Contemporary Mexican Place Urbano 116 Is Expanding, But Pivoting to Tex-Mex | Eater DC

"After celebrating a year in business and weathering a rough early Washington Post one-star review that criticized watery salsa, “airport lounge” margaritas, and an inconsistent, frustrating experience, I see Urbano 116 preparing to open a second location in Fairfax’s Mosaic District (2985 District Avenue) this summer. Its flagship at 116 King Street is undergoing a major menu overhaul that shifts away from Alam Méndez Florián’s Oaxacan, time-intensive moles and tostadas toward more ubiquitous Tex‑Mex fare — burritos, taco salads, enchiladas, chimichangas, and sizzling fajita platters — while still offering lots of tacos (though barbacoa and beef tongue will be dropped) and keeping on-site tortillas made from Mexican heirloom corn. I note that Méndez Florián, who owns the acclaimed Pasillo de Humo in Mexico City and splits his time between countries, is moving into a consulting role because the restaurant’s 160-seat size made it tough to serve his original concept; the company says a smaller future location could reprise his contemporary Mexican style. Urbano will temporarily close on Monday, February 24 and plans to reopen on Saturday, February 29 with the new menu and a light refresh of its lucha libre design." - Tierney Plumb

We had a great experience at this Tex-Mex restaurant! The food and service were both solid. There’s plenty of seating both indoors and outside, and we really appreciated being able to sit outside with our dog, definitely a plus for pet owners. I had a salad that was fresh and flavorful—light but satisfying. My wife went with the carnitas tacos and loved them; tender, well-seasoned pork and great toppings. Our daughter stuck with the classic chicken fingers with fruit, not exactly Tex-Mex, but she ate all. Overall, a relaxed atmosphere, good food, and great service. We’ll definitely be back!

Google
Bar, indoor and outdoor seating. Happy hour menu for bar area only. Sat outside and it was very comfortable. Staff were all amazing. Food and drinks were so good and fairly priced. Lots of food options and drinks. Vegetarian options also. Bottomless chips and salsas (also amazing). Will continue to go.

It was our first time having dinner at this place, and we were hoping for a nice birthday celebration—but unfortunately, it turned out to be a total disappointment. The music was extremely loud, making it hard to enjoy our time. The food was just okay but definitely could have been better. To start, the dishes were only slightly warm—not hot enough to be enjoyable. I ordered the vegetarian tacos, which were very basic: just some roasted mushrooms in cold tortillas. There was nothing special about them—not what you’d expect from a restaurant. My boyfriend had the chicken enchiladas, and they were cold. The side of rice wasn’t fresh and was only mildly warm (as well as tortilla chips). The flavors were passable, but overall we weren’t impressed. My bf also ordered a mango frozen margarita, which was watery and lacked any noticeable alcohol. To top it off, our server was inattentive. Our table didn’t have utensils or napkins, and even after I asked, she never brought them. Instead, she spent most of the time chatting with her coworkers, which we found very unprofessional. We still left a tip, but the experience was disappointing. We won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone

Google
Love the food here. The Mexican Pizza is a must-get appetizer. So is the steak quesadilla. They are very generous with the steak. It’s very tender and flavorful. The appetizers are very filling so we ended up getting full without even ordering the main! It was an incredible dinner in a very nice location. The server wasn’t great. She never checked in on us to see if we actually wanted to order a main dish… Anyways, I will definitely come here again.

Google
This place is absolutely incredible! From the very first bite, I was hooked, the food is bursting with flavor and perfectly spiced. Every dish was cooked to perfection, and I honestly couldn’t stop eating. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. I truly loved being here and highly recommend stopping by, you won’t be disappointed!

Google
First time at the Mosaic District location for Urbano and I definitely like the layout. The location has both indoor and outdoor seating; tables are well spaced and it just has a very open air feel to the place. We sat at a high top near the bar and our servers were very attentive. I ordered a mezcalarita and it was really good. The complimentary chips and salsa are always great. We ordered an al pastor quesadilla as an appetizer. Perfect size for two or four people, depending on how hungry you are. I ordered the mezcal marinated steak and my husband ordered al pastor fajitas. Needless to say we were definitely full after all that. The food all tasted great. My steak was cooked to order perfectly. Do be aware the music is a little loud, but you can still have a conversation. We did not have a reservation and it seems like they have plenty of seating. Thank you for a nice dinner experience. We will be back.

Ursula O.

