While there was a distinct curated focus on one artist i fully and thoroughly enjoyed seeing such a topical display at this art museum! Robert Lazzarini in 2012 explores Barriers, Walls and Government. Quite the subject for 2019.

Sucks. Very small. Nothing creative or interesting. Apparently, USF has a weak art program.

This is a contemporary art museum. If you do not enjoy contemporary art, you will not enjoy what is provided for you to view at this museum. That said. This is one of my favorite museums in the Tampa Bay area. I have been visiting this place for many years. It is a small museum, you can spend as little as 20 minutes if you just want to walk through it and quickly look over the pieces. You will see a wide range of contemporary artworks and the shows change out frequently. There are no permanent pieces on display so each visit for me is always a new experience. Hours of operation It takes me a little time to drive from home to this museum so I always check with a call to be sure they are open prior to driving over. *Obviously the pandemic has created even more issues regarding the "Open or closed" status. Parking. You pay in the parking lot at a kiosk. I always check to see that it is open before I pay for parking. The museum is free and I don't recall the parking fees, it is minimum as I remember. If your a contemporary art fan or at minimum open to viewing some art that does not fit into what many think of as art, find a few minutes and give it a try - the price is right - Free.

Went to see the work of the MFA graduating students at USF. The museum is a little oddly set up in an off center square rotating around the entry desk. The space is large enough with good lighting and high ceilings. Some spaces are better than others. This particular exhibit was decent, though nothing ground breaking. The students have learned their lessons well, some better than others, but still felt a bit too derivative. Glad to see them pushing though. Definitely worth a visit.

This museum is really nice. Currently it has an exhibit of local painters all landscapes. It was really nice to see all the local painters in one place.

Yelp
I'm a USF student and I've been on campus for two years now and never really explored what campus life has to offer. So I decided to actually see it and I found the museum and I loved it. The staff were super friendly and it was free, who doesn't love free stuff. So I was able to enjoy the art work that they brought in from NYC. They have couple of events throughout the year. I'm excited to see what else comes through the museum while I'm here.

Yelp
Exhibits at this mid-sized museum may best be described as eclectic, edgy and evocative. Located on the sprawling main campus of the University of South Florida, the building can be tricky to locate, and parking may be an issue, but inside awaits intriguing displays of "significant and investigative" contemporary art from around the world. USF offers its Master of Fine Arts students a graduation exhibition yearly that seems to highly anticipated but whatever works by emerging and established artists are showcased here are sure to offer fascinating insights into current trends, directions and influences on contemporary art. Free admission makes it easy to return to view new exhibits throughout the year.

Yelp
Great free museum courtesy of USF! Though it's free to enter, the way they get ya is that you still have to pay for parking (during the week)... and that's if you can even find it during peak hours! The museum hours are slim, especially on the weekend when people actually have time off of work, so make sure to double-check before you go. On Saturdays they are only open 1-4pm, and forget coming on Sunday because they aren't open then. USF does a great job of rotating a lot of interesting and relevant exhibitions, including those of their MFA students for their thesis shows. Besides the shows, they provide a lot of artist talks, guided tours of the CAM, receptions, and other interesting programs that are usually free and open to the public. What a great way to make art accessible to everyone! I recommend finding them on Facebook so you know what events are coming up in the future to mark on your calendar. Best time to come: reception nights! Besides being in the bustle of campus life, they usually provide small bites and a fun atmosphere for viewing the artwork (plus, free parking after-hours!)
