Update: I returned the item, and their customer service was very good and helpful throughout the process. Although the product didn’t work out for me, I appreciate how smoothly the return was handled. Don’t buy this “jelly pudding” from Uwajimaya—it tastes really really really bad. My kid and I love jelly and pudding, so we were excited to try this, but it was a big disappointment. We tried both the mango and coffee flavors, and they were equally unpleasant. The texture was especially off—it didn’t feel like jelly or pudding at all. The flavor tasted like something expired. This is the first time we’ve bought something so bad from Uwajimaya. That said, we still love shopping at Uwajimaya—it’s a great Asian market and we go there often. But I really regret spending almost $10 on this product. I wish I could return this.

Google
A great deli lunch! Lots of rice, pepper beef, tender tasty flank steak, and perfect wok veggies. My wife ordered half roast duck, delicious! Deli food is reasonably priced with generous portions. It's a big store with a wide selection of merchandise, premium meats, and beautiful produce. We love the bakery, too.👍 There's a Starbucks nearby too. 🙂

I came to Uwajima after a long time. There were more cute goods than before. When I come here, I think of Japanese grocery stores. Personally, I buy a lot of things here. The shopkeeper is kind and will tell you if you have any questions. I come here if I need something for Japanese food...most of the things are here. Don't miss March, which is Children's Festival in Japan, and there are splendid hina dolls displayed near the cash register. I also like to see skincare, hair care, and merchandise made in Japan. If you come here, you will like not only food but also everyday items and gifts. I would like you to come to Uwajimaya and check it out.

Google
Great asian supermarket with a variety of Asian ingredients and deli selections. Their roasted duck was not the freshest, so I would not get their ducks again. The roasted pork belly was okay. It's a great stop if you are visiting Seattle. The one in downtown Seattle is better and have more variety.

How Ifeel

Google
I really do like this store but I am actually profiled and followed each and every single time I visit. I spend way too much here to be followed and watched like I'm actively stealing, when I dress and act just like everyone else. Train your staff to respect ALL customers or please just put up an Asian and Whites only sign at this point. I am completely serious. Why should I have to feel uncomfortable because of others stereotypes???

Google
Well-stocked and well-organized, always very clean. Produce is pretty expensive, but typically higher quality than FM/SW. Imported kitchenware is surprisingly affordable. I once asked a clerk about an item I couldn't find, and they very helpfully explained the supply chain issues with that specific item and when they were hoping to have it back in stock. This place is great 👍

Google
We were traveling from out of town and our friends who live in New Castle recommend this place. Amazing fresh oysters and poke too... The only thing I was set back about was the guy behind the hot bar getting irritated with me because I didn't understand how the sides worked. After he took my order he mumbled something to his coworker. Rude. I had never been there before and wasn't sure how it worked, sorry!

Google
I love Uwajimaya. The atmosphere and great customer service. I'm excited to try new things so this week it is the mango flavored and peach flavored ice cream. I give the mango flavor an 8/10, it was really sweet but tolerable. The peach flavor I give a 10/10. The peach was delicious and a great flavor to my palette. And tbh I'm lactose intolerant but my stomach didn't bother me after enjoying this sweet creamy treat. The outside has like shell like texture but it's flavored just right. I will be going next week to try their Lays chips, there are so many different flavors I can't wait.

Yelp
Uwajimaya Never fails me. I wanted to stock up on my Ginger Tea and Crystals, which is excellent if you are starting to feel a cold coming on, or just to soothe your body. I also decided to try their Boba tea. I decided to try the Matcha Tea with regular Boba and Coconut Milk. Omg, it was so delicious. You can sign up to receive points through the Clover/Oasis app. I will definitely go back to try other flavors and I will share my experience Oh almost forgot I bought some fresh turmeric and ginger root which is so hard to find at the regular local stores. The Tumeric is fairly priced, unlike some stores that charge $7 per pd, I paid roughly $4 for a decent amount. The cashier was really nice. Great customer service, like always. The Store is very clean with so much to offer!

