Urban Taco - Lakewood Ranch

Absolutely delicious! Urban Taco exceeded all expectations. The food was amazing, but the standout for us were the homemade chips and queso — truly addictive! We could not stop eating it. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and served with great vibes. Highly recommend this spot if you’re in the area!

After 20 mins of me choosing what to eat I am picky with my food choices however I sat down and went to take a bite maybe 10 minutes afterwards my food was made it looked appetizing but it was close at the bottom I was trying to eat a fork full of rice black beans and shredded steak the cold stuff was on top and when I asked if they could heat it up I was told I could take it home and microwave it but they don’t have it use microwaves. I have mixed feelings everything that looks good isn’t always good 😒😒😔 I was so hungry too and so very disappointed

This is a late review. We arrived around 6pm on Friday August 30th. We were.not greeted when we walked in, but we were greeted with a young employees arm bleeding, not directly in the kitchen but she should have been in the back or bathroom. Chips and salsa is not included unless you drop 3.50$ for them. My taco were bland and no flavor but the presentation of them looked good. Wife’s burrito was just ok she said, and she’s a lot easier to please, so that’s not good. My Modelo beer was great though. My coworker mentioned this place highly. Well in my opinion I would not be going back here unless someone was willing to buy my meal and then I would show them my review.

Ordered some bowls from door dash, and they looked amazing on arrival. The ingredients used were fresh and large portion sizes. We would definitely order from here again! It's definitely a little pricy though.

We ordered the burrito and the bowl. The food was ready fast and it tastes great. The only down side is some rice grains were not cooked well but other than that the portion was great for the price and it tastes great. Would recommend coming to this place if you are in the lakewood ranch area. I know we will be back.

I love their build your own taco for $4.76(after tax)! Great service, clean feeling atmosphere, and amazing tacos! My favorites(as I love bold flavor) are the barbacoa and the Adobo chicken. I love them with the corn, coleslaw(really good with the meat), jalepenos(if you can handle the heat they are bright and crisp) Marinated onions, cilantro, salsa, queso fresco, and topped with lime vinegrette and garlic cilantro sauce. These guys never disappoint! If you're a big eater you'll want more than one.

There was a young girl at the register who seemed to have a bit of an attitude — almost as if customers were an inconvenience while paying. Your food is excellent, but it might be worth checking in with your staff about customer service, possibly implementing more training. Morning C. Okay y’all. Best food taco joint I have EVER eaten at… and that is saying a lot. I have a gluten and dairy allergy and almost everything there is gluten dairy free!!!! Tons of meat and vegan options as well. Packed a punch with flavors, TONS to choose from, blew chipotle away. I didn’t get a pic of my bowl, but I got a pic of my hubbys quesadilla. But just FYI my bowl had shredded adobo chicken, brown rice, black beans, fajita pepper onions, cilantro, pico, pickled onions, arugula, fresh diced onion, and a combo of their mango habanero sauce and their kick in sauce. I cannot say enough. I cannot BELIEVE we’ve been hitting up chipotle right down the road all this time and never ate here. NEW FOOD ADDICTION!!

Food & service is always Excellent!!! Recommend this restaurant very highly!!! Employees are friendly and very efficient!!!

8 months and still going back least two Tuesdays a month. The customer service there from the employees is great, especially from the ones that have been there the longest. Great job by management for the employees that they hire!

First time trying and honestly not a fan.. Maybe it's just me that I like my tacos together and not to break apart when you start grabbing them to eat but that was the number 1 problem, 2nd problem was that they were cold not even warm can't say hot but atleast warm and just overall horrible experience. Not buying again.

Urban Taco is good. It's Chipotle but WAY better. They have a lot of great options and the chips are AMAZING. Honestly a solid little joint where can get good food and a good amount for a decent price. They have weekly specials like taco Tuesday. Give this local little spot a try. It's honestly pretty good!

