Urban Putt, San Francisco’s Mini-Golf Bar, Has Closed | Eater SF

"For the last decade I knew of just one place in San Francisco where you could play a round of mini golf while sipping an espresso martini: Mission District’s Urban Putt, a favorite for first dates and group get-togethers since 2014. It closed on December 30 after founder Steve Fox sold the original location (and a Denver outpost) to Funlab so the site will reopen as an outpost of Australian mini-golf venture Holey Moley; Fox said the pandemic’s impact—especially the six-foot distancing rule—was too great to overcome on his own, and Urban Putt ended up closing for 13 months. He plans to open a new Urban Putt in San Jose, and fans can head to 201 South Second Street there by the end of January 2024; Fox added he doesn’t have hard feelings and “believes that Holey Moley will do a good job.”" - Paolo Bicchieri

Gilroy Garlic Festival, a San Francisco Bay Area Tradition for More Than 40 Years, Cancelled ‘Indefinitely’ | Eater SF

"A new location of Urban Putt is slated to join the downtown San Jose development where the purveyors behind Paper Plane, Original Gravity Public House, and Miniboss have leased a 4,000-square-foot spot; Urban Putt will be part of the mixed-use lineup alongside a new restaurant and other entertainment tenants." - Dianne de Guzman

Really like the indoor design. Nice bar. Very cool and fun joint for kids and adults. Parking was a challenge as it's located downtown SJ. The food was decent. Drinks were yummy. The indoor golf pathways and interaction were amazingly fun as each area has a unique theme. From haunted house to an interactive hand maze, to a racing pinball-machine like maze, and more. Different from any other golfing areas. The path can be a bit confusing, overwhelming, and overcrowded. It also has an upstairs game/bar areal. I recommend going early on weekdays. Less crowded so you can enjoy it with no rush.

Went on a double date and had so much fun here! It’s so much more engaging than mini golf places I’ve been to. I would definitely go here again!

Jasper and the other employees were great. Good food. Fun, unique mini golf. We loved it!

Google
Honestly the coolest place in downtown SJ aside from Mini Bar Come to this place to hangout, eat, golf, or play games I hope this place stays around. Great downtown SJ spot!

Google
This mini golf spot is the newest addition to downtown San Jose. They don’t take reservations and we were told 4hr wait on Saturday night, so recommend trying on less busy weekdays. Inside is gorgeous, modern and sleek and drinks/food menu is pretty solid too. I love how much effort they put in for mini golf course, good ood date night idea and social gathering. Golf was 14 bucks pp if I remember correctly

I've been to the old S.F location and that was great. SJ location is no different. very fun mini putt, fun themes and unique ways to play mini putt. Food is pretty good, we had wings (Korean & honey truffle) honey truffle had great flavor. tater totchos. really good, calamari was ok, we didn't like the sauce it came with. basket of fries truffle Parmesan it was ok. this place is way better than tipsy putt Sunnyvale. better for and more fun mini putt. we got here at opening on. Saturday, was dead when we walked in but got busy rather quickly. food and drinks are a bit on the expensive side. 2 holes were under construction, so they only had 16 holes, & the duck hunt hole (gun was under construction) so you had to throw the ball by hand. they did discount mini putt cause of the missing holes though.

Google
This is a really cool venue, went there opening night (last night) and mini golf was fun, lots of helpful staff, and food looked good, though we didn't eat it. Prices for food and drinks are expensive, and golf course has some glitches, but overall probably the most creative/cool mini golf course I've ever seen. Super creative, super local & relevant to San Jose. A must see!! June 2024 update: Glitches are all fixed! The course is amazing & super fun!!

Google
I only had a drink and walked around because the wait to play golf was 4 hours! You read correctly.. 4 hours. That tells you how popular it is already and it just opened. Very nice bar area with high ceilings. Also a second bar upstairs which was closed when I went up there but cool because you can see down into a few of the golf holes. Walked through a few golf holes and it looks like they invested a lot for a high quality experience. Can’t wait till they create a reservation system, perhaps in the summer. Otherwise it’s first come, first serve… hence a 4 hour wait! August 2024 update: OK got to play this time. It's pretty fun but takes quite a long time to wait for groups ahead of you. And some of the holes lack instructions. Like the haunted hole took a long time to figure out. And the hole where the ball is carried up a spiral thing, rolls down toward the hole... it doesn't help any more than going an easier route. And the pachinko hole... it's not clear what you should avoid or which hole is better. But still, great get-together fun. Good cocktails, beers, wines, and mock-tails.

