The Best Filipino Restaurants in California

"Filipino foodies tickle their fancy with an impressive selection of traditional breads and pastries at Valerio’s Tropical Bakeshop in Daly City. Google
Valerio's is like Red Ribbons little sister company. Excellent selection of tasty baked goods and desserts from the heart of the Philippines, but right here in Daly City! Affordable prices. Pinipig, Karioka, Fresh Pan De Sal and my favorite Pandesal Pimiento! I recommend buying a bag of Fresh Pan De Sal and a container of Pimiento Cheese Spread. Warm the Pandesal at home and add as much spread as you like.. Masarap!

I CAME HERE TODAY AND I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THEIR PRODUCTS THE CHICKEN EMPANADAS WERE SO GOOD AND THEY WERE WARM TOO 😍

Google
Super expensive. They have raised the price tremendously and made product smaller. Super rip off. This used to be my favorite Filipino bakery. Wow smh!

Shannon Tang

Google
Some of the breads tasted a little bit stale. The “tasty sliced bread” was $5.25 and very stale. The “bulilit ube” (also $5.25) tasted slightly fresher but still tasted like it was going stale soon. I liked the mocha sponge cake and some other pastries like the palitaw (?) but for the lack of freshness and the high price, I’m not sure if I will keep coming back. Maybe it’s because I have grown up on Chinese baked goods, so perhaps I’m not used to the taste of Filipino breads, but I had higher expectations for this bakery.

Google
Lady has a rude disposition with certain customers including throwing change on the counter. So if their sales go down this is why. Carefully review packaged food items for mold can be seen at times.

Google
I love the client care! Agreeable, Workers here are amicable and supportive. Obviously the costs are incredible as well. Bread is in every case new and yummy. Highly recommend!

Google
The best Spanish bread I've ever had! Otheriwise, if you're reading about stale breads its mainly the dinner rolls. Just make sure you squeeze a little before you buy and you're all set.

Brenda Young

Google
I liked everything I bought there, but can't remember the name of everything. Chicken empanadas, and the mini rice cake with egg inside was surprisingly scrummy, not a fan of pan de ube, personal taste only. I had another thing that had butter, cream cheese, and shredded cheese all messy on a sweet roll... sinful, take small portion.Small shop, other customers friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Carbs on carbs on carbs but oh so good! If you're looking for a delicious wide variety of Filipino pastries, this place is it! My favorite is the Ube Pandesal that has a very soft texture and the inside has ube filling. Service is great. They are always happy and welcoming. Lots of parking outside. I would come back when I have another craving!

Yelp
Cassava cake and Sapin Sapin both hit the spot. They're sooo tasty that I could probably eat the entire tray guilt free. I indulged during a recent holiday party. Filipino desserts rock my world!

Yelp
Bread, pastries and more I got a hit and a miss when I purchased some baked goods at this location. They are at the St Francis Square Shopping Center in Daly City. I didn't buy much, just a couple of baked items to take home. I got a pack of Palitaw and some Ensaymadas. Ensaymada - these were soft, delicious Filipino coiled sweet bread rolls with butter, sugar and grated cheese for topping. So soft, moist and cheesy! If you haven't tried one of these yet this is one Filipino breakfast (or lunch or even dinner) treat you need to try. Very tasty ensaymada... Palitaw - oh man, this was a bad purchase. This dessert are small, flat, sweet rice cakes. It's a traditional dessert from the Philippines. Tried one of these the next day and it was hard, like it's been sitting on their shelf for some time... and where was the toasted sesame seeds? It was lacking taste and just wasn't pleasing to eat. I do like most of Valerio's baked goods... they have all kinds of bread especially with the Ube ingredient. This was my first time at this location. I frequent the store in Vallejo. Review #2758

Yelp
always get the fresh pandesal! they also have the best ube breads and halaya! nothing can beat that!