Yelp
This is only for hot food bar I bought the half duck and was really disappointed. The meat was dry and lacked any real flavor--it tasted bland and overcooked. Definitely not worth the price. I won't be buying it again. Felt like a waste of money.

Yelp
I am giving two stars because the store itself is alright. Great variety of products. If it were for the deli counter I would go down to one star. I would see to like it but they have gone very downhill. I ordered a two entree with chow mein and was so disappointed. The quality of the GT and orange chicken was bad. The chow mein had no flavor. The chicken and veggie egg rolls were ok. Don't think I will order there for a while

Yelp
This is the third time this happens to me I tried to give it a chance again but nope. I went in the usual to get a few things and I like paying in self checkout because I like seeing my prices I'm paying and I notice the lady is only staring at me from all people paying ( I'm Latina, people in self checkout were white and Asian) and I scan everything and she comes and tells me something I scanned isn't the right pricing ?) last time I go in. Last time the lady at self checkout insinuated I didn't scan an item when indeed I did and I complained and management didn't do anything.

Yelp
just forget it, prefer T&T, Hmart, Trader Joes, even Costco...xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Yelp
Had a great experience here. Parking lot was quite adequate and very clean. Employees were friendly and very helpful when I had questions. The store is well laid out and has some craft items as well as traditional food, Deli and bakery. The only thing I missed out on was the poke. If they brought that back, this would be a 15 star review! Highly recommended for all my friends who love Asian foods at reasonable prices.

Yelp
I knew as soon as I left here I needed to write a review. But where I paused at is that initially I was thinking 3 or 3.5 stars but I gotta give this store a 4 star. Why I wanted to give it a 3 star is because I was comparing to the Bellevue location and it is just much smaller with less offerings. But this place absolutely deserves a 4 star. The store is immaculate with organization and cleanliness. They had an employee in the produce section, who had moved the onions and had a small handheld vacuum and was vacuuming the space it was on so it would be very clean. And as I continued to look around, everything else was just as clean. The meat department organized so well. The meat looked beyond fresh. And of course had to purchase some and it was great quality. I've purchased meat from other Asian markets put it in the fridge and it was bad in a couple days. Guarantee this won't happen here. I will say some of their pantry food items are priced on the higher end. But on my visit, they also had some great sales. I will say I was sad I didn't get any poke from the poke bar but I will definitely come back for some.

Yelp
Poke bowls here are great! Fresh, tasty, and affordable. The jumbo comes with three scoops of poke of your choice along with two scoops of rice with furikake, ocean salad, and ginger. I wish they would cool the rice slightly, so it does not cook the fish. The service is fast at the seafood counter inside Uwajimaya. Typical supermarket ambiance which is fine since everyone takes this to-go.

Yelp
Needed some last minute T-Day stuff and dropped by here early AM in the hopes it would be uncrowded (yes) and also have what I needed (yes). TBH we should shop here more. For one thing they conscientiously wipe down the registers after each customer - Thank You. We don't need a pandemic to understand that this is a good practice for everyday life in people-facing environments. I was here for flowers and they don't have a ton yet still had enough for me to accomplish my task. They have an even more amazing gift area now btw. If you like cats, this is your spot for gifts, trinkets, dishes, etc. Always a pleasant stop. PS they have tables in the front by the windows if you want to hang out, work on your computer, eat, or whatnot.

Yelp
I don't come to the Renton Uwajimaya too often, but when I do, it has always been a good experience. I went to check out what premade meals they had for the day and saw they had Mapo Tofu, which I haven't ate in a while. It was pretty solid for that it was. The store also has self-check-out if you have 15 items are less!
google avatar

Katrina D.

Yelp
Got several cuts of sashimi from here. The fish are as fresh as you can get them. Totally beats going to the restaurant and paying a premium. The store is clean and cashiers are friendly.

