Picked up my online order that took about 35 to 45 minutes only to be extremely disappointed when I arrived home. My nachos were a sad glob of dry beans, stale chips and some chicken. I was missing ALL of the condiments (cream, guacamole, cheese and tomatoes. As for my tacos tthey were extremely disappointing as well, I did not receive rice, red salsa, green salsa, or onions on the side. Same for the burritos that were ordered, no rice or salsa on the side. Driest food ever, to top it off it was all cold! I would not recommend the bakery unless you enjoy extra protein in your bread (flies). Waste of money. You can get better Mexican food from Taco Bell.

There were not enough fried chicken, Robert from the kitchen, this guy step up and assured me with my order with a smile! I've waited 30 mins for fresh fried chicken. Quality service, this guy is an employee of the month!

It's got you basic good here. There is a meat counter as well as pre-packaged meats. You can also buy some prepared items near the meat counter, such as ceviche, rice-pudding, and a few other items. There is also a separate section with cakes and other pastries prepared on site. You can also buy some prepared hot food such as carnistas, rice, beans, pork in red or green sauce, beef soup along with a few more items good for a hot meal. The prices are fair, definitely not Gelsons but a few items seem a bit overpriced. One downside is that registers with human cashiers are rarely all open. Seems like they are trying to push shoppers to self checkout. Getting harder to fight "progress" The biggest negative is the poor management in the parking lot with the delivery of merchandise by the semi-trucks at ALL hours, All the time. A long time ago the semis would roll pretty far back into the docking area with minimal disruption to the parking lot. Over the years management has essentially let the trucks take over a significant portion of the lot. The trucks park far away from the loading area so the forklifts can offload. This isn't a back dock area, this is the front lot. Essentially making the disabled parking spot unacceptable. Is a bird line violation of the ADA. The semis block so many spaces and cause congestion. Really wish they would find a better way to do this. Guess they don't really care about xustomers' shopping experience.

I just went to vallarta and was on the self check out. The cashier machine kept requesting assistance and made the employee, assigned to self check out arrea, to come multiple times. At the third time he was extremely rude and annoyed and say "I will just do it myself." This attitude was not appreciated as it is his job to assist customers. I am in my 30s and it made me think about how customers who may be older are being treated when needing help. Please do better.

Great store where you can find pretty much anything at competitive prices with Great Customer service. Love their Cocina/Kitchen with a variety of Mexican dishes and ready to good food. My favorite spot for my Daily Energy Drinks and Alkaline Water. Also my favorite spot for my Carne Asada and Beers for Sunday funday.

Parking is bad! Non handicap vehicles parked in handicap spots. Cars parking in cross hatch spots that take up space for delivery trucks. Tortillas & tostada spread out across 4 different spots. Needs to be more organized.

They hire a bunch of teenage kids with absolutely no basic manners. No thank you, no hi, constantly talking to each other while ringing your 4 items for about 5 mins...zero stars

I came here looking for a specific seasoning that this market carried. I wasn't able to find it at first, but the employee kindly told me the aisle that it was at. A lot of the items in the store are on the more expensive side, but the store was very clean.

Of all the times I've been here, I've never had a 'bad' experience. On the contrary, it's always been good. Of all the food I've ordered from the meat dept, the bakery, to the kitchen, has always good. Because of some language challenges, I've encountered some challenges with the service, but it's was always quickly resolved. And the general atmosphere and ambiance is inviting clean and friendly. I go to this market a lot and plan to go there more on the future.