Yelp
My son was looking for a birthday party venue and discovered Urban Putt San Jose online. Having a February birthday usually means you have to deal with unpredictable weather, so we were excited to have an indoor spot where he could eat and play with his friends without the worry of getting wet! We were super excited to check out Urban Putt one night to see if it would be a good place to host our party. We stopped in on a Saturday night and the place was bustling. Always a good sign! It was fun to see the golf area lit up with glow in the dark and other fun features, and to see there was ample seating both downstairs and upstairs. We spoke to the hostess at the door who couldn't take our reservation on the spot but encouraged us to book it online for our party - very easy with Open Table. Note that Urban Putt doesn't have true "birthday party" packages - you just reserve a table to eat, and then you can play golf before or afterwards. I guess technically you don't even need to book a table to eat, you can just show up and golf, but we wanted to make sure our guests (kids!) had full bellies and were happy, not hangry, party-goers, so we booked tables for our group to eat before we golfed. We opted for a noon timeslot to hopefully avoid some crowds. Not to mention these were kids, and the place becomes adults only after 8 PM due to the alcohol on premises. We arrived when it opened on a Saturday and our table was reserved for us. The menu was very ample - we opted for pizzas to be split amongst our group. They were so delicious with a great crust! Highly recommend the "Lotta" pizza! Thanks to our server Jasper for the recommendation! We ordered 3 pizzas for 9 of us which was more than enough. We also ordered a couple of appetizers to share. Note that they don't have pitchers of sodas, so you have to order the drinks individually. One caveat: You do have to pay a fee if you bring in outside food (including a cake/cupcakes), so please be aware of that to avoid any unwelcome surprises! Golfing afterwards was super fun! You pay separately for the golfing and the food. A larger party of kids had just arrived before us when we had finished eating and were getting ready to golf (of course!), but the workers in the golf area were super accommodating and put us on the second half of the course first! We loved how there were "themed" holes, and they weren't normal holes - they had other features like pneumatic tubes, plinko machines, etc., many with a glow-in-the-dark feature. And there were cool "local" destinations featured, like. the Winchester Mystery House, Downtown San Jose, etc. The place can get a little crampy though with limited space, so it's best suited for a party of about 4 golfers at a time (We had 7 golfers and it got a bit tight around each hole, but they were kids and didn't seem to mind.) Parking was also easy. There was a Park SJ garage very nearby which gives the first 90 minutes free (then $1 for each 15 minutes afterwards), so we ended up paying $7 for a little over 3 hours at the venue. Overall it was a great experience and service was also top notch! Shout out to Jasper, our waiter, and Isaac (and his co-worker, I didn't catch his name) in the golf area - they were fantastic! Highly recommend coming here, either for a kids' party, or with adult friends for a fun night out! We look forward to visiting again soon!

Yelp
[Review written: 05 Mar 2025] Great downtown activity tucked away on Paseo de San Antonio. Chain mini golf place, but still fun...it's been years since I have been there! The Deets: - Food is mediocre, hit some other places downtown for better food. Overpriced and just average food affair. I had the single smash with fries - the burger looked frozen...eww! + Full bar: hard a, beer (with some local breweries on tap) and wine. - Inside seating for food and drink only, large space. + Private area available for events and parties. + 9 holes special $10, very family friendly!

Yelp
This is one of the coolest miniature golf places that I've been to or seen! Perfect place to hang out with a group of friends.

Yelp
Fun Concept, but Needs Some Work Urban Putt in San Jose has a cool and unique mini-golf setup that definitely stands out from your typical putt-putt experience. The course is creative and well-designed, making for a fun outing with friends. That being said, the service was slow--like, I could've played an extra nine holes before getting my drink. Speaking of drinks, they were overpriced and pretty basic, with the only standout feature being the fancy little smoke bubbles they put on top. A nice touch, but not enough to justify the cost. Also, the bar itself was sticky and clearly hadn't been wiped down in a while, which wasn't exactly appetizing. Overall, it's a fun place to try at least once, but the service and cleanliness need improvement. If Urban Putt put as much effort into the bar as they did the putting course, it would be a hole-in-one. Instead, it's more like a double bogey.

Yelp
Great spot in San Jose to hang out with friends! Came by on a Friday night, waited around 30 min after waitlisting with a group of 4 (definitely get here earlier if you have a larger group). We enjoyed the bar while waiting and I was pleasantly surprised that the drinks were pretty good, and the food was also decent! Overall good mini golf experience, lots of South Bay references especially if you're a native (shoreline, Winchester, tech, sharks, etc) based on other reviews, maybe they have improved and fixed some of the machines, so we had a good time. Service was friendly and it wasn't too crowded. At around $18-20 per 18 holes it's pretty value, and preferable for me over golfland etc

Yelp
This place was so cool and unique. We started off first by eating. My fiancé and I shared chicken and waffles plus side of nacho tater tots. Everything was delicious! The waffle nicely cooked and same with the chicken inside. That taters were also nice and crispy with excellent toppings of meat, cheese, jalapeños and guacamole. I saw a lot of reviews about being crowded. It really depends on time. We got there right at opening and it didn't start to pick up until hit close to 1pm. It still wasn't that bad. We did around if 18 holes which was both sides. I would say this the most unique mini golf I been too and very interactive. I don't want to give too much away but some of the floors move, some is like video game and some is more hands on. Definitely fun date night. I would say amazing for double dates which what we did because a lot of the group games are for 4 players.

