I always love the decor here, has a very modern-rustic vibe with an intimate atmosphere. I sat at the bar and had the September wine dinner which was a great deal ($55 for 4 courses and wine pairings) Loved the tomato bisque and asparagus salad in particular. Good service and synergy. My plates and glasses were always promptly bussed it refilled by either tint bartender or waitstaff.

Love Uvae! One of our favorite restaurants in Chicago. Consistently excellent food, friendly service, inventive cocktails, and a warm inviting atmosphere. Also an amazing event venue! We had our wedding reception here and could not have been happier. From the planning, to the food, and wonderful service—everything was perfect!

Have been here many many times for wine and cheese tastings and always have a fabulous time. The service is always excellent and the staff takes time to educate you on the wine tastings. They’re also very flexible. I came in with a friend who doesn’t like red wine and they curated a tasting of just whites and roses for her - very thoughtful! Love coming here - highly recommend.

Great customer service. My wife ordered a bottle of wine online, but unfortunately they weren’t able to find the bottle when I arrived to pick it up. However, they were very apologetic and upgraded us to a similar, but nicer bottle that was a big hit with our dinner hosts.

Excellent unassuming hole in the wall. Paul was a gracious host and very knowledgeable (without any the pretentiousness that sometimes accompanies expertise). He walked my friend and me through a wine tasting, glass by glass. We guessed the notes in each glass and he explained the artistry behind where, how, and when the grapes are taken off the vine. I learned a lot and the wine was delicious. Very easy on the palate at an accessible price point - 4 1 oz. pours for $10 - excellent value. The cheese board was lovely and their local lavender honey is exceptional. We'll be back!

I've always had a wonderful experience at Uvae's restaurant and the Fromagerie & Tasting Room. I've popped into the fromagerie to ask for wine and cheese recommendations for dinner parties, and always walk away with something new, interesting and crowd-pleasing. Plus, their staff is friendly and price points are very accessible! Highly recommend their monthly wine & cheese club, too.

Did not feel welcome from the moment I walked in. I felt judge by the owner and the “sommelier” (lady in red sweater and bald guy) even though the 3-top that walked in after my party ordered the same thing. Once we got our bottle the “sommelier” tells my party “not that you care but you have an hour to enjoy because we have a party coming in.”Although he took care of that party that walked in after us (3top) the sommelier did not mentioned the so called large party that was coming in. Throughout the visit the owner kept making weird gestures after she looked at my party. I did not have an enjoyable visit. I love wine and I normally take my friend to local wine places to try wines. I have worked in the restaurant industry for half my life and have learned enough to know wines. So for someone to look at me and my party as if we aren’t worthy to visit their place, it’s just frustrating and I will not tolerate it. Sure Im not the clientele that you are aiming for (Caucasian) but that does not give you the right to treat your visitor any differently . Money is money and it’s worth the same no matter who it comes from. A 20 is a 20!

Google
Wonderful happy hour space! But what really makes it special is their food, specifically anything that Chef Whitney McMorris cooks. Her food is incredible and unique. Cannot wait to come back to Uvae just to enjoy her food again.

Yelp
Heard about the free Tuesday night wine tastings and decided to check it out. First of all, they have very extensive and tasteful decor (down to the water glasses which are made from the bottoms of wine bottles). The staff are super friendly as well, and happy to talk to you. For the wine tasting I attended, there was three offerings: - Thurston Wolfe PGV, 2023: 45% Viognier and 55% Pinot Gris, from the Columbia Valley - Lubanzi Cinsault, 2023: first time trying Cinsault! from South Africa - 1LT Explosivo, 2023: Vinhao (Sezão) variety from Portugal, my first time trying this as well The supplier was really nice and happy to talk about the wines. It was fun just trying new varieties I hadn't had before, and we got a little cheese board to go along with the wine. I would definitely come again! And hope to maybe try some of their different cheeses as well

Yelp
Our first night Andersonville we went to uvae, good portions of yummy dishes. We really enjoyed the mussels and the cozy atmosphere. There was a food blogger next to us with a bright light photographing all the food which was a vibe. We would absolutely go back!