Google
Urbano is a great location for happy hour with friends! They’ve got good food and drink options. I was pleasantly surprised with the size and quality of the quesadillas! It’s not often a restaurant fills them to brim and toasts them to a great crispiness. Definitely recommend!

Google
This was my first visit to Urbano. My friend suggested we go after our sweathouz experience. I was starving, so it was too far of a walk. I loved the ambiance immediately walking in. The oversized muriala and art decor was nice to look at. Even seeing the skeleton on the couch was a cool touch. We sat at the bar. It took a while to get someone to clean our area, and since there was trash and needed to be wiped, we didn't want to order until that was handled first. We asked someone to clean the bar 3 times, which is too many times. Finally, we were greeted by a server, and she handed us menus and bought out chips and salsa, which was amazing, especially the black salsa. It was smoky and flavorful. I ordered a frozen mango and lemon margarita with tajin on the rim. I got mushroom and steak tacos with refried beans and rice. We ordered guacamole, too! The wall of tequila was nice, and they have many selections of tequila. I would definitely come back one day and try another delicious entree.

Yelp
The food was delicious and our server Hugo was attentive! We always visit here when we're in the area and my steak and carnitas fajitas were fantastic!

Yelp
Came here for a holiday luncheon from work and the decor was nice and fancy. I had ordered the 72 hour slow cooked short ribs and it was okay. The meat felt soft but tough at the same time but the flavor was pretty good. They positioned my asparagus in either the shape of a ln A or it was made by the Blair witch... I'm not too sure but that kinda low key haunted me throughout my meal. It still haunted me... why did they put it in that shape... Why? But still had a nice time...

Yelp
I went on Friday. and once again my server was Julianna. She had me cracking up, even taught me some Spanish pretty sure she's from Colombia. but wow, what an amazing girl. She already has a new regular: me. The food could definitely be better, it's kind of mid, but she recommended the molcajete and my boyfriend and I shared the One and Only, and wow, it was actually really good. If you go, make sure you ask for Julianna she'll take care of you in the best way possible.

Yelp
I lucked up and had an amazing lunch while awaiting for my nail appointment next door at mint nails . staff and customer service 10/10 Passionfruit mojito 10/10 Daniela C. And bar staff were kind and attentive from the moment I walked in the door. If it wasn't 1pm in the middle of the day I would've stayed for more drinks. L

Yelp
Average overpriced Texmex food. Queso is great, food is okay, but there is plenty of space to gather so this makes it a good option for larger parties. Service is great. Nothing else is really notable.
google avatar

Hayward L.

Yelp
Spacious and modern Tex-Mex, very conveniently located in the Mosaic District. It has a funky, young atmosphere. I had the beef and chicken tacos, the food quality was average but portion sizes were reasonably large and the service very friendly and attentive.
google avatar

Patricia O.

Yelp
The restaurant is very vibrant with many specials. I ordered two soft tacos with steak. It was more like a beef stew then the grilled steak I expected. The breakfast burrito was big with a sauce on top. The refined beans were fine. Nothing to rave about. The guacamole came in a cute pig molcajete. The mild sauce that came with the chips was tasty. The service was also a bit slow. Overall I think I'll try other taco places nearby. Might come back for the drink specials.

Yelp
Terrible restaurant. First clue was the almost completely empty restaurant at lunch time on a Saturday. Second clue was the disgustingly dirty women's room bathroom. There was water all over the floor by the toilet and the sink was covered in mildew. I should have left at that point but I was with friends and we were already seated and eating chips and salsa. My friends reported that the margaritas were terrible and tasted like they came from a cheap mix. They were not freshly made. The corona on tap had no flavor and the beef and chicken taco platter I ordered had no flavor and were dripping in a nasty sauce. My sister's taquitos had a chicken mush inside them that barely resembled pulled chicken and my friend's quesadilla also had chicken mush. My fourth friend liked her chicken tortilla soup The whole place was gross. I will never go back. Go to Bar Taco instead.
google avatar

Yelp
The food here is pricey, but it's delicious. I had a bowl of chili and the Urbano burger. It's terrific, as is the service and the atmosphere.

Charmaine C.

Yelp
Our waitress Patty was fantastic! She was engaging, efficient and made our evening memorable. The server was great too. Great outdoor seating. The shrimp in the salad was cooked perfectly and the Old Fashioned was great. We will definitely be back and will ask to be seated in Patty's section.