Jason H.

Yelp
I came here on a Friday night with friends. We weren't here for the food, bar or to watch a game but rather to play mini golf. The price to play for adults was $11 for 9 holes or $20 for 18 holes. Just make sure everyone in your group gets a different color golf ball. The size of the golf course was not really big. I felt like the holes needed more space in between each other because some areas got stuffy and crowded real quick. There were arrows on the floor that guided you where to go and it took us about an hour and a half to complete the whole golf course. There were unique holes that didn't require you to putt but to use your golf ball. My favorite was the duck shoot on hole 17 which brought back memories of the Duck Hunt game on Nintendo. The holes also featured South Bay themes like the Winchester Mystery House on hole 4 and the Lick Observatory on hole 16. I liked the shark attack (San Jose Sharks) on hole 15 since that was my only hole in one. It seemed like as long as you got the ball inside the shark's mouth, it should be an easy hole in one for anyone. I had a lot of fun and I thought the 2nd half of the golf course was more fun than the 1st half. I liked how I wasn't putting at every hole and that some of the holes required a little bit of strategy. The only thing I found annoying was the glow in the dark theme they had going on. I know some people like it but it wasn't my thing. I would have preferred most of the lights be on.

Yelp
Cool spot to spend a couple of hours. It's a neat activity and definitely different from other mini golf experiences I've had (especially outdoor mini golf). It's amazing how they fit 18 unique holes into a fairly small space. There's another spot called Tipsy Putt that is indoor golf themed. I would say Urban Putt's actual golf experience is a lot better - Tipsy Putt feels more like a frat party where the focus is on drinking with the golf / games more of an afterthought. I didn't have any food or drink while I was there (we were with the kids and needed to head back out). The menu looked like "pub food" - I say this in a good way as I love pub food. They also have unique looking drinks and some beer on tap. The place felt and looked very clean as well. Bathrooms were clean and in good working order. Parking was fantastic at the San Jose 2nd Street garage which is right across the street / around the corner. I'm not sure if this is always the case, but we were able to get 90 minutes of our parking free, so the final cost of parking was miniscule. I was very happy for a Friday evening outing with the kids (and goes without saying that the kids really enjoyed the experience as well).

Yelp
Extremely fun minigolf courses with a lot of different takes on mini golf. It ranges from classic minigolf courses to some playing a completely different game with your golf ball! I love the concept of all the different types of games and definitely stands out from your usual local putt putt. The ambiance is arcade-y and fun and everyone is having a great time. I did not get to try the food but the bar drinks were definitely really expensive. I would recommend just going for the full 2 courses for full value!

Yelp
Our group of 6 came on a Saturday at 5pm and there was an hour wait so we ate dinner while we waited. They had classic American food such as burgers, wings, pizza, etc. The pepperoni pizza was delicious and soft. After we ate, we were able to play and it was so fun! It is the best spot we've been to for mini golf. I loved the San José references and the variety of games. It was a lively environment and parking was nearby at the San Carlos garage. We ended up paying $4 for 2+ hours at the parking garage. Check it out!

Yelp
Visited Urban Putt for the first time and had a great time! I've only ever played mini golf at Golfland before, but I feel like Urban Putt really went all out on their course designs and creativity. Not all of the holes follow your typical "mini golf" structure and they add a lot of tech, games, and creative design to make each hole exciting to play! The staff were all very friendly as well. We tried some of the food, my favorite were the wings and the root beer float (it just hit different after playing 18 holes). It's nice having a mini golf area in DTSJ. I really enjoyed coming here and hope they stay open!
google avatar

Yelp
The cocktails are amazing! The smoke bubble on top of each cocktail smells amazing. Service was great! Mini golf itself was okay, there isn't that much space. When people wait for there turn on each round (they cram-up in one corner).

Yelp
This was my first time coming to Urban Put and it was to celebrate and family/friends birthday. It was a Sunday night and we walked in around 7pm. Service started off slow. We ended up ordering drinks at the bar since we were sitting at our table for a while. Eventually someone came and took our order. Food came out pretty fast and it was tasty! I had the chicken and waffle sliders and enjoyed them very much! the waffle was nice and fluffy with a light crisp outside. The Ancho chili butter was a nice twist served with maple syrup, I would order again. The pizza with white sauce, bacon and garlic and pickled jalapenos was VERY good. I enjoyed the pizza and liked the crust. The wings I didn't try even though we ordered and heard they were just OK. I didnt plan on golfing but ended up doing so. Glad I did because it was cooler than I thought. It was a fun first-time experience, and I want to come back and bring my nephew because I know he would like this. The ambiance was chill and slowly people trickled in after us but it wasn't too packed. Overall, I had a great experience other than the slow service in the beginning.

