Valerie Gordon turns out toffees, petit fours, pies, and an outstanding signature coffee crunch cake, and the Glendale shop’s adorable covered patio is a sweet place to enjoy them. Check the daily specials — quiche or a breakfast hand pie with a flaky salt-and-pepper crust filled with herby scrambled eggs, ham, and melted Swiss — then order one plus a slice of pie to complete breakfast.
