This was my first time here but my wife’s comes here often. Very good menu selection. I had the tuna, salad and stuffing. I liked the tuna and salad. I had stuffing just to try something different but I will not order again. I’ll definitely return again.

Food is always delicious, healthy, and comes fast. We hit it every time we’re in the area. We always order online from a table to avoid the line.

I used to love this place so much that I even subscribed to the meal pass. That’s how much I enjoyed it. But now, I’m not sure what’s happened to the food. On the 4 Up Plate, only the beet salad with goat cheese stood out. The rest looked unappealing, and the stuffed mushrooms had just one tiny slice of mushroom. I’m seriously reconsidering whether to continue my monthly meal pass.

FRIENDLIEST STAFF, GREAT ATMOSPHERE Decent prices and freshly prepare cooked food. Some of their meals lack flavor with salt and pepper can make a big difference. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the establishment’s menu.

Dope spot for healthy choices. The wait staff was amazing and very kind. The food was good. We had the steak salad and the green lentil soup. Good pairing and definitely get the bread on the side. So goodddd. You’re going to love this place.

I love Urban Plates! I got my “usual”, which is the salmon plate and a three up plate. That’s all I ever get because they’re so guaranteed delicious. Tonight Patty was my cashier, who was very, very helpful and really upbeat, and she made it a real pleasant exchange. She lifted up my mood! I also always get your hummingbird cake too, I love that. This time I’m trying your banana cream pie. This is my very, very, very favorite place of all. It’s more than I can afford, so I can’t come too often, but I come as often as I can. Patty made an excellent impression and has a lovely smile. I’m so glad it came tonight. And where else can you get good healthy food too. I enjoy the environment, but I always get my orders to go.

As a vegetarian resident from the Dallas & Houston area, this place what just mind blowing it’s all the vegetarian options beside an impossible and bean burger. The got the 4 up plate with Roasted sweet potato w/pepper and onions, roasted mushroom garlic Parmesan butter, beet salad w/ goat cheese and roasted Brussels sprouts with balsamic glaze. I never had beets before and I just loved them with the cheese. The food was very nice and there were good portions.

The menu provided plenty of options, which were accommodating to everyone. The food came out super quick, and perfect to order. The service was great, Patty and Dalia took our orders and were very polite and easy to order through. Will be coming back!

The dining experience itself was top-notch, with friendly service and superb flavors that left a lasting impression. Fast easy and covenant parking. Love the pick-up / take-out option. Never had any errors in my orders. The steak, mashed potatoes and stews are to die for. Love that it's a great menu option for my kid who also loves the food. Not only is the food fresh and amazing, but the hospitality is also the best hands down!

BIG shout-out to Dalia and Dylan! I've been coming here regularly for dinner with a friend and our pooches, and we always enjoy the food, the ambience and especially the service. Dalia is a sweetheart. Personable, kind, always has a smile, always takes a moment to stop by our table to say hello to all of us, including our doggies, and ask how we're doing. Our doggies love her and so do we! The Chili Glazed Grilled Tofu Bowl is one of my favorite dishes. I especially enjoy it on a cold evening because the food is hot and we're sitting outdoors. One recent cold evening, I ordered it and it was delivered to the table lukewarm, at best. I asked if it could be heated up, and the server removed the plate to take care of it. I was waiting for quite a while and wondered why it would take so long to put the plate in a microwave and heat it up. My friend went inside to see what was happening, and Dylan came out and very kindly explained that they don't have a microwave, and they're making me a new meal. WOW. I didn't expect that! The new plate arrived shortly after that, and it was perfect. Thank you, Dylan! And thank you, Urban Plates, for another great dining experience!