Ngoc Han T.

Yelp
Went on a Sunday afternoon and it was quite empty but I prefer it that way because we can take our time and didn't feel rushed. Price: $11 for 9 holes and $20 for 18 holes. I definitely recommend diing the full course because my friends and I agreed the decorations and displays were more entertaining on the latter half. It had neon lights and was very pretty. The only I wish the place had was automatic score keeping. It was a bit inconvenient having to hold a pen and paper while also trying to hold your ball and golf club. We spent a good hour or so there so it's a good way to pass time and do something fun without any pressure of being good.
google avatar

Thalia M.

Yelp
The only place I've been to for mini golf is Golf Land and it wasn't something I really enjoyed. However, Urban Putt changed my mind about mini golfing completely. It's located in DTSJ and you could find parking at the E San Carlos parking garage! Urban Putt has 18 holes as a full course which is more than enough. The room is dim and has cool themes which is very unique in comparison to Golf Land. They also have a bar with hot foods including pizza, tater tots, wings and many more! We got the spiked frozen strawberry lemonade as well as the raspberry beer. Both were delicious. Overall, it's definitely a great place to mini golf or just to enjoy drinks with friends! Highly recommended.
google avatar

Christina N.

Yelp
Came here for a team offsite and it was so much fun! We made a 3h reservation which came with food, open bar and 1h priority play for mini golf. I was pretty impressed by the food selection. We had bacon wrapped shrimp, wings, cauliflower, some kinda tuna appetizer. They were all surprisingly good for bar food! Drinks were decent as well. The 1h priority play really helped and made a difference in our play experience as we didn't have to wait in line too long for every hole. If you've been to urban putt sf before it closed, this place is kinda similar but with newer and cooler tech. We had a great time!
google avatar

Yelp
Definitely a place to try out and have fun! My friend and I ate at their restaurant. I had a burger with tater tots, while he had a chicken sandwich with fries. I love the crispiness of the tots and fries. My burger was regular tasting like from a theme park. The service was good. He kept asking if we needed anything. I just think he needed to smile more. Service with a smile. The mini golf course was fun! Each par looked different and had difficult ways to get a hole in one. I didn't like par 9 and 18. Both of them were just like.. hit it in the hole to return the ball. You can get it in 1 shot with no difficulty. How do you break a tie in that case? Hehe
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
Super unique theme / holes! Liked this place a lot more than I expected to! Went on a Friday night around 8:30pm and there was a 30 minute wait to play. We got drinks and sat at the bar til we got notified that it was our turn Honestly I'm not a huge mini golf person but I would definitely come back here! Not every hole is like normal golf which I think really makes this place stand out. Some were like videos games or had old school elements that made it extra fun! Didn't try any of the food so can't touch on that part but overall had a lot of fun!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here after dinner for a lil date night. it was a bit confusing at first because the area was blocked offf so we had to go around and find the entrance. There is a security guard that checks your ID at the door. Since we got here around 10pm on a Saturday, we had to wait about 30-40 minutes for our turn. There were no other tables so we found two seats at the bar. Since we just came from dinner, we only got drinks! My boyfriend got a beer and a shot, I got the frozen Pineapple Putt Putt. I saw that the bartender got it from slushy machine like the swirls from Aquis. My drink was really good so I downed it hella fast. I also got the Happy Accident (regular cocktail). I saw that time, I saw that the bartenders barely make drinks here -- my cocktail literally came from a spout... Onto the golfing section. You choose and pay between the 9 hole and 18 hole. My boyfriend and I did the 9 hole first, but since it only took us about 20 minutes (this is with waiting for people's turn too!), we went back and told the cashier that we wanted to do the 18 hole (you pay the difference) My boyfriend and I enjoyed the golf course designs and had fun trying to make it into the holes for each one, although some of them were really hard -- the shark one I have no idea how anyone got it lol. Some of them were not putting holes either -- like this duck one where I had to launch the ball into the air. I like that they had glow in the dark balls to help us see it in the dark/black light. I do like that there are tables or an area to put your stuff/drinks down as you play.... although they were kinda small and needed to be cleaned.... I have been to the Urban Putt in SF before it closed down and the construction and design was a bit better quality than the one here. We had to wait for the group ahead of us to go half the time, so I recommend not going with a huge group. This is still a fun thing to do with friends and something to do in downtown besides drinking! LOL
google avatar

Yelp
I went to Urban Putt twice, once on a weekend during the night, and once on a weekday during the day. During the weekday, there is no wait. During the weekend, the line was full and had to reserve a spot ahead of time. The bar/food was expensive, but the one drink I got, 10th Street Penicillin, had a nice presentation and tasted decent. The mini golf course itself was really creative and pays tribute to a lot of South Bay landmarks. If I had to choose a mini golf course in South Bay, it would be this one. The ambiance made you feel immersed in the course and the lighting + props were outstanding. For both times, this course took about 30-45 minutes, but it runs smoother if it isn't as busy.