Yelp
This bakery is located in St. Francisco Square Shopping Center. There's plenty of free parking. The baked goods that we bought were cheese ensaymadas, ube ensaymadas, bibingkas, and hopias. My least favorite is the hopia. I took two bites out of it and I was done. They're way too sweet. The bibingkas are sweet on top and salty on the bottom. However, the salty egg is way too salty for me.

Yelp
I can't say I'm crazy about this place. I mean, I've been here a few times, but only tried a couple of their items. That's because it seems asking questions about their products really turn them off. Each time, there was a hint of impatience after a questions or 2 about their pastries. Or it's an one word answer. It's not like there were people waiting. There wasn't anyone else there. I don't know, maybe they had more pressing issues to tend to. Or just expect everyone to know what everything is. Maybe they don't like foreigners, ( non-Filipino ) since one lady said something to the other 2 and they all glanced at me. OK, the senorita bread and the Spanish bread were both OK. They were soft and slightly sweet. Both are sold in 3's or by the dozen. No mix & match. That's all I know, and would've tried more if they even made a small effort to expose other peoples to their culture. It's like they don't want new people to come in and spend their money. Kind of a funny way to do business actually. They're located towards the corner of a dilapidated plaza with a closed supermarket and several shops that look like they can use a facelift, this one included.

Yelp
I've always enjoyed coming to Valerios here in Daly City or South San Francisco location. They have an abundance of sweet breads love the Turon and the egg pie pricing is also affordable.

Yelp
-1 Empanadas are shrinking and more in price! NO THANKS!! I'll take my business somewhere else.

Wiron M.

Yelp
Best bread I've had so far moist soft tasty just like back home all the Filipino bread you crave for is there
google avatar

Leah R.

Yelp
Not too sanitary.. witnessed the cashier opening the brown bag with her hand for the chicken empanadas. No gloves. I've given this location many chances, I think I'll go to the callan location again.

Yelp
Me and my mom went here from downtown San Francisco using the public transportation. It was a total of almost 3.5hours travelling back and forth. It was a tiring day and we went here to buy hopia hapon and other Filipino delicacies. Food: okay standard but definitely below than other branches of Valerios. Facility: warning: you can't use the restroom. As I've said we had a 1.25 hr travel time from downtown SF and we need to relieve ourselves somehow. We solely went here just to buy a 25$ worth of delicacies. And they claimed "they will get caught if they let us to use their restroom". Lesson learned. This is not your spot to do your thing especially urinating. It's not a good feeling to hold back your urine for 3.5hrs. I will not comeback here. Glad we have it here in SD. If ever my mom craves for it, I would rather get buying somewhere else and not travel for 3.5hrs just to be rejected to use their restroom despite buying from them. Sigh. Not.going.back!

Yelp
If you want to find a bakery with all the best Ube goodies, YOU HAVE FOUND THE ONE. After going on a hunt for ube bread and pastries all over San Jose, we decided to drive to Daly City instead since majority of the restaurants are open here. Everything is already on the shelves for you to pick from. Some are behind the glass where an employee would have to grab for you. I absolutely love all the things we got today, so delicious. I would definitely come back soon for more!

Yelp
Chicken Empanada - this is a great trail snack (food to eat on the go without microwave), does not get soggy, securely sealed for transporting, and most importantly, good tasting. Ube basket - it has folded layers of ube and sweet bread, I love it. It reminds me of the Jewish babka bread.

Yelp
I'd been wanting to visit this location for a while and I'm glad I finally did...I enjoyed some great pastries! Walking in, one cannot help but be overwhelmed by the aroma of fresh baking bread. I arrived in the afternoon and I'll assume that a lot of the more popular options were already purchased, but they still had some good options to choose from. I got a tray of small Ensymadas, Ube Rolls and Suman. The Ensymadas and Ube Rolls were very good - soft, fresh and not too sweet. The Suman was a bit disappointing...not terrible, but not all that great. Warming up the pastries a bit in the microwave just before eating was great! I'm looking forward to visiting again...probably in the morning so I can look at all the available options.

