There Are 10,000 People Waiting for These Filipino Doughnuts. That's No Surprise. | Bon Appétit

"Launched in Milpitas by chef Francis Sibal after he began baking and donating goods to frontline hospital workers, this venture grew out of unexpected demand and allowed him to pivot from corporate cooking to focusing on the Filipino baked goods he grew up with; the project began organically rather than as a planned business." - ByJasmine Ting

There was a lot of parking and the service was great! It is on the expensive side but I do recommend it. They would give you a QR code for you to scan to order. If you get the Wagyu tier, you will get complimentary sodas with it. I'm so happy the portion was so much smaller so we got to try a lot of things before tapping out. Surprisingly, I didn't feel gross afterwards or got those "meaty" sweats. This has been nice for once in a while event or special occasions.

One of my go to spots now for AYCE meats! The below is based on my first time..but I've gone a handful of times since. They do Yelp Waitlist, which is pretty accurate. I believe they also take reservations too. I showed up a bit later, but told the staff, and they put my name back on the list. AYCE premium $55/head $17 asahi super dry pitcher Our highlights were: fatty brisket wagyu short rib premium tongue center beef small intestine quite good Sides were limited, but lettuce was fresh. You can order 6 meats at a time, but you can order multiple times at once (if you order 6 meats, you can immediately order another 6) 90 min limit I'm sure it is more busy and hectic during peak hours. Weekday dinners probably a good time to go or right when they open. A few notes for improvement: -solely commenting on the diet coke...it is flatter than most fountain sodas, so might need to get it checked -it would be nice if there were physical pictures or marks/comments of which meat was what Should be able to find parking in the plaza.

A bit more pricy all you can eat Japanese style BBQ that's a pretty solid quality. That's the gist of it, their meats are all decent, I'd say it's worth the price for how much better they are then similar all you can eat restaurants. I would recommend anyone who is interested.

On a Wednesday evening, I was really craving yakiniku so, along with a group of friends, I went to Ushiya. I had gone to ushiya closer to when it had first opened and still had a lot of hype and loved my time there. However, this time was not nearly as good. The meat quality wasn’t all the same, and the grills didn’t even sit flush above the flame as they have been warped significantly over time. This leads to a lot of the meat cooking unevenly as the surface of the grill is completely uneven. One plus is that there was basically no wait time at all for a party of 6, but that doesn’t make up for the drop in quality. Service was really great though and the server was happy to help out whenever we needed. Overall, I would probably skip this option from now on as there are a lot of newer options that may be better for the price.

Google
AYCE Japanese grill that offers two basic price options: $35/person, or $55/person. The primary difference is you get access to a wide variety of Wagyu beef cuts in the more expensive tier. The appetizers are not very good, so I would just focus on the Wagyu beef. 75 minutes of dining time, maximum 90 minutes of seating time. All orders go through the QR code. Efficient service, large free parking lot.

A New Favorite! Ushiya Grill Made Our Holiday Special. Ushiya Grill truly made our July 4th special. We walked in without a reservation on a busy holiday, expecting a long wait, but were seated immediately by their friendly staff. It was such a great start to what turned out to be a fantastic meal. The quality of the meat on their Signature AYCE menu is just wonderful for the price point. We loved grilling the tender shoulder cuts and thick sirloin, and all the fresh accompaniments like sliced garlic and kimchi made it a really fun, interactive meal. The atmosphere was also perfect—lively but not too loud or smokey. But what really made us loyal customers was the service. They were so kind and let our daughter eat for free, even though she was right at the height limit for payment. It was such a generous and thoughtful gesture. Honestly, the only thing I'd even think to skip next time is the fries. Everything else was perfect. We're so happy to have a place like this to go to.

Google
FOOD we got the premium menu. honestly i am not a meat connoisseur so i cant really say anything about the meat. it was good. also ordered fries and miso soup. miso soup was very salty. fries were good but not enough ketchup. the sauces for the meat were also very good SERVICE service was good. everyone was kind and patient. ENVIRONMENT floors are a bit greasy (that's a given for a grill place). very crowded and warm, lot's of people. there's also a time limit (90 mins if i recall correctly). bathroom definitely did not have enough stalls

Google
Comming into ushiya was great! Had a wonderful experience especially with our server Fonda warm welcoming. She was able to explain how the ordering system works very clearly which we can really appreciate! If you ever want to have a good first experience I'd say try the premium set and you will leave impressed. You'll see exactly what i mean when through the pictures and let me tell you something.. the wagyu shortrib is my favorite throughout the whole experience, marbling was mesmerizing and while having the first try it's butter like texture while being juicy! Overall experience was a 10/10

Yelp
So we decided to try this place on a Saturday night without a reservation. We walked in on a Saturday and were seated immediately. We opted for the premium course for $55/person. Once we were seated, we were greeted immediately and were given a menu. One thing I immediately noticed was the cleanliness. The menu I got had some sauce on it, and the table was sticky, needing another wipe down. The moment they sit you down, they activate the QR code once you decide which package you're going to do, and that is where you order from. From there on, you have pretty little interaction with your server. You order from the QR code, and they just set your orders on the little side table for you to grab when you're ready to cook them. Drinks were very limited. They don't have any hot tea or unsweet tea, and their drinks are all from their soda machine, which you would hope would have more choices, but it didn't. So one thing I will say is order accordingly. Order your food however you want it set on your table. They only allow you 6 per order. I ordered a combination of meat and sides first, then the rice and the rest of the sides. The first order came right away, but it was only the meat and the cheese corn. The rest of the sides took a while to arrive at our table. We had to ask one of the hosts for our sides cause it took too long. Our meat was already done, and yet we still had no rice. The host got us the rice immediately, and our initial order arrived at our table another 5 minutes later. The meat quality was really good, but their customer service was very mediocre. Even asking for the bill took a while. I then had to ask the host again for our bill, since our initial server never really checked on us after he activated our QR code. All in all, this was an okay experience. There are definitely better Japanese BBQs in the bay.