Yelp
It's a cute place, comfortable. Been coming for years. The best part is if you like wine, you can choose from a large selection from around the world in a variety of sizes-- flights or choose your own adventure ! Food wise, it's good but very small portions /or value, especially if looking at octopus (see photo) or even lamb. Deficits but way ice peux /Under sized. Glad I asked about scallops and declined (3 for $34 ). I'd love to try the cheese but having to order accoutrements à la carte (or heaven forbid the $18 bread service) is just not worth it. Happy hour is a good lure but just remember that $2/shrimp or oyster isn't that great of a deal. Service and atmosphere are great. Just adjust the price point or portion size and you're golden.

Yelp
I went for the wine tasting they have in the tasting room and really enjoyed! The staff were so kind and welcoming. My server did a really good job explaining each wine that was being poured and suggesting food pairings. I tried 4 wines and I believe it was only $10, great bang for your buck. They also have complimentary tastings on Tuesdays from 6-8pm. The ambiance is a dim lit vibe and their attached to a restaurant if you want to grab food too.

Yelp
One of my favorite places here in the neighborhood! The owner is SO nice and knowledgeable. You can tell how passionate she is about her space and she's always supporting local businesses in the area too.   Happy hour: 1000% worth it.  Tastings: also 10000% worth it! We did a private tasting with our family and our sommalier was so kind/patient with our crazy family. We learned a lot and had some great wine. You can buy snacks in addition to your tasting experience. The private tasting would be such a great gift. Also, the tasting room is seperate from the restaurant and it is super cute Food: the menu is usually on rotation and you can't really go wrong with whatever you get! Every vegetarian dish I have had here has been some of my favorites (even though I am a meat eater).  The argula & fennel salad + charred rappini are very good. The portion sizes for the short ribs and lobster cakes were generous.

Yelp
We came here for Restaurant Week and ordered the menu with wine pairings! Every pairing was delicious and chosen well! And the waiter was incredibly knowledgeable about all of the notes in each wine. I'm a huge fan of beef wellington so I was a little disappointed at the portion size of the short rib wellington but it was tasty. Overall, we had an enjoyable meal!

Yelp
Industrial design meets Victorian style? Nice venue They have Saturday happy hour, catch it if you can. 2$ oyster and shrimp and 5$ spwine Duck fat fingerling: loved it! Real crispy skin and soft smooth potato inside. Smart way to cook potato. 4.5 star Beef Wellington: tried the single. Didn't know what it means by single. Means it's a mini version of it. Beef is cooked separately and have a crispy puff on top. Thought just single layer of beef or something. Kinda disappointed. Bit on the salty side. Beef is tender but a little bit dry. 3.5 star Braised pork: favorite dish tonight. The pork is so tender! Just melt in your mouth. Love the addition of apple give it a bit fruity sweet and crispy texture. 5 star Nutella crème brûlée: very thin layer of Nutella. Was worried the Nutella may be too much but can barely taste it. Good traditional crème brûlée pretty much Pretty noisy venue though. Have to get close to talk. Maybe nice for a date night Staff are nice and attentive A bit on the pricey side

Yelp
My friends and I visited this place on a Memorial Day long weekend for some drinks. We ordered a Cava during happy hour, which was shared by four people. The place has an impressive selection of wines from different countries! I cannot comment on the food as we didn't try any, but the bottle of wine was definitely good. The place has a nice patio and indoor space as well. The server was quite friendly; overall, it had a good vibe. I would try this place again if I'm in the neighborhood!

Yelp
We loved our date night at Uvae! There's a great happy hour deal for oysters and some great seating both outside as well as inside. I'm new to wine bars and the servers were very good with explaining how things would taste and gave me a sip before I would commit to an entire glass. Food was out of this world, exactly what we needed.

Karla P.