Yelp
Came here because I had spare time to kill waiting for something. Uwajimaya is super for their different selection. Pricey, yes. My shrimp noodle dish was about $7.49 and the drink was 4.50 for a large. I like that you can pick up all sorts of goodies here! Sushi, roast duck, groceries, all ready prepared meals! They got it all. Also they have ultra cute hello kitty and Japanese merch. Will have to take my toddler here one day!
google avatar

Whitney k.

Yelp
We love coming here to shop but just sharing this Karen and her husband and if you're in the area and shopping with them, watch out! They're rude and absolutely have no class.
google avatar

Leilani Q.

Yelp
A great Asian market to pick up hot foods, raw fish, poke, noodles, etc. I like to come near 5ish pm to see if they have any hot food items for $2 off. I like to get a bowl of steam table foods for $6, such a STEAL!! There's a poke bar near the meat/fish section and has pretty good options. I get some salmon, tuna, and wakame to make my own sushi at home. There are certain days/times that you can come to shop and get 10% off if you're a senior or student. Highly recommend doing this if you're either or both! They have a good variety of non food items including woks, pans, bowls, cups, cute thangs for gifts. This is my favorite of the Uwajimayas because parking is easy and super accessible. Not the cheapest grocery shopping experience though!

Ronda R.

Yelp
You will find a great selection and variety, fresh bakery and food here. The gifts are glorious (like Hawaiian Host chocolate macadamia nuts! and anime goodies) and so much fun to walk around. I wish the strong smell of fish was a bit less, but that's what happens when you carry fresh fish, I suppose!

Minsan ..

Yelp
I go here for basically everything. Food, skincare, makeup, hair care, beverages, you name it. Friendly environment with cheap items, what else could you ask for?
google avatar

Pinky H.

Yelp
Expensive but it has everything we need from Hawaii. Try the poke selection, I'm kinda impressed...

D T.

Yelp
Solid for meat/seafood selection the butcher department. The hot food togo in the "deli" offers some really good hot options @. I wish the produce was a little higher quality
google avatar

Kaori M.

Yelp
I consider this place Hawaiian food grocery store, not Japanese or Asian store. I wanted to have more authentic Japanese bento, but I realized this is more Hawaiian, I decided to have poke bowl. Got salmon and tuna poke. Tuna was great but salmon poke had too much flavor. I got Hawaii style rice crackers as well, but a little disappointed that there is limited Japanese sweets.

Yelp
As someone from suburban/rural northeast, it's a delight to visit a large Japanese supermarket and find all my favorite overseas snacks, products, and brands. It's not often I stumble across natto, ageichiban, and several types of omusubi in one place. The store is very well-stocked, and produce were all very fresh. However, prices are definitely on the rise. It is mandatory to wear masks indoors, so if you're from out of town from somewhere that doesn't uphold strict covid measures, remember to pack a mask with you.

Bo W.

Yelp
The food is good, I like the hot deli and Oasis Boba Milk Tea inside this Uwajimaya store at this location. The service was good. The ambiance is grocery store.
google avatar

Heather L.

Yelp
I absolutely adore this place. I have such a good time exploring all of the various sections and it is always clean and tidy. Even with the fantastic selection of fish, crabs, and butchered meat there is never that sort of not so fresh smell that can happen near meat counters in bigger grocery store chains. The staff is always very kind. I enjoy checking out what other customers are purchasing and trying lots of new snacks, condiments, and finding ingredients for more adventure filled cooking. I have never failed to find a new product or something tasty here.

Colfax J.

Yelp
One of the employees poops on the toilet seat and leaves it there. Immediately left ruined my appetite and returned my food.

Christian C.

