Asian Grocery Chain T&T Is Opening Its First U.S. Store in Bellevue - Eater Seattle

"In case you were curious, as we were, Uwajimaya is 60,000 square feet, so picture an Uwajimaya with a quarter of an Uwajimaya attached to it, then another little bit of Uwajimaya." - Harry Cheadle

Love this place. If I want to make sushi-here is where you get the ingredients-fresh raw fish or amazing cooked eel. They also have a great variety of fresh fruit and vegetables; lots of sweets from Japan (like them since we visited Tokyo). They also carry nice Japanese knifes and plates. In the chocolate isle -I found cute chocolate bars -great for a present if you have friends visiting WA state.

Google
Uwajimaya in Bellevue is an efficient and well-organized store with a clear one-way entrance and exit flow that makes navigating easy. The space is clean and thoughtfully laid out, which adds to the overall shopping experience. You’ll find a wide variety of Asian groceries, snacks, sauces, and specialty items that are hard to come by elsewhere. The fresh produce section is well-stocked, and there’s even a live seafood tank if you’re looking for something ultra-fresh. Everything feels curated and easy to find, without the clutter you sometimes get in similar markets. Whether you’re doing a quick grocery run or exploring new ingredients, it’s a solid spot for Asian goods. JY review

Google
I love shopping here. I usually come for an ingredient for an Asian recipe that I can’t find at other grocery stores and end up finding many fun things to eat. Today I came for tamarind concentrate. They have an excellent selection of Asian and tropical fruits and vegetables. The hot bar has some great deals. I highly recommend the mini combo! We got the honey sesame chicken with vegetable rice. Excellent!

Google
Every time I've been in it has been clean, prices are great, selection is stellar, and staff are wonderful. I have to drive nearly 3 hours to get here but I make it a point to visit every time I'm in the area.

Google
The staff is friendly, but the products are a bit pricey. The store carries a wide variety of Asian items.

Google
Very clean and staff was super nice especially the gentleman with glasses in the produce department. I wish I would’ve got his name. Plenty of parking and bathroom is clean. We stop by every time we are in town for lunch and they have a great selection of warm food and sushi. This pork was so good for Shabu Shabu.

Jamie and another mid age woman were the two worst employees, especially that mid aged worman. We were happy to visit the gashabon and saw one gundam slots costing 3 tokens. We thought it was just unpopular or something. I exchanged the correct numbers of tokens I need, and some of them just spit out to be silver instead of gold. The machine didn't go through, and we reached to Michelle, which then sent us the mid age woman. She already gave me attitude keeping questioning where I got those silver tokens. How would I know when the machine just spit them out? And then she said things like "sheesh I was just asking" with such a condescending tone. I was already annoyed by this point. Of course she couldn't find the problem either, then she sent Jamie, who basically fixed the machine probably, because I couldn't test again. I was only left with 3 tokens, and she just said "oh it needs 4 tokens that was why it couldn't go through." Great, they just set the machine wrong and ruined my whole mood by first accusing me where I can get the tokens, then made me left with 3 tokens that now I just had no mood to play anymore. They stared at me all to the end as well as I was stealing. I couldn't believe themselves being Asians seems to be discriminating other Asians, whichever nationality they think I am. What a day to ruin uwajimaya and Japanese reputation. I will not stop by again. I hope the 3 tokens work on other uwajimaya otherwise it's going to be wasted

I have been coming to this location for many years, and this is my favorite Uwajimaya. Their selection is wide and there is plenty of parking. This visit I purchased Baumkuchen, Plushies & Hello Panda Candy. I highly suggest coming here for all Asian related provisions. Thank you, and God bless Uwajimaya Bellevue!

Yelp
I'm not sure what changed more recently, and this was NEVER a problem at the Uwajimaya in Seattle where I used to eat very frequently because I worked just across the street. But my son vomits almost every time he eats here and I've been having signs of mild food poisoning, which is really rare for me - I have a exceptionally strong stomach. Obviously, I can only speak for us, but it's very sad that things seemed to have gone downhill for us with regard to this particular Uwajimaya over the last year or so. Maybe a little longer. As the attached graph shows, I waited a very long time to really establish a trend given how rare food poisoning of any kind is for me. (My son just refuses to eat there after the nth vomit episode, for a pretty high value of n.)