Yelp
Delicious food, the atmosphere is top notch. Their wine selection is amazing and they have 3,6, 9 oz pours which is rare. Absolutely recommend for a romantic night out or just really good food. Their lamb chops are unforgettable. Overall a great place.

Yelp
I've been a few times and each time was lovely. There's a small and intimate outdoor seating area, perfect for a Friday happy hour; which was my latest venture. Shrimp, oysters and cava specials! I added a couple if items off the regular menu to add to the spread. The marinated olives were good, but a lil spendy. Although I think I heard of an olive shortage so I'll chalk it up to that. The unpasteurized cheddar was a crowd favorite and a rare find for my husband who prefers his cheese unpasteurized. All in all, it was an excellent way to kick off the weekend. I'll add that I've dined in before specifically while on a burrata crawl and loved the atmosphere and burrata that time as well!

Yelp
Wonderful little place for dinner; small plates and nice drinks on a busy corner. We went on a Tuesday; wine tasting with bottles at retail which was a great idea for selling wine and made the experience a little more fun. Great happy hour with fresh oysters. Everything was delicious and the service was wonderful.

Yelp
The service was perfect everyone was supper sweet. I loved the out door seating and the inside was cute too for a coworker or friend meet up. Recommend their happy hour menu!!

Yelp
Wonderful food, ambiance, and service. The food was delicious- beef Wellington, pasta, fried artichokes, heirloom carrots, mussels etc. We tried everything from earth, sea and farm. Waitstaff was completely knowledgable about food and wine. It was a very dark inside- couldn't really see the menu or food but it made each bite a delicious surprise! lol

Yelp
Had our daughters wedding reception there last week. It could not have been better; the food was great - and plentiful, the rooms were beautiful and quite photogenic. And our event coordinator, Caitlin was a rockstar: she helped arrange the flowers, the cake-cutting, the champagne, Everything. She made sure everything went smoothly. Unfortunately, I have no more daughters to marry off, but I can definitely see many enjoyable dinners there in our future. Kudos to everyone involved!

Yelp
Great place for intimacy and what a great staff! From start to finish was guided with the things that were best for my experience. Thank you. Also make sure to ask about wine education!

Yelp
The best oysters I've ever tasted in Chicago! Fresh and delicious highly recommended The drinks and service are amazing too, I'm obsessed.. the third course is the best! I will definitely be back to try each of the things on the menu

Yelp
The Mother's Day brunch here was spectacular. We didn't take enough pictures to do it justice. Every variety of food you could think of for breakfast and so many desserts as well. We enjoyed the food and the service and the vibe of the whole experience. It felt quite special!

Yelp
This review is for UVAE's beach front spot AURA ON THE LAKE! This location has been many places over the years and I feel that THIS reinvention is exactly what it needed! It's a cozy place to sit outside, eat delicious food, and the drinks are spot on! They have beach blanket bingo on Wednesday's and it is simply a treat. The staff and owner were friendly and one of the servers was kind enough to help another patron by translating Spanish for them. The food was delicious and we left satisfied! I think this spot can compete well on the northside of the beach front as other locations are beginning to pop up along the beach. Very chill and wonderful spot to hang and of course, people watching! Cheers to ongoing success!

Yelp
Popped in on a Thursday early evening for drinks and snacks with a friend. Very cute space though at first I was confused about where I'd made a reservation as I passed the Uvae wine bar/store before hitting the Uvae restaurant on the corner. The weather wasn't cooperating but the outdoor seating looked comfortable and like fun people watching in this happening neighborhood. The experience itself was a bit unsteady. It was half price cocktails day so... when in Rome. But the drinks come in awkward almost mini wine glasses and were a bit on the sweet side. The staff member delivering them also had trouble with the glasses, spilling one on the table. She commented on it but neither replaced the partially lost drink not offered to clean up the space. Wine is definitely their sweet spot and it was probably our error not to take a look at that list vs the musically named cocktails. The food is yummy though tricky to navigate on multiple menus. Burrata and peach salad was our favorite. The unsteady part was the service. We were one of the first to arrive but within 30 minutes felt really rushed to get out the door. Maybe it was an issue of us not ordering a full meal but the restaurant wasn't half full in the whole time we were there. Multiple people kept asking when we wanted to order, took away menus, removed plates and pushed a bill on us. I'm guessing it may have been an attempt to keep themselves busy but it was distracting and unintentionally unwelcoming. Overall, cute, might pop in again if in the neighborhood but not a go-to. Really a 3.5 but Yelp hasn't yet offered the decimal. However, heard the associated wine shop has amazing charcuterie to-go so probably worth a stop for a hostess gift.