Yelp
So, I come here and get some BBQ items when I'm strapped for time or have a shorter lunch break. Slowly, the food has been getting worse and worse and I didn't really want to say anything...until now. I doubt I'll ever come back. I've been trying to give them chances thinking that the pandemic got them messed up still, but it's 2024. There are no excuses. Today I got the #2 lunch combo which has BBQ Pork and Roast Pork. I used to think this Waji had the best Roast Pork. Well, those days are long gone. They definitely lost their touch. The crispy pork skin is not that crispy anymore and is extremely salty. The rest of the meat is dry and tasteless. There are burnt parts that are just gross. The BBQ Pork is just as bad. Flavorless and it is so dry that I think it is leftovers from yesterday. Don't come here for Chinese BBQ. Find a different place or you will regret it.

Yelp
I've been a customer at this Uwajimaya for about a year. They have amazing selection of sake, snacks, produce and pantry items. I am so impressed with the freshness of their meats and produce, and they even carry foods from local vendors-you can get Tres Sandwiches here. A highlight of this location is that it is conveniently located-it is near everything, and the parking lot is easy access. The staff are polite, the store is always clean when I go (2 ish times a week). They are on top of COVID precautions-mask policy enforced and they are very clean. Bonus: their home goods, stationary and toiletries are well supplied too. This Uwajimaya has everything I need! I even got this beautiful mask made by a local artisan (pictures included). Best Uwajimaya hands down!

Jamie M.

Yelp
I used to love this place. I'm done with it. I bought some overpriced rice crackers only to find them old and stale. I threw the package away. There was no expiration date on the package. So Ok, this last time I went to buy some Hawaiian Host Choclate Covered Macadamias at $15 a box.. How does chocolate look like diseased fungus? What do you do to it to look like this? Is it 90 years old? I'm done with this hell hole. If I want expired food I can just go to White Center or the International district. For a store that is so overpriced, how can Uwajimaya get away with this and still be open. Forget this place. Never again.
google avatar

Clint W.

Yelp
This place seems a little smaller than the one in the ID but some of the same goodies exist. It is definitely quieter. Maybe the same familiar faces aren't there but I think all the same products and produce can be had. Better for the south livers.
google avatar

Lillyandmarshall L.

Yelp
Yum! Love the hot foods, the pastries, the drinks, the variety of goods. And this cheesecake!
google avatar

Jen B.

Yelp
Uwajimaya is my favorite Asian market for nearly a decade; Not like others Asian markets in Washington. Having a good time to shop and having all kinds of food to try. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. However, this location's Renton hot food section has not been well trained yet from beginning of their establish such as how to greeting people who need to order at hot bar or making or packaging spam musubi, ect,... very basic in management. Seems odd that no one's from the owner or managers ever cared for this Renton location. It's very disappointed.
google avatar

Hazel B.

Yelp
The combo meals are too tough even my dog wont eat it. You can fo better. Duck is always good.
google avatar

Anonymous ..

Yelp
Following up on another user's review of combo meals at Uwajimaya where she said the quality was bad... As much as I love the grocery store, $7.95 for a ONE item combo is absolutely outrageous. We're talking ONE entree on top of rice or chowmein for $8 that the older supervisor of the deli area will carefully make sure the younger staff give you only 5 pieces of whatever the item is. 100% not worth it!
google avatar

Yelp
Cash/Card accepted Family friendly Free Public Parking Milk Tea store inside Take out Restaurant inside EBT Card accepted A Asia Market place where you can buy your basic neccesitys. Friendly staff and environment. They offer household items and fresh seafood as well. Worth a visit if you require any South East Asian ingredients for Hotpot, ramen, Pho, and much more. Overall another good option for Asian grocery.
google avatar

Nicole L.

Yelp
I love the store! The Poke Bar, disappointing! The fish quality is superb! But the sauce is WAYYYY tooo salty!!! Omg. I had to wash them in water, no joke! Whoever is making them PLEASE try them before serving it to people. I don't think that type of salt level is safe for consumption.
google avatar

Jane M.