Yelp
I came in for the $35 per person AYCE menu. The menu states that there is a 2 person minimum per table. I joined the Yelp waitlist while going to the restaurant. I've seen this spot get packed so I'm glad I beat the dinner rush. The floors are slippery from grease. I recommend walking very carefully through the restaurant and assisting those in your party that may be at risk for falling or slipping. Once you are seated, a staff member will come over with a tablet and activate the QR Code on your table. This will allow you to order from your phone. Keep an eye on the website because it added 5 bowls of rice, 1 edamame , and more without us touching the website. It was just me and my boyfriend so I know we didn't order it. Some meats were better than others; the one that looks similar to a bulgogi was really good. It was juicy and tender. I can't say the same for the last batch of brisket we received. It was dry and chewy. I know it wasn't cooking error since we cooked the first batch of brisket well. I saw many reviews saying that takoyaki was really good. I can confidently say it was better than the last batch of brisket.

Yelp
I finally checked out Uyshiya Japanese Grill in Milpitas and I was blown away by the lunch specials. Since I went on a weekday and needed a grab-and-go option, I skipped the weekend AYCE (which looks amazing) and got the 4 Proteins, 2 Sides Bento Box Special for only $24. This is seriously the best deal for high-quality Japanese BBQ when you're craving it but don't want to cook or spend a fortune! The value here is incredible. You get to choose four different proteins, and they come perfectly cooked! My favorites were definitely the Beef Bulgogi and the Beef Yashibabu--both were super tender and flavorful. I also added the Marinated Chicken Thigh and Beef Brisket, which were excellent additions to the box. The meal also comes with steamed rice, a Ponzu Salad, and a side of Beef Broth Soup. Seriously, do not skip the soup! It was rich, savory, and a total standout--way better than just a standard miso soup. Whether you're looking for a quick and convenient pickup via DoorDash, or you want to dine in and enjoy the sleek, modern ambiance, Uyshiya is a must-try. If you want maximum flavor and volume without breaking the bank, this bento box is the move. Highly recommend for any Japanese BBQ lover!

Yelp
Came here for lunch on the weekend. It wasn't too busy surprisingly but then it got much busier. However, service was top notch, always bringing our orders, changing the grill and refilling drinks Lots of good quality meats. However, since we ordered so much meat (group of 6), we didn't know what meats were what as there were no labels. It was a bit difficult to reorder the meats we liked, but eventually we got it. They also have delicious sides to chose from as well, from chicken karaage to dumplings to miso eggplant and miso soup. There's a large parking lot here but since it's in a busy plaza with other restaurants parking can be hard to find.

Yelp
The meat quality was okay. The Wagyu slices were a bit too thin in my opinion and a lot of the meat kept sticking to the grill. Overall it was an alright experience but I actually liked the marinated meats more. The sides like takoyaki and the fried items were surprisingly tasty and I ended up eating way more of those than the meat haha. There's plenty of parking right in front since it's in a plaza but this meat place is in its own building. I went right when they opened so there was no wait but it can get really busy on weekends during prime time so it's better to go early or make a reservation.

Yelp
First time at Ushiya and wow--what a feast! Their all-you-can-eat Japanese BBQ lets you grill your own meats, and it's as fun with friends as it is flavorful. From marbled cuts to savory marinades, every bite was sizzling perfection. The vibe? Energetic and welcoming, with staff who keep the plates coming and the grill hot and clean. Great for groups, date nights, or anyone craving hands-on dining with bold flavors. Can't wait to go back and try even more!

Yelp
Yakiniku is a lot more rare than its Korean counterpart, so I was excited about finding an AYCE Japanese BBQ (with minor KBBQ influence) to go to after a morning of fishing. Ushiya Grill is relatively new, so I think they've tweaked a few things since my visit. Currently, their basic menu is $35/pp and the premium menu with wagyu is $55/pp. I opted for the basic menu like I usually do on my first visit to an AYCE because meat is meat. Good * Meat quality is solid and marinades are good (spicy here means drizzled with gochujang). * Food comes out fast, and service is solid. * The fruit soy and miso sauces on the table are tasty. * Soy marinaded meats are flavored well; sweet soy finger rib was our favorite cut. * Very popular and busy, but seems to have a shorter wait time than other AYCE places in the bay, and usage of Yelp waitlist and reservations. * Reasonable price for AYCE yakiniku. Bad * They may forget an order submission, or forget to tell you it's out of stock. * Paper menu differs from what they actually offer on the QR code you use to order from phone, so it's hard to plan for what to eat, and several items listed on the paper menu were not available. * Water is room temperature and basically tap water flavored with a lemon slice. * Rice is questionably dirty, hard, dry, and clumped up. * Appetizers are budget versions. * The thinner cuts have a tendency to stick to the grill. The complaints are only minor, and I'd enjoy coming here again. It's located in the center of a spacious plaza with a lot of parking and other Asian restaurants and tea.

Yelp
We found out about this place when they were literally starting to accept customers. It was not cheap but also they advertised ayce wagyu for $55. We came in without expectations but pleasantly surprised! The servers were prompt at getting the meats out as they have a time limit like most:Their grill gets pretty hot therefore we are able to just have the fatty cuts only kiss the grill a little bit. Unlike other places where it doesnt get hot enough and the fat does not get rendered! Wish they have the names of the cuts when they take the meat out. Often times were googling and guessing. i have had better quality wagyu but still also better than most! for the prize id definitely go back.

