This charming wine bar lets you sip and sample a broad selection of bottles, paired perfectly with artisan cheese and delightful tapas.
"This entirely casual meet-up isn’t about vying for affection or quietly crawling along on your mission of not dying alone. It’s about wine vending machines. What can you say, you’re just really passionate about the intersection between vino and technology. Yes, suggesting a casual hang at Vagabond in Fitzrovia with the person you’ve been relentlessly DMing for six months really just writes itself. No faff, zero stress, just a laid-back wine bar where you can select quality wines by the glass from snazzy electronic cases. Plus, each wine option has a very helpful cheat sheet so you can flirt via the medium of saying ‘oh, that one’s very…full-bodied’. Wink wink, nudge nudge. "As you approach this wine bar, you’ll start thinking things like, maybe I am a vagabond. One of the last real cowboys. A rolling stone with no fixed address and big bohemian dreams. None of this is true. You’re just hungry, mildly delirious, and in need of distraction. And really, there’s no better distraction than cheese, and deciding which of the hundred wines available by the glass here you’re going to try first. The concept at Vagabond is simple - you top-up a card with however much money you like, then you can walk around, check out all of the great wines they have on offer, slot your card into the machine, click a button, and the machine dispenses your wine. It might all sound a little RoboSip, but time flies here, and everything from the mushroom arancini to the Tunworth camembert is super tasty." - heidi lauth beasley
"This meet-up isn’t about the fact you daydream about what your children would look like. No, not at all. This meet-up is about their wine knowledge. That’s what you’re going to claim if they don’t try to get a bit handsy after your fourth glass of malbec anyway. Vagabond in Fitzrovia is a wine bar with a lot of exposed brick, over 100 wines to try, and some seriously tasty mushroom arancini. The best part is you can either walk around, have one glass and a lean, or try several different wines, sit down, and have a casual flirt." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing
"Vagabond is a wine bar in Fitzrovia that is home to our favourite robot since we watched Wall-E and preceded to ugly cry for two hours. Although at first glance this place looks like your average rustic wine situation, upon closer inspection you’ll see lots of lit-up, electronic glass cases of wine that you can choose from with a prepaid card. Thanks to their individual bottle cheat sheets that you can take away, it’s a pretty fun way to expand your knowledge of wine, but it’s also perfect for catch-ups over camembert, and first-dates with an activity to cover any potential silences. The food here is also really good and as tempted as you’ll be to fill up on their seasonal charcuterie, you should definitely leave room for the aubergine chutney and mushroom arancini." - Heidi Lauth Beasley
