An incredibly unique and hidden experience unlike any other. While we didn't stay in the rooms, we were invited to explore the tiny island and to meet the wonderful people who have been running this sanctuary. Francine, the owner, sat and spoke with us for hours, showing her undeniable passion for not only providing care for all of her rescued monkeys, but for also providing never ending smiles on her guests' faces. She has reoccurring volunteer help from wonderful individuals as well as supports and interacts with the local tribe, the Ngäbe, frequently bringing them over to meet guests and make exchanges for little trinkets, or in our case, a boatload of the freshest seafood imaginable. The monkeys themselves are wonderful, with three of them being very social yet calm, and the rest separated by a bridge connecting the island the resort is on and an island just for the monkeys, completely restricted to all people. I had high hopes for Urraca, and all expectations were surpassed thanks to some of the most welcoming people I have ever met. Thank you for inviting us over for the day, and I hope to be back soon!