Yelp
Service: very nice! A bit slow at times, but very nice - much more attentive toward the end Ambiance: casual Tex-Mex spot. Usable bathrooms but they smelled bad and weren't very clean. Sinks spray all over so be careful. Food: no! Not worth the cost and doesn't compare to local spots at all. Even with an inkind promotion, I was still mad at what I paid. Enchilada: not good at all. I got pork with green sauce. Sauce was on the sweeter side. Chimichanga: unimpressive Rice: bland and dry Charro beans: just tastes like roasted something lol Taco: ground beef - very basic but okay Fried ice cream: pass. Not truly fried, just rolled around in some soft topping and placed on top of sweet, fried tortilla strips. Coke: flat Wouldn't return.

Yelp
If you want a mexican dining experience that is a bit luxurious and you're mainly searching for a fancy vibe, check out Urbano in the Mosaic District. The prices of their food are a bit steep for the portions they offer in contrast to your average mexican restaurant, but if you're not the kind to eat until your overstuffed their portions might just do it for you. My sister and I had their steak fajitas, and it was presented nicely and cooked to perfection on a bed of onions. Their chips come with two different salsas, one of which is a smoky chipotle salsa that I haven't tried anywhere else! The person taking our orders roamed around and checked in on their customers often which was nice. Enjoyed the experience here.
google avatar

Trieu T.

Yelp
Craving Mexican and around the area? I wouldn't be opposed to giving Urbano a shot. For the most part I would say this place satisfied my cravings with the fajitas but was slightly on the pricer side with the value you're getting. The service was alright, it wasn't anything special and our server seemed unenthusiastic even when I'd consider my siblings and I "easy customers."
google avatar

Steve N.

Yelp
As Tex Mex goes, Urbano does a pretty good job. We have been here a few times and always leave with the same thoughts. The drinks are decent and the food is good; although, you are kinda left wanting more.
google avatar

Christina V.

Yelp
Went during Friday happy hour! If you want the happy hour prices you'll have to sit at the bar, and it's on until 7pm. I give this place 5 stars for their margaritas and the free chips and dip! I could literally just eat the chips and dip for my meal the chips just vanish in my mouth lol. We got the carnitas taquitos and the chicken quesadillas. I was so full from the drinks and chips so I didn't finish it but it was a standard quesadilla. This place gets busy so if you don't have a reservation or come early there may be a wait. We were lucky there were two seats at the bar!

Mauricio G.

Yelp
Overpriced Salmon and overpriced carne asada Need to hire a better chef who can season their food... Not worth it in my opinion. I could cook better blind folded ‍
google avatar

Guillaume L.

Yelp
We received excellent service from Tatiana (Tati). She was super friendly and professional, making the experience truly enjoyable. Food was great, as always!
google avatar

Yelp
I went to Urbano to celebrate my friend's birthday. I have to say that the thing I remember the most about the place is how strong the alcoholic margaritas were here. Walking inside the interior is spacious with the front windows open. It did feel like I was in DC for a minute since some places have everything inside for the windows open too. We sat down and we immediately got drinks. I got the urbano gold frozen rita regular size. When it initially came out, I was shocked at the size since it was in one of those giant goblet cups. Drinking it was a challenge because since I didn't eat anything prior I was getting a tad drunk. That just means the alcoholic drink is worth getting. For the food, I got the Birria Tacos which came with consomme rojo. It also came with refried beans, rice, veggies such as onions cilantro, jack cheese, sour cream guac, and salsa. It was good but I think the portion was a bit small. I'd probably try another dish here but overall, our server was nice and kept checking on us. I think since it was also early there wasn't many people there but it was also a thursday afternoon too.

Yelp
Always having a good experience when I eat here! The service if the restaurant is excellent. They stay up to date with their guests, consistently came by to refill water, ask if I needed anything, made sure the food came out in a timely manner. I always enjoy the fajitas. Comes out nice and hot with good portions. This place is very well decorated too. Not only do I enjoy the food but the environment of this restaurant.

Lynn N.

