The staff and family at V Wine Cellar are awesome. They have a large selection of fine wines. Not your run of the mill wines but they vet their wines to ensure the customer is going home with something uniquely special. If you choose to open a bottle and kick back, they have an outdoor space worth lounging at.

Alyson B.

Google
Love the atmosphere. One of the few wineries open on Christmas and made for the perfect place to sip champagne by the fire (with the Warriors' game on in the background of course)!

Google
Don’t like being this guy, but one of the employees/managers just treated my 6mo pregnant wife like total trash. She came in needing to grab a bag of the truffle chips, and the guy didn’t want to acknowledge her trying to check out. Walked behind the counter and acted like we interrupted him. While we may not have buying much this time around, we spend quite a bit of time in Napa Valley and won’t be spending a dime here ever again. To the owners - the guy had a sideways hat on, 6’3” and brown hair.

Google
Great selection and knowledgeable staff. If you want to feel like you have a pulse on what is going on in the winemaking scene of Napa Valley and you might even bump elbows with iconic winemakers here. Definitely have to visit.

Google
Awesome selection (one of the best in the valley) and awesome service. Carlos & David are fantastic sources of wine info and their pouring selection is always top notch. One of our go-to's in town.

Sally J.

Google
Fantastic variety and some real cult good wines that you don't see elsewhere. Also some marvellous cards and accessories. Wonderful atmosphere, food and service for special events too!

Richard S.

Google
They have a great selection of wines especially California wines and lots of hard to find wines from the area. Also cigars and some nice wine gifts.

Yelp
Great spot for people watching and a glass of wine and more. Come here before dinner in Yountville for a nice wine and to browse. It has a wide variety of wines and cheeses and snacks. Outdoor area is lovey and has beautiful views of the mountains s on both sides of the valley. I recommend this place.

Yelp
GEORGE: "You telling me that wine is better than Pepsi? Huh! No way wine is better than Pepsi! JERRY: "I'm telling you George, I don't think we want to walk in there and put a big plastic jug of Pepsi on the table." - George Costanza & Jerry Seinfeld Sorry George... Wine IS better than Pepsi! Da SCENE: Staycation get away for these East Bay folks. In Yountville at the Napa Valley Railway Inn, we wandered twice to the V Marketplace, not much open but the wine & chocolate shops, we indulge in both after a rainy drive in. Da GRUB: After a short chat w/ Alan, we tasted several from the menu, with some cheese & crackers to nosh on... he set us up inside in a side room surrounded by walls of wine, very idyllic setting for a misty day.... nice start to our 3 day stay. They have a small selection of cheese, crackers and imported crunchy snacks to enjoy with your tasting. We take several bottles for later, and I inquired about a port, as I like to linger after dinner with a bit of Bleu cheese and cigar...he pointed us to a nice Topaz dessert wine from Alexander Valley instead. YUM! Da SERVICE: I'm a wine novice at best, but Alan made us feel right at home. Since on night 1 we killed half of our bottles... we stop in again and were warm welcomed. There was a little hub bub in the main sitting area, but I decided to grab a glass and a cigar for later, along with a few more bottles to re-supply in anticipation of more poker and conversation after dinner. As I wandered the store, glass in hand looking at potential trinkets for gifts, Alan surprises me with another glass... apparently the wine maker for Shafer Vineyards, the owner of the wine shop and other wine dignitaries were hanging out, among other things they were enjoying a 2015 OnePointFive Cab and Alan had scored me a generous pour... EXQUISITE. The 2015 is a tough one to find and really a treat. I made sure to walk over and thank our host/s, I found a 2019 bottle in the shop so I sheepishly asked if I could get it signed, he was gracious and I now am looking forward for an occasion to open it. While only midway through our stay, V Wine Cellars has made it a memorable trip already, HUGE thanks and shout out to Alan for being such a warm and welcoming presence. RUN, don't walk to this spot, enjoy a few glasses, maybe a cigar, step out on to the patio and ENJOY. I can't guarantee a wine maker signature bottle, but you can't win, if you don't play, so check them out!!