Yelp
This was a 10/10 experience for me. We dined around noon on a weekday and were greeted and seated right away as there was no line/wait. They do have a waitlist tablet by the door so that is an option for busier hours and larger parties. I liked how we were able to place our orders through a QR link so we didn't have to wait or flag our servers at any point during our meal. The service was very quick and efficient once we placed our orders. They also took away empty plates right away to clear our table. Our server attended to our table and was able to change our grill 4 times when she noticed it was time for a grill change. She was very kind and checked up on our table asking if we needed any more utensils or drinks. The meat we ate was amazing. I loved the premium selection on the menu. Each bite was so tender and flavorful. The dipping sauces were a great addition to the grilled meat. I love this restaurant and would recommend anyone in the Bay Area to stop by for a good selection of AYCE meat! I left full and satisfied with everything here :) Our bill came to be around $144 with 20% tip! Overall, we knew we got our moneys worth here. Come with an empty stomach so you can take advantage of the menu! This place is worth it.

Yelp
This restaurant is kind of new, but I have already been here like two times because it's just that good and especially for the price that you're paying for all you can eat Wagyu. I like to call ahead to make reservation for the weekend just to avoid the wait. It can get really busy on the weekends. The food here is really good and I really enjoy all the type of meats they have. My family really likes this place a lot too, which is very surprising to me because they rarely eat out. The restaurant is a little bit on the smaller side so it can get quite loud but service is really quick because you order everything with a QR code on your phone!

Yelp
My come away from visiting Ushiya was that I need to visit again, but also need to try the wagyu tier. First impressions were that it's was a bit more greasy and unclean than I had anticipated. I know it's AYCE BBQ, but it's also Japanese and it was more unclean than most of any other AY E BBQ places. The service, good--standard. They do stations, so my beer (which came in a plastic cup :( ) took a while longer while the meats were quick. The food was good. I enjoy the smaller portions. Be quick with cooking because it burns fast. Overall, experience was fine, but I did feel like the little things could have made the experience that much better, like actual glass cups for beer and maybe wipe the tables down a bit better so it's not as greasy?

Yelp
So delicious! Friendly, fast service paired with excellent quality meat. We opted for the premium menu, which is definitely pricier but I think worth it for the wagyu quality. I only tried meats from the premium menu (except for brisket which was pretty good), so I can't really speak to the signature menu's quality. Every piece we ordered was very tender, but my favorites were definitely the premium tongue center and the wagyu short rib. Their tongue cuts are a little bit on the thicker end than I'm used to, which I actually kinda like because it was still quite tender. You order on your phone which makes it super easy, and the service is quick at bringing out the dishes. I also appreciated that the portion sizes for each meat order were on the smaller side, allowing us to try more variety without over-ordering. Since I went as a party of two, this was especially great. For appetizers and sides, the miso eggplant was fantastic. I didn't expect a whole eggplant, and I loved the smoky char from the grill. The takoyaki was crispy and while it could have used a little bit more octopus, I honestly did not mind considering how much meat we already had. The kimchi was crunchy and fresh as well. I would love if they offered rice paper or a small dessert like ice cream, but at least I saved on carbs! Made a reservation for weekend lunch and it was easy to get seated (although quite packed). I think dinner time is even busier but they do have yelp waitlist which is a plus.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised with only about a 5-minute wait. Once seated, we ordered through the QR code, and the food came out almost instantly. We went with the signature menu, which offered a solid variety of meats and some seafood. Everything was seasoned well and full of flavor. I especially appreciated the wide range of sides and appetizers included with the menu! The restaurant was clean and staff were friendly and attentive. Overall, it was a great experience. I highly recommend if you're in the area and craving some quality BBQ!

Yelp
Tried Ushiya for the first time and wow... it was so good! We got there right before they opened, so we were lucky to snag seats before the dinner rush hit. We went for the premium tier ($55 per person) since it included a lot more wagyu cuts. The brisket? Absolute favorite -- it literally melted in our mouths. They also serve plenty of appetizers like chicken karaage, fries, gyoza, and more. Plus, all the non-alcoholic drinks are included in the price, which was such a nice bonus. You also get to order on your phone, so no need to wait on your server! I'd definitely recommend checking this place out! The pricing feels pretty affordable if you're looking to splurge a little, and honestly, it's worth every bite.

Yelp
Ambiance: Ambiance is standard, much like any other BBQ place, it can get a little bit loud sometimes. But the volume level overall is pretty low compared to other BBQ spots I have been to. Service: Service is speedy, diligent, and attentive. 10/10. Meats: A lot of the meats here are very high quality, especially when it comes to the wagyu meats on the premium menu. I honestly would recommend going premium. The cuts of meats like the Harami skirt, hanging tender, and Zabuton are some of the best meats I have had at an ACYE BBQ spot. They even have wagyu yukke that my girlfriend really enjoys. (It comes out a little icy sometimes, but if you let it dethaw, it is so soft and smooth). Appetizers: I will say that usually when I go to a BBQ spot, I don't care so much about the appetizers. But, the appetizers here are ACYE and they are actually pretty well rounded. Some of the portion sizes are smaller, but that is okay considering you can order however many you like. Drinks: Soft drinks are all you can drink here! Time: At the end of ACYE BBQ, I was pretty full at the end of my time here as well, but I do wish they would give a little bit more time than 90 minutes.

Yelp
Ushiya is the newest go to spot for ayce bbq! There was barely a wait and my party got seated really quickly. Staff were super friendly and attentive. My favorite was the pork jowl! The pork jowl here is my favorite compared to other ayce bbq. It was not too chewy and was super tender and had the right amount of fat. On the other hand, the brisket was okay. I like my meats with a lot of fat, and the brisket here is super lean. 10/10 would recommend this place for ayce!