I had the Chimichurri Grass fed Steak, Beet Salad with no goat cheese, the Chipotle Garlic Marble roasted potatoes. I didn't take pictures of my food as I was quite famished and wanted to dig in. But this review isn't so much about the food as it is their General Manager. Let me start off with stating that my meal was ABSOLUTELY, STUPENDOUSLY DELISH!!! I visited with a friend, who had never been to Urban Plates. This day happened to be Mother's Day. We were greeted and each given a long stemmed rose. After purchasing our meal; we were given a complimentary chocolate pudding with a strawberry. Again, in celebration of Mother's Day. Manny, the General Manager, happened to be standing near the high tables where we sat. He was laughing and joking with a couple of his staff members. He began to talk with me and my friend. At this point; I hadn't realized he was even the General Manager. I thanked him for providing us with a long stemmed rose and complimentary dessert. He participated in the conversation that emphasized honor, respect and community. His demeanor was very engaging, warm and welcoming. This is were I noticed his name on his shirt that had his title. The care he displayed for his customers was very heartfelt. We all know that interaction and participation with customers or rather people and community; forever changed after Covid. But let me tell you that Manny cares for people and his community. He didn't know that we drove over an hour to come here for a meal. He had no idea that I broke my foot. He was standing across from me while we were engaging in conversation. I asked him to come over to my side. He saw that I was wearing a cam boot. He then asked one of his servers to bring my friend and I another dessert. He didn't have to. He chose to. We were both blown away. I'm not stating this for anyone to come here for anything free. I'm sharing this because if you'd like to remember what is feels like to be honored, respected and treated like you truly are seen and not forgotten; to have a conversation that invokes hope in humanity and general kindness. I implore you to have a meal in the Urban Plates at the Carlsbad location. You won't be disappointed. You'll be seen. You'll experience genuine community and relationship. Oh; the food, desserts, drinks and ambiance are outstanding as well! I don't know if this is a franchise or corporately owned but they have a fantastic GEM of a General Manger in Manny! They should do whatever is necessary to NEVER let him go or allow him to leave! If you're a regular at this location; you're blessed! I wish we had an Urban Plates with a Manny in my area. Attitude reflects leadership. The fact that the staff look happy, says VOLUMES! Come check it out. Have a conversation with Manny or the other staff members.

The fact that I have been coming to urban plates for YEARS, and have not done a review genuinely baffles me. I think it's because every time I come, I get so excited about the food that I completely forget. The service is always amazing and everyone's always ready and willing to get you extra sides or anything that you need. The ambience is nice, the decor is cute. Sometimes when I go, I like to eat in the area with the fire pit it's such a great spot and it actually keeps you warm, the last time I went for my mom's birthday and they gave her a free cake. I got a cheeseburger and she got a beet salad and a kids steak plate with mashed potatoes every single time I go to urban plates whether I get a burger or a sandwich. I always add the additional side Caesar salad for two dollars and it's worth it every time. I'm also obsessed with all their sodas, especially the black cherry soda. Every time I find myself at the forum, or remotely close to urban plates I go even the days that I don't feel like it I DoorDash so if you are contemplating whether or not to try out this restaurant, just do it it's amazing for the most part. It's very healthy, and the food is always delicious.

First time eating here and the food was really good. We placed a pick up order. Everything was packaged properly and the portion size was just right. The double cheeseburger was a favorite for my son. We will be back.

Today, we had the Surf and Turf Plate, which includes grilled shrimp and steak along with two sides (we selected asparagus and roasted potatoes). We also ordered the Ahi Nicolaise salad which came with a vinaigrette dressing. I tried the Pina Colada Line juice drink as well. For dessert, we shared a slice of the Hummingbird cake, which is like a carrot cake. Deliciously prepared and fantastic service.

Great parking & location. Super friendly service. Karsyn provides great friendly service and even helps suggest added sauce to make the meal even better. The portions are great and the food taste great as well. The entire staff is friendly and make me feel welcomed. Will keep going back.

If you want the option to have real food with real ingredients, this is the place. I didn't have a chance to dine it, but from a take out perspective this is exactly what I wanted and the food surpassed my expectations.

We've eaten here several times and every time it's been delicious. The food is super fresh, cooked to perfection, very flavorful and overall just delicious. The service is always top notch and today was no different. We were helped by Cory at the front and she was just so friendly and helpful. She was so patient with my aunt who was with me and hadn't ever dined there and had several recommendations for her. We both loved our chicken plates and our sides.

Dillon was very helpful in promoting the Urban Plates monthly membership and in helping me replace a side dish whose ingredients were not going to agree with my stomach (onions).