Yelp
I attended an event in V Wine Cellar located inside of V Marketplace in Yountville. They do have an outdoor and indoors sittings surrounded with great quality wines! Shafer was one of them! I believe it is a family owned. Servers knows most of the people that walked in. I felt a good vibe being here. Btw, owner of the Shafer showed up too. Just didn't get a chance to take pictures. Make sure to stop buy if you're around Yountville for tasting!

Yelp
I reflect the sentiment of those who have experienced poor treatment at this shop. When I went to pay for my bottle of wine, I placed the bottle on the counter. There were two men behind the counter just standing there, staring at me. Their was not greeting, no mention of whether I found everything okay. It was as if they were forced to ring up my purchase. I had to acknowledge them myself. I did not feel welcomed there and just wanted my wine. Also realized after I had left, the paper bag they gave me to carry the was torn. This was a bag they had on the counter already. Don't know whether that had to do anything with it. I won't go back and they probably would care less since they cater to a certain clientele. Giving them second to lowest rating since I found a bottle which I rarely see anywhere else. I'll need to checkout other wine shops in the neighborhood next time.

Leanne A.

Yelp
Stopped here with friends before dinner in Yountville and enjoyed a beautiful bottle of 2014 Winter Cabernet Sauvignon recommended by Scott. The outdoor patio was comfortable and quaint. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Alejandra D.

Yelp
We stopped here as part of our Yountville food & wine tour. The entrance from the marketplace was closed so we entered through the back patio ramp. I didn't get a chance to walk through the shop and it looked cute too. We sat outside in a cozy spot. We tried the cowgirl creamy cheese. It reminded me of a brie cheese, but you can't call it a brie. The crackers were cool. The wine pairing was a 2019 Kale Rose from Napa Valley. It was a white wine, not too sweet. I would come back to try their other items and walk through the shop.

AH W.

Yelp
Great place to come for a glass of wine before a meal in Yountville. They have an excellent selection of wines and are very knowledgeable. Only downfall is service, it varies. We've had some really great times here with great service, but we've also had a couple encounters with pretentious staff. It's not a big deal and comes with the territory of living in the valley. Worth the visit
google avatar

Katherine H.

Yelp
Good selection, but the markup is way too high. Bottles there are priced at 150%-300% of standard average competitor pricing. Even with the locals discount, still a big mark up. Little to no bottles in the $25-$35 range. Updates on the 2 bottles they recommended: I recently spent $220 on a white and a red from V's. Neither lived up to the price. The red they recommended was $150, there are a lot of great wines available at this price point. I opened it for a group of wine industry professionals, and the consensus was it was imbalanced and underwhelming. Disappointing experience.
google avatar

Michael Y.

Yelp
Selection here is amazing but...it's so expensive. I get the premium in Yountville food mecca of the USA west coast and all but...the wines are probably at a minimum 20% marked up from market value. You can head down to K&L in SF and get much better prices, or if you prefer, go on a few winery tours and use your winery tour fee to discount your purchase of a bottle at the winery.
google avatar

Yelp
My wife and I have been traveling to Napa Valley for years and on our latest trip, we had one of our most memorable experiences yet at.....V Wine Cellar. This was due largely to Regina, who works at V. We went to try a few glasses of wine, as they pour tastings by the glass. And we were blown away by Regina's knowledge and love of wine and her sparkling personality. We left over an hour later with a much deeper appreciation of wine and Napa Valley. She can also help you out with food pairings for your favorite wines! We can't wait until next year when we return to Napa Valley where V will be our first destination.
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
I learned to saber here. If you book directly through v wines, they charge you $25 plus the bottle. We were taught how to do it and then we chillaxed on the back patio and sipped the whole bottle. I highly recommend if your looking to do a little something different in the area of Cabernet.

Lisa G.

Yelp
As a Napa local for many years, I have never experienced such blatant snobbery and disrespect as this establishment. None of the employees offered to help us or even glanced at us when we walked in. Finally, we went up to one of the employees and asked if he could help us find an older Napa Cab (around 2007). He looked us up and down and asked "well what's your price point because you're not going to find anything under $3000" and walked away. Not only was he rude, but also incorrect in his statement. There are plenty of other wine shops in Napa Valley that sell '07 Napa cabs for well below $3000. Personally, the wine shop that I recommend is Compline in downtown Napa. They have a great selection of wines with competitive prices and EXCELLENT customer service.