Yelp
AMAZING KBBQ SPOT. I came here with my boyfriend to celebrate and we been dying to try this place. The wait was incredibly long and I suggest going on yelp to put your name down. They were extremely busy and they ran out of shot glasses and menus really fast but the server starts you off and then you order through your phone the rest of the 90 minutes. Even though it was busy, the service was great. The servers, hosts and runners were very accommodating. The tables were spaced out and food came out in a timely manner. Very cute place. We got the upgraded choice to get the wagyu cuts and so worth it. The meat is tender and soft. The sauces really complimented the meat. I LOVED the sides. Usually I won't get sides at kbbq because I just want the meats but so worth trying and next time, I'd probably get more. The takoyaki was so crispy and soft in the center. Most of the times I've had takoyaki its so mushy but this one was fantastic. I think this place is worth the wait and the hype. I'd def come here again!

Yelp
One of my new favorite places for ayce bbq! I always get the premium menu and order the short rib, strip loin, and brisket. The meats are all tender and pair well with the sauces on the table (fruit soy & miso). I also like that soda is included in the meal, as well as karaage and fried squid. I do wish there were other refreshing side options other than kimchi and radish wrap. Service is quick and attentive since you order on your phone!

Yelp
Food quality was actually one of the best in the bay for its price. Good variety of meats with quality cuts plus appetizers are surprising pretty good. No sauce bar but had really good brisket sauce and fruity soy sauce. I couldn't give it a 5 star cause of the overall cooking experience. We had a party of 6 and they put us in a booth. I felt so crammed that I had no room to move my arms so it was especially difficult to cook. They have a little extension on the table which is nice but the sitting area still wasent enough. Now the grill. It was difficult for our group to cook. With 6 people the grill is pretty small. We could hardly cook any food at a time plus there is also a time limit. We also had problems with our grill igniting. The heat kept on turning off and we had to call our server over multiple times. They finally decided to clean out the bottom of the grill but when they did that they lifted our grill up with the raw meat and was holding it over our table with raw meat juices dripping into the water cups + appetizer food

Yelp
I came here on a Friday night for AYCE, and their beef options were incredible. There were a few orders that were SO good but the servers don't announce what they drop off, I guess we'll have to reorder everything again next time. Their appetizers were also impressive, the Takoyaki was one of my favorites, I'd pass on the popcorn chicken. Anyways, I definitely recommend y'all stopby and try them out when you're in the area

Yelp
What's the point of high quality meat at a bbq joint if the grill is not hot enough to cook it? From the moment we started cooking our meat, the flame alternated erratically between high and low, significantly slowing down the cooking process. We brought this to the attention of a busboy, who simply shrugged and wandered off. Our waiter's attempt to resolve the issue involved turning the unit off and on again. He then dismissively stated that the flame sometimes "flares up with fat" before walking away. Regrettably, the problem persisted throughout our entire meal, making it a frustrating and drawn-out experience. The unreliable flame meant our meat cooked incredibly slowly and unevenly. Despite the grilling woes, we did find the quality of the meat to be superior to what we've experienced at Gen Korean BBQ. It's hard to say if Japanese BBQ just gives better cuts, or if it simply reflects a higher-tier offering. The price point was comparable, perhaps a few bucks more, but the service was noticeably faster. We appreciated the phone based ordering system, which meant our meat arrived quickly, a welcome change from the long waits and need to flag down a waiter that often come with the slow paced service at places like Gen. If we go back here, we'll avoid table 24. And maybe we'll get the premium. For $20 more pp, hopefully the meat will be even more mind blowingly marbled and marinated. Now, if we can only get a working grill hot enough to cook it....

Yelp
Noticed there is a new BBQ spot in North Milpitas and decided to give it a try. For those familiar with the area, Ushiya Grill is at the old TK Noodle location before it moved across the street. I put my name on the waitlist through Yelp, but when we arrived, the host let us know we also needed to check in at the front or we wouldn't be seated. It's something that's easy to miss and you could be waiting outside all night, so just a heads up. Once seated, we ordered through a QR code on our phones. The process was smooth and food started arriving quickly. Service was fast and attentive staff and did grill changes and refilled soda upon request. The meats and sides were high quality, and everything came out in good portions. In terms of value, I would place Ushiya between Gen and premium KBBQ spots. The quality of the meat is definitely better quality than Gen, but definitely not as pricey as the premium KBBQ spots. There was a surprisingly short wait, even on a weekend evening. The space is very clean and modern. The layout is still the same as TK Noodle with the booths, but they added ventilation and grills during the renovation. Overall a great new addition to the neighborhood. Solid food, fast service, and a good value.

Yelp
I had a fantastic meal here last night at Ushiya with a friend. At the time of this review 07/16/25, there's some asphalt work being done to the parking area surrounding this restaurant so you gotta park a little far and walk a bit through the caution tape. On the plus side, didn't have to wait at all for a table during peak dinner time without a reservation. They make good use of the interior -- ample amount of booths, easy to see the restaurant at every angle to find the workers, no smoke being missed in suction. There were two menu options - the standard and premium. The later had Wagyu meat options and that's what we went with. Waiter took our initial order then used the QR code to order more via the Chowbus link. Proud to say we tried all 18 beef meats (and some doubles!) of the Wagyu menu along with a few sides. My favorite meats were the limited Wagyu short ribs, Wagyu finger ribs, and the zabuton. Great marbling on everything, fatty and tender, punchy beefy flavor throughout. Love that they give you a bowl of table kosher salt & pepper on the side. Meat was so good, I barely used my sauces. There wasn't a cut I didn't like. Some critiques: limited soda and beverage options, grill design makes it a tad difficult to cook the thinner slices of meats as it'll get stuck a bit in the nooks and crannies, fire is super close to the meat leading to easy flare ups. At roughly $70/pp after tax and tip, it's a good value for premium AYCE. Definitely would return again. Pro tip: lower the gas level a tad before cooking. This allows you to have 2-zone heating in a ring format. Inner ring would be cooking surface, meats can rest on the outer ring. I caught on and adjusted after cooking the brisket. After that, it was smooth sailing. Pro tip 2: the fire is super hot and again, super close to the cooking surface so you don't wanna get distracted. One person should man the grill and be on the lookout at all times. Easy to burn food.

