in a rush at the hotel. P.S. the Starbucks is also super slow. Be prepared to wait upwards of 15-20 minutes for your drinks.

Yelp
I'm not one to pursue hotel dining while on vacation but the Urban Pantry was convenient. My sister is here often so she recommended the best entrees to choose from (and don't stray from what you know): The Urban Burger - hands down. I believe the name has since changed to the bacon cheeseburger, but definitely the best bang for your buck when eating at the hotel. If you're not into burgers, I also recommend the tuna poke bowl or the teriyaki stir fry! The stir fry is a little saucy but you can ask for less sauce if you prefer.

Yelp
We visited July 2024 and it was understaffed. There are a lot of options with the food generally meh. I ate there 4 times and had problems on 3 of them. First time was for breakfast oatmeal which was fine. Second time: our pizza took forever -- more than 20 minutes for a small four-slice pepperoni. It was super greasy so we had to dab it off with napkins, and small for the price. Third time for a waffle ($14 just for a waffle) and the American breakfast. While in line to order, the woman in line ahead of me panicked because the register wouldn't take her credit card and the attendant said it was this woman's fault and she should call her credit card company. But then the same register didn't take either of my credit cards, from different issuers; we tried a different machine and still no dice (I went to the woman ahead of me who was at her table talking to her bank and told her it was Urban Pantry, not her). On top of that: I got pancakes not a waffle and the guy giving the food out blamed the error on me and wanted the receipt, which I had declined at the register. At that point I just gave up and took the pancakes. I clearly ordered waffle and they were not sorry about it. #4, I ordered oatmeal for breakfast again but there were no brown sugar cups made up. Thankfully the staff member went into the back and had a cup ready after about 5 minutes, of course the oatmeal wasn't as warm any more. So problems on 3 out of 4 orders, and multiple problems on 2 of those. but there is nowhere else to eat at the hotel.

Yelp
Already wrote a review for breakfast before and am now doing lunch/dinner. We stayed here for 5 days and haven't found something we didn't enjoy. Everything has tasted good and very filling portations. I will say Lunch and Dinner are more pricey than breakfest. I love the different variety stations for cuisine they offer. Universal was just always packed and way too busy so we didn't bother eating there. We just love the convince of taking our food to our room to unwind and enjoy it in peace after a long day. Everyone working has been friendly and getting food out at decent time. For "hotel" food I find this amazing compared to others. Obviously it's not 5 stars fancy restaurant, but the quality is good on this tier in my eyes.

Yelp
Excellent food at a great price I went to the roast station at the Universal Aventura hotel tried 3 styles of the burgers the bacon jam burger, the bacon burger and the cheddar and onion the pizza was great also And the fries crisp. Also a tip if you are staying at the universal Aventura hotel buy a freestyle cup, there Coca Cola freestyle machines are always stocked. The lobby of the Aventura hotel is very modern and has a very nice vibe.

Yelp
This is for lunch at the Sushi & Noodle inside Urban Pantry. This is the best value in the hotel, AND fantastic flavor. You get a HUGE bowl that you fill with vegetables, Mongolian BBQ-style. Choices include thinly-sliced carrots, peppers, water chestnuts, broccoli, red onion, baby corn, sliced portabella mushrooms, heart of palm - and others I may have forgotten. At noon it was extremely fresh. You then choose marinated steak, chicken or tofu, type of noodle, and broth or teriyaki. I chose Singapore noodles and chicken stock. Wow. Do not miss the picture! Expertly-prepared, huge portions, $15 and easily 2 meals. Thank you chef Eutimio people were nice and you can park right outside the hotel.

Yelp
Pizza was excellent today. 15$ for a pizza that is enough for two people. The soda machine was having issues today. The chip on the bottom of your cup keeps track of when you first fill and won't let you refill for some where around 5min. And you have one hour before the chip is no longer active. Today it kept popping up a screen that said something about maintenance. It did read the chip and then I tried the other machine. Since the first machine read the chip it said I had to wait for a refill even though I never got it . I had to talk to someone and she ended up getting me a new cup with a new chip. The whole chip reader is just ridiculous since soda is super cheap.

Yelp
Wow it's bad! $7.25 for a bottle of Fiji water. $15 for powdered eggs and hash browns that actually tasted like socks! The oil used In the hash browns on 12/29/22 was so awful I almost called the FDA to investigate. Overall some decent lunchtime options that are actually edible (hard to ruin a hamburger) but breakfast is AWFUL. If staying here I would recommend just picking up something quick on your way into the park, at least then you can buy popcorn for $10 but actually enjoy eating it. Or the the downstairs shop does offer some cold options to purchase (be aware the price is probably double the retail)

Yelp
Decent food, but way overpriced. I opted to get a kids meal instead of a full priced adult meal and the portion was just fine. They also threw in a bottle of water which would otherwise be two or three dollars separately. However, I told them I do not eat pork and asked if I could substitute something instead of bacon. They said "we can throw in some more potatoes." So I got stuck with a ton of potatoes when I really would've been happy with a piece of toast or some grits.

Yelp
Stopped in for some breakfast before heading to Volcano Bay for the day. At 7:45 am the line for Starbucks was out the door so I came here instead where there was no line at all. They have a pretty limited breakfast selection with eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, pancakes, waffles and breakfast burritos, but it's enough to make most people happy. I went with the breakfast burrito for 11 dollars. I could have added bacon or sausage for 2 dollars but chose not to. The hash browns were frozen triangles that tasted great but were very greasy. 1 was more than enough. The burrito itself was a nice size and full of egg and cheese. It also had a nice flavor with the tomato and pepper Jack cheese. The only downside was that it was a little runny and messy. With a soda, and my Universal annual pass discount the price still came to around 15 dollars which is a bit high, but to be expected on Universal or Disney property I guess.