Yelp
We've been coming here once in a while for years, food is mediocre and portions are small but we liked the vibes. Came by with a friend for a quick drink recently. When we walked in to look for a spot at the bar, we were met with dirty looks from the staff. They came over and greeted us to let us know that the kitchen is closing soon and we let them know that we were not ordering any food but drinks only. We saw that they had a Sunday deal for buy 1 sangria, get 1 free - asked the server about it and he said yes the deal is still on. so my friend ordered that and I had a ginger ale. Fast forward - we noticed they were about to close so we asked for the check, a waitress gave us the check and it was $34. We asked if the Sunday deal BOGO sangria was included and she said yes. We quickly paid and didn't think anything of it. We started to question it the next day and checked the menu and the menu lists 1 Sangria to be $14. So unless my ginger ale was $14, we were definitely overcharged and she did NOT include the deal advertised. TERRIBLEEE service, we will definitely not be back again. Tons of other great restaurants with friendly staff in Mosaic.

Yelp
Not our best experience. The food arrived cold, and my grilled octopus was burnt--with no chimichurri in sight. Our server was noticeably unpleasant, which didn't help. On top of that, the place could use some attention to cleanliness--please dust, especially the middle art wall, and wipe down the glass. Details matter, and unfortunately, they were missed here.

Sogol F.

Yelp
I used to go there almost twice a month and always loved the food and the good vibe. But recently, it's just not the same anymore. The service has gotten really bad, and the staff aren't friendly at all. Such a disappointment--I'm not going back again.
google avatar

Sharon H.

Yelp
So the rice is probably premade and so are the beans, but the taco is really good and well-made. My friend noted that you can tell that the enchiladas were premade while the tacos were most likely handmade due to the comparison of imperfections on the tortilla. In my opinion, the Birria tacos were filled to the brim and which with the consome. As always, they are messy but in a good way. Service is pretty standard, and overall the food is good. The restaurant and tables are quite clean, except for the bathroom.
google avatar

Maria K.

Yelp
Came here for brunch, food was overall solid but a little heavy on the salt and oil for my huevos rancheros, so not quite a light brunch and I did not finish it. Service was good though, and there is plenty of space in the restaurant. They also serve chips and salsa as soon as you sit down.
google avatar

Claudine L.

Yelp
Ambiance was great! I liked how there was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating so you could choose what you want. We decided to sit outside and it was so beautiful and was great seeing everyone walk by. There is a section you can sit inside with a huge open window that gives you the best of both worlds. We were immediately greated with chips and 2 dips. Thought the chips were great! I went inside to use the restroom and it was alright - not the cleanest but it did the job. I ordered the fajita salad with steak (cooked medium) which came with romaine, avocado, cheese, fajita veggies, steak and a vinaigrette. I thought it was great but nothing out of this world. I feel like everything besides the steak and dressing I could easily make at home. I wish there were a couple more toppings (corn, or something). I would like to try their happy hour but it is a bummer its at the bar only. They also had weekly specials but we didn't try them this time.

Yelp
My sister and I were shopping in the mosaic district and we randomly walked into this place for dinner. This is a nice, chill place with amazing mexican food. We started with guac and chips and had chicken tacos with a side of rice and beans. I absolutely loved the elotes locas. The have a fancy bar. I recommend this place for a chill evening with friends for good mexican food. The service was quick.

Yelp
I came here for happy hour for the first time and just loved it! Yonlet was the best bartender! The chips and salsa, and quesadillas were delicious! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Lauren T.

Yelp
Light and crisp chips. Salsa was fresh. Accommodating to not eating seed oils and having them cook in Mexican butter instead. Cuts of meats were nice and thick, perfectly cooked & well seasoned. Tortillas were dry (seemed old) but homemade.

Helen M.

Yelp
Delicioso! Enjoyed the food, the adult bevs, and the vibe. Omar is da bomb! Can't go wrong here!!!
google avatar

Allie L.

Yelp
The restaurant is beautiful! We came on a gorgeous night and were happy to see that the whole front window opens and almost every table feels like it's outside. Our servers were knowledgeable and friendly. We had several different people taking care of us but unlike some other restaurants, this didn't feel confusing or oversolicitous. Our food was hot and incredible! I had chicken birria tacos (which I didn't know existed) and they were fantastic! The consommé was a verde sauce that was indescribable but oh so good. Other dishes at the table were fajitas that looked way above average. I look forward to coming f back to try brunch soon!

Yelp
I loved the decor and the colors and everything about Urbano! You walk in and get to enjoy Latin inspired art. Frida, Sugar skulls, there's a big colorful cactus, murals on the walls. Love it! Staff is so nice and answered all my questions. I got two tacos , beans, and rice. I'd really enjoy the rice , it was super flavorful and almost like a cozy homemade taste. For drink I got a Jarritos Tamarindo. There is a nice, spacious bar to enjoy drinks too! Everything was clean , bathrooms , areas, bar. All organized too! Parking lots are everywhere. There's so much to explore in the area. I recommend Urbano! Have fun!