Yelp
Uvae actually caught us by surprise. We're new to the neighborhood so we'd never heard of their spot before but it was actually quite delightful. We got the half a dozen oysters with some wine and both orders were wonderful! The service was perfect and so was the ambiance of this establishment. Will definitely be going back!

Yelp
This is an embarrassingly *late* review - but I keep thinking about how wonderful my experience was visiting Uvae Kitchen and Wine Bar late October on a Thursday evening. First: AMBIANCE: I loved the romantic, intimate and cozy vibe as well as the seasonal decorations at the time. My partner and I arrived around 6:00pm to enjoy the Happy Hour Deal ($2 Oysters - $2 Shrimp - $5 Bubbly), which is from 5 - 6:30 Wednesday through Friday (3 - 6:30 Saturday & Sunday). Thursday evening was perfect at that time, as it was not crowded at all when we arrived (but I will tell you it became rather full before we left)! VALUE: Not bad! The Happy Hour bubbly was absolutely delicious - Los Monteros Cava Brut from Spain. I recall it because it exceeded my expectations (I generally prefer drier drinks, and happy hour deals usually are sweet / cheap, but this was *excellent* - I complimented it to the waitress and she shared that they have a special deal with the company. Phenomenal!) We even ordered a whole bottle to share at regular price after appetizers because we were so impressed. (HH Oysters were OK as well - I was a tad bit underwhelmed, but mind you I'm super picky after having some seriously hoity-toity and expensive oyster selections from coastal areas this past year, so no complaints other than possibly a shucking issue with shell bits - quality good for the value of happy hour deals though). Otherwise, regular prices honestly fit in to what you'd expect from a Chicago (Andersonville) gem! Speaking of the waitress: SERVICE was AMAZING. She was practically running the whole place herself as it got busier and busier, and still had time to chat amiably with us and groups around us. Her recommendations were were perfect - FOOD: We ended up with one dish to share from each section - Earth, Sea, Farm, and between the 2 of us, we struggled to eat everything! "Earth" was Brussel Sprouts with Pork Belly, some stand-out Shrimp and Grits from the "Sea" section (possibly my favorite!), and "Farm" was a short-ribbed Wellington (my partner's absolute favorite). Everything was amazingly delicious and had lovely unique spins on flavors. Drinks: My partner enjoyed a seasonal hot Uvae Wassail (Hot Apple Cider-based), and I had the Drunken Squirrel (Whiskey / Pumpkin Syrup / Absinthe). All in all, not a cheap outing, but we had a fantastic time. Highly recommend for special occasions, date night, happy hour, girl's night, sips and charcuterie boards. I will definitely be visiting again.

Kryssy G.

Yelp
I spent nearly 80$ (during happy hour) on one person and I can't justify coming back. Came for the octopus which was a total let down. It was abnormally too salty and only tasted good if you had everything on the plate in one bite. The other components of the dish were cooked pretty tasty. But I'd chalk it up to the ingredients rather than the dish itself. I also got their hh oysters and for someone having oysters for the first time--they were super fresh! Loved em. My only other real complaint is the size of my salad. For nearly 20$ (bc there was barely cheese, and apparently a side of cheese costs 2$ ) I got a side salad at best. Other than that, the service was great opposite the fact that the server spoke extremely fast while greeting me and unintentionally mistakenly ordered a glass of cava to my table--no problem, but it did throw me off, as I'd came in w my own beverage. Service kinda overall made me feel a tiny bit, rushed. Bc of this I was leaning towards a 2.5/3 star but the portion of the salad coupled w the over saltiness and texture of the octopus really threw me off. Maybe I'm too harsh?