Yelp
I enjoyed shopping here. Japanese supermarkets are always so clean and organized and have a wide selection of Asian goodies! They have a produce section but it doesn't carry as much Chinese veggies but has enough for basic dishes. The meat section is all pre wrapped. No fresh fish section that I saw with butchers. Lots of snacks and I could get lost in the hello kitty stationary section! That was my favorite part of the store tbh lol
google avatar

Yelp
The original pan-Asian (But lean Japanese) supermarket in Seattle. Well, the Bellevue branch of it. It's fine, you can get a lot of things here for your Eastern cooking and enjoyment that you can't get at the QFC, but like most other Asian-oriented supermarkets you always end up leaving wishing the overall quality was just a little bit better. When it comes to your essential packaged, tinned and canned stuff, Uwajimaya has you covered. Need some Kewpie? Check. Need some mirin? Check. Fish sauce? You get the picture. It's not all Japanese products but I wouldn't describe is as multi national as some other places I've shopped at in the world (Tian Tian in London comes to mind as being much, much more diverse and cleaner quite frankly) but you can probably find most things you're looking for. The issue is everything "fresh", prepared for the store or in the meat section. Like H Mart, the quality just isn't there in any of this stuff. If you're like me you really wish there would be some PCC equivalent of a Japanese or Korean supermarket but alas, you'll have to settle buying your beef and veggies from somewhere else. They do get a special nod for carrying a daily selection of Tres sandwiches which for most people is a real treat as getting to the actual Tres in Bellevue is a bit of journey. Service here is non existent.

Yelp
Ran out of my favorite raisin bread and frozen Hong Kong style char sui baos ( my G-daughter's favorite!) So I had to shop for more.

Yelp
Picked up a nice hot meal on my lunch break. They have a good selection of hot foods. I like coming here whenever I don't pack lunch for work. Easy to get to by rail from the Spring District station.

Yelp
Expensive. Asian food is typically clean, simple, humble. A dollar for a lemon There must be a huge shoplifting problem here, but I am not the one to watch. Felt odd as an employee glared at me after I checked out. My cart was empty, I paid my bill. What then? Probably won't return

Yelp
After going to the main Uwajimaya in the ID for decades, I finally have visited their East Side outpost a few times this year. The plusses? Parking is plentiful and also easier (no ticket validations). The lighting is better and the aisles are wider too. However, the ID store just offers much more of an experience in terms of selection, food court, additional shopping with Kinokuniya (although being next to Total Wine is also a plus).

Yelp
Visited this Asian grocery store on the way to The Westin Bellevue hotel. Saw some hot foods that were already prepared, a lot of Sushi, Donburi bowls, Spam Musubi, and even a hot deli counter. We ordered a combo for $12+ but the portions were kind of small. The General Tsao's Chicken was salty and wasn't spicy at all. Liked the Teriyaki Chicken Donburi bowl. Decent amount of meat over rice! Got some bun pastries, a Strawberry Cake, which was decadent and super flavorful!!! Soft and deliciously made! We were looking for the Korean Egg, Ham & Cheese sandwiches, but couldn't find them anywhere. Looked all over the store, too. Should have been with the Triangle Sushi, Spam Musubi or the prepared meals sections, but did not see them at all. Seemed like the store rearranged the inventory and aisles. Looked much different than the last visit. Good store to buy some Asian foods, produce, pastries, drinks and snacks!!!

Yelp
Racist disrespectful and unethical. My girls appreciated few things there and went to the store. The security guard, who gets support from the store manager is a jerk. White male guy, about 5.5 height and about 50 years old. He crossed boundaries approaching little kids and his intentions were beyond his job. My girls thankfully took his video of doing that. The store manager (female) also supported, also in the lies he told them. They ended up getting embarrassed themselves as they were wrong. I plan to sue them for discrimination and harassment towards under age kids - which is my highest priority here on. I have the data, that they failed to have.