Best carnitas around, bar none! This includes fancy sit down more expensive places. You can get a dollop of guacamole on there for $.75 and don't forget asking for the guac sauce which is a blend of sour cream and guacamole, which is really fabulous here.. It's clean it's streamlined. It's sort of design like chipotle where you go through the counter, and have them put which taco shell in which meat filler, and which toppings that you want. That queso, which is their cheese, dip and tortilla chips is rather fabulous as well. I could've given them five stars for the food for sure, but I feel like even though the interior is streamlined and clean and functional that they could make it way cuter with a few colorful Mexican items in here to make it more homey and more entertaining and more visually delightful while you're eating here. But perhaps they don't want you to stay long and they just wanna keep customers flowing through? The boys at the counter work right Heart and the place seems to run like a well oiled machine. The feelings in the taco are quite generous so I ordered two tacos today, but it was a bit much. I could've been satisfied with just one. Who would've thought? They do have a taco Tuesday for their ground. Beef tacos are two dollars each. I tried them, but you know like most ground beef tacos. They're kinda bland and dry and tasteless. You really need the ground beef grease to make it tasty and most people don't want that. I've tried the fish and it was very good but like most breaded fish you don't get much fish you get a lot of breading. I tried the shrimp, same deal. And I tried their pork and that's really their most popular and their best tasting.

We absolutely love this place! It was our first trip here. The two young men who made our burrito bowls were very polite and professional. The portions are absolutely huge and the food is excellent. The burrito bowls we enough for both lunch and dinner. Incredible vale and tasty Tex-Mex

100/10 way better than the competitors. Food is fantastic...sauces, cheeses, choices of rice and meat. Staff is super friendly, price is hard to beat...be sure to get an order of churos!

Ordered a burrito and it really lacked flavor all around. Nothing was blended so all the meat was at the bottom and the rice was at the top, I also think it was missing some of my ingredients I requested unfortunately. We also got a quesadilla which was soggy but we ordered take out so I guess that is understandable. The queso and chips I would reorder, but I don't believe anything else :(

I write this review with sadness. I have been a fan of Urban taco for years. I drive from west Bradenton near AMI to go. The last two visits have been disappointing or maybe I should say they have been lacking quality. I go for the nachos. The chips the last two times have been so oily to the point that you smell the chips over the Mojo chicken and other toppings. So I am sad that this was probably my last visit. I have been cutting more fried foods out and nachos are one of the last fried foods to make it into my system. It could be my taste are changing and just don't enjoy the smell of fried foods any more. I wish I could eat like this forever as it brings joy to my mouth but disaster to my body lol. So long my nacho friend.

Stopped here for lunch today. In a convenient location right off 70. Plenty of space inside and a little patio outside. My first time here so wasn't too sure what to expect, I went up straight to the counter and let the gentleman know it was my first time, and while he was by no means rude or dismissive, he also didn't aid me much for it being my first time there nor give any recommendations or hints of how to go about my order. It reminded me of a chipotle with a few more options, which is not a bad thing at all. After quickly glancing through the menu I decided on a burrito with carne asada and multiple toppings. The food ended up being pretty good, I would have preferred more seasoning on the carne asada and again, maybe some more recommendations but otherwise it fulfilled my hunger and it was a great price!

I was hesitant after reading reviews but glad I went with my gut and tried it out. Similar set up to Chipotle but many more options. I can't say one is better than the other because they each have something the other doesn't. I love that there is a fish and shrimp option here but was pretty bummed when I picked up my shrimp bowl to see it is fried. It was very lightly fried and very good but I wouldn't have ordered it if that was noted on the menu. No tofu options as of yet. The toppings are very fresh and no complaints. The jalapeños are spicy! The guacamole is heavy on the lime. The burritos are pressed after the are assembled and that was a great touch. The chips are thick cut. Overall I recommend it and I would say if something isn't right I am sure they would gladly fix it.

BEST QUESO IN TOWN! And The urban quesadilla is amazing, so much flavor and fresh! Way better than chipotle!

Tacos were gross, too salty, and soggy. I can't comment on the service and ambiance because we only ordered to go.

Smells great, and taste did not disappointA friend brought a pizza to her office, gave me a slice. So fresh and authentically great. I must go in and buy a couple slices. A whole pizza for one person is too tempting, thus dangerous. Must bring a friend. You won't be disappointed

Ok , so in all fairness the kids were very nice and yes I did leave a tip not for the man but the kids working there . $6 for $48 bill , for 8 tacos , the food was bland not much flavor. Had weird vibe from the middle age man who look irritated that I didn't know any of the sauce or salsa apparently I should have known it's called pick- de gallo or hot salsa or sauce. Whatever it's called , we we're new to the restaurant and non of the sauce on display had label so it's all tomato sauce or salsa to us trying to point it out to the man. Next complaint was the packaging to take home. Paper does not work for damp tacos . Paper box rip open and stuck to the tacos. Maybe in the future but not anytime soon.

