We went for the Christmas Tree Auction display. It was lovely. The gal working at the desk was also kind and helpful to answer questions and help with purchases from the gift shop area.

The West Valley Chorus was singing Christmas songs out front and inside was the Festival of Trees displays. The museum is petite but it's a great place to get some history on my hometown. There is also a small art gallery just down the street from here and through Andrews Park. How cute that my hometown is a great place to be a tourist.

It was an exhibition about the wines of this region. I learned things I didn't know and I'm glad I came to this museum. Also, the museum staff explained each item to me, which helped me understand it better. If there hadn't been an explanation, I would probably have just glanced at it and left it at that. I am truly grateful for the tour. Also, this video was very helpful. If you visit the local residents as well as others, you will learn about the history. The contents seem to change from time to time.

They change their exhibits now and then. Now they have female underwear exhibit. The volunteers are very nice. I was hoping to see a history about Vacaville.

I've driven by the museum for years, but only went in for the 1st time recently. They happened to be having an aviation exhibit which made my pilot hubby happy. By sheer happenstance, we also met the subject of one of the displays and the photographer who took his photo 50 years ago. What a thrill! A very welcoming and interesting place.

Coming from out of town and knowing this whole area has a lot of history, I was excited to see there was a museum in town. The website states that the museum is about the history of the area so it was definitely a let down when there was none other than women’s undergarments :( I know museums have certain areas that get changed but this was the whole museum with no history on Solano county, the produce culture, the Nut Tree, etc. The ladies were very friendly though.

Yelp
The Vacaville Museum may not be the smallest museum, but it's sure pretty and a great excuse to visit the older part of the city. Yes, there is more to Vacaville than the Nut Tree and outlets! The museum is in an old historic house in the older part of Vacaville north of the freeway and downtown. Only street parking is available, but the neighborhood is nice to walk around. Did you know Vacaville was a city before Interstate 80 was built? This small museum tries to keep the history of the city alive. On my visit, the exhibit hall was dedicated to the aviation history of Solano County including some artifacts from Travis AFB and Nut Tree Airport. The exhibit was nice, but small. I guess they rotate exhibits throughout the year since the space is limited. I was a little disappointed as many small town museums often have more exhibits and history. The Vacaville Museum could use more of its space for permanent exhibits on the history of the city. There is a lot of history with the Nut Tree and local stuff I am sure. Admission is free, but buy something or donate to help them out! Virtually everyone associates Vacaville with the Nut Tree, outlets, or just a Starbucks/In-n-Out/Chevron break. But there is some history, and the Vacaville Museum does attempt to keep it alive. It is small and simple, but maybe worth a short visit.

Yelp
very disappointing. We expected a museum with information about Vacaville but absolutely nothing except a couple of items for sale in the gift shop. The featured display was quilts.....not at all what we expected.

Yelp
Super irritated with the extremely rude woman working there during the Merriment in Main Street festivities. Not sure what her issue was, but definitely won't be going there any time soon. How horrible she was to a certain young mom and her family. Made them leave because the mom had food, but right next to the mom was another woman with a whole plate of food. Then when the mom was leaving, with books given to her kids from the church down the street, the lady said rudely, "Are those your books?" How insulting to basically accuse someone of stealing. I am appalled! You should be ashamed of yourself, lady!