Yelp
Super cool Japanese grocery store. Lots of grab and go items, lunch counter for hot items, seafood counter, tons of fruits and veggies I've never heard of before, and all sorts of unique-flavored chips, snacks, and sweet treats.

Yelp
I travelled from North Bend to shop at Uwajimaya. Their produce did not disappoint. Great selection and fresh. It seems that they are carrying more organic now, which I like. The big disappointment got me was their spicey ahi poke and salmon poke. It used to be really delicious! Completely different recipe. I also bought seaweed salad which was decent. I noticed that since they've industrialized the store, there aren't many Asians working there. The neighborhood Asian market feeling is gone. I hope that they will check out what I mentioned regarding the poke. There's more completion now and it's important for Uwajimaya to be at the top of their game.

Yelp
I love Uwajimaya and it seems to just keep getting better. Uwajimaya in Bellevue recently was renovated, so the layout is much more open, spacious and looks a lot more like its Seattle location in Chinatown. The store is also brighter, with more hot food take-out selection AND my most favorite thing here is Waji's, the poke bar!!! I freaking love the poke here. It competes with poke restaurants around town, but is a much better deal. Uwajimaya has many Asian specialty items that I can't find elsewhere and I love the many local goods they sell here, supporting the local restaurants and shops. I don't need to trek to Seattle for my Hood Famous ube cookies anymore because Uwajimaya sells that, as well as the large ube cheesecake I get for guests. Or the broth from Happy Lamb for when I want to make my own soup. They even had one time a local farmer outside the grocer, that was selling their custom floral arrangements and bouquets. The selection is a treasure. And there's always plenty of staff to help you find products and such. One of the gals at the poke counter remembers me every time I visit to get my poke plate and always asks me how my travel plans went or how work is going. It's as if I made a friend! I love it. Uwajimaya is my go-to for Asian products and best deals for takeout. Yes, the poke is my favorite here. But also, my absolute favorite teriyaki is from Uwajimaya's hot deli. The teriyaki here is not slathered in that sweet, teriyaki sauce, which I hate! It's just grilled, tender chicken that's been marinated. I have no complaints. I love shopping here for all my favorites and discovering new products. Support this local Asian grocer!

Yelp
Not sure I like the remodeled stores? Seems like more confusing to me and fewer variety of items to select from
google avatar

Wendy L.

Yelp
I stopped by Uwajimaya to look for some Japanese products. This Japanese grocery store is located in Bellevue, WA and it reminds me of a higher end Mitsuwa, Tokyo Central or Marukai Market in California. They have a lot more selection here and, while I didn't find the specific product I was looking for, I found other products to take back with me to CA. During my visit, it was pretty crowded in the store - my fault, I did come on a Sunday afternoon. They also have a large parking lot but very busy parking. Inside Uwajimaya was clean - major plus for a grocery store!
google avatar

Ciara L.

Yelp
Good selection of snacks and food! I like to get the onigiri and spam masubis here when I want a snack and I'll grab chips from here too. It is slightly overpriced but it's in a great location, clean, and many people come and go. Service is nice. There's multiple self checkout stands which is nice because prior to that there would be some lines so I can get out the door quicker
google avatar

Karen W.

Yelp
Here to buy snacks and gifts and it is my fave store to shop when I am visiting the area. It is a big store and you can find so many goodies here: hot food, roast duck, sushi, sashimi, baked goods, Japanese items. I love to visit this store and also the Seattle location. Just wish they had a location in the Bay Area
google avatar

Julienne P.

Yelp
Finally went here for the first time after 15 years of thinking "I should go there and try it out" Amd yes, I have been missing out. They have a ton of frozen and refrigerated food - meats and veggies. One obvious challenge is that they are not in packaging with English so if you have food allergies, this is probably not the place for you unless you can read the language. The have a ton of high sodium shelf-stable noodle just-add-water food, rice, etc Sooooooo many sauces, etc. that you will not find anywhere else. This is where I got really excited!! Staff was very helpful when I had questions. Do not wait 15 years!
google avatar

Josh C.

