This was the most incredible airport cafe experience we’ve ever had, and that’s saying a lot since we fly a lot and have been to so many. After getting through security, we had about 30 min before boarding our flight, so and decided to stop at the only cafe available nearby our terminal. We were pleased to be greeted by a lovely woman, Gaella, who took our order and honestly made our morning a lot less stressful (she was so kind!). I ordered a drip coffee with extra oat milk (my usual drink, so I wasn’t sure what I was expecting)
For some reason, this particular drip wasn’t very satisfying. I couldn’t tell if it was too hot, or not enough oat milk. I hated complaining, but I called Gaella over and explained that maybe I could just exchange the drink for something else (a bag of chips maybe), instead of making her go thought the trouble of remaking it. Gaella was uncommonly kind once again, and insisted that she could remake the drink, and make it better.
I was so happy that I guess I got clumsy, and when I went to throw the hot drink away, I didn’t notice the lid was off, and I (sadly), spilled scalding hot coffee all over my hand. I had to bite my lip to keep from screaming, and Gaella noticed right away. She immediately took action, getting me towels and burn creams and making sure I was alright. Turns out it wasn’t a serious burn at all, but she even offered medical attention. When I declined, she even asked if I was sure. I couldn’t believe how amazing she was being. The creams soothed the pain right away, and she made my drink, this time a Spanish latte and it was 100x better than the previous drip coffee.
Later, on my flight, Gaella called to ensure she had all the information in the event of medical purposes. She checked to see how I was doing. I could have cried.
Literally I’ve never seen a cafe with this level of service. Gaella is one in a million. I will make Urth my go-to whenever I’m in Terminal 1 LAX.