Yelp
Been wanting to come here for really long.. i frequently Seafood palace at southcenter atleast once a month.. i liked how organized neat and clean uwajimaya is.. there is plenty of variety- organic, non organic, sugar free, etc etc truly an international grocery store catering to asian population..i found everything i needed to try some new asian recipes at home.. would have loved if they had more seafood options.. their grocery is also very fresh and well arranged.. i will come back here again for sure..
google avatar

Sandra L.

Yelp
Stopped in several times recently! Love the fresh raisin bread they sell. I think it is baked at a Vietnamese bakery Always very clean, one can tell they take pride in their store. Fresh sushi and Chinese BBQ is available at the deli They also carry lots of cooking tools, pots and pans as well as woks and electrical grills, hot pots, etc. Lots of parking available too
google avatar

Yelp
Uwajimaya Renton has a good selection of offerings, somewhat smaller than the Bellevue store in size, range, and scale, except Renton only has Oasis amongst their mini shops. (Bellevue has more.) They have live seafood tanks, poke, full seafood and meats offerings, hot deli, and the usual groceries. (Big to small: Seattle, Bellevue, Renton) Because the Renton store is farther, I rarely come here. I shop here exactly once a year - for their Polynesian Festival (all my photos) only in the Renton for WA stores (and in Beaveraton, OR) during the annual Uwajimaya Hawaiian week. The parking lot is blocked off with a stage, several booths of Polynesian goodies, one booth with Hawaiian foods and malasada doughnuts (aka Hawaiian style donuts). The Renton store typically participates with some extra specials, too. In the past years, there was a $5 poke rice bowl deal that was such a deal, but I didn't see it in 2019. For this year, I noticed for the first time a triple trifecta at the same plaza as the Uwajimaya. Eat dinner at Lemongrass, dessert at Cherry de Pon, and grocery shop to take home from Uwajimaya. Still a bit far for me, but it's good to know there's so much going for it in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Love this place. I'm from Hawai'i and I love how they have a grab and go section with ready made bento style food. They have spam musubi, Portuguese sausage eggs and rice, hot dog musubi, longanisa and rice, Limi salmon, kimchi, daikon, all kinds of stuff! They have a large variety of goodies, especially stuff I grew up on, like sweet potato, kamaboko, S&S saimin, li hung mui seed, Hawaiian sun juices, Shelly senbei crackers, and I could go on. Anyway, Uwajimaya is a great place to find all your Asian cuisine/goody needs. They also have a nice gift shop area!
google avatar

Stacey P.

Yelp
I'm going to be honest. I hate grocery stores and grocery shopping. I don't like the narrow aisles. I don't like how they're always cold. And I especially hate how other customers seem to lose all sense of courtesy and become super aggressive when they get a cart in hand. No matter how many times I get hit with another person's cart I'm not going to move faster. I don't respond to micro aggression like that. Which is why Uwajimaya is pretty much the only grocery store I'll go into. I'll admit, I haven't checked out Viet Wah, which I should do, but Uwajimaya is great. They have a nice selection of essential staples, their produce selection can be a bit hit or miss, but they have great bubble tea and also a hot meal counter and the only grocery store packaged sushi I'll eat. And I don't get pushed around here at Uwajimaya. Everyone wears masks without anger and people treat other people respectfully. I enjoy not getting mowed down by another person's cart. Also plenty of room in the parking lot with lots of available parking!
google avatar

Jason L.

Yelp
Great international market with varieties of food! I usually come here for a quick lunch grab. They have pretty good deal and food on the kitchen area. I usually get the Lucky Deal, you can get two entrees and side of brown or white rice for $10.95 after tax. A great price and a full belly as well. They have a fair portion of food on their bar. Definitely worth it if you work around the area. Overall, I will be back again soon. Not to mention, friendly staff there and they always give you extra food on your box haha.
google avatar

Leo Y.