Yelp
I would like to take take this opportunity to give some snack recs. - Circle crackers with seaweed bits (I think they're called want want crackers) - Bin Bins - Turtle chips (but my mom threw my bag away because they have carcinogens which is not ideal but still kinda worth because they taste so good) - Man toes (little white circle things with baby logo) - Korean seaweed chips (Gim Bugak) Now for the review, I love Uwajimaya! It makes me feel at home and not just because I'm Asian. I just feel so happy and comfortable strolling the aisles. If i were alone, I would skip. Employees are so helpful and can find anything in the store. And as a bonus, the hot food options are great value! They pack the food down like we're friends or something.
google avatar

Maki S.

Yelp
Did someone say heaven? Because that's what I thought I experienced the first time I walked into this establishment. Granted, they probably have other things, but let's face it, most of us walk into this establishment for snacks, which there are more than three long aisles dedicated to all kinds of Japanese, savory and sweet treats. Stop by here. If you happen to be in the area. You won't regret it!
google avatar

Yelp
Been going here for around 20 years. Exceptional service. Some of the employees have been there for a longggg time and their Japanese service truly sets them apart. Even the newer employees they hire, are amazing. The fastest check out cashiers with great care. The fastest I've seen in the US haha. They have a decent selection of stuff always. After Covid the prices of their sushi seem to have gone up and not many wild fish selections. After they had a renewal a couple years back it's very nice to walk through and they have security there always which is AMAZING and I am all for it!!
google avatar

Jen W.

Yelp
I knew there was a Uwajimaya in Seattle, but did not realize it was a chain. Silly me. We walked over from our hotel to check it out. What a great store! Even better than the one in Seattle IMHO. All the amazing fresh produce, lots of premade items and the kitchen section has so many amazing cooking tools. Teapots (I want them!), chop sticks, pans, just too much stuff to list. It was fun wandering through. Also plenty of H&B items. We purchased a couple of impulse items and I'm super glad we stopped in. If you live near by, this shop has all kinds of ingredients for your Asian inspired recipes as well as sweets, beverages and meats. Definitely worth a look.

Kay G.

Yelp
Clean and great variety of delicious food!! Highly recommend. Everything choice you can think of. From ube ice cream to fresh sushi
google avatar

Paul A.

Yelp
It is a go to place for my Japanese grocery shopping. Items I usually buy are sauces, mirin, wasabi, snacks, frozen and raw fish for sushi or sashimi. I also grab a bowl of beef over rice occasionally.
google avatar

Kevin F.

Yelp
Wow!! While checking out the Total Wine in Bellevue, this fabulous market is right next door. I can see why it's so busy! Great fresh produce, phenomenal seafood selections, Wagyu beef choices, and so much more! I happened to want to check it out as I was needing a few ingredients to make Adobo chicken.. found the ingredients..and much more! Definitely worth more shopping and exploring new adventures, lots of fresh seafood to try, sushi, Asian food, and great variety of produce. Now that I know what's available here, will be back to try many of the foods available.

Yelp
I have one very upset, uncomfortable experience today. And it's about discrimination. I asked the self checkout staff to help me to apply the "red envelope" coupon as they instructed. But this lady just talked to the phone and waved her hand to tell me to go her spot to redeem the coupon. So I went there, and waited for a few minutes. But she asked me to go back to the spot I did my self Check out. And it seemed like the remote redemm thing crashed the check out system. Then, again, go back to her spot. And she told me unfortunately my system was crashed. After that, she just let me standing there without any further instructions. I waited for a couple minutes without any explanations. And seeing other people using the self check out and go. And she talked to white lady nice and friendly but not find a quick way for us. Then, she put us to another staff checkout line and was regardless of the line there. And when the staff felt embarrassed and told her maybe not, she just said please help and this self checkout lady just left us there for another 3-5 minutes. Then, this checkout lady had to call back self checkout staff to come back and said she would NOT do our checking out. Then, I was being put to the gift department without any proper apologies. When I wanted to make compliant to the store, the gift department lady told me that search online for their email and find the number by myself, and she also told me that the manager was not here today so no one would answer my compliant, and she just pushed us to pay immediately. I usually do not like to quarrel with others, I am a soft voice asian woman, so that I was being ignored and told to go here and there for more than 10 mins and could not have a proper apologize, and I even had to find a way, which maybe don't exist, to do my customer compliant. THIS IS BULLYING YOUR CUSTOMER AND THIS IS DISCRIMINATION! And this is not my only bad experience here. Last time at the seafood section, the guy behind the counter intentionally asked me about five times what do you want and I said, pointed again and again. He just kept saying: " What?????" If you had been there, you would know that the talking or pointing is not that hard to recognize. I think he just thought it was ok and fun to pretend not understanding.
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
Came in, was denied service, threatened call police and got kicked out due to having a service animal with us, and even though we had all proper paperwork security was extremely rude and unprofessional. Iron Oak security is a disgrace to ask questions and making a scene in front of dozens of people, laughing to our face. Shame
google avatar