Yelp
Really nice wine and small plates place in Andersonville! Really delicious drinks and mocktails. They don't have a lot of vegetarian options. What they have he OK but I'm not sure I'd come back just for those.

Yelp
Fantastic. The cava was refreshing and the various starters we had were all delicious and the service was excellent. Highly recommend their happy hour!

Yelp
Had a good meal for restaurant week at Uvae! We did the wine pairing with the restaurant week menu and definitely had fun with it! I will say to start off the salads were a bit underwhelming. My squash panzanella had two very hard pieces of bread in it and maybe five tiny pieces of squash. It was overruled by the amount of arugula in it which just felt like a cheap way to do a salad. For entrees we had the pork and the pappardelle and I would literally come back for the pappardelle alone. It was creamy, flavorful, and the noodles were cooked absolutely perfectly. We had the bread pudding for dessert which was fine, just not nearly as decadent as we would have liked. The servers did an excellent job explaining the wine pairings and gave a fair portion of wine with each course. We left feeling that we got a good experience but also weren't so overloaded with wine that we couldn't remember our meals. I will say if you are looking for somewhere intimate and romantic, the ambiance is great but the tables are extremely close together and the noise level is very high so I wouldn't recommend it for a quiet date night. We went on a weekend so that could contribute but overall would recommend Uvae for a more social night out with wine and apps!!!

Yelp
Come here for HH 5-6:30pm from Wednesday - Friday and 3-6:30 Saturday and Sunday. Does not disappoint! $2 / oyster is prob the best deal you can find! Atmosphere is perfect for a date night, catch up with friends, or even a solo evening. It's candle lit and very ~ moody ~ Service was fantastic and so was the cava bubbles. I would come here just for those two. Their food selection is quite plentiful along with their wine offerings. Do get: Oysters and any of their wine (there's a tasting room next door) Pass next time: The fries, flatbread, and duck were alright - I would probably pass on these options next time and just sick with the oysters. Prices aren't too insane, but the duck was quite dry and tough and the flatbread was a bit too crispy and hard.
google avatar

Jordan F.

Yelp
Food was great. Atmosphere was cute and not too crowded. We went for restaurant week, but only a couple of options were really worth the price and the rest didn't sound as good. We ended up getting the Wellington and the braised pork which were both tender and delicious.

Jen K.

Yelp
Food was delicious but overpriced for portion sizes. Friendly staff, service is a bit slow, ambiance is good.
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
I'm sorry but this place should not be on the restaurant week program. This is more of a wine bar than a kitchen. If we had not ordered the wine pairing menu, the rating would have been much lower. The wine pours are more than I expected, but they had to be to make up for the food. The first course was below average even with the wine pairing. The second course was in my opinion very small portions but the food was good. By the time I started to enjoy them it was gone. What saved this place was the deserts. Honestly, the none wine pairing option should not be even offered.
google avatar

Mary K.

Yelp
TL;DR: Good patio, friendly staff, try the orange wine Once I heard 45 min - 1 hour wait time for Little Bad Wolf, I walk across the street to Uvae wine bar and had a glass of wine. The staff was really friendly and knowledgable. I tired their orange wine and I really liked it. The waitress also gave me a complimentary sip of another type of orange wine since I was so interested. The food that they brought out to others both smelled and looked good. I would love to come back and try their food

Yelp
Fantastic dinner experience! We live in Wicker Park and dine out a ton. We came to the neighborhood for dinner pre- Green Mill visit. Our server, Emma was lovely. Knowledgeable and gave good recommendations. She was prompt, fun, professional and very sweet. The sourdough was delicious (with cheese course). The pappardelle was about the best I've ever had and made perfectly al dente. Nice wines, great atmosphere. You know... that place where they really know what they are doing. Sweet spot and we'll be back!
google avatar

Catherine A.