Yelp
It was really good food, coming from growing up in a Hispanic house hold. The only thing was the service. The waiter tried her best. I think she was still in training. Overall I would go back.
google avatar

Lina J.

Yelp
Came here with a group of friends and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere! Even before coming here, passing by and looking from the outside in, I thought the decor was so cute (bright floral colors). We were a group of 4 and seated quickly. Our group tried their seasonal mojitos (blackberry, passionfruit, pineapple) - all of them were refreshing and tasty. Onto the food, I wasn't a huge fan of their nachos. Our waitress informed us before hand that the nachos came with individual toppings already on top (instead of a bunch of chips with toppings spread out over them). Flavorwise, they were OK. Probably wouldn't order that again. For the entrees, I got the shrimp fajita. I think there probably could've been more shrimp given the price (definitely a little skimpy compared to other similar restaurants). Loved the fresh flour tortillas it came with. Tasted great but it was not super unique. Service was super friendly. All in all, I think it's a great restaurant to hang out and catch up with friends at. The ambiance is perfect - not too loud or quiet. Food-wise, nothing super unique or memorable, but I didn't leave feeling disappointed. I'll be back but it probably won't be one of my regular haunts.

Yelp
Decided to visit Urbano after a movie here in Mosaic, and I haven't been before, so why not give it a try. Unfortunately, my experience here was very disappointing. The Food: After browsing the overpriced menu, I decided to go with the "Al Pastor Burrito". The burrito was sad. It came out on a plate with rice, beans, guac and lettuce, but the burrito itself was so small. Its as if they put a half portion of filling inside and rolled it up. So I basically ate a tortilla filled burrito. Not only that, the meat was lacking inside the burrito, so the filling was one not there, and lacked flavor. The only thing I enjoyed eating here was the complimentary chips. The Service: Service wasn't on par with what I was used too. Our server wasn't very attentive with our table, even being next to the kitchen. We had to ask multiple times for water refills and chip refills, but nothing would come in a timely manner. The Atmosphere: The restaurant was nice. Definitely a nice place to grab a drink and hang with friends. Plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, and spacious. Overall, a 2/5. Very disappointing evening here at Urbano. The food was terrible and the service was lacking. If you were thinking of coming here, it best to save our money and go elsewhere worth your while.

Yelp
I came here for happy hour last week! and wow it was amazing the chips with the two salsas were on point! so so so good!! their quesidilla was also REALLY good, i would 100p be back here for the happy hour! i was not drinking currently but i would come back for their drinks when i begin drinking again! the service was good 10/10. We started off at the bar and then moved to a table as soon as my other friend came and they accomodated that well! the ambiance was super cool inside, they had a lot cool decor and i would def capture that next time i came for instagram photo ops!!

Rita L.

Yelp
The good: Staff was friendly. The bad: Food was awful. We had chips and salsa and guacamole and a quesadilla. The guacamole looked old - there were brown patches and it had a super odd taste - I could not eat it (how could you even serve this!). One of the salsas was served hot? Not sure why but it also sat there untouched - just awful. The quesadilla was so basic and again just not good. One of the worst restaurant meals I've had. Sorry for the negative review but it's honest - do better.

Yelp
Flavorful food and a lively atmosphere! On my second visit to this spot I came for lunch. The salsa and chips they serve while you wait are delicious. Warm and Smokey salsa and a delicious mild puréed salsa balance the paper thin chips perfectly. We ordered combos to have leftovers to bring home and I am so glad we did. The beans and rice, which normally I don't touch, were flavorful and I couldn't stop eating them. The Al pastor taco was tasty with only a slight hint of pineapple. We left full and happy and will be back to try more.
google avatar

Emma S.

Yelp
Hits every time! Great food and service! Causal atmosphere- really good for groups. I wish the fajitas had bell peppers or just more veggies other than onions and more protein, but no complaints other than that!
google avatar

Alison W.

Yelp
We ordered the chorizo mexican pizza, tortilla soup, and birria tacos. It was way too much food for both of us. My husband loved the birria tacos and my fav was the Mexican pizza. For margs, we ordered the top shelf which was yummy. If you're looking for salsa with some extra heat they have a habanero one you can order.