Yelp
Was able to check out Urban Putt for the first time as a SJ resident!! As a golfer, I was a little skeptical given my past experiences with mini golf.. but I have to admit, the ambiance, the staff, and the themes passed my expectations!! I love how each hole was an homage to San Jose and Silicon Valley with creative twists. I got the "Sweet & Neat" cocktail- it was light and refreshing. A nice touch was having areas to put drinks and purses near the holes. We also had the calamari- it was fried perfectly and was the right amount of crisp without being too oily. This golfer is definitely coming back here again!! :)
google avatar

Yelp
My and my family enjoyed our time here. I used to go to SF location and felt sad when I found out they closed. So happy they opened a new location in SJ. Bigger place and nicer too. Will definitely be bringing my friends here!

Yelp
I visited urban putt on a friday evening in a group of 4. The wait to get into the mini golf area wasn't long considering that it was a Friday evening. It was about 10-15 minutes. We enjoyed some mocktails and cocktails meanwhile . The drinks were great - boozy enough to make your time here more fun ;) There are 18 putts in the course, and you can either pay for 9 or 18. We opted the option for 18 - its took 4 of us a little over an hour. Its a fun san jose themed course with multiple challenges - not too overwhelming. We grabbed some food later - we ordered a pesto mushroom pizza to share. The service was quick and pizza was good. We also ordered meatless arepas - which wasn't really arepas. I found the food to be slightly overpriced for the quality/quantity. But, overall its a nice place to hangout with friends or for a date!
google avatar

Yelp
Very cute place for date. Went mostly for the game, and finished the 18 holes in like an hour. Hopefully they change the layout quarterly but overall really cute experience. Didn't try the food and drink, they have pretty limited options
google avatar

Maria M.

Yelp
Waited 2 hours to be told this was 21 over. My little sister and her friend drove from the valley to visit and decided to take them to mini golf since her friend is not 21. No sign posted saying after 8 it's 21 plus, they did not let us know at the counter as well.
google avatar

Maleiha S.

Yelp
Me and my partner did the 18 hole which came to about $42 total for 2 people, great price in my opinion. I love the dark ambiance of the place, they have very creative holes set up and the balls glow in the dark. Took us about an hour to complete (no line). I love that they allow you to bring drinks onto the course, and the food was good as well (can't bring food onto the course). We got the calamari and a basket of garlic Parmesan truffle fries. BEWARE of the calamari, extremely rubbery but thankfully my partner is a vacuum so he finished it off for us. The "fries" were delicious, they accidentally brought us tatter tots instead but they didn't charge us extra for it and they tasted delicious so no complaints. Only thing that's annoying are the chairs at the bar, they feel comedically loud for no reason
google avatar

Yelp
What a fun addition to downtown San Jose! Parking lot close by OR easily accessible from VTA light rail. The vibe is very fun here. I loved the golf ball / round theme throughout the building to include the hallway and restrooms. You can't reserve golf time ahead of time - but that's ok. Staff is ready to assist you with getting you a drink. Their shirts say it all - Eat Drink Putt So - do it! The mini golf experience is really fun - each hole is representative of something here in South Bay. Four stars only because not all holes are open yet - so - looking forward to coming back to hopefully give five stars!

Yelp
I've visited Urban Putt 2 different times, 1 for food & another for golf. For food: you're able to make reservations. I was actually surprised with how big the portion was for the Loaded Tot'chos. It was so crispy. Loved it! They give a good amount of toppings too. Service was pretty fast. We went on a Saturday evening & was able to walk in For golf: they said the wait over the weekend was 3 hrs but on a Tuesday night there was no wait. There are no reservations for this. They do have discounted prices right now since not all the courses are finished. I loved how the theme is Bay Area, so they had courses based on Shoreline & Winchester. They also had non-golfing holes where there's various games like plinko. Would love to come back when everything's finished.
google avatar

Veronica S.

Yelp
Super fun place! I hope they don't close down like everything around them! The deets: highly recommend you make reservations for a table, food was ok not super yumm but not horrible either. Nice drink selection and appreciated they had root beer floats lol Mini golf: You have a choice of half or full course the prices depend on this. Each room is themed and even some fun puzzle holes... go to see what this entails. We had a blast and will definitely be back! We liked we could order drinks while on the course too! Staff: hostess, server, golf check in girls and the server walking around the course were super nice! Why 4 stars: bathrooms could use some cleaning and stocking, someone should walk around the course to clean the left over drinks and too, more little tables or areas to place your drink (vs the floor) when walking through the course. Parking: several lots around the area and street metered too, close to light rail as well. Overall super fun and we'll definitely be back!