Yelp
It was a busy Friday night, but space was made for me and my friend at the bar! While they didn't have my exact order to drink the bartender Daniel gave me a great replacement! Not to mention the oysters were top notch and anyone who knows me is aware of how important that is! The ambiance is convivial and I'm excited to come back and grab a table

Rachel M.

Yelp
We used Uvae Kitchen & Wine Bar for our Rehearsal Dinner before our wedding, and couldn't recommend this place enough. We'd dined here several times before and loved the cozy vibes, attentive staff, and delicious food/wine, but this was our first larger party with them. Planning was a breeze via phone and email ahead of our event. Our party was held in the Fromagerie, which was the perfect space for our group of 25. We had drinks and some appetizers in an informal cocktail-hour style where guests could walk around, snack & sip, and enjoy everyone's company, and then had a seated dinner with six items off of the regular menu served family style. We decided against a full bar package, and instead chose to offer beer and wine based on consumption to save some money on our end. Our dinner was perfect in every way- the staff was so wonderful to us and attentive to each of our guests (and paid special attention to my husband and I, which was so sweet!), the food was incredible and perfectly portioned, and the space was perfect for all of our needs. For the size of our party, Uvae was affordable compared to a lot of other places we looked. If you are considering a party or event at Uvae, we couldn't recommend it enough!

Yelp
This review is for brunch. The Doctor and I went there for a Sunday brunch with friends. Despite not so stellar comments from folks we knew that had gone there for dinner, The Doctor and I decided to give it try for brunch. We have discovered that there are many restaurants that have split personalities when it comes to food: dinner vs brunch. I am happy to say that we have done brunch here twice and were not disappointed. First let's start with the décor. We dined inside and I have to say that the place is adorable. My initial feel was I was walking into a Victorian drawing room. The brunch menu had a nice selection of cocktails and entrees. The Queen got a Smoked Cider mocktail, but added a shot of whisky to it...pretty tasty. There were also $8 mimosas, with an interesting selection of flavors (pear & ginger, blood orange & cinnamon, and smoked honey & apple). Honestly this is not my cup of tea, but folks in my party thought they were delish. The food selection was on point. I love that they have pork on the menu, which is the best meat in the whole world and they serve it with the Chilaquiles, which was very good (so I got it both times I went there). The Queen got the Chicken and Biscuits and that was interesting. It was topped with a maple BBQ sauce. I would say it was a little too sweet for me, but The Queen loved it. The Doctor got the Pork Benedict and I had a taste of that...will get that next time I go. The first time I went for brunch they had these lovely lemon ricotta pancakes and those were the bomb. The second time we went, my BFF got their spiced pear pancakes. Again not a flavor I would go with, but my BFF cleaned his plate and he is a picky eater. Second visit instead of pancakes The Queen and I split the Duck Sliders. My only regret with this dish was splitting it with The Queen. Those were delish with a cranberry aioli. That was a lovely mix of savory and sweet and I will most definitely get that again. Service on both occasions was nice. Aaron was attentive and fun to talk to, and remembered us from our last visit. Don't remember the name of the gentleman running the cheese side of the business, The Cheese Monger (love this title!), but he was nice in answering questions I had about the cheese/wine tastings. Definitely will be going back for brunch but want to try their Happy Hour as well. Have to say this is one of the only places I have heard of that does one on a Sunday, so I will most likely have to investigate and report back.

Mark Y.