Yelp
Urbano is a trendy Mexican restaurant located in the Mosaic District. Lots of outdoor seating, great ambiance indoors with a cute albeit small seating near the entrance to the restaurant. I didn't have reservations but was able to grab a table without a wait. It was a beautiful day out (80 degrees) and the cherry blossoms are looking amazing so I requested an outdoor table. The hostess said those are in demand and have a wait but there weren't anyone else waiting. She showed me to my table which was in a corner so I asked if I could be at another table but was told no because the other tables were for parties of 4. Before I even got my food, there were people who only had 2 people in their party got seated at the tables I requested. This kind of rubbed me the wrong way. I placed my order think I would get my appetizer first, then my entree after I finish but they came out back to back, within a couple minutes of each other. I had to wait until I could flag my waiter down because I wasn't given any silverware. My waiter took my order and failed to mention they were out of the beef stained tortillas for the spring bloom tacos. Honestly, this was a huge let down because I specifically came here for the cherry blossom special. When I questioned my dish, another staff member told me they were busy this afternoon so had sold out and that was it. I'm sorry but if you're sold out of a dish, why am I being charged a premium for a special and why was I not made aware of it? Chicken had 2 very small bones in it but I was able to catch it. I normally go for shrimp tacos and had I known of the discrepancy, I would have ordered something else. Picture looks nothing like the one shown on their site. My ceviche was decent, but the shrimp was sliced pretty thin. Margarita was a good size. Overall, food was ok and service was lacking. What a disappointment!

Yelp
Had the Barrera Tacos and threw up. Wasn't a fun experience at all. And the food wasn't that well neither. Make sure the staff is properly cleaning their meat and hands.

Yelp
Terrible food. Service was fine, but just wow. If you want Mexican food this is not the place to go. All of our food looked and tasted like it was warmed over from the previous day. When we got our chips and salsa, the chips tasted stale and I knew we should have bailed right then. Unfortunately, I ignored my instincts and we stayed for a truly unsatisfying meal. $56 for two people, no drinks and all I felt was foolish for stopping in. I don't know how there are any positive reviews for this place. Only thing I can figure is that the reviewers are just not familiar with good Mexican food. We won't be going back. In fairness, we stayed quiet and in retrospect I probably should have asked for a comp. I didn't even finish half my meal. I had chicken enchiladas and my wife had fajitas. Basic stuff, but ick.

Yelp
I love everything Mexican & Hispanic, so I definitely had to try out this place in Mosaic. My friend and I randomly went one day after work, i actually ended up meeting an old coworker of mine, so that was really funny; it was nice to catch up with her again. The chips & salsa were a great appetizer. To drink, I ordered the Watermelon Margarita. Watermelon is my favorite of all time anything. The fruit itself, the juice, the artificial watermelon syrup, I love it all. I was really excited to try this margarita, but unfortunately it was a flop. It really was just watermelon juice, with tequila. I might get some hate for this, but I wish they had added some watermelon syrup as well because it tasted like water with tequila. Especially because it's served with ice as well. We also tried their grilled oysters, I personally would not recommend ordering this dish. Although this visit was not great, I wouldn't mind coming back to try something different. The space is cute, and the service is good.

Yelp
The pizza was good and flavorful- loved the avocado and jalapeños on top - the crust is super thin and can't bear the weight of toppings and gets soggy fast but still yummy. Wanted to try the birria beef tacos after all the reviews , they were pretty good but a bit salty. The chimichanga was hard and dry. Prices are good and serving size is generous. Service was extremely slow and poor, three different people were serving us and it took at least 20 minutes before anyone showed up to take drink orders and another half an hour between appetizers and taking orders for the main meal and a long time to get the check and water refills. Very disorganized and slow. It was also stuffy inside with flies around our food.

Yelp
Food & service was great! I loved the fact our waiter knew how their amazing salsas were made & what made them unique. Waitstaff is attentive -I dropped a fork & immediately someone came running with a new one before I could ask. I've been there 3 times now & have had the Octopus, Swordfish, tacos, ceviche & kids loves the wings. The MaMa CoCo drink was yummy it tasted like a pina colada margarita. Everyone loved their food including my mother in law -who is not a big foodie. Ambiance is casual & contemporary. Great for date night or drinks with friends. Families are also great cuz place is large enough to accommodate bigger groups. Patio is nice for people watching but quiet enough for chatting.

Yelp
The bar staff was really nice and the food was tasty. Our waitress wasn't bad, but she wasn't great. I'd suggest you try their El Tesoro tequila.