Yelp
Delicious baked goods at reasonable prices! When I was a kid growing up in LA, I used to go to Valerio's every week after school for hot pan de sal. I wasn't sure if there would be another Filipino Bakeshop that would compare, but Valerio's Daly City does not disappoint! They had a great selection of senorita bread, ube treats, and more! Minimum order for senorita bread is 3 pieces. I also got the pan de ube. If you want to try Filipino baked good, try Valerio's!

Yelp
In a run-down shopping center, that has the markings almost completely faded and pot holes every which corner with illegal dumping everywhere. Plenty of people avoiding this place except for locals. Small place with with their products ranging from $5-10 each depending on what is inside. They do take card. Lower rating because the cashier is racist against the Chinese.

Yelp
DO NOT COME HERE!!! This was their moldy cheese bread and they refused to pick up the phone or give refund.

Fionna R.

Yelp
Beware MOLD Valerios bakery in Southgate near the old pacific market. Bought cheese bread today and my daughter bit into hers and said it tasted funky. MOLD! They're not picking up their phone. Edit: just called the Callan branch to get the number for Southgate and the lady said it must have been something that happened when it was with me. I said lady it's been like a little more than an hour I don't think so! No refunds given. They want me to go drive back, show them since they really don't believe me and replace it... I really don't want to eat their bread anymore.
google avatar

Yelp
Taste of home according to my Pinay...everything in there is like being back in the PI. She grabbed an assortment of baked goods including the small chicken empanadas, a semi sweet dough wrapping a shredded chicken and carrot mixture, I love these bad boys as a mid-afternoon snack or meryenda...I say YES to any food outside of the cursory brekkie, lunch or din-din. Bring on the carbs from the four corners of the earth, just be prepared for something that isn't a PB and J or chocolate croissant.
google avatar

Melissa A.

Yelp
I love this bakery for the CHICKEN Empanadas!!! I can't get enough of it!!!! There's other items like cheese pineapple breads, ube breads, I can go on. Just stop by you're bound to leave with bags of goodies

Yelp
Yummm. Randomly stopped by here with my boyfriend for the first time and got the Ube and Cheese rolls that were on display. I believe they were 3 pieces for $2, so 6 total of both only came out to $4 which is a pretty good deal. We were so pleasantly surprised that the inside of the cheese rolls were actually cream cheese! It tasted good quality too, like the Philadelphia brand. Mind you, we picked these up at 5PM so we did not have high expectations but these still tasted SOO fresh and soft! I love how it was nicely coated with sugar and butter on the outside. Man, this was such a guilty pleasure.
google avatar

Yelp
The bake products looks delicious but majority of their food are made with Mochiko by-products (rice flour) instead of real ingredients like sweet sticky rice, etc. They're producing a shortcut approach baking and food preparation therefore it's not as tasty and becoming like gummy chewing and swallowing the dese

Yelp
I've tried to explain to them that they've made a mistake on labelling. They want to argue with me. You guys decide, please look at the picture below

Yelp
Growing up in SoCal, I'd frequent the location in West Covina, so I'm happy to have this location nearby. Love their pan de sal (Filipino dinner rolls), Spanish rolls (I think this is a Bay Area thing only--but this has cheese crumbles on top and sweet butter and cream cheese inside--think Starbread but richer and cheesier), and ensaymada (sweet sponge cake with sweet salted butter and cheddar cheese on top). Tip: ask for their hot pan de sal and eat them right away, especially if this is your first time trying pan de sal. Pan de sal comes in two sizes: small (dinner roll size), and large (about the size of 3 dinner rolls). Big free parking lot. This location is in the innermost corner of the shopping center, and the sign and outer windows are a bit dingy, but don't let that deter you. Fresh, quality bread at good prices.