Yelp
The wait for this restaurant on a Friday night was about an hour and a half. Luckily I was able to join the waitlist at a good time. We were sat as soon as the table was ready. The time limit for ayce is 90 minutes. As soon as we were seated, our timer started. Unfortunately 15 minutes passed before a server checked in on our party and opened the online ordering for our table. The sides and meat came pretty quickly. However our drinks were delayed by 15-20 additional minutes. We had to flag multiple staff members for our drinks. The dining area was pretty big and the space was very clean. Unfortunately I don't think their a/c was on this day so it was very warm inside. The quality of the premium selection meats were top notch. The meat was excellent. I would fully take advantage of ordering the seasonal wagyu selections. The grill and open flame provided nice sear for the meat. The sides were tasty and the brisket sauce was excellent. The service could have been a little better, but the quality of the food is well worth.

Yelp
On a Wednesday evening, I was really craving yakiniku so, along with a group of friends, I went to Ushiya. I had gone to ushiya closer to when it had first opened and still had a lot of hype and loved my time there. However, this time was not nearly as good. The meat quality wasn't all the same, and the grills didn't even sit flush above the flame as they have been warped significantly over time. This leads to a lot of the meat cooking unevenly as the surface of the grill is completely uneven. One plus is that there was basically no wait time at all for a party of 6, but that doesn't make up for the drop in quality. Overall, I would probably skip this option from now on as there are a lot of newer options that may be better for the price.

Yelp
Good value AYCE Japanese bbq spot!! The meat quality is actually pretty good and it is only $35 for AYCE per person on the signature menu (standard) and $55 for premium AYCE (wagyu). The wagyu has nice marbling and the signature meats are good too! I really like the salt they give you to dip the meat in. The servers can get pretty busy but are super nice if you ask them for anything you need. I love that they don't turn off your flame after the time limit is up - you can keep eating !

Yelp
Shout out to my sister and cousin for taking me out to dinner and ensuring this mama got a little bit of "me" time away from my little monster. The girl's had gone to Ushiya Grill just the week prior and couldn't help but rave & rave about this place. With me being an obvious fan of AYCE & KBBQ, they were adamant about me giving JBBQ a try! Let me start off by emphasizing how quickly this place fills up for dinner. Plan accordingly and place yourself on the waitlist as early as possible or else be prepared to be patient. Our party of 3 lucked out and was seated within 5 minutes or so. Here's where our luck began to take a slump- our server [younger gentleman] wasn't very welcome, helpful, or useful from start to finish. He kept directing us to the QR code for viewing of items and placing orders via phone. When asked if we could place our initial order with him, he kept going around in circles and insisted on us self ordering. No, it wasn't a big deal to place orders ourselves but the initial visit my girls' had just did things a lot different. The rest of the meal kind of went in that same kind of manner & lacking in service from his part. When we needed napkins or wanted to make any kind of request, he was no where to be found. On a number of occasions, we had to inconvenience a bus boy who had issues navigating English- shout out to him for being so kind and helpful. Aside from seeing his face pass through the restaurant from time to time, he only really came to us when he handed over the tab. Food: The offerings are broken down into 2 options. You can go with the SIGNATURE AYCE menu for $35/person or go with the PREMIUM AYCE menu for $55/person. The premium list is all Wagyu and with this option, you are also allowed to order from the signature dishes as well. Meats were good. Food was plentiful and I was highly impressed by how fast our orders of meat were coming out. Ushiya Grill definitely doesn't leave you hanging when it comes to its protein. This place easily deserves a solid 4/4.5 star rating if we were just considering the food & cost. My biggest disappointment when it came to our meal was the super salty agedashi tofu and the server who must have been part magician because he sure was good as disappearing. 3 star rating for my first experience here.

Yelp
I'm not typically a fan of ayce places, but Ushiya Grill totally won me over -- everything was delicious, I couldn't stop eating lol. What makes it even better? You order everything right from your phone, so you can just focus on what you came for... to EAT. I'm keeping this review short and sweet: just GO. You won't regret it.

Yelp
I came here to try this place out. I made the drive and upon arrival waited 5-10 minutes to he greeted me finally the guy asked how can I help you. I said table for 1 please. He replied "we don't serve one only 2" I laughed and thought he was joking. He said sorry you can't eat here. I was shocked and still thought he was joking. I said are you serious he said yes. I asked him why I can't eat here he replied " I'm not sure" and laughed in my face with his mask on! I asked again if he serious and said sorry you can't eat here alone. I never felt disrespected like this in a weird way. I asked him 3 times why and everytime he laughed and said have a nice day after that.

Yelp
I had my birthday lunch here, and it was good! We chose to do the premium option, and we enjoyed a lot of the meat options you can pick from. The quality of the meat also was really good and fresh. I wouldn't recommend some of the sides, though, such as the takoyaki, just because it's only breading and no octopus inside, or at least in my order, it didn't have any. The service would be my only complaint, as we submitted orders multiple times and never got them. The servers also don't do a good job of actively checking on guests from what I saw. Overall, great meat quality and a good variety of options. I hope to come back, and hopefully, the service can improve so I can give them a 5-star rating when I return.

Yelp
This spot is still banging! Get the premium menu, definitely worth it and best price in town! Love the quality, fast friendly service, and variety of options! I dine here atleast once a month and always leave satisfied.

Yelp
Great quality meats for a value AYCE meal! (We did signature $35) and it was very easy to place our orders. Each time you can order 6 items every 6 minutes through a QR code. The meats came out quickly and everything we ordered was fresh! It can get a little noisy inside and most tables are structured for 4 people or less but there are a few for larger parties. It's a great location and we'll definitely be back!