Urban Plates (Carlsbad, CA) When in San Diego and I want to keep it "clean", I'll go to Urban Plates. I love all their locations and this location does not disappoint. Because we're familiar with the menu, we know what to get. Ordering is simple. Select what you want, pay, they hand you a number, and the food is brought to your table. UP's food is always fresh and always hits the spot. I will typically get steak with rice and roasted Brussels sprouts. But don't sleep on their other proteins. The chicken, salmon, and tenders are good too. The portion size per protein is about 6 oz. and perfect if you want at least 30 grams of protein per meal. My wife usually gets the steak as well and to be honest, I'm always hoping she doesn't finish her meal so I can help her out. My daughter also loves Urban Plates. She's not so much of a protein eater and usually opts for their 4UP (4 Sides). Her favorites are their mashed potatas and mac n' cheese. Urban Plates is perfect for lunch or dinner if you want to keep it healthy. If you prefer to loosen it up a bit, UP also has burgers. Lentil Soup - largely mostly salt - Ugh!! So much that it covers most of the taste of other ingredients of the soup. Skip it!!

My first time and I have been wanting to check. This place out! It reminds me of an upscale Souplantation vibe (without the buffet!) The cashier was very nice, my friend told her it was my B-day and she seemed genuinely excited and offered me a free cookie right away. We sat outside by the fire pit and didn't wait long at all for our food. The food was very fresh and tasty! I had the lemonade and it was very tart like they just squeezed it! I diluted it with water and added some sugar and it was better! I wish there was a location closer to me and appreciate their value menu, too!

My wife and I had dinner at Urban Plates. I had the Braised Beef & Mushroom served with basmati rice and a piece of rustic bread. My wife had the Chicken Cobb Salad and a piece of rustic bread. Ordering at the counter and having our order delivered to our table was easy and efficient. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the great food and friendly service. We would return to try other menu offerings.

Ordered a Hummingbird cake slice online for the first time. It came missing a bite. Otherwise cake recommended by my coworker was very moist & flavorful

I hadn't been to urban plates in a year and my last experience was so good I decided to head back after searching yelp for healthy food in Carlsbad. Unfortunately this time the food had great flavor but was a little meh for me. I had the "3 up" (which is 3 vegetable sides with an added grass fed steak. The steak slices were cooked to medium rare with a nice pinkness, but the texture was a little chewy. I ordered the carrots, the brussel sprouts, and the broccolini. The carrots were a bit over cooked. The broccolini was the best part. Very tasty. I do really like the atmosphere, it's upscale casual. There is a lovely fireplace dining table out front as well which is where we sat. You order at a counter and have the meals delivered to your table. They also had a surprisingly nice wine selection. Staff was friendly. I would go again to give it anothwr try as potentially I was just not having a great day? I would have given it 3 stars, but added a 4th based on previous experience there.

I started going here about 8 months ago, great location, awesome service, tasty food, liked it so much that I joined the pass program. However Im starting to notice with the grass fed steak plate and salad that the quantity of meat has been grossly reduced, this is extremely disappointing and even though its a great restaurant Im considering canceling my pass and looking for another regular spot to dine at.

I am a big fan of Thanksgiving and I love to cook, but cooking turkey is not in my book. My treat to myself this year was a family turkey dinner for my family. I placed an order, and somehow the default pickup date was Tuesday. Who celebrates Thanksgiving on a Tuesday? The manager called me at 3 to ask if I was going to pick up my food. How could i screw up so bad? A rush of panic ran through my head. The manager was so kind and offered to let me pick it up on Thanksgiving day, and for that I am grateful. The pickup could not have been more efficient. We were greeted by three smiling employees who took my name and offered me a chair to wait at. The kitchen staff were operating highly efficiently in the open kitchen. 5 minutes later I left with a nicely packaged bag with turkey, mashed potato, rolls, mushroom stuffing, gravy and cranberries. It could not have been any easier or more pleasant. They even sent a follow up survey as they are constantly looking to improve their game. My family gave the food high marks, my only suggestion to them was to offer larger turkey portions as there were 9 slides for 4 people, which is not enough to put them into a turkey coma. Fast, casual, but always tastes fresh and yummy. We have been coming to Urban Plates ever since it opened and it's a date night favorite. I rotate between the tri-tip with sweet potatoes, beef and mushroom braise bowl, and steak salad and they are always delicious. The flourless chocolate cake is absolutely delicious and so is the banana cream pie. Exceptional service from Cory & Kevin tonight!