Yelp
With the saddening news that my favorite mini golf spot, Urban Putt, had closed down its SF location (the venue soon to be replaced by another mini golf/bar combo), my disappointment quickly turned into excitement when I found that the SJ location had finally opened. And my recent experience here, during their grand opening, was just as impressive, a bright, modern, and spacious venue with lots to offer. Besides the UP standard of high tech props and designs, the course was even more charming with creative and entertaining holes representing the Silicon Valley, including a circuit board, downtown SJ, the Shoreline Amphitheatre, the Lick Observatory, and the Winchester Mystery House (with disappearing holes that retracted on the ground, and a cool piano... but it wasn't self-playing or anything like that). Beyond that was a variety of random and amusing elements like a UFO crash site, the Kraken's Lair (reminiscent of the submarine hole at the former SF location), tilting table mazes, vertical skeeball, and a duck hunt-like hole. Some holes were closed ("coming soon" signs) like the Crop Circle finale, and others were out of order, for instance Jose, the blue animatronic shark, did not move at all (we could open his mouth using our hands, but it was clearly not working), and some were a bit confusing as to what you were supposed to do (there were small signs on the walls near most holes, but they weren't lit and were easy to miss, since the entire setup in the mini golf course involves walking through tunnels and cave-like structures, so some parts are dark if not illuminated by colored lighting). Also, no cell phone service in most parts of the mini golf course. Service was outstanding, so many employees ready to help, and just a 15-20 minute wait to play after putting our name and phone number down at the counter on a Thursday (you receive a text when it's your turn). We even got great drink recommendations from the bartender. The Happy Accident was delicious, just the right amount of sweetness, and STRONG... they certainly make good cocktails here, and you can bring them onto the course (not food though). We had dinner here too, the chicken wings were made just right, juicy, spicy, flavorful, no complaints. The pepperoni and mushroom pizza was oily and a bit soggy, but definitely tasty with no shortage of toppings. This mini golf course and eatertainment venue is housed in the former Camera 12 movie theater. Parking is what you would expect downtown, meaning not so easy, but not impossible especially if you're willing to pay a fee. Our recent experience wasn't perfect, but it was their very first day, so I'm sure they'll work out the kinks, which would turn it into a 5-star establishment. Overall a fun experience and awesome venue I can see myself visiting time and time again now that I've found an Urban Putt closer to home.

Yelp
Service was good but the whole mini golf area was pretty boring. Only fun part was hole 4 which is the Winchester Mystery House. Not sure if the food is good but drinks were okay. The one in SF is still better and more lively.

Yelp
Came the Urban Putt on a Saturday with the SO around 2PM because we had somewhere to go within the Downtown area and wanted to be there early in order to find parking. Lucky (or unlucky for us), Downtown San Jose happened to host several events that made traffic horrific, even when we arrived 5 hours before our scheduled event. We actually had trouble finding the location even while using Google maps. For some reason I thought it was located within the now-closed movie theater (RIP), or the now-closed gym, or even the now-closed Johnny Rockets... Urban Putt is instead situated right off the lightrail tracks on 2nd Street. Their signage is minimal and unassuming for an indoor mini-golf/bar/restaurant. While walking up to the door, I was able to make a reservation via OpenTable for right as we walked in lol. Walking in, I was met with a huge hanging centerpiece, a bar on one side, the entrance to play mini-golf on the other, and a bunch of table and seating in the center. All the mini-golf stuff is hidden behind a structure so I couldn't really see any of that when we first walked in. So futuristic/spaceship aesthetic. We were seated right away thanks to our reservation even though we saw a ton of Reserved placards on almost every empty table. I guess that is to deter people who are waiting for their turn to play from sitting down. **Note!: Make sure you put your name down on the mini-golf waitlist BEFORE you sit down to eat! Service was amazing thanks to Jio! We ordered a lot for just us two, but we were prepared for leftovers lol. Prices were definitely higher, but oh well. - Loaded tot'chos: super crispy tots, not a lot of beef - Hot honey wings: tender, but not enough sauce - Pad Thai pizza: pretty good, tangy/peanuty, and good crunch from the bean sprouts - OMG burger: you'll need quite a lot of napkins... and a nap after this one. The parmesan crusted Texas toast was yummy but hard to cut into. On to the actual mini-golf part... sad to say I was not a fan! First, you can choose to play only half the courses for $9, or the full course for $18. Come to find out there is a sign at their front desk that we are currently their "beta testers". Second, not all courses were even available to play, so I feel like the price should have reflected that (plus the whole beta tester thing should have come with some sort of discount). Some courses were super cool (Day of the Dead), and others were so gimmicky that I cannot believe they even counted as a course (robot hitting, pulley/plinko, horse racing). Literally one of the courses had us chuck our ball underhand (HAND!!!) into a pit designed around Nintendo's Duck Hunt. Third, maybe I suck, but if everyone else around me cannot get a hole-in-one at ANY of the courses even if they went the 'correct' way, then maybe the courses need to be re-evaluated. There were multiple courses which offered a straightforward route to the hole, while also waving a cooler way to get to the same hole. You'd think going the cooler way would ensure at least a hole-in-one or at least par. But no, you either kiss the rim, hit the hole and bounce out, or just appear somewhere else away from the hole entirely. Overall, we still made it a fun outing regardless of Urban Putt's flaws. Would I come back? Possibly, if it's with a group of friends and the courses are ALL available. But at this moment, definitely not.