Yelp
A for sure MUST stop in Yountville, excellent service. Carlos and Alan make you feel very welcomed and at home, two of the nicest and wonderful guys in the wine industry. We love visiting the shop and buying a bottle, sitting outside. The store has an amazing selection, I walked in here last weekend (social distanced) and made new acquittances/wine lovers, truly a very special shop. Thank you Carlitos and Alan!

Yelp
They have a great selection of wines especially California wines and lots of hard to find wines from the area. Also cigars and some nice wine gifts.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Great service and excellent selection of wines. Comfy place to relax and enjoy a fine glass of fine wine

Yelp
Super cool spot to grab a bottle of wine before you go out to dinner or start your day. Pricing is great and you can grab your own bottle then pour yourself. Staff is super helpful and knowledgeable.

Alexander N.

Yelp
Nice selection of wines, but the employees are not very friendly. My wife and I stopped in during a recent visit to the area, and the simple courtesy of a "hello" was not extended. We have extensive experience in customer service roles; store owners should always welcome guests within 15 seconds upon entry. V Wine failed.

Monique K.

Yelp
The clerk was blasting a rap song that kept repeating, "I don't give a f*ck about you." It pretty much summed up her attitude and lack of customer service etiquette. There are lots of great places to go in Yountville. This is not one of them.

Scott W.

Yelp
Bought a nice bottle of wine and a cigar and enjoyed a nice sunset on the patio. Thanks for the hospitality Scott.

Yelp
What can you say about a Wine Shop that has the best selection of wines in the Napa Valley and the coolest resident Jack Russell terrier ever? The Place is Great! For a shop to be offering the most recognizable high-end wines from the Valley, and the up-and-coming wines from around the World to also offer a comfortable place to enjoy the product- is RARE! I recently visited and watched some football on the giant flatscreen. The shop was a little crowded, being a weekend day, but it was comfortable and relaxed. They have nice sofas and chairs where everyone can hang out and drink. "Spud" the dog, was as friendly as the Shop owner, but even better looking. The photography in the Cellar is worth checking out, too. All local photos of the harvest. ;-)

Yelp
We are consistently ignored every time we come in here. Apparently unless you're hot and young (or appear wealthy), you aren't worth even being greeted at this place. Sad too, since I had planned on spending quite a bit there that day for my husband's birthday. Rude and snobby. I think an apology is in order considering how many people say the same thing. I'd give it a big fat ZERO if I could.
google avatar

Marc W.

Yelp
By far the best wine shop around. I frequent this shop often and they never let me down. I highly recommend you ask them for a recommendation on wine.

Yelp
We had a private wine tasting booked at V Wine Cellar, but they are open to the public as a part of the V Market place. We were greeted & led to our private tasting by a winemaker who made it his personal goal to introduce us to wines that we had never even heard of. Challenge accepted! Boris, our guide was actually the winemaker who made the first wine that he served us, an Albarino from Waterfall Winery. Though we tasted many unique and original wines (and picked up several bottles to take home), the Albarino was our favorite. It was really crisp and light, but full of flavor. He blushed at our awe over the wine & really honed in on our personal preferences, taking care to select wines tailored to us. It was so much fun! It was a really different experience than being at a single winery where there is only their wine to try. All of the wines are unique to the Napa, Sonoma, and Mendicino counties & can't be found anywhere else. Several were small batches where only 300 bottles were made. The cozy lounge beckoned us after our tasting. The Warriors game on TV drew plenty of spectators who enjoy #wnation with their wine! It was quite warm outside (well warm for the Bay Area) and the cool wine cellar felt amazing to relax in.The warm temperatures left the patio abandoned until the early evening, but the vineyard views of the nearby Domaine Chandon made for a relaxing spot to soak up the sun.

Yelp
Nothing like a chilled bottle of 2001 Riefle Steinert from the Vintage 1870 Wine Cellar using real stemware among friends under the pergola on a clear 75 degree afternoon with 5mph tradewinds breaking (rosemary) bread from the Bouchon Bakery to end a perfect day in Yountville. Sadly, there was no cheese Gromit...