Yelp
With the Chubby Cattle empire taking over SoCal, I'm surprised that NorCal doesn't have an equivalent of one yet (though I do know that a Mikiya exists), but if you want your wagyu ayce BBQ needs settled, this is the place the to go! The plaza is disgustingly busy, since there's so many eateries there, so depending on the night, you may have to circle a couple times. My boyfriend put our party of 3 on a waitlist and we had to wait around 8:15 PM to be seated but in the mean time we were doing something else, which was perfect. I know there was a slew of chairs in the lobby waiting area for people to wait at. Compared to other wagyu AYCE places that I've seen (Chubby Cattle, Hibiki in SoCal, it's not very decorated), outside from the waiting area wall behind the cashier, some of the door walkways, and what's hanging from the ceilings. Though, I guess that makes sense since they're trying to pack as many people in. Everything is ordered via a QR code at the table and you keep adding it to your check out cart. It's limited 6 items per round, but they come out pretty quickly. We were also able to flag down servers for when we needed more water or sauces. Our grill plate was also changed throughout the night, however, it was swapped to a disposable one. Makes sense since it probably takes an eternity to wash the original ones. All of us did the Signature Menu, which was $35.99. Not bad for AYCE, especially if it's wagyu, AND in the Bay Area. We ordered almost 1 of everything except for the chicken and thicker cuts as we were close to the last call for orders and closing. Big fan of the differently flavored beef shoulder cuts and the intestines aren't bad (bf is a big fan). The other cuts weren't bad either, ranging from tender shoulder, pork collar steak, and the thin pork belly. Brisket is brisket no matter where you get it, but I did notice that the second order had way more slices than the first, but overall, no big deal since it shrunk very, very small. Before coming here we were gazing through the menu and we were planning on ordering the wasabi mayo cabbage salad, the sesonal veggie namul, and some other dishes, but they weren't available on the app, so I guess those will come later. As for appetizers we did get, the takoyaki came out room temperature (meh...), chicken karaage was decent, and you can never go wrong with corn cheese or their veggie pancake. I think my only other issue was how oily and slippery random parts of the restaurant were, like where I was sitting even before I got there. Could easily get game ended. In a world of the Chubby Cattle Empire, this isn't a bad stop, especially at the price point.

Yelp
Came here at lunch time on a Friday and the place is not busy. The real entrance is actually in the back which is kinda weird because all the handicap parking spots are in front. The interior is kinda basic and dark. Some spots of the floor were greasy, so please be careful. The three of us went with the signature menu. We tried a variety of meats: Thin Cut Beef Brisket, Spicy Miso Beef Shoulder Cut, Garlic Beef Belly, Ushiya Signature Sauced Top Blade, Salt and Pepper Finger Rib, Pork Jowl, Garlic Pork Belly, and Salt and Pepper Shrimp. We also got their Clam Miso Soup, Lettuce Wrap, and Agedashi Tofu. Food was ordered using a QR code and came out rather quickly. As other yelpers have pointed out, they do not label their meats and do not at least tell you what they are when they deliver your order. I took pictures and asked the waitress. Service was okay, it wasn't hard to flag our waitress down since it wasn't busy. The Spicy Miso Beef was tasty but not spicy at all. I liked the Garlic Beef Belly, the Pork Jowl, the Salt and Pepper Finger Rib, and the Salt and Pepper Shrimp. The Agedashi Tofu was also very good. Overall meat quality was average. Being from Las Vegas where there are several very decent AYCE BBQ restaurants, this is not quite at the same level.

Yelp
From the moment we sat down, the service was attentive and quick. The real star, though? The premium set ($55 per person). The premium set had lots of wagyu cuts. I usually love brisket, but when it comes to wagyu, the ultimate choice had to be the Wagyu short rib due to its tenderness, packed with flavor. You can taste the quality in every bite. The other meats were okay, I didn't feel like Ushiya lived up to the hype. They offer a great variety beyond just wagyu too--appetizers like karage chicken and takoyakj as well as vegetables to grill like zucchini and mushroom. These complement the meal well, but was mediocre. The takoyaki was mushy and lacked octopus. The chicken karage was slightly dry. One of the things I would hope to see is more variety of sauces and veggies. Nonetheless, I thought this place was a good choice for my family and I to try, but I don't think it'll be our first choice for wagyu.

Yelp
Came here twice in one week because it was SOOO GOOD I had to come back for more. Got the premium both times so I can't speak for the signature menu but the wagyu harami skirt steak and wagyu zabuton were some of my faves aside from brisket, tongue and beef intestine. The zabuton was a thick cut of beef that was so tender like filet mignon, wish I discovered it before the tail-end of the meal lol so soooo good. Some AYCE bbq places have low quality appetizers but not here, the appetizers were actually tasty and worth getting. The appetizers I'd recommend as a must-order would be the squid kaarage and tako wasabi. The chicken kaarage, takoyaki and gyoza were good as well. Miso clam soup was alright, came out lukewarm and had one clam in it. Definitely get the sauce combo (jalapeño, garlic and ssamjang). Make reservations ahead of time if possible. If not, join the Yelp waitlist, which is very helpful so you can follow your spot on the list. On Father's Day, I joined the waitlist around 4 pm and was seated at 6 pm lol. Don't make the mistake of coming without checking the Yelp waitlist. The only negative about this place is you can feel a bit rushed. 1.5 hour sitting time seems a bit lame and short, and they'll make sure to do last call and bring out the bill right when your time is up lol. Thankfully they brought out the meat really quickly, much faster than the appetizers during my experience. Good service and music. Great ventilation system, my dad was very impressed that it wasn't smoky lol. 10/10 recommend, this will be my new spot when I want to indulge!!!