Yelp
Went here after work with co-workers and had a good time. The food was good, and the drinks were creative. The place is still under construction, so the putting is 13 holes, I believe. But the putting greens are all really cool. The Winchester mystery house was my favorite. The environment is nice with a good bar area and seating. Pro tip: Address is misleading, and entrance is on 1st street, not 2nd street. Maybe when construction is done?

Yelp
Just visited for the first time yesterday, 10/10 experience!! The food was amazing (including gluten free chicken wings). Jasper was our server and he recommended the korean bbq sauce which was delicious. Also Ella made sure to add us to the mini golf wait list while we were eating so that our time slot would be ready by the time we finished eating. Shoutout Jasper and Ella for making the night perfect :)

Yelp
OK got to play this time.

Yelp
This review is for the end-to-end experience of indoor mini golf and the casual dining offered. Overall cool little spot to mini golf that provides a unique experience compared to most courses. They offer 9 or 18 holes, some of which are closer to a game experience than mini golfing. The food and drinks were ok, their pizza is likely the best option. We found the service to be real slow even just to bring over a refill of water.

Yelp
Urban Putt is a unique and fun spot that puts a creative spin on mini-golf. The courses are filled with quirky designs and interactive elements that make each hole an adventure. However, while the experience is enjoyable, some of the holes are a bit misleading. The emphasis on technology and interactivity sometimes overshadows the actual putting aspect. Instead of focusing on skillful shots, certain holes rely more on triggers or effects, which can be a bit frustrating if you're expecting a more traditional mini-golf experience. That said, the ambiance is vibrant and playful, with a retro vibe that makes the place feel lively and fun. The bar and restaurant area is a great spot to relax after your game. The menu offers a nice selection of drinks and casual bites, adding to the overall experience. Urban Putt is a fun choice for a different kind of outing, but if you're looking for pure putting action, you might find some holes a bit underwhelming. Still, it's worth a visit for the creativity and unique atmosphere.

Yelp
Had a good time celebrating to teenagers birthdays! It was a family event ages from 2.5 years to 91! I'll have to take my dad back on a slower day so we can fully appreciate each hole that has so much character!

Yelp
We had such a great time this past Thursday night! I'm sure it gets crowded but when we went it was nice and spacious. Ambiance and food were great, cleanliness was great, staff was super. They have lockers for $2. It's not a "real mini golf" so keep that in mind. It's like a mini obstacle course but still fun.

Yelp
**Only rating 18-hole putting experience** My favorite holes were the first one and the Shoreline Amphitheater one--it was super cute seeing mini versions of DTSJ and Shoreline! I loved the creativity for most of the holes, but it just felt off doing the hand-held maze holes, and the SF hole felt like I wasn't really putting, it was just gimmicky. Some holes aren't that intuitive, so my friends and I test ran balls by putting it into different holes to see the outcome, then we putted knowing our goal (makes more sense when you actually look at the holes lol) Friends who went to UP SF before it closed said the SF one was a bit better and better built. I'm not eager to go back... maybe in months when a friend visits out of town but not as a regular place to go to hang and have fun.

Yelp
** A good idea but lackluster mini golf experience. Spacious interior to hangout with friends, but didn't feel like it was worth the cost. I visited Urban Putt last month with a group of 6, and while the concept is fun, the execution left something to be desired. The mini golf experience didn't quite meet my expectations. Some of the rooms featured a some decorations but holes that were just a straight shot away, which felt underwhelming. In contrast, other holes were overly gimmicky or difficult to follow, leaving me unsure of the intent behind the design. For example, some holes were not mini golf related whatsoever, where you try to launch or navigate the golf ball around a maze using your hands on some machinery. Additionally, the price felt a bit steep for what was offered. I've visited the San Francisco location before and found the overall experience there to be much more enjoyable. Unfortunately, this visit didn't quite measure up. If you're in the area and looking for something different to do, it might be worth a visit, but I wouldn't expect too much out of it and probably wouldn't return again.

