The dealership here is a disgrace. As a family we was not advised about the restaurant policy and found ourselves as a family walking the streets carry a baby on very dangerous roads looking for somewhere to eat. It caused anxiety and distress and cast a dark cloud over our experience. When speaking to the owner they just wanted to avoid responsibility completely from not informing us. On principle I would avoid this place at all costs. They are concerned about one thing and that's themselves.

Staying at Utasama was an absolute delight from the moment I arrived. The hosts were incredibly welcoming, radiating warmth and genuine hospitality. My room boasted a spectacular view of Lake Titicaca—waking up to that vista felt almost surreal. And the breakfast? Simply wonderful, with fresh local flavors that set the tone for a perfect day on this magical island.

Had a great two night stay stay at the family run Utasawa.||The hotel organised private boat transfer from Copacabana and donkeys on arrival to get our luggage up the steep climb to the hotel (would not recommend trying to carry it yourself at this 4000m altitude) ||The family room we booked was large with a very comfortable large king bed and amazing views ( great sunrise viewing spot from bed!). While day time temperatures were warm the room heater provided warmth in the cooler night time.||Food was good here and the family were all very friendly and helpful.||This roadless island was a great place to relax and chill out for a couple of days and enjoy mingling with donkeys, llama, alpaca etc. instead of cars and trucks.||A short walk up to the sunset side of the island takes you to Waliki Lodge & Restaurant which offered a great lunch stop with delicious food and amazing views. ||Would definitely recommend a stay of at least one night (two would be better) at Utasawa.

A truly fantastic place. This family run hotel is very charming, clean, comfortable and with great views of the lake and the island. The food at the restaurant is also good. ||Hence, I strongly recommend it. ||Just be aware that you need to climb quite a bit from the port to get to it. It’s a short 10 minute walk but at almost 3900 meters of altitude it’s recommended that you ask for help to carry your luggage.

We were recommended this place and the recommendation was absolutely right on. The rooms were warm and cozy, the bathrooms clean. Breakfast was much better than I expected. People were friendly and smiling and were helpful in everything. I would certainly recommend the place

Stayed here 1 night on the way from Puno to La Paz. Worth the effort to get up those stairs. The hostess was competent and very good with "body language" as our Spanish was poor. Wifi was good and she indicated how to get to the Inca Ruins and also where all the restaurants were to ne found. Worth climbing up to the high point for sunset drinks. Take a torch if walking at night. Lovely to see the local people walking with their donkeys (no vehicles on the island) and getting about their business. Breakfast was served in dining room and the scrambled eggs were outstanding. Portable heater in room was appreciated as the night was cold. Bed was comfortable and everything was very clean. Shower was warm, not hot but fine. Would stay here again.

Hotel ratings should be adjusted for their environments. If this hotel were in my neighborhood in San Diego, California where tourism standards are high, I would give this hotel a one, or at best a two.||||This hotel has no heating - despite the fact that the night time temperatures often fall into the 40's and even the 30's Fahrenheit. This hotel has limited hot water - which is due to the fact that the water is heated above in tanks run through solar panels. This hotel has no closet for clothes, no room safe, no phone, no tv, and so on.||||What this hotel has though- is charm, charm, charm.||||This hotel is on a small island, an island with no cars, motorcycles, or engine driven vehicles on any kind. It's in the middle of a lake that is over 12,000 feet in elevation, a lake with no ships or modern sailing vessels. Domestic donkeys and llamas roam the trails. The trails were built nearly a thousand years ago.||||This hotel offers an escape from wherever you were from to a very special place that was very special to people who lived here hundreds and thousands of years before. ||It was here that one of the few times in my life that I could hear nothing - absolutely nothing. And see absolutely nothing - except pure natural beauty.||||This place is special and this hotel enhances the aura you feel when you arrive. The room we got was like the others here, an independent unit high above the lake with incredible views of Lake Titicaca and the islands and spectacular mountains. Our room had three large picture windows on two adjacent walls that allowed us to enjoy the sunset and sunrise. But for the evening rain, we would have seen the starry sky from our room, that this place is known for.||||We were told that the hotel was up about 10 months ago. Everything appeared new and everything appeared spotlessly clean. The room furnishings were simple but exuded a charm reminiscent of mountain chalets of the Alps. The bed was small - a full or queen size, but had thick coverings to keep you warm. ||||Sonia runs the place for her family and keeps a nice restaurant and lobby near the bottom of the property, with large windows offering incredible views of the lake. The rooms are independly stacked up the hill on each side allowing each unit spectacular views. The boat dock is a few hundred feet below and a few other similar hotels can be seen to the side and below.||||Sonia provides a great breakfast and dinnner. Choices are quite limited but the offerings are really good. Her milk and juice drinks are like smoothies without the sweet sugar taste, her matte de coca has fresh, loose, whole leaves, and her trucha (locally farmed fish) is excellent and recommended. And her soups are perfect after that long day of hiking and boating across the lake.||||But caution. There is a long rather steep walk up the steps to the hotel from the boat dock. Anyone should be able to make it unless they have some medical problem. We are a couple in our later 60's and had no problem, although we took our time and breathed hard.