Yelp
We came around dinner time, so it was pretty busy. Thankfully, there was a spare table available, so we were seated quickly. When you're seated, you choose between which menu you'd like, and then they'll activate the QR code for you to use. You'll be ordering your selections through the QR code (up to 6 meat orders per every 6 minutes), and the food is brought out pretty quickly. They'll also very quickly whisk away any empty plates, bring out a replacement water pitcher, and change grills! Astoundingly good service, though it'd be nice if they pointed which meats were which, since it became a mystery game of "I wonder what this tasty meat nugget is so I can over-order it." We ordered a lot of different things - the wagyu brisket, shoulder cut, tongue center, short rib, harami skirt, zabuton, sirloin, garlic beef belly, gyoza, cheese corn, and veggie croquettes. We really enjoyed the short rib, and ended up re-ordering it the most. We didn't particularly like the brisket, nor the harami skirt, but the others were absolutely delectable. The cheese corn was pretty decent! It's a relatively large serving, so it'll command a fair amount of grill space. The gyoza comes with mayo on top, but was fairly good as well. Probably wouldn't order it again, though, since it's a little heavy. The veggie croquettes are the true kings of the non-meat appetizers: with a drizzle of mayo and possibly okonomiyaki sauce, this deep fried treat will fill you up, but they're so tasty, it'd be hard to regret picking some up.

Yelp
Food quality is decent for the price for ayce kbbq! Got the premium menu $55/person, and food comes out quick. The cheaper option is $35/person, but the beef quality is not as good. The service is great since they check up on you and you can easily flag a server down. The place is clean and well organized and ambiance is perfect for a gathering of 4. The only complaint I have is the water! It is so tappy and metallic that my party had to order soda, but even their ice is bad. Please change water filter so people can drink water freely, and adding lemon can't mask the taste. Maybe they did it intentional so people can order drinks. Either way, don't drink the water!

Yelp
Went to Ushiya Grill with a group of four and had a great time. We ordered the Premium set ($55 per person) and for what you get, it's honestly a solid deal. The standouts were the wagyu brisket, pork belly, and short ribs--all super tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. We also split a pitcher of beer, which was a great add-on and paired really well with the meats. The beef tongue wasn't really for me--not bad, just not something I'd order again. The spot is pretty small, but the dark, clean ambiance makes it feel cozy. It's definitely a nice place to eat in a group setting--plenty of laughs, good food, and a relaxed vibe. We came during the last hour before closing and the staff was super friendly and didn't rush us at all.

Yelp
This rating would be a 3.5. I love that JBBQ is getting its recognition now. Loved the Japanese sounds that were blasting at this place, they were certified anime bangers. IMO I think getting the regular menu is more than enough. I do appreciate how this restaurant still offers some Korean cuts as well such as pork jowl. I thought that their jowl was cut alittle too thin and short though when it's a fatty and meaty piece at the same time. Some cuts had really good marbling while some cuts were tough/chewy. I liked that they offered intestines because I don't know a lot of AYCE places that offer it besides yakiniku. Service was good, the waitress we had took good care of us. I would honestly say that their side dishes are really good. Loved getting the tofu and fried croquette. I wish they offered udon so you can make your own tempura udon!

Yelp
Opted for the premium tier menu because I was excited for Wagyu. And I really wanted to like this place. But something about it just fell flat. I felt like almost none of the meats we ordered were marbled or tender enough to be considered wagyu. It almost looked like we had the bottom of the barrel pieces of meats, and some of which had an unexpected amount of gristle. Definitely not what I would expect from something labeled as Wagyu. I did however like that they provided a side of salt and pepper for you to flavor to your liking. But I didn't like how some dishes already came with a heavy hand of black pepper. I tried to order a side of lettuce several times, even told 2 different wait staff that I was still waiting on it because I didn't want to keep trying to order it through the app. Finally after a 3rd time we were told that they were out of lettuce. I didn't eat as much as I expected to and the price tag for two ran around $140 (including tax/tip) a little steep for the quality we received in my opinion. To be fair my friend did mention that she had a better experience before this. I'm hoping they were just having an off day. I liked the convenience of being able to order at my own table. They have a QR code you scan and I feel like it's more convenient than having to flag down the wait staff. I think I'm going to have to wait a little while before I come back to try it again.

Yelp
Ushiya gets an extra star from me today for having AC in this 90 degree weather. We got to bbq in blissful comfort. We chose the premium menu at $55 pp. Meats were great - our favorites were the brisket and tongue. Everything cooked quickly. Good selection of appetizers and accompaniments - recommend getting the lettuce and radish wraps to cut down on the greasiness of the meat. Loved ordering via QR code - aside from the lettuce wrap, everything else arrived speedily. Didn't take too long for grill changes either. Can definitely get your money's worth eating here.