Yelp
This place should be embarrassed at the prices they charge for mediocre food. $15 for a pizza that tastes like bad school cafeteria pizza? And, the pizzas were smaller than a personal sized pizza to boot. Want a waffle? Be prepared to pay $11 for that. Spend $4 for a refillable small fountain drink and you can refill for only an hour but you have a minimum time between fills. Universals greed at its best! The burgers tasted okay but then everyone who had one felt ill afterwords. Save some money and order delivery, the food is less expensive and way better.

Yelp
I thought it would be really cool that the Aventura has a little restaurant inside the lobby. I was extremely excited to try it, first we tried the wok station which was actually not too bad. You get to fill and bowl with whatever topping you like and they stir fry it for you. I really enjoyed it. Kinda pricey at $16. Then we tried the sushi not great....had the volcano roll it was $12. The next day after being at the park we decided to get something else from here. Wanted to try the rotisserie chicken priced at $18 which is way too high in my opinion. They give a choice of three sides but we didn't want any of the vegetables they offered and we just wanted rice, but they gave us a little bit of rice with the chicken, you'd think they'd give us more rice if we didn't get any veggies. One of the good things about the chicken was it had a really good flavor, very moist and the rice was very tasty even though it was small. But the MOST important thing I didn't like was the fountain soda. Priced at $4 per cup, and we got two drinks so.... $8 just for just two sodas, and on top of that the cups are super small.. You get unlimited refills for an hour only. The cups have a chip in it and when we went to get our drinks the chip didn't read so we could get anything to drink. Thankfully Joshua a bar tender from outside was super helpful and gave us some soda for our troubles. Over all, super UNIMPRESSED with the food for how much we paid.

Yelp
Way overpriced, even for hotel fare, and most of the stations did not have their act together. The only exception was the noodle bowl station, which does a good job. In the morning, that station is a fruit bowl station which while overpriced, was delicious. The rest of the joint was horrible with bad food and slow service.

Yelp
This was our first stay at Aventura hotel. Based on the menus in advance I was excited to eat here on day one. By day five I couldn't bare to have another meal here. The food is tasteless and blah. It does not have a lot of options. One of the most annoying things was that while it was nice they brought the food out to you, everytime they brought it, half of it or all of it was cold. This was not due to them being busy, it was due to them sitting and talking for five minutes waiting to bring it over. Also I found it very gross they do not use places they take a tray and put a very thin piece of paper down and put your food right on the tray. The pizza options are very blah. They have none that you can really add protein to. The breakfast was disgusting. They don't even have home fries here they have giant cold potato wedges that they give you. By day four I was craving Cabana Bay food. It is flavorful. Their breakfast is amazing. Also it was super weird that in the trash area the hole to throw away food was only a little wider than a water bottle so it became really messy to throw things away.

Yelp
Great choice for lunch and dinner. Portions are great. They even have kimchi ($6)!! Food quality is excellent. Not your typical resort food. I would recommend to ask for light sauce as it can get salty. But that may be your preference. Perfect way to fill up before the parks!

Kurt C.

Yelp
Only ate from the wok. The food was good, but extremely overpriced, even for a resort. Even if they just up their portions some, would make the cost more reasonable.
google avatar

Jamie R.

Yelp
The food was not bad and the prices weren't either compared to surrounding options. My daughter ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and asked for no blue cheese. It came piled with blue cheese so we returned it. They made another one with no blue cheese, however this time it was RAW!! I am glad that I cut it in half for her and noticed only after she had eaten a portion. They refunded the price but raw chicken is unacceptable in the food industry. Be watchful!!

Yelp
Was staying at Cabana Bay but happy to walk to Aventura for Urban Pantry. Pizzas are fabulous, the build your own noodle pots are fun and flavorful. Don't forget the Lemon Ice gelato!

Yelp
We stayed at this resort earlier this week and were very impressed with the food options here in the lobby at Urban Pantry. Delicious pizzas, sushi, and noodle bowls that you customize. But the best part was an employee named Danielle that was working at the pizza station one night and the noodle bowl station the next afternoon. What a sweet, kind, personable and helpful key component to your staff! Danielle deserves a raise and promotion!

S T.

Yelp
In a nutshell, overpriced and unsophisticated. I had the $18 wok bowl... which is about $6 worth of food and $3 worth of sauce. If the ingredients were not fresh and the shrimp cooked perfectly, this would be a one star review. The bowl was absolutely drowning in the most offensive teriyaki sauce. Your options are either teriyaki, sweet and sour, or broth (I'm sure a straight up, uninteresting salt-fest). It ruins otherwise perfectly good veggies and noodles. Guaranteed you will fill up on sodium and sugar before you finish your plate.

Howard W.

Yelp
We have been staying at Aventura since Sunday night and are leaving today. Here is my take on Urban Pantry. We had 3-4 meals here over the course of our stay. The, cooked to order, rustic style pizzas are delicious. Great crispy crust, simple crushed tomato sauce and topped with high quality ingredients. The teriyaki stir fry bowl was great. You get to load a bowl up with as many fresh veggies as you like at a self serve station, and then they add the noodles and protein for you. At $15, it's a very good value for the portion size. 2 can eat from this. Gelato and brownies were very good as well when we stopped in for a snack after a long day at the park. The "kid's meals" cheese pizza, chicken nuggets, and hot dogs also are tasty and enough food to keep kids of any age happy as well. They come with fresh made fries and a choice of drink. Juice, milk or a soda cup. There are many healthy choices of low or no sugar drinks in the Coke freestyle machines. We always chose that option. Last but not least, the staff are friendly and attentive. They also keep the space nice and clean. Great start Urban Pantry.