Yelp
Came here for a birthday thing and we had a great time! We did get food and drinks, and it was okay -- nothing too exciting. The staff was nice and friendly though, and helped us out with wait-listing since it was our first time coming here. We really like the aesthetics, it really reflected SJ as a city and there were cool visuals to watch your ball roll from and to! Our fav. were the octopus and the funnel-ese figure.

Yelp
This place is so niche that it doesn't vibe well with any category and it needs to figure it out. I gathered my friends here for a Friday night activity but we got food elsewhere in downtown before arriving here because the food options looked uninteresting for the price. We planned to get drinks while playing golf, and the golf attendee said a server would come to use for our orders while we played, but the server never came. By the time we finished playing golf, we didn't feel like sitting around for drinks, mainly because the vibe wasn't "sit around in a cool bar" and some over excited ladies were screaming on the golf course making it overstimulating. So note to self: if you want to play the golf tipsy, get drinks BEFORE starting golf. We paid $12 each for 9 holes, half of the course. We chose the adventure themed, and the course was fun and well designed. I forgot how hard mini golf is! We had a group of 5, and finished the 9 holes in about 20 min (we couldn't linger too long because of groups progressing behind us, but we didn't rush). I'd recommend groups of 2-4 for this. Any larger either you're waiting for everyone to hit or strung out, defeating the purpose of the group activity. So overall it was $12 for 20 min of fun, but the vibe wasn't right to linger over food or drinks (especially when the cocktails were more expensive than paper plane!). I don't think there's enough to draw me back a second time ‍ Logistics: - indoor seating and activities only, but there was some construction nearby that might be outdoor eventually? Idk - transit stop right outside, several city parking garages (price unknown) within a 10 min walk

Yelp
I came on a Saturday night with some friends and had to wait an hour to play. While we waited we decided to hang around the bar area and grab some drinks and food. To start off, we got a basket of fries ($12), calamari ($18), and a pepperoni pizza ($26). We got the calamari and fries mere minutes after ordering. The calamari was cold, not crunchy, rubbery, and lacked flavor. The fries weren't hot and lacked flavor as well. The pizza was pretty good and big enough to share amongst four people. The drinks were good too. Once it was our turn to play, we got up and waited ~5 minutes to start at the first hole because there were two parties ahead of us. The holes were pretty cool and themed after places in San Jose as well as some nautical things. Some holes were so tight together that your ball may end up in the next area. Some holes were also awkwardly tucked in some spare space. There were some creative holes that were actually games and not golf related. For $20 it wasn't bad.

Yelp
Came with our family on a rainy day. They have a solid beer selection, tasty bar food, and friendly staff. The holes are creative, my fave was the Duck Hunt homage. The vibe inside is very welcoming and family friendly

Yelp
Had a super cute and fun experience at Urban Putt! This isn't your normal mini-golf--each hole has a different theme based on San Jose, from little tunnel slots to a Winchester Mystery House-inspired ghost hole. It's just so cool! Highly recommend it. It's not too crowded, reasonably priced, and a fantastic way to spend a few hours.

Yelp
I'd heard about Urban Putt on the news some months ago and wanted to check it out. We came here on Mother's Day, and mothers played for free. When you walk in there is the bar on the left and various table in the middle for dining. To the right is where you check-in and get your golf ball and puttet. And we were able to get on the first hole right away. Even though their address is on S. Second St., you enter on First St., next door to Scott's Seafood. (This says it on their website.) This review is for play only, and we didn't dine here. But I did get a Surge seltzer, and it was $10 and change, but it was the large can. The layout was very cool with each hole a different theme representing San Jose. This is not your traditional indoor mini golf. Some holes you navigate your golf ball in a contraption. For example, one you had to put it through a maze. The service was great, and the decor was eclectic. You can play 9 ($11) or 18 ($20) holes, and we played the full 18 so that got the full experience. It was first come, first serve for golf, but you have to make reservations for dinner. Even though it was Mother's Day, it wasn't terribly busy that you're having to wait a long time for the group in front of you. It's definitely worth checking out. Also, note that it's 21 and up after 8 pm because they do have a bar. They're open in the evenings during the week (closed Mondays) and open all day on the weekends. You can bring your kids in the earlier part of the day.

Yelp
Urban Putt is a lovely addition to the DTSJ scene. The space is incredibly large and well designed. Bumping up to 4* though I think it's more of a 3.5*. However I will say the individual mini golf courses were not as creative or thought out as the one in San Francisco. And some of the individual golf courses needed some instructions on how to play since I had no idea if I was doing the right thing. The price right now is discounted since not all the courses are finished. So definitely worth checking out! We went on a Sunday at 2PM and the wait was around 15 minutes. Next time I'll check out the food and drinks. All the tables say "Reserved" and apparently we aren't allowed to sit in the seats unless we have a reserved table and/ ordering bites.
