The owner was serving us and food and experience were awesome. Best soul food in town! Snapper came with hot sauce and tartar and tasted delicious. Fried chicken was very nice. Baked beans were a pleasant surprise! Affordable prices just add to enjoyment 😊 Will come back.

The cabbage and yams were ok, and the containers were much smaller than expected. ($4.50 per side) Staff is a 10/10!

Food is so delicious. I got the catfish basket and it was full of flavor. Warm and inviting atmosphere and the customer service is amazing too. My boyfriend tried to get the ribs, but they were sold out. So we'll be coming back. I highly recommend this spot.

Ribs and beans are as good as i have had anywhere else at a reasonable price! I did not see much outside seating , it is more suited for grab n go..

This place has amazing food, great chicken and fish, superb sides, fantastic prices. V not only knows how to cook but is also a humble and friendly business owner who cares about his community and customers.

Can't really rate the food because despite coming here twice within their hours and all lights saying they are open, the doors are locked with no one in sight and they don't answer phone calls, which is weird for a takeout place. I'm not one for negative reviews, but at this point I'm pretty annoyed because good gumbo is hard to find in Portland. Maybe next time?

Best ribs and Mac I've ever had outside of the South definitely you need to go. The cook is friendly, the atmosphere is definitely makes you feel like home

My sister said the food was good here so I tried it out. We caught them just as they were opening. I ordered a few different things. Catfish, shrimp, potato salad, and cabbage, I believe. The food was good and the staff are friendly and patient. It took awhile for the food to be ready, I think because we caught them just as they were opening. I would go back again.

This place is a kiss on the lips. BBQ Excellence. 4 Piece rib dinner with Potato salad and mac&cheese... The smell was sweet and smokey, the after taste tingling the tongue without a burn.. Very very good and a safe bet.

The food is amazing! The only thing I can complain about is that I ordered fish and chicken, and I only got the fish! But that fish was amazing! That's why I'm still giving five stars, if you want real good, authentic soul food this is the place! their greens are amazing, sweet potatoes off the hook! You will not regret coming here, just make sure everything is complete is all.

One word immediately comes to mind when I think of V's Soul Food Shack...family. Other then the best ribs and mac & cheese in Portland, and I mean the absolute best, there's a wonderful since of family there. The staff follows all means of food safely, they are incredibly friendly and welcoming. I've been looking for a delicious soul food place for two years and I finally found it here. I can't wait to try the catfish next.

I am glad I stopped in. I asked for recommendations and bith the ribs and red snapper were suggested. Oddly, i've never eaten red snapper so I decided to give it a try. It comes with a side dish. They had delicious options and I decided to go with Yams. The yams were delicious. I mean yumm!!! I should of ordered several serving to take home. I also enjoyed the Red Snapper. Lightly breaded, nicely seasoned, flakey white meat. I know I don't have a reference point for comparing,, but it is too my liking

So glad we tried this bbq food cart! Very nice service. Tender ribs with good bark and scrumptiously thick and tasty bbq sauce. Yummy simple mac & cheese, nice mustardy potato salad, baked beans my ten year old devoured, good breaded shrimp, and some lovely peach cobbler. It's nap time! We'll be back for sure.

The fish was perfectly cooked, delicious and crispy, but the friendly service alone would have to be my key point on returning.

Tried this place this weekend for dinner. It is really solid food at a really good price. The staff / owner is also very friendly. The fried chicken is really really good and I would recommend it for sure. I also had the ribs. They had a really nice smoke flavor to them. I will be back soon to try the lemon pepper wings!

I've been here a few times. Love the greens and gumbo. I am a fan. Will be stopping here for lunch when I'm in the area. Bill_G

Stopped by for lunch. Waited 30 minutes for a 'chicken basket with one side'. Received three chicken wings (cut to make six pieces) and a cup of commercially prepared indistinct potato salad...for $10.50! Nope; not again. Chicken had good flavor but meat was tough. Potato salad was that crap you can pick up in any grocery deli. Way too expensive for what was offered.

I asked how many pieces in the chicken dinner (13.50)... answer was six. It was six chicken wings (not the whole wings either). Felt a bit ripped off.

Catfish basket was off the chain!!! Definitely a must stop if your in the area. Go here over weak ass Popeyes everyday. Plus they black owned

Excellent fried chicken! We enjoyed every bite! The owner was kind and the food was delicious.