Yelp
otherwise known as v wine cellar...this place is the perfect place to have an intimate dinner for 30-40 people ($500 room rental) w/ over 3000 domestic and intl wines. this second night's dinner was being hosted by one of hubby's work partners and since this is just a wine cellar, our food was catered by our very own villagio inn (next door) for a great feast! the house sommelier knew what the heck he was doing when he paired our 5 courses w/ the most delicious wine i've ever tasted. i am not a connoisseur by no means but i enjoyed EVERY glass that they poured. i've done 3 course wine pairings but never 5 and so our tables were filled w/ glasses everywhere! this is our menu/wine pairing break down: GRILLED PANCETTA WRAPPED PRAWNS w/ fuji apples, cabbage, and cider glaze (2005 crauford sauvignon blanc, napa valley) SEASONAL GATHERED GREENS w/ fresh grapes, blue cheese, and white balsami vinaigrette (2004 trefethen dry riesling, oak knoll district, napa valley) BAY RUBBED FILET OF BEEF w/ yukon gold potato puree, seasonal vegetables and black peppercorn sauce (2002 thomas michael cabernet sauvignon, chiles valley, napa valley) or ROASTED STUFFED BREAST OF FREE RANGE CHICKEN w/ fingerling potatoes, roasted root vegetables and rosemary sauce (2005 adastra chardonnay, carneros, napa valley) ESPRESSO CHOCOLATE POT DE CREAM (1999 trentadue chocolate amore merlot port) OMG...CAN I JUST TELL YOU HOW GOOD THE TRENTADUE CHOCOLATE AMORE PORT WAS?!!!! for you chocolate lovers...a definite must try! everything was soooo wonderful, the food the service and esp the finale....FINALLY, SOME GOOD DESSERT (see my pics)! this place carries lots of different wines, and even one of my fav's the chimney rock. i took home a bottle of the 2005 crauford sauvignon blanc and of course the chocolate port!
google avatar

Kim N.

Yelp
This is an excellent wine store. They have a ton of cool knick knacks, but what's behind the ropes in a collection of crazy good, hard to find, and sometimes super expensive stuff. I heard recently that they were the victims of an unfortunate robbery, where they got like $60K of goods in under 10 min. Someone was casing them im sure. But what's left is still phenomenal. I'd go for just the Domaine Leflaive inventory alone!
google avatar

Sara S.

Yelp
Great selection of wine showcasing the best labels of the Valley, along with many highly regarded international labels. Staff is helpful and friendly. A nice place to stop in if you are waiting for a table at one of the nearby restaurants-- you can enjoy a glass of wine on their patio or while you roam the store.
google avatar

Steph S.

Yelp
Really awesome selection of wines and champagne and sparkling wines. If you're looking for a place with almost any kind/brand/year, come here! It's clean and organized with some really incredibly friendly staff. They have a private closed-off area that's full of the rare, expensive alcohols so if you're looking for something really particular and fancy shmancy, just ask to check it out! P.S. it's pricey, but it's Napa. A lot of these wines you can find elsewhere for cheaper, but if you're in the area and you want to get a bottle of wine as a souvenir or for dinner, this place is awesome. They'll most likely have exactly what you're looking for.
google avatar

Martin A.

Yelp
Another great wine drinking experience! Carlos and David were very well informed on their wines and helped us decide on a glass to drink. It took a few samples to choose the right one and they sold it by the glass. The selection was amazing and they had a "Reserve" section. I was tempted to try that but decided to go with a glass of 2012 Gamba Zinfandel. It was a very nice choice. They had lounge chairs, couches and a patio deck to sit and enjoy our wine. My uncle decided to buy a bottle and then pulled the trigger on a $200+ bottle of Opus One. They discounted the bottle of Gamba due to his purchase. Definitely looking forward to a glass of that Opus One.

Yelp
A wonderfully snooty wine shop inside a boutique mall, this place is everything you'd expect it to be. As a non-wine snooter, V served only to kill time before my dinner reservations (and afforded an opportunity to make comic book jokes) and I must say, watching a bunch of affluent wine folk talk about floral notes, bouquets, and mouth-feels while they scampered about from big wooden rack to big wooden rack like over-excited IZOD-clad infants is an amusing diversion. I'd imagine the prices are going to be better at that actual wineries themselves, but hey, it's a tourist area, a little fleecing in the name of commerce is part of the bargain isn't it?
google avatar

Mal C.