Yelp
Fantastic dinner. Landed there by happenstance as our son lives nearby. Heirloom tomato/grilled peaches/burrata salad was killer. Not usually a big risotto fan, but the sweet corn risotto nest for the scallops worked quite well. Also the mignonette with cucumber and horseradish was genius, spoken as a guy who's a bit of a mignonette snob. Thank you so much, we'll be back

Yelp
Uvae is a stupendous addition to Andersonville. I'm jealous it isn't closer to me. This is a fun place to go for both wine tastings and dinner. We were here over the summer for a Burgundy wine dinner. The wines were excellent and the instructor quite knowledgeable. As a snack before the wine dinner I had shrimp cocktail. The shrimp was good but it has Old Bay seasoning on it, which was weird. In the future I would ask them to hold off on the Old Bay. After the wine tasting we had dinner on the patio, which is along the side of the building, with good tree coverage & chill vibes. I had the Roast Duck which was phenomenal. Would definitely order again. Kelly had the pasta and enjoyed it very much. The wine list itself is unique and very reasonably priced, with lots of gems. If you don't recognize a variety ask your server, it might be your new favorite wine.

Yelp
There is now an artisan wine bar with cheese options! Paul runs that site-Cheese and wine tasting room!! Some nights they have tastings for free. Call them! Love to support local restaurants! Hang in there! You have a great deal going forward!

Yelp
The place: great outdoor space. I've actually never eaten in the main restaurant, but recently discovered the fromagerie extension, and boy is that cute. Cheeses and wines on display. Sophisticated and yet accessible vibe. Apparently they also offer some of their spaces for events ~ May keep them in mind for that. The taste: $2 oysters for happy hour makes this girl a very happy...girl. Love the sauces that accompany it. Everything else I've had here has been solid, and good enough to make me want to come back. They have a 3 part cheese flight accompanied by wine pairings for $10 a person. This was a fantastic enhancement to a chill Saturday a few weeks ago. We ended up sharing a bottle of wine with a friendly gal we met while in the fromagerie. The duck sliders 8/10. Hit the spot, a little fatty, but mostly delish. My face: contented, red cheeked from the wine. Depending on how many drinks you get or if you come for happy hour, I'd say you should expect to spend $30 a person, but I'm sure you could do it for more or less (unless you're getting entrees, then probably more with tax and tip). Uvae all the way!

Yelp
I love this space, and their menu. I've given several gift certificates for Uvae. But, I went there tonight with some friends. Two of us are disabled, visibly, and the others are over 55. When I arrived, I was told that I needed to sqoosh into another table. It was 5PM, there were literally ZERO people in there, and the quite youthful maitresse told us that I needed to go to the end of a long table and sit on an uncomfortable chair as opposed to the banquette that I was attempting to sit at. When I refused, she explained how they needed to combine the tables and I said we will be out of here within the hour, so there's no need to worry about that. Or I could leave right now and you don't have to worry about it. We ate our meal, which was not nearly as good as it was a year ago, and we left with no recognition from anyone that we had been accommodating as opposed to the hospitality group that hosted us being accommodating. Please, disabled people have so much difficulty leaving their home better yet being in a public space, and the hospitality here should be trained in it and recognize it or else they have no business doing it. Our community deserves better.

Yelp
Quaint little restaurant serving wine and foods to pair. The food was pretty average and didn't stand out except for one thing - the mussels. They were prepared in a creamy tomato base and our group unanimously chose that dish as our favorite of all the things we tried. We went for HH but ordered most things off of the regular menu. Wish their HH menu was more extensive, but still worth a try!

Yelp
So the oysters were quite good and the cava was tasty and a good deal. Wine list is good, food is good. The carrots are a bit too smoky although my wife disagrees, the cauliflower sauce needs to be thicker. The potatoes were alright but really light on duck fat flavor. The tagliatelle was quite good could pass on the octopus. Kind of a mixed picture, reasonable but you won't leave wondering when you can get there again. Service was quite good

Yelp
I am only here for the oysters ...but, seriously I am. And that is perfectly ok. I have been meaning to visit for the oyster and shrimp cocktail happy hour for a few reasons: 1. There aren't many north side locations serving up oysters, especially for happy hour and 2. I love oysters. Each oyster and piece of shrimp during happy hour is $2/each. So I did what anyone who loves oysters would do and I ordered 18 of them. Also ordered a couple of shrimp to give them a try, too. I sat outside and I will say that Uvae has a wonderful sidewalk space for outdoor dining. It's shaded and quiet and just an overall pleasant experience. Service was perfectly fine, but I had quite a simple order. The oysters were good and the size were ok. I've had some pretty massive oysters, most recently in D.C., but it's Chicago and decent ones seem hard to find anyway so I can't complain too much about this. The shrimp were tasty, too, but again, they were not jumbo or anything. I left happy and full. Will I be back for oyster happy hour? Of course! I encourage others to jump on this deal, as well. Let's be happy the oyster gods have decided to bless the North Side for an indeterminate amount of time and enjoy it while we can.