I'm from San Diego. San Diego & Mexican food... it's the best. I'm a Mexican food snob. We ordered fish tacos, carnitas taco and shrimp tacos. The fish was almost tasteless, shrimp was overcooked but the carnitas were ok. The food was not really hot (in temperature). We ordered our tacos on corn tortillas but the tortillas fell apart while eating. Frustrating. Tip: if you're going to serve corn tortillas, don't just heat them up by themselves. Ideal if you heat up corn tortillas in some sort of sauce or broth, either that or use oil in a pan. The one saving grace was their sauces. Very good sauces.

The food here is always great. There's this taste however that all of their food has it's like an urban taco type of taste. It's good food though the workers are great the management great not a bad place. Ambience is nice.

I come here all the time it's a delicious quick meal and the food quality is significantly better than chipotle across the street.

Need chargers for phones. Also need hotter sauce - overall decent: but he said the most spice available is in chipotle sauce. But tapatios sauce was ok. @rosiestake @iLoveSarasota Rosie likes fire ! SO I added jalapeño

Love this new place in LWR! The combinations are great and the many meat choices make this place so unique. All the toppings are fresh and the whole atmosphere was clean! Definitely get the chips, queso and salsa, you won't be disappointed !

The first time I went they were getting ready to close but they were not rude but welcoming & friendly. They made recommendations & they were very helpful. The atmosphere is similar to chipotle but the food is so much better. It has turned into my favorite place to eat & I will no longer eat at Chipotle. Their churros are amazing & I love the tacos. My husband likes the burritos & my kids love the loaded nachos. Highly recommend as we are a repeat customer! Love this place! This is by far the best taco place I've tried so far in town!

Traveling for work and stopped in to grab a quick bite to eat. I was pleasantly surprised. The young man Andrew that helped me was so kind (even with it being 30 minutes to close). The food was Amazing for a fast food "taco" joint and it was $7.00 quesadilla night. The restaurant was decorated so cute. I would definitely go back again.

Last week was our 2nd visit. The 1st time it wasn't that good but we wanted to give them another chance as we live around the corner. Same problems, sour cream watered down, queso cheese watered down, chips ordered with queso's were burnt, too done, and rated so. No more tries until the above is improved. Customers know when you water down to save money. It never works.

New experience: twice this week we've attempted to grab a late night dinner/quick burrito before they close. And unfortunately, both times they've been closing more than 15 minutes earlier than their actual close time :(

Ingredients are fresh. The people are friendly. The food is a bit blend for my taste, but it's good.

Young man helping me with hot item was very helpful. Older man finishing seems to rush me and was frustrated when I asked for a hot item. Meal was just okay

First time in and the staff was super friendly and helpful! Restaurant was clean and food was fresh. Great portions and prices. Taste was amazing!!! Will not grace the doors of the you know who chain again after finding Urban Taco!

We were in the area visiting and had a taco craving. Unfortunately the very misleading 4 star rating fooled us. We waited in line while the person in front of us was ordering several items. They were also making to go orders while we were standing there waiting. When we finally had our turn the kid helping us was very friendly. I ordered two blackened fish tacos. He went to scoop some very unappetizing looking food and I told him I wanted the blackened fish. He told me that's what he was getting. Why in the world would you take a nice piece of blackened fish and chop it up into a thousand tiny unrecognizable pieces? It really looked awful but I went with it hoping it tasted better than it looked. They charge extra for rice and beans or chips also. I got an order of chips & guac and went to a table. The fish tasted just as bad as it looked. The guac did seem fresh made, I prefer it a little chunky and this was very thin and creamy. 2 stars because they sell beer and the chips were warm and crispy. Would never come back here.

This is better than chipotle!!! HAVE to try the shrimp! I really want to see this business grow!! They do an amazing job with how they cook their food to perfection!! Definitely recommend and will keep going here for amazing food!!

I was hoping that this new place would be good and I was looking for a healthy fast way to bring dinner home. I was so disappointed in the food. I got 2 tacos, the cut up beef and shrimp and the chips and salsa with some sauces and guacamole. The taco shells were over cooked as well as the chips. The cut up steak was dry and the shrimp had no taste. The guacamole was way to salty and the crema sauce had lime in it and tasted off. Not even the salsa was good, it tasted like a jar salsa. I even tasted the spiced pulled chicken which was also too salty. It seemed that the meats had sat around too long in their serving warmers and were dry and tasted old. I will never go back, again so disappointed.