Yelp
At first glance, this place gives the illusion of snooty, but do not turn away because they are anything but... Nice tastings, casual conversations, they even allowed us to picnic (yes, schlep out our own lunches) on the patio over glasses of wine. At night this place is lit up with sparkling lights. It's so relaxing and laid back. Now that is the way life should be (sorry Maine!).
google avatar

Louisa M.

Yelp
I like this little wine shop! Yes, it's in a touristy location and it caters to tourists, but they have a good selection of hard to find wines. The prices are a bit high, but it's a fun place to browse and the staff will leave you alone and won't bother you unless you ask them for help. They also have a good selection of cute and original wine-related items (cocktail napkins, corkscrews, picnic glasses, greeting cards, etc.). Worth a stop and a quick browse if you are in Yountville.
google avatar

David J.

Yelp
Without question - the best collection of California cult wines anywhere. New stuff, with age - you name it. The staff is super knowledgeable. Definitely sign up for the mailing list and ask about the cult and century clubs- by far my favorite wine clubs.
google avatar

Petra B.

Yelp
We noticed the little shops inside this market place and decided to go inside. This place was recommended to us for wine tasting by one of the information desks inside. At first when we went in we felt ignored for about 10 minutes and decided to shop around in the rest of the building. On our way out, the information desk person asked if we enjoyed it and we explained about our long wait. After she had given us an explanation of what happened and that they were short staffed after the person delivery wine made up some story about not being able to do the tastings, we decided to give them another chance. The inside of the place looks like a dark wine cellar and very rustic. They had a variety of new and aged older wines, made locally. We got to try two a white and red, before the person working there needed to go help another customer. After having been made to wait around for another 10min we gave up on tasting anymore wine and just browsed around. They do have a good selection of wines and a nice seating areas with couches and chairs along with a huge flat screen tv mantled above a fireplace with direct tv channels playing. Overall, very cute and quaint, however, they do need to take care of that vendor problem so they don't bail again and cause more customers to have to wait so long. We're not all that into wine so we probably won't be purchasing any there as we prefer sparking wines if any. But do check this place out if you enjoy fine wines as some are aged since the 1980's.
google avatar

Jonathan H.

Yelp
This place had an excellent selection of wine. A lot of the wine here is from places you wouldn't normally be able to find/purchase. If you really know you're wine, I believe you would be impressed with the selection. If you don't really know your wine, that's OK! Be sure and ask a staff member for help. They will set you on the right path!
google avatar

Julie F.

Yelp
We had some down time to kill before our fab dinner at Ad Hoc. This place is right across the street from Bouchon and Bouchon Bakery so we stopped after buying some goodies. We walked in and the first thing I noticed was WINE. DUH. They had so much wine everywhere - I didn't cruise the aisles to see selection but I'm sure they carry everything and more. The guy behind the counter greeted us and pointed us in the direction of the champagne fridges... he quickly tells my friend that they carry Krug and it was an instant sale!!! V Wine Cellar has outdoor seating so we took our champagne and enjoyed the nice weather. YUM!
google avatar

mei c.

Yelp
Wide selection of wines with prices ranging from $20-$$$. Just across the street from Bouchon. Sales associate is knowledgeable and recommended great wines for us.
google avatar

Tito Y.

Yelp
Always interested in the holy grail of just anything, airplanes, diving gear, vintage Porsche; I was able to locate a bottle of 1945 Domaine de la Romanee Conti - La Tache which can be viewed and if flavor is everything to you, can be purchased at V Wine Cellar in Yountville. V Wine Cellar carries many of my other favorites, whether upper end, rare, low barrel labels either local or international. These particular merchants also seem to carry the hard to find giant multi-liter bottles of either champagne or flight bottles as kits. They do have a wonderfully vast and unique selections, plus a changing daily taste fight which is certainly worth the time for some tastings. As for the wine that I located.... it was certainly listed as one of the very best you can buy... the bottle was listed at $15,000 at the time I was there. Not too bad, because disputably its price point, its still less money than a Porsche. A must visit if you are in Yountville.
google avatar

Claudine V.

