Yelp
Seriously disappointed.
Here are the positives:
We called on our way south and were pleasantly surprised to find that they could accommodate a party of two. The woman who answered the phone was warm and professional. She is the one who greeted us upon arrival, and that impression remained.
Once seated, our server Kevin greeted us. We let her know we were ready to order because we were in a bit of a hurry. I asked for her recommendation between two entrees, her only advice was "Follow your heart. I've been here ten years. It's all good."
When she came back with waters, I asked for recommendations on red wine. Again, she was reluctant to lead, which just seems odd for an experienced server.
My husband's Caesar salad came out. Dressing and cheese were delicious. The cut on the lettuce was really thin for a Caesar though - certainly a picky critique, but it makes it hard to get on the fork.
I mentioned to my husband that it seems like Kevin had decided we weren't worth her attention. I don't know why, I just had that vibe. Sure enough, I don't think we saw her again. Another server delivered our entrees. She was primarily focused on her own tables but when she noticed ours needed attention, she came over to check on us. The other server took my order for a second glass of wine. Eventually she also cleared our plates. When I asked if our server was off for the night, she dismissed her absence as team service. While that may be so, there was one person on the team at the start of our meal and another for the rest of the meal. After the switch, it never felt like the second server "had" our table. My credit card sat out for over 15 minutes before anyone noticed. We never saw a bill before the card was run.
Based on service, this was a one star experience.
For food, I would give it two stars. We both ordered risotto - two different versions. My husband had the regular version with Jimmy's sausage. The sausage was the star. The risotto was undercooked. I had the special, a blackened shrimp risotto. The flavor profile was good but the rice was also undercooked. What was really weird were the two blogs of tartar sauce on either side of the plate. Gross. And it just didn't make sense on an Italian plate. As we left, we passed both women who serviced our table, a guy who seemed like he might be a supervisor, and the woman who initially seated. Not a single person acknowledged our departure.
I NEVER tip 15%. Tonight I did. We will stick with Jimmy's when we are in the area.