Yelp
Went to Andersonville to look around, headed north and I made my wife walk one more block...thinking there was a restaurant on the corner. We were headed to the pub across the street, but we fell into the Uvae. A perfect gem. Outstanding service by Emma. Great ambience. As mentioned below, $2 bluepoint oysters, $5 bubbly until 6:30. The highlight was a wonderful conversation with young talented Chef Whitney. Do not miss her signature salmon. She is an up-and-coming talent with her own vision...we can't wait to see what she achieves. Lindsey and her staff are aligned for a total and pleasurable dining experience. It will be our go-to. So pleased to have discovered this place.

Yelp
This review is for wine bar only. Great spot with nice selection of both wine as well as cheese and cocktails. Airy space gave me a good feeling of freshness while a decadent wineshelf brought that coziness I crave with my glass of vino. Our bartender was friendly and helpful which made us feel welcome and glad we stopped by (it was an unplanned mid-day Sunday visit). Will be back for more of that Merlot.

Yelp
Review of BRUNCH! Uvae Kitchen & Wine Bar is a quaint establishment towards the north section of Andersonville. With a patio space and a beautiful indoor space, it is the perfect place for brunch! With most places not taking reservations for brunch, it is nice that Uvae does because I HATE waiting for a table just to eat brunch. For a reservation - $5 deposit per person, and no cancellation within 24 hours. Overall, had a double date here with two friends during Sommerfest and we had a great time! Got the Zero Proof Cocktail - Melt Your Heart - strawberry simple syrup, lime juice, tonic water. It was refreshing, and had the perfect strawberry simple syrup to tonic water ratio. Shared the Duck Sliders and Lobster Cake Benedict with the hubby. The Duck Sliders had cranberry aioli, fennel slaw, with side of fruits. I found the duck to be overcooked and a bit dry, and there wasn't enough sauce or wet ingredients to soften the dryness. The fruits were fresh and yummy! I would skip the duck sliders as it was my least favorite dish. On the other hand, I LOVED the Lobster Cake Benedict. It came with a Lobster Cake as the base, and a poached egg on top with tarragon hollandaise with a side of potato hash. Everything was perfectly cooked and flavored. Even the potato hash is one of the best I've had - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Not the largest portion, but I felt perfectly full, it was a portioned really well! Highly recommend! Note: Bacon-Ricotta French Toast pictured I didn't actually try, but my friend loved it! Just thought it was beautiful so took a pic! 100% will be back to try Uvae for dinner, the menu looks so good!

Yelp
First time at this place, I was looking forward to the wine paired prix fixe dinner, but it wasn't available until Friday. That wasn't posted anywhere. However the staff were lovely and everything we ordered tasted great. Our favorite was actually brussel sprouts. Mocktails were nice and refreshing, $2 happy hour oysters. Hip place, low key, delicious food. I'd like to try again for the wine dinner.

Ordered the fresh, silky and soft oysters, also cocktail shrimps. Delicious. The wine and beer complemented the food. Thanks! Date night, meetups, solo Can't wait....

Yelp
I could never say enough positive things about Uvae. Be ready to be impressed. From the second you walk in the door, the staff is so kind and welcoming and attentive. Not sure what to drink but know the types of wines you like, they will pick one that will blow your mind! Then the food!!!! You seriously can't go wrong with any selection. Have a food allergy? Not a problem, they will just make you something on the fly. Love some of the wine and cheese? They have a freaking little shop you can buy it all from attached to the restaurant!