Their taco Tuesday special is a great value. We like coming here. The staff is pleasant and the food is good. The chips and queso is one of our favorites.

Great place! We have been here several times since discovering Urban Taco a couple months ago. We always get a bowl and everytime it's made perfectly! We are so happy to have this place nearby, it makes for a great quick dinner when I don't feel like cooking.

Great tacos and burritos! You can do quesadillas or nachos too and pick all your toppings. Good pricing too!

I've eaten here about three times now and would honestly recommend it. I've had their tacos and nachos. It's chipotle style where you can either order a la carte or build your own. The ingredients tasted fresh and they had a variety of toppings and meats for anyone's liking. The service is always decent - some servers are nicer than others. All in all, I would recommend this place as their food tastes good, their portions are great, and the prices are decent. Definitely try out their nachos with ground beef. It's tasty!

Food is great. Atmosphere is sit down or take out. Very clean and well managed. Tacos and burritos are my favorite. Reasonable pricing makes for an affordable quick lunch or dinner. Closed on Sunday.

Excellent quick serve restaurant. It's like Chipotle but better! I had the build your own bowl with barbacoa - so good! Seasoned perfectly. You can get brown or white rice. Their salsa was amazing! All (or at least what I had) the packaging is able to be composted. No hormones or antibiotics in the meat. It's good and good for the environment. I highly recommend it!

This place is chipotle 2.0. I'm a sauce guy and they got the sawce. Good meats, never out of items when I've gone, unlike another place I know. I keep coming back here it rocks.

First off, let me say what a great win for Lakewood Ranch and east Manatee County. We came to Urban Taco today which happened to be their opening day. Without a doubt some of the best tacos we have ever had. In total we had 5 tacos (Barbacoa, Chorizo, Snapper & 2 Veggie). Very good very flavorful proteins along with a wider array of toppings. We made sure to get some of the house made chips with queso, guacamole & pico. All in all a delicious new addition that will hopefully be around for a long while.

Honestly just okay. I got each of the tacos and they all were double layered with a second corn tortilla which I didn't love and smothered in their mayonaise based sauces that were lacking fresh flavor. My husband got a burrito and liked the fact that they have ground beef. (unlike chipotle, their competitor) We prob wouldn't go back :/

A solid taco joint, which will give some local storefronts a run for their money. I'm only giving four stars because of the fish tacos , which would have probably tasted better in store, but everything else was great, from the service to the abundant, reasonably priced and great chips (take note, poppos). We will be back.

Food was overall decent. Got a barbacoa bowl with corn salsa, cheese, pico, cilantro garlic tomatoes, guacamole and spicy chipotle sauce and we shared some chips and queso This place is nothing to write home about but the food was decent. These build your own burrito bowl fast casual places always tastes the same to me. Portion sizes were good, they pretty much give you double amount of guac compared to chipotle. The queso was a bit too salty and the guac was very lemony almost a bit too sour. Maybe it was a bad batch or something. Atmosphere was like any other fast casual. It's self services, staff was good

Very average food and atmosphere. When we arrived around 7:00 they were out of a lot of items and didn't offer to make anything fresh for us but saw them replenish eventually.

Chicken adobo and carnita pork bowl I made. The food is so fresh and good here. Honestly it's better than chipotle. I will definitely be back with my family & I live In Tampa. came from work for a quick lunch and something healthy.This little spot is very modern & caters to all types of food particularities.the staff was very nice and helpful.Especially the gentleman at the register who helped me.thanks for such delicious food after all of this Covid and fast food I've been living off of, its so refreshing!

Ok. The queso and chips were delicious. However the beef on my taco was pretty cold, I didn't feel comfortable eating it. I got 2 tacos with 2 corn tortillas on each. I ate the tacos right away but both tortillas completely fell apart. I ended up eating the filling with a fork. Corn tortillas can crumble more easily but the restaurant should look into a different brand or maybe heat them up more so they're more pliable.

Decent food, hard to eat out of the containers they provide and a little pricey for what you get.

Couldn't even finish it. Took 2 bites and threw it out. Gross food, restaurant looked like it was 15 years late in design. Service was fine. Good just sucked. If you're gonna try to out do chipotle, moe etc... you can't offer worse quality food. Bland food. No flavor just gross mush in ur mouth.