Yelp
I was in Daly city picking up a massive amount of swheat scoop kitty litter since it was on sale. They were sold out in every store in the entire bay area except for daly city. After picking up the 100 lbs we proceeded to Valerios to pick up some Yum yums for our drive home. This store is located in an old shopping center, and the store itself looks like it hasn't been renovated since 1980. It smells delicious when you walk in, and there are trays of fresh baked goods in the display case. I would avoid the package stufd because I got a package of pandan rice which was all moldy. Ugh. The cheese rolls heer are amazing !!!! Super buttery and creamy. The chicken empandas also had huge Chunks of chicken. Super affordable and fresh but stay away from the packaged stuff/ or thoroughly check the inside.

Yelp
Went to a hot pot spot nearby and discovered this bakery, I think they are Filipino. Because basically almost everything had UBE which is one of my favorite food! Their pastry is so good and if you see my photo they have this one dessert or pastry that looks exactly like a pastry that Chinese people has, not sure what's it called in English. But overall a awesome spot and will come back in the future! Highly recommended if you love pastry and UBE!!

Yelp
Can't stay away from places that are associated with strong childhood memories. I love everything from the pan de sal to the chicken empanadas. That day, I picked up a dozen chicken empanadas, which are essentially mini hot pockets. It's about $14 for a dozen, which is a pretty good deal because it's a little over a dollar per piece. There's an option between chicken and beef. The popular choice is the chicken, which I personally prefer over the beef. I think the seasoning used to make the chicken tastes better than what they use for beef. These were hugely popular at work. I brought 18 pieces, a mix of chicken and beef, and all that was left were 3 pieces the next day! I also grabbed a small box of pastillas, which is a cylindrical milk candy. It's sugar-coated condensed milk pieces. I am not such a huge fan of them though. I just decided to give it a try because it was under $4 for a dozen pieces, which is cheap compared to other places. I love the Goldilocks pastillas, but it's almost $12 a box! I just like how they're softer, chewier and sweeter than the ones at Valerio's. The Valerio's ones tasted a bit bland like you're eating solidified milk. At least I tried it for myself. If you're looking to try other baked goods, the pan de sal is great, especially the ones filled with ube. If you're in the mood for baked goods in general, this is the place to visit if you find yourself in the Daly City area.
google avatar

Ali F.

Yelp
I love going to Valerio's to get Filipino baked goods. Highlights are their senorita breads which come with different fillings/toppings (cream cheese and ube stand out), bibingka (textured sponge cake in banana leaf), pineapple cream cheese pastry, and chicken siopao buns. You can't really go wrong. I've also had their green pandan cream roll which was good but made too sweet. The flore de ube (ube bread cupcake with sugar on top) was good, but I think a soft sponge cake style would be better. It looked so good though. And their empanadas were pretty good.
google avatar

Cindy A.

Yelp
I was a bit upset. I went there today and normally Valerio's is pretty good. I bought cheese ensaymada which they did not keep in cool place/fridge. Normally you would have to keep cheese in fridge. Got home and had the ensaymada and found some mold on it both outside and inside. Waste of my money. They should really check and store things properly especially on hot days. Make sure to check yours before eating it.
google avatar

A C.

Yelp
Some good stuff some bad stuff, Ensymada has a high turnover rate, so its fresh, so is the kunsinta. Out of the pan de sal, the deluxe chicken I noticed is always fresh, the Adobo pan de sal I would avoid. bread maybe fresh but the adobo inside tastes old. cheese bread I would be skeptical as well as the pineapple looks like its been sitting there for awhile I brought one home and it was pretty stale. the cheese bread had a hint of green coloring im sure that wasnt food dye.
google avatar

Yelp
So what if this place is Ghetto? I think it's GhettoFOBolous!!! This is the 2nd location in the Peninsula and this is closer to our place. The wifey and I would come here after work and order the usual Pan De Sal and Spanish Bread. I hate to admit that I'm not that much of an expert on Pinoy pastries but I'm willing to try anything....especially if it's freshly baked straight from the oven and leaves a wonderful aroma lingering in the air. If it weren't for the wifey, I'd probably order two of each kind that they make here. But being a typical and dutiful husband, she needs to have me on a leash; otherwise, I'll pig out....literally. Besides, she has my wallet while I have my Man-Purse.
google avatar

Peter L.