Yelp
Not a cheap place, but when it comes to sashimi, it's a lot less than going to a restaurant. And since there's no tax or tip, the savings are substantial. It's one of the best selections and qualities of fish that I have found, and I'll certainly be back.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a review for Poke lunch. I had never come to this Uwajimaya since Seattle and Bellevue stores are closer to where I live. But i happened to be in the area and had to find takeout lunch for my daughter playing volleyball at the nearby court. So here I am. The store was very organized and clean though unfamiliar grocery store is hard to navigate, not their fault. I found the deli where they sell Chinese hot dishes, fried rice and all the usuals, sushi in the cold case, some pastries not too appealing. Then I found Poke at the fish counter, somewhat unusual place. I was gonna ask for just poke and order plain rice from the deli, but they had warm rice there together with poke sold as poke rice bowl. Yes!! I ordered Shoyu and Pepper tuna poke out of 6-7 choices which was very good. I got to say it was the best poke I've had. Seriously. It was 2 choices of poke and priced $10. Pretty reasonable. If you ever go get lunch from this Uwajimaya, go to the fish counter opposite to the deli.
google avatar

Yelp
Purchased my mooncakes today, and they were exactly where Lando said! Updating to add that the Renton location also carries a wide variety of Ozakupan and Tres sandwiches. (If you're not familiar yet, look them up!!!) Lots of snacks, fresh produce, and spicy ramen in stock. Even picked up a half duck from the hot deli. Not crowded at all, plenty of parking. Social distancing stickers everywhere and plastic barriers at every checkout station (including the hot deli).

Yelp
Uwajimaya's our go-to store when shopping for local (Hawaiian, Japanese) foods. Over the years we've become friends with most all of the staff and management. Calvin always chats with me and another personal friend (Ray) works in the fish department. No, no discounts. LOL. If a recipe calls for ingredients to prepare Hawaiian, Chinese, Thai or Korean dishes, we head to Uwajimaya's. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Uwajimaya used to bring in fresh poi from Hawaii on Thursdays. If someone really craves fresh poi, it can still be purchased at Hawaii General Store by UW. Uwajimaya's fish (both prepared or swimming), vegetables, noodles & sauces are always fresh and displays are well manicured. There's even fresh clams, oysters, Dungeness crab in running water tanks, which are also well maintained. For those wanting to pick up a hot lunch, there's a food deli with various prepared dishes and roast pig & duck. The roast pig & duck are always tasty. Or you can pick up bento style lunches and then there's the ever present Musubi (rectangular shaped rice cake with a piece of fried SPAM wrapped in Nori). Yum-Oh! Now that we've moved from Renton to Federal Way, we're going to have to be real hungry for a particular dish to drive to Waji's (as we like to call it). But, we will.

Yelp
This is the 2nd time I bought pastries from this store and it has mold growing on it. C'mon guys this is unacceptable.
google avatar

Kirstin H.

Yelp
This location is much more chill and smaller than the ones in Bellevue and Seattle, but it has everything I need. I also really like having an Oasis bubble tea stand right by the entrance! The staff have always been knowledgeable and friendly, and the deli has great roasted meats with a much shorter line.
google avatar

kunihiro i.

Yelp
This is far more expensive than other supermarkets in Seattle. Enoki mushrooms for $9.99 a pack.. who would buy that? A bunch of green onions for $2.00. Ridiculous. Japanese products never become cheaper even though JPY is so weak nowadays.

Kris M.

Yelp
Cool market. So many interesting things to see. Workers were kind. I didn't have a basket with me because I wandered away from my husband who was pushing it & a nice worker saw me holding several cold drinks so he grabbed a box off his cart and handed it to me. Such a kind gesture. Market seems decently clean and organized. Wish it was closer to our home because I would come much more often!

Yelp
A first shopping experience at this Uwajimaya location! Bigger parking spaces than the one located in Bellevue, that's for sure. Like the fact that it is very organized and advertised very well. Most of the aisles are marked nicely and stocked up in a good customer friendly way. Like the store and variety of selection it has for Asian food items. Not too bad at all. Will be bakc sometime again, that's for sure. Reasonable pricing and options! Good.