Andy H.

Yelp
Very neat Japanese grocery store. It is hard to find one like this on the East coast, down south. My mother was Japanese so it was great finding some items that she used to buy and cook for us. The restaurant inside was a plus. Tables are outside if you want to sit down and eat.
google avatar

Viola P.

Yelp
I love Uwajimaya in Seattle, but this location is closer to home so I go here. This is my go-to place to get all the ingredients I can't at Safeway including lime leaves, and big bundles of herbs. The employees have always been really nice when I've needed help and I've always been able to find anything I need. It's way less overstimulating and overcrowded with products than some of the international markets I've been to.
google avatar

Brigid C.

Yelp
the selection here is all right, the frozen needs to be more diverse, and it's really crammed. they used to have a mochi thing, it's not there anymore. the stationery section isn't spectacular. also please know that THEY DO NOT ACCEPT WIC. i called beforehand, and they said yes; then i came, and they said no. annoyed, confusing customer service :/
google avatar

Gene M.

Yelp
Prepared foods are terrible. I am surprised they even offer them. Pad Thai noodles, Tsao chicken and Honey chicken combined for a score of zero.
google avatar

Grace B.

Yelp
Went to Seattle, WA for a business trip and Uwajimaya was the perfect place to fill my refrigerator with groceries for two weeks. I was able to eat foods without feeling deprived from home cook foods. I also was able to buy their fresh bentos and familiar Asian products and produce. The entire two weeks, Uwajimaya made me feel less homesick. I was able to survive two weeks away from home. They had all I need.
google avatar

Jazmin S.

Yelp
Went in to find soy sauce, wow I was so overwhelmed because well, who knew there could be so many! Prices are a bit higher than an average grocery store but understandable if you're getting specialty items. The staff is hands off so don't go in with a question. Over all, lots of stuff to look at from fresh veggies, to meat and seafood, to pots and pans and self care! Will I go back, yes.

Louis M.

Yelp
Well, Uwajimaya used to be to go to place for take out sushi sashimi and other Asian delights since the store has been remodeled I find the product consistency to deteriorate. They do have delectable items like wasabi peas, canned fish, hot Chinese, food bar, and wonderful fresh fish and beef deli, fresh vegetables, etc. However, I purchased the assorted nigiri sushi tray 10 pieces of Atlantic salmon today for $20.99 and there was no soy sauce in the package. What is a poor white boy to do? Must I go to Kroger to purchase soy sauce when the top Asian food market doesn't provide it in a standard expensive package oh well no Santa Claus there. like Kroger does and fresher.
google avatar

Ellen K.

Yelp
I love Uwajimaya's. My older sister introduced me to Asian food at the original one in Chinatown (that's what it was called back then) south of Seattle back in the 70's. Fell in love with the food, people and culture. That was the first place I ever had bao buns, yakisoba, and sui mai. Spokane didn't have anything like that then and is still running behind, although we have a few really good markets now. Have been going to Uwajimaya's in Bellevue since they were off Bel-Red Rd. As my sister did with me, I introduced my kids to everything there at that location when they were just toddlers. Now I take my grandson to the "new" location closer to downtown - third generation loyal customers! Every time we're in the area, shopping at Uwajimaya's is a priority!
google avatar

Wenjia Z.