Yelp
- Pan de Sal slice bread - Chocolate Nut Cake is similar to a walnut brownie. - A bag of Pan de Sal is my usual. - A Bulilit bread-Pimiento is like a cheese-filled Danish pastry with red bell peppers chunks. - An Ensaymada with cream cheese filling. Cash-only, but I'll be back for the free coffee. In the St. Francis Square shopping center, at the midpoint of Southgate Ave between Junipero Serra Blvd and the Westlake area of DC. That's probably the easiest way to find it without doing a bunch of twists and turns from the surrounding freeways.

Yelp
MmMmm Masarap... Ok, that's sadly the extent of my tagalog that I picked up from my Chinese/Filipino father when he would eat something he found deliciously satisfying. And, "MmMmm Masarap" is all I can say about Valerio's. Having an upcoming picnic to attend to, I thought the empanadas would be a great item to bring given the rave reviews on Yelp. It's been over 10 years since I had any baked goods from Valerio's so I thought I do what any foodie (and fatass) would do and "taste test" before buying them in bulk for a picnic. Although there's two Valerio's locations, I choose to come to this one to avoid the horrid parking situation at the King Plaza location. Though parking was a breeze, I wasn't able to escape the *bleep*tard drivers. Listen my Asian peeps, if you can't drive in the first place with glasses thicker than the hubble telescope, you should NOT be driving while talking on the cell phone. *ahem* Lady driving the brown Honda CRV yesterday. But, I digress. Valerio's is an old-school Filipino Bakeshop that carries a plethora of breads (savory and sweet), empanadas, cupcakes, turon (fried banana egg roll), etc. Everything is under $3, which is a great reason to derail off your lo-carb diet; well for a day at least. Being born into Generation Broke, I rarely carry cash on me so I started grabbing random things that I remember having as a kid to make the $10 minimum so I can use my credit card. Although Valerio's carries a wide variety of baked goods, as other Yelpers have mentioned there's only TWO THINGS that you should come get: CHICKEN EMPANADA and PAN DE UBE! *MINI CHICKEN EMPANADAS (3 for $1.99) - Generously filled with finely shredded savory pieces of chicken with a hearty crunchy crust. The empanada is more crumbly and dense as opposed to flaky. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/nKcCBO_jbn5zkJ0aO2VGLw?select=fW0HmyIgLhJBF3ju8jcpBQ *PAN DE UBE ($2.99) - To non-asians or those unfamiliar with Ube, don't be daunted by its vibrant purple color. Ube is just a purple yam. Valerio's fills their fluffy soft pan de sal with ube that's creamy smooth with a delicate sweetness. A quick 10 second pop in the microwave and you have the perfect breakfast with a cup of coffee or tea. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/nKcCBO_jbn5zkJ0aO2VGLw?select=i1qLIbnzuE_fyRWvb7czPw *MINI BEEF EMPANADAS (3 for $1.99) - Filled with ground beef, potatoes and peas. Bland compared to the chicken empanada. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/nKcCBO_jbn5zkJ0aO2VGLw?select=kHPhYZtQ9uvG6VnmdQ5d1g *UBE CUPCAKES ($1 each) - Like a Filipino version of a cinnamon bun shaped into a cupcake and topped with a smearing of buttered crystallized sugar. The ube and the sugar balance each other out so it's not too sweet. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/nKcCBO_jbn5zkJ0aO2VGLw?select=HZMgIGsAAHvtli5ANbMINw *CHEESE PIMIENTO ($1.99; but $2.79 was on the price tag) - Soft fluffy pan de sal filled with a cream cheese like filling with a very subtle kick from the pimiento peppers. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/nKcCBO_jbn5zkJ0aO2VGLw?select=3jreUj4z62HaxLUMML4MxQ Valerio's baked goods are just as good as I remember them. Maraming salamat sa inyo, Valerio's for bringing me back to my childhood days. Oh, where would I be without Google Translate?

liss c.