Yelp
I've been seeing this place all over social media so I was excited to finally try it. We made a reservation for four on a Sunday at 4:30 PM in order to beat the dinner crowd. *Note* the next available time wasn't until 8 PM. So yeah, it's definitely popular. We got seated right away. Everything is ordered through a QR code so there's no dedicated server. A staff member came by fairly quickly once we were seated to explain how it all works. We went with the $55 per person AYCE option, which includes American and Aussie Wagyu, plus everything from the $35 Angus Prime/Choice menu. If you're into delicious meat, it's worth it! The meat quality was better than expected, but portions were pretty small so we found ourselves ordering constantly. Since grilling takes a bit of time and there's a 90-minute limit, you really have to stay on top of it if you want to make the most of it. Rough estimate - it took about 5-10 minutes to receive an order once placed. The trays come out in bulk. Even without a dedicated server, service was super efficient. Raise your hand and someone shows up pretty quickly. Food and drinks came out relatively fast. In fact, so fast that we weren't even sure if we were missing anything because the trays just kept coming. The staff knows their stuff when it comes to the cuts and they're happy to explain IF you ask. That said, I wish they'd label the trays somehow (like 10 Butchers!). We ended up with about 10 different plates of meat stacked in front of us at any given time with no clue what was what. Something simple like a name tag or printed card would help a lot. Maybe even a visual guide. As our 90 minutes were wrapping up, one of the staff gave us a heads-up that last call was coming soon and later came back with the check. No pressure. Simply a polite reminder which was nice (as compared to Mikiya). The total came out to $253.77 for the four of us, including the AYCE and one bottle of soju. Would I come back? Probably. But just for a special night out. It's a fun experience and the meat quality is great, but the hype made me expect a little more for the price. TLDR: * Super fast and responsive service *Food and drinks come out quick * Great quality meat and solid selection * Small portions = more time grilling, less time eating * Would be helpful if meat trays were labeled I couldn't upload and label every single cut for obvious reasons, but hopefully this gives you a good idea of the portion sizes and helps set expectations

Yelp
I came in for KBBQ and ended up having one of the best dining experiences thanks to Fonda! She was super friendly from the moment we sat down--constantly checking on us, making sure the grill was perfect, and bringing out everything fast and fresh. What really stood out was how patient she was. Even when our table kept asking for extra sides and refills, she handled it with a smile and made us feel taken care of the entire time. The place was packed, but she never skipped a beat. Great food, great vibes, and amazing service by Fonda. If you ever come here, definitely ask for her--she'll make your night 10x better. Highly recommend!

Yelp
What initially caught my eye about this Japanese (Korean-leaning) AYCE bbq spot was that they offer wagyu on their premium menu. I didn't read the fine print until I was already eating, that the wagyu they offer is actually American & Australian wagyu. So while the quality is better than the average beef, it is no were near comparable to Japanese wagyu. Just something to keep in mind as there's like a $20 price different between their regular and premium menu. I personally don't feel like the price difference is worth it, but overall its a solid spot. You do the majority of your ordering through a QR code located at the table, and there are actually more options offered than what is written on the physical paper menu they hand you initially. They have quite extensive menu, so lots of options for appetizers, meat, and sides to choose from. Fountain drinks are also included. Once you order, they deliver the food pretty quickly, but one thing I didn't love is that they just drop the plates on the table without a word. So we basically had no idea what we were eating most of the time, and didn't know how to re-order meats we really liked. If they could at least include pictures in the online menu, it would be super helpful. Another thing to note is that the grills here aren't the best. They're gas powered with a stainless steel grate on top, so unless the meat was directly in the middle it took a while to cook. The holes in the grate are kind of large, so the grill doesn't conduct heat well. And one of the meats we got was cut into little strips and we had a bunch fall through. The only plus side is that we didn't have to do a grill change as there was less surface area to get stuck on. They also don't have overhead ventilation (maybe it gets sucked downward?), so it can be a bit smokey inside. I'm glad I tried this spot, but there are other ayce bbq spots I would rather go to.

Yelp
New establishment, clean, neat, Fast service with great energy and positive attitude. Lots of quality of meat selection, love the open fire grill yields extra fav. Enough food and side dishes for all. Table is wide enough for our non stop constant orders. Will definitely go back and refer to friends. QR code order with phone was easy but best to have pictures like in Japan for people like me who can't tell between shoulder vs belly vs blade vs sirloin.

Yelp
*LOCATION* This is a new ACYE Japanese bbq restaurant, conveniently located in a decent-sized plaza with free parking. There's several other restaurants and shops that share the same lot. *WAIT TIME* Hubs and I actually visited a few weeks ago when it first opened! We had heard that the line can be super crazy during peak times so we decided to visit for a randomly early dinner on a Saturday ~4pm. It was still pretty packed inside but the wait was only ~10 minutes for the two of us. *FOOD* We opted to try the premium wagyu menu that's $55/person. This was our first time here so we had expected the waiter to go through the menu with us but he just told us to look at the tablet. We looked through the tablet at the various menu items and saw that non-alcoholic beverages were included! We placed our first order for a few meats, 2 sodas and 2 beers. -Meats: some of the meats were chunky and unevenly cut, wagyu should always be in slices that show off the marbling! -Appetizers: raw meat was half frozen, cheese corn was just ok, eggplant was not bad but way too big, agedashi tofu was good until it got too soggy -Non-alcoholic beverages: decent selection -Beers: cheap and refreshing :) *SERVICE* The experience would have been nicer if the waiter explained the menu (and that drinks are included) and told us which meats they were bringing out each time (we literally had to guess what was what). The meats all came out quickly but a lot of them were cut into weird chunks (instead of slices), making it difficult to cook evenly. In addition, there didn't seem to be a streamlined process of who brought out what and we had to ask two different waiters for our drinks. The waiters also asked us if we had placed the drink orders on the tablet, which we had already done in the beginning! *AMBIENCE* Overall, we were lowkey disappointed with this meal. For a premium wagyu experience, I would expect better service and quality of meats. For the time limit, I think the menu said 90-minute but the tablet showed 75-minutes(?), which I definitely don't think is enough time. We got lucky though because we weren't rushed at all. Our waiter actually seemed to have forgotten about us toward the end of the meal so we stayed for almost 120-minutes without anyone checking in on us. Maybe our waiter went on break because we couldn't find him at all when we were trying to get the bill. Not the best impression of this place but they're probably still trying to work things out!

Yelp
Me and my friends got the signature option and honestly it was worth it. They have a variety of meat options and each one definitely is worth a try. I highly recommend trying the side appetizers like corn cheese and chicken karaage! Service was not the fastest but also it was a Friday night so I can't blame them. The place has a high wait time because it's so good so make sure to put your time on waitlist ahead of time on Yelp!