Yelp
Make sure the product you bought is up to date. They like to sell expired products. And today is April 20th.
google avatar

Adam A.

Yelp
This business has been known to inflating their prices above plenty of other local Japanese grocers. This location in general is really doing a disservice to their local community, taking advantage of the fact they are in Bellevue. Don't believe me? Take three items you usually buy here, then go to Seattle and buy the same items. A majority of the items are literally half the prices of the Bellevue location. Even non-edibles like a cheap Kuromi keychain is $15 in Seattle and $24 in Bellevue.. so laughable.. probably shop here if it's your last resort for Asian groceries. Or just go to H Mart which has fair prices.
google avatar

Roscoe B.

Yelp
Who puts cassava flour in tamago? Apparently Uwajimaya does. Even cheap poke places know not to do this

J T.

Yelp
I live near this Uwajimaya and it's top notch. It's so well organized and I like to come at least once a week. Much easier parking than the Seattle location since you don't have to validate.
google avatar

Latifa S.

Yelp
Much smaller than Seattle one. Always huge lines especially since pandemic started. Huge multiple likes outside. But it gets the job done somehow. Space: much smaller so things are crammed in. But it makes it easier to find things, sort of. Prices are higher on some items. Some prices are different! Not sure why. I've actually compared it with photos. I usually stop here when I have work on east side. Parking lot is free unlike Seattle ( they validate with purchase) but it's much harder to find parking here. Always very hectic. The items: they have different items here. Some are on sale, some not. I always come for mushroom(s) and they almost always have different ones than what I'm looking for. But it works most of the time. The deli is huge here and have lines. Seattle one doesn't. I've actually tried a few items. Got persuaded by that long line! Darn it. I've tried their shrimp tempura: cold and soggy: roast duck. A ok. I do like their dessert. Mochi! Sesame balls with red beans inside. Sashimi aisle! I usually get something from their sashimi aisle which also has a huge lines at time. They also have a huge fridge full of kimchi, pickle stuff. Pickle ginger is always good. All in all much smaller! More people, hard to park, hectic but it gets the job done.

Yelp
Pros: Decent flow. Clean check-out counters. Fresh produce. Well-arranged seafood collection. Issues: 1. Guy cut up my duck. Did not ask if I wanted it cut up. I suppose there was no way to get it to fit in the containers they have available. Some off the pieces were super small. He seemed a little limited in English and also in auto-pilot, so I did not harass him. He finished and handed me a greasy container -- not bothering to wipe it off. Went to the check out counter, told the clerk I was going to wipe it off, but he too was on auto-pilot put the greasy contents in a bag and was done with it. 2. Some items are competitively-priced (i.e., condiments, noodles, fish), but some (i.e., water, pastries, meats) are almost double the price of Whole Foods or PCC. Perhaps the contracts are different, but $5.23 for a 1L of Smart Water?! You all maybe can benefit to renegotiate those contracts or push more discounted products, particularly in a lower spending, post-inflationary, pandemic-weary climate. 3. Someone tell your grandparents/aunties/uncles to stop being so damn rude to non-kin. Teach them how to say 'thank you', 'hello', and 'excuse me' at least. For the short encounter I was bumped into and greeting shunned at least 10 times. Maybe it is a cultural thing, but I believe this country and people in general can benefit from BASIC human respect, acknowledgement, and kindness. Just because I do not have your surname or look like you, does not mean you have to be so damn primal.

Joey S.

Yelp
Uwajimaya was my favorite place to get groceries at, but has recently become much more challenging to shop. They no longer have carts with child baskets, so I have a hard time shopping with my 2 year old. There are no family bathrooms. For goods, they have stripped beloved Japanese deli items like potato and pumpkin croquettes from their deli. And they continue to narrow their Japanese speciality grocery items in favor of generic pan-asian offerings. Uwajimaya has become more expensive, reduced their specialty grocery range, and made it much more challenging for single parents to shop at. I'm glad Maruta is still around. The old uwajimaya is missed.
google avatar

Karlo G.