Yelp
I have bought the chicken empanadas over the last 10 years. The price is almost double and the size is smaller. I understand things get more expensive over the years but size SHOULD stay the SAME no??? When you pay more for a smaller size is just a rip off! :/
google avatar

Amelia H.

Yelp
Its been awhile since I bought baked goods at Valerio, Daly city location. I asked my cousin who lives in Daly to bring me my favorite pan de sal. Valerio pan de sal is still one of the best I have tasted. It is soft and tasty. No complaints. However, I couldn't say the same thing for their Ensaymada. The bread is moist & sweet. But very dissapointed on the topping. The classic topping we all know is butter and sugar, some add cheese. But why Valerio's would you use CRISCO BUTTER FLAVOR product on your topping?? I know so because my aunt used to make cookies from Crisco's recipe printed on the pkge. I know what this fake butter/lard taste like. The worst taste ever. Butter is not expensive. So is margarine, you did not fool me. It tasted gross even if you drowned it with granulated sugar. We had to scrape it off the bread and use butter we had , Kerrigold. Until you replaced your Crisco topping on your ensaymada with REAL butter, you lost our business.
google avatar

Samantha A.

Yelp
Pan de ube - love the way they make their fluffy buns and perfectly sweet fillings. The senoritas (cheese buns with sugar crusts) are also pretty legit because it's hard to find that in the bay. Been coming back here many times and they have not disappoint :)
google avatar

Deborah W.

Yelp
This bakery has been around for as long as I can remember. No, it's not the kind of bakery where you can find your typical birthday cakes and whatnot, but more like a Filipino bakery with ube fillings in a bread or cheese/spanish senoritas. There's a huge variety of bread, cupcakes and all sorts of baked goods that are already prepackaged in a plastic container or you can just go to the counter because some of the items that are out on the shelves will be here. Maybe they're just freshly made but they're about the same price anyway. I have found myself coming here more often whenever I'm back at home in SF and just discovered cheese senoritas and cheese rolls. For those who don't know the difference between the two, they're essentially the same thing (bread with cream cheese filling) but the cheese rolls have sugar sprinkled on top. So good! Overall, it's definitely worth checking out!

Jean S.

Yelp
I'm new to Filipino desserts but this place did not disappoint!!! The ube roll was just the right amount of sweet and the Pande Racion were so dense and buttery. Super friendly staff as well
google avatar

Melissa Y.

Yelp
I came in knowing nothing about Filipino baked goods and came out wanting MORE OF EVERYTHING! We tried: Cheese rolls: powdered sugar donut with generous cream cheese filling. Like a combination donut+bagel Chicken empanada: delish! Beef empanada: also good, but I preferred chicken Ube basket: taro bun. my friend claimed they were so good he could've eaten all 4. Highly recommend. Puto: steamed rice cake, tasted like a really dense cupcake Pastillas de leche: milk and sugar candy - a little rich for me but still good! Everything was so affordable which is how we ended up trying so many things! Will definitely be coming back anytime we're in the area.

Yhel J.

Yelp
This place was actually better than the one in West Covina, lots of selections and the breads are fresh
google avatar

Donald W.

Yelp
This is another gem in Daly City that specializes in traditional sweet dessert from the Pilipino culture. Although it's nestled away in the corner of a run down looking shopping center, the large selection definitely makes up for it. One of the perks of coming to this Valerios tropical baking shop is the wonderful smell that consumes you're nose when you're in the vicinity of the bakery. They have Sweet cheesy buns, señorita breads, sweet rolls, pan de sal, and pan de ube. They even have dinner rolls made with lots of butter and baked to perfection. Let me just state this, nothing here is healthy!! But that's not why you're here. You're hear for fresh and delicious foods that take you back go childhood. The staff here (mostly ladies) are extremely friendly and very professional. They'll remind you of an aunt or other family member. The parking here is terrible! In fact it sucks. so if you need to park some distance and walk to the bakery then it's no big deal because you'll find yourself eating tons of sweet goodies.
google avatar

Dawn V.