Yelp
What a homey and comfortable wine cellar this place is. Very friendly service and accomodating. Lovely and super comfortable couches. No fee for the wine we were tasting that afternoon which led us to buy 3 bottles with a 10 percent discount. What a great deal. They also have music playing outside , so you can enjoy your wine in their outside patio. Will definitely recommend everyone to check out this place. Worth the stop!!!

Claudia J.

Yelp
Had a lovely experience in this well stocked wine shop that also has other fun wine related items to purchase if you are looking for that. Friendly and knowledgeable staff who gave me the space and time to browse on my own until I was ready to ask some questions. Great parking available too.
google avatar

Rich R.

Yelp
The least attentive staff of any off-sale shop of its scale, completely clueless of customer experience and lifetime experience. The culture is of egotistical, self-absorbed snobs who pay attention only to those clientele to whom they are physically attracted to. One purchased wine, when I got back to San Francisco, tasted like a Rudi Kurniawan masterpiece rather than the real thing. I will never shop here again.
google avatar

Dean W.

Yelp
How cool is this wineshop! Not sure who is running V Wine Cellar but its obvious they're wine geeks with a pulse on what is hip and outside the box for your traditional wineshop. I bought a $16 bottle of Austrian wine (no corkage!) and sat down in their lounge to watch World Cup Soccer on a flatscreen - in the middle of what had to be thousands of bottles of wine from all over the world - not just California. I even was able to get a cheese and salumi plate to take the edge off while watching the game. They even have a deck and seperate patio outside if you prefer to drink your wine "al fresco" As far as the wine selections, I have limited means - so I dont usually spend over $20 bucks on a bottle. I had no problem finding values - but if you like to spend the big bucks - these guys have cult wine and old vintages from Europe and beyond going back to the 60"s! Hats off to the vision and good service at V Wine Cellar!
google avatar

Steve K.

Yelp
Enjoyed a beautiful Sunday afternoon on the deck listening to music and chatting with friends. Staff is accommodating and the wines are terrific. Highly recommend.

Tonja H.

Yelp
Unfriendly and had no interest in selling us wine by the glass or bottle. Rude old man. So rude and I was so looking forward to this place

Yelp
yountville. yountville. yountville. oooo jane y was the ftr this place. hi jane!! yeah so after a wonderful meal at ad hoc, a nice walk down the street and we found ourselves in a beautifully sunny grassy area with tulips blooming just inviting us to sit/lay down/ stick you arms in waterfall..... whats this? a wine shop... you knew things we going to be right. futbol was on. i grabbed a nice grrrreweisiteres, you know that one i just can never pronounce. im grabbing some plastic stemware, guy watching futbol asks if im drinking outside? yep. i got some stemware you can use. how awesome. sitting under a sunlit gazebo, snacking on some nice bouchon herb bread, sipping some nice chilled white wine..... you really cant ask more from life than that. *cough* *cough* IM BEING TAILED BY ASIANG GANG MEMBERS IN A VAN! ummmm thats us XXXXX (names have been removed to protect the innocent) they serve food? i must go back.
google avatar

Alex L.

Yelp
Rainy day, wife was shopping and I sat down to watch the tv there. Salesman asked me to leave because I was not buying anything. No one else in the store, would not recommend anyone buy anything anyway.
google avatar

diane l.

Yelp
We stopped by her not knowing what to expect. This place rails. We had a cigar and a glass of port on the outdoor patio. What an amazing owner and wife team. Can I recall my favorite conversation with all the amazing people and tourists from all over the world. I am so happy to have found Thai place and will be back next time in town.
google avatar

Cheri H.

Yelp
Completely ignored. Never greeted as staff too busy chatting among themselves and sampling wine ( isn't this illegal while working? It is in our state). We spent at least 10 minutes in here with no welcome, no interaction. How wonderful to be so successful that you can be blatantly rude to customers. Remember that scene from Pretty Woman? Big mistake, huge!
google avatar

Melissa C.

Yelp
Really cool store that offers a huge selection of wines. What we really liked was their patio where you are allowed to enjoy a glass of wine with a cigar and people watch on a pretty day. We would return when we make it back to Yountville.
