Entrées overall was 3 stars. Desserts that we had were 5 stars while service was 3 stars. I had the free range chicken which was bland and dry. At least my 2 sides were tasty: the tomato mozzarella salad and the roasted brussel sprouts with turkey bacon--however, I didn't really see any or actually taste any turkey bacon. The Ahi Tuna was also fairly dry, but had a tad more flavor than my chicken. Urban Plates seemed to have somewhat redeemed themselves with their sandwiches - - both the chicken and steak with chimichurri sauce were tasty. We were also encouraged to try some samples of their homemade juices and our fave ended up being the orange- mango-cantaloupe mix (don't quote me on this one, couldn't remember the fruit combo, but it definitely had cantaloupe!) the juices with basil were just a little too strong for my taste. The best part of our dinner was the desserts. If you want something light and refreshing but full of flavor, definitely get the mango tart. If you like banana bread and pineapples, then get the Hummingbird cake--it was an amazing blend of flavors. The dessert winner of the night was the Chocolate Vanilla Layer cake--this was the best chocolate cake I've ever had--and I've had my share of chocolate cake!
All in all, I think we'd give Urban Plates another shot. At the least, we'd go there for their decadent desserts and tasty coffee.