Yelp
Everyone swears by this place as the best Philipino Bakery and I was staying nearby so I had to try it. I am not Philipino nor am I familiar with Philipino bakeries so I can't compare it to anything for you. As an outsider, I will endorse: The Cheese Senorita! (long pastry stuffed with cream cheese-ish filling. My fave! The Ube Basket and/or Mondo Basket: Husbands favorite! Young man in front of me spent $60 on bags of goodies to take on the plane, home to his mother in St Louis, so if that's not a vote for authenticity, I don't know what is!

Yelp
This location didn't have much .. I like the King drive location better .. Cuz they also Has Sui bao and noodles and bread more fresher there.. I won't be coming back ..:(

Yelp
Bought this yesterday morning around 10am,without really checking it ,thoroughly, went home n when I was going to eat it saw it has molds already,I was so disgusted you guys make sure,if ever come to this store and buy something make sure to check

Yelp
Love Filipino bakeries! They offer so much, it can be overwhelming which one or two or three to get. It's not the best quality but if you're craving for some fresh baked bread or other starchy desserts, come here. Oh yeah came here Christmas Eve and they had a lot of goodies, they said they were open on Christmas day.

Luz P.

Yelp
Yesterday I bought a dozen beef empanadas. What a waste of money! They changed their recipe. Now, they're made with some dark ground beef with peas and some weird smelling/tasting spices instead of shredded beef. I tried one and it tasted horrible. Needless to say, I'm going to have to throw them in the garbage. No one in my family liked this "new recipe". They're not fit for human consumption. THEY ARE THAT BAD!!!!!!! Besides the fact that they are too expensive (1 dozen for $19.99). They're almost half the size of what they used to be. I have been a regular customer for a few years now. But, unfortunately, that will no longer be the case.

Yelp
I want a basket of ube basket. Seriously, the ube basket is a swirl of purple pastry heaven--airy soft bread interlaced with layers of sweet ube paste, baked to an outer layer of golden brown perfection. And at 3 for $2, you'll probably never again want to get $2.25 Starbucks/Peets pastries. The ube ensaymada is popular as well, but I'm already baskets happy with the ube basket. (Plus, ensaymada sounds like emphysema)

Yelp
STEAMED SIOPAO CHICKEN!!! YES....YES.....YES!!!! There is always time for siopao and ube rolls. For me this place understands my cravings for pastries. I typically enjoy my ube rolls because it is my go to for quick a breakfast, snack, or after dinner dessert. But, today I had to venture because I add some extra cash to spend. Oh boy, this place was not ready for me. Today was my first time here considering I grew up about a mile from the plaza where this bakery is located. I'm so glad that I came in today because this place just sucks you in, especially with the smell of fresh bread roaming around from every corner of the store. The moment you approach the door you can see bags of bread through the glass window. When you open the door and walk in you are immediately engulfed in a world of sweet bliss. Between the banana plantain, cheese rolls, ensaymadas, pineapple breads, chicken senoritas, and the bibinkas there are plenty of options to choose from. I feel so wrong for wanting everything but it takes some restraint to be decisive when shopping here. It is clear that if you want amazing bread then this is the place for you. There is bread for days on end. Whether you want it filled with something savory or sweet the options are available and abundant. But, during my visit I just kept it simple and got my ube rolls. The pricing is perfect. All the items seemed to be priced at a cost that is affordable and reasonable, you gotta LOVE THAT! If you have a chance to stop by the plaza and grab a baked good come on in to Valerio's! #sweetgoodness