I manage to come here about once a year, to the various locations they have. And every time I do, I am so underwhelmed and disappointed that I always say I'm not going to go again, but then, for some reason I always do. Start it's extremely expensive for the quality and size portion of food. The only somewhat decent thing is the salmon. Their Caesar salad is extremely basic, the dressing is just subpar. This week I tried a new item on the menu, the mushrooms with garlic and butter. I literally only had about three mushrooms. It was so gross. So I paid today for a salmon plate with a small Caesar and mushrooms that were gross $25 out the door, that did not include a beverage, which is important to note. I really want to like this place because I do think it is a San Diego based business, I am going to remember this last and final time that I went. And will not be returning.

Always a great place to have lunch while in the area. Menu has changed for the better with something for all taste buds. Staff is always helpful especially Ever, Arly and Arianna. They enjoy being polite with everyone and make the experience and ambiance better. Bring back the meatloaf!!!

Every time we visit Legoland we always make time to eat dinner at Urban Plates. Have never had a bad dining experience here. The beet salad is a favorite of mine. The ambiance and service are top notch! Highly recommend dining here.

Urban Plates has really upped their game with this Plate Pass subscription. For only $5/month you get 20% off every meal, plus you can cancel any time. We purchased it a couple months ago, thinking - if we don't use it often enough, we'll just cancel. Well, we've ended up going here a bunch of times and even took out our son and his girlfriend for under $55! I felt that was a really great deal. Especially when it's almost $20/person out there in restaurant-land these days! Almost everything I've eaten here is really good. Besides the yummy food and all the choices you have with every meal, it's awesome to be able to order from your table. That way we're not waiting in line for each party to figure out what they want and ask all the questions that keep the line at a standstill. Love this! Then you still get a server coming to your table whom you can ask for extra things. So you're not totally alone! lol I also appreciate there is real silverware and plates to eat from. The plates aren't just white diner plates either. They feel so much more homestead - almost like you're at a friends house for dinner. There's also someone cleaning the tables constantly, so we've always have a clean place to sit. Overall, UP is a great choice to go for good food at great prices. See you there!

This place is so great! The food is incredibly delicious and reasonably priced, the drinks are the same, and the staff are so friendly and helpful! In particular Matt Konatsu isfull blown legend. This place was outstanding! By far the best urban plates I have been to in San Diego. I loved the atmosphere and when we were ordering, Ariana was helpful with suggestions. Ariana was so friendly and added to our experience. We will be back, food was also great. You have to try the cowboy cookie and flourless cake.

We got some takeout for a family new year celebratory lunch and the family meals with stake and salmon were delicious! The meet and salmon were tasty without being overcooked, selection of side dishes had a good variety and assortment and were also tasty (the polenta was really good). Easy ordering and selection and also provided delivery which made things easy for us given other logistic challenges we were dealing with on the family side.

Love this place bring my family here if we need great healthy food quick. Service is quick.

The food is very homemade/comfort. But be careful. I got some foil in my Braised Bowl. Fortunately I was paying close attention.

First off, the vibes are immaculate. It's the perfect place to enjoy a delicious lunch. Mango tart is so yummy! Not too sweet! And the options on what to eat...fabulous! Arlett was such a great help on helping me out with my options. Her energy brought a smile on my face and I definitely want to come back! First timer at Urban Plates was the best!

Love this place! Great wholesome food and even greater customer service. Try the mango tart! They'll make a full tart for you if you call a day in advance! Such a unique and tasty alternative to a birthday cake.

Urban plates is always a good, easy choice. My kids loved their macaroni and salmon tonight. I enjoyed one of their vegan dishes. The restaurant is clean, staff are friendly, and my family always leaves content. Patricia went out of her way today to make my kids day. Shout out to her as well :). Thanks urban plates!

There are so many delicious Healthy options and the prices are better than any comparable restaurant in SD. Get the plate pass for 20% off every meal. If I lived closer I'd be here several times a weeks.

I got scammed with the bogus 3% surcharge. I try to avoid dishonest establishments that add this fee to the clearly stated menu prices. No, putting it on the menu in tiny writing that is 1/4 the size font as the rest of the menu does not make it ok. The food is pretty consistent and pretty good, but unfortunately this will be my very last time going there.

This is the best Urban plates location in North county San Diego. Cory is the first person we meet when we come here to place our order. She's always delightful, smiling, helpful and ready to make our meal feel special. The food is consistently very good and made with very fresh ingredients. I have been to other Urban plates locations in San Diego county as well as Orange county and this is by far my favorite. I always look forward to coming in and having a meal that tastes home cooked and delicious in a home feeling environment.