Yelp
It's not exactly the Chinatown flagship store however it has all of the items that I need. Food shopping is no longer a downtown Seattle traffic and parking game of chance. This location may not have a huge food court, however it does deliver in cleanliness, available products, convenience, and free parking. The produce section is sufficiently stocked. The aisle ways are clear and clean and the products faced. The fresh meats and seafoods are also stocked with everything including pre-marinated beef bulgogi. The bakery section, though small, is also well-stocked and arranged. They even have a warm case for barbecue pork and meal bowls. The cashier lines can be long due to the number of active checkstands. There are self-service checkouts to for anyone with 15 items or less. Parking is free. Yes, there is no minimum purchase to park for free. Finally, everything I need and only a few exits away.

Yelp
This location is never as busy as the Seattle location and it also has a large parking lot. I do sometimes wonder if not many people know it exists because it always feels empty. The store itself is barely staffed, especially at night, and there is frequently only one checkout lane open. In general, Uwajimaya has a great selection of Asian products at varying prices. But lately, whenever I go, I find there are a lot of empty spots and cases. I'm not sure if it's a staffing issue and they can't find time to stock their shelves properly, or if there are inventory issues and they struggle to keep certain items in stock. Either way, there are noticeable empty spaces throughout the store.

Yelp
Uwajimaya doing a splendid job on COVID19 (ie.. TrumpVirus) protocols. They had signs up saying couldnt use reusable shopping bags, but they allowed us to if we bagged ourselves. They're definitely monitoring store occupancy per state guidelines. The store is rather cramped; narrow aisles. I havent sampled the Deli but it looks absolutely amazing. Prices here are pretty high, but the quality is high as well. We come here mainly to get fresh sushi ingredients and hard-to-find produce (like baby bok choy, lemon grass, galanga, etc). But its hard to resist the cooking section, rice cookers, woks and implements. And I'm always throwing stuff in the cart to try simply because it looks delicious even though I have no idea what it is. The staff are exceptional and friendly, even to a wide-eye like me. Parking seemed adequate.

Yelp
What's there to not love about Uwajimaya?! I wasn't even planning on going grocery shopping, but when I saw the Uwajimaya I instantly decided that sushi sounds great, and Uwajimaya is usually my favourite store to stock up on the veggies that I require. This one is on the smaller side, but like the other locations, they have a very nice selection of goodies from all over the Orient. Plenty of foods that you can't get in a regular grocery store plus a bunch of adorable home décor and trinkets. I always really appreciate that pretty much everything is clearly labeled in English. If the original package doesn't have English on it there's usually a sticker on there to help me out! Prices are either really good or "okay" depending on what you're looking for. There are some things I can find at the regular grocery store for less while other times Uwajimaya really takes the cake and provides a much higher quality item for much less. Employees were super helpful, as I'm accustomed to in Uwajimayas and their self-serve checkout machines worked very nicely!

Yelp
Excellent asian market, fresh fruit and vegetables as well as fish and meat counter. Deli with large selection of prepared and pre packaged dishes for quick purchase.

Yelp
Like many who live in the area, I've been going to Uwajimaya ever since I started living in the area, decades ago. This is their Bellevue location, smaller than the Seattle store for sure, possibly smaller or similar to the Renton store. Overall, Uwajimaya wins as a reasonably Asian comprehensive store with a primary focus towards Japanese food. Their stores are cleaner than most Asian stores. Their prices are higher than most Asian stores too. They have weekly special items that are fairly decent, price wise. I enjoy the special events they host, more commonly at the Seattle location. This store is usually too small to accommodate special events. This store does have three mini shops inside. J Sweets that sell high end Japanese mochi, crackers, etc. Their snacks are delicious! There's also a bakery (forgot the name). And there's a boba shop, called Oasis. I come here for last minute items I need. Otherwise, I prefer going to International District.

Yelp
I love this market. Clean, friendly staff, and organic produce. They also have cookware and gifts.