Your early hardscrabble days define admirable milestones, even as I ate your rancid rice a while back and again recently. More on that later. When Vallarta Supermarkets was born in 1985, the Coca Cola Company debuted New Coke, CDs were the rage and Mexico City's 8.0 magnitude destroyed too many lives. Times have changed and in some ways for the better--not you. It was also the year that Vallarta became the promise of dreams. Founded by Enrique Gonzalez Aguayo, the Sylmar-based market began shaping its future by strategically catering to Latinos, operating from a 1,000-square-foot market in Van Nuys, Calif., according to one of the company's bios. That small business (then Carnicería Vallarta) has become an American staple with a Latino heart as a thriving family-owned business today boasting a portfolio of 50-plus locations, according to a Vallarta bio. Noting your impressive and ascending path, I was left with a rancid taste in my mouth--literally. I purchased rice and it was spoiled. That happened again not too long ago ... with beans. [CUE THE MARIACHI MUSIC AND ONE TEQUILA SHOT] THE CALL Me: Hi, can I please speak to a manager? Employee 1: What is this about? Me: I have a concern as a customer and need a manager, please. Employee 1: One moment. Employee 2: Hi, can I help you? Me: Yes, I was there last night and bought rice and it was spoiled. Employee 2: Wow, I have never heard of that. Never. That's weird, never heard of that. Me: What's your name and are you a manager? [Pause] Employee 3: Hi, this is a manager, how can I help you? Explaining the entire ordeal from start to finish, again. Employee 3: What do you want me to do? Me: I am not going to pretend to do your job. What can you do about this? Employee 3: I can give you your money back. Me: I'm less concerned about the money ... I just want to make sure others don't have to go through this.. Can you send a rideshare vehicle or taxi to pick me up and return me home? Employee 3: [Erupting in laughter] .... no I can't do that, but I've got to go, I have customers waiting... Me: But I am a customer, too, and I am asking if you can help me with this issue and you're laughing? Employee 3: I'm busy, I have to go. CLICK. Hangs up. Then, I decide to call Vallarta Supermarkets HQ Receptionist: How may I help you? Me: Can you please verify who the CEO is? Receptionist: Who are you? Me: I'm a customer and I just want to confirm the CEO's name? Receptionist: Why? Me: Because I have a concern that I need addressed and need his name. Is the president/CEO Enrique González, Jr.? Receptionist: Mmm, aaahhh, mmmmh...[PAUSE] A similar scenario happened not too long ago. A MESSAGE TO VALLARTA Mr. Gonzalez, Jr., it is not lost on me how much your business is a major contributor to the local economy and communities. However, my experiences have been very disappointing and I have been repeatedly ignored and treated poorly--others have as well. Spoiled food that cost a few pennies will unlikely harm a system that is flawed and takes advantage of people. However, the way I was treated by your employees says plenty about the Vallarta culture. Beyond the perfectly written press releases and employees that seem agitated, defensive and insecure about handling their jobs ... speaks to a work environment that is extremely off ... at the cost of customers. You can blame the post-pandemic world, economy, politics and anything worthy of a slick press release if you like, but the truth is that something rancid is dripping from the top of Vallarta Supermarkets. I previously read that Vallarta prides itself by 6 essential core values: "CUSTOMER SERVICE, TEAMWORK, HUMILITY, RESPECT, COMMITMENT and INTEGRITY." A major fail ... take responsibility and let your machismo culture go. Speaking of that ... machismo within your company is getting the best of your business. One male employee told me to leave because I was speaking to a female employee about more spoiled food: fried chicken, pupusas and beans. I walked into your business as a reasonable patron with serious concerns and you, nor your risk-management team, could handle these basic inquiries and provide a small refund considering how much money you take in and how much I have spent there through the years--no more. I never expected a ride share offer for your failed efforts, but neither did I expect a machista to hang up so quickly when I first called in about spoiled food. Happy 40th, Vallarta ... ONE STAR: It stands. ¡Firme!

I had a truly touching experience at Vallarta this morning, thanks to one of the bakers in the bakery section. I wish I knew his name, he does drive a Camaro! His kindness spoke volumes. He went out of his way to help me by carefully placing my cake in my car, making sure everything was secure. It wasn't just his willingness to help--it was the care and extra time he took that meant so much. I'm going through a difficult time, and sometimes, small gestures like this make all the difference. He made me feel safe, valued, and seen, and I want to express my deep appreciation for his generosity and outstanding customer service!! Plus what a great job with the cake!

Amazing products and reasonable prices. They also have the best meat cuts for carne asada

I'm standing in deli section waiting to be called up to give order but cashiers are having their personal conversation...not greeting our acknowledging customer...Customer Service MUST IMPROVE, aren't the customers what keeps business open ?

I can only attest to the juice here. & when I tell you it never fails me, I sincerely mean that. I come to Vallarta solely for the agua frescas. The service is always speedy for the most part. The price is on point. I always feel like it's giving fresh, and refreshing to say the least. The sweetness ratio is appropriately approximated. Parking is a layup their own parking lot available. It's a clean setup with a solid amount of cashiers available. You can opt for a prepackaged juice option in an ice chest situation on display, or you can place your order directly at the counter where there is also hot foot available for purchase. You do not have to get in a separate line once you've placed your drink order. Tap pay is conveniently available for use. If you want something quick and easy to drink for the low, this is where it's at. Lately my go to here has been mamey, but I've gotten a fresas con crema on their seasonal menu along with countless flavors I enjoyed just the same.

Horrible management. Terrible meat quality. Definitely will prefer to go to a local meat market instead.service is not great either. Feels like they're trying to rush you.

Security just harassing you while buying. I was getting meat and from a distance he was just watching me like bro I got money I don't need to steal lol. Also followed us around the store trying to act slick about it but I knew he was following me.

Big tasty burritos, carnitas style, rice, beans, and a tajin-dusted bad boy of a jalapeno. Appreciate a quick-n-go meal, especially with their self-service checkout.

Best tres leches cake I ever had. My coworkers loved this cake. Store is clean and organized. Staff is helpful and friendly.

Bought a few pieces of Mexican bread at Vallarta. I bought my favorite which is an elote. It tasted horrible, I couldn't even finish it. I think something is wrong with their recipe. I'm not going to even eat the other bread I bought

Omg..Tuesday 9/13/22 I bought Ojos de way pandulce=GREEN MOLD Didn't notice until ready to eat..soooo grossed out, I tossed it out to garbage can!!

I placed an order for a cake, and the guy who took the order specifically wrote on the note the details that needed to be done. When I got to the bakery, I was given a cake that looked as if a three year old wrote on it. On top of that, the borders were pink, and the cake was white. I was so upset that the cake was meant to be all brown with brown borders for a beer theme. Antonio, as I was told, is the cake decorator. He needs to pay more attention to the orders. I overheard his colleagues stating that he does a crapy job. I felt as if he just rushed to get the cake done. The cake looked tacky. I had to remove the pink borders so it can look some what descent.

I've ordered this same plate (Majarra) several times. The size of the fish is hit or miss but this time it was a good size. It's usually 1/3 of the size smaller, however, somehow despite getting the size of the fish right they included most of the grease from the fryer smh. My larger issue is the size of these "sides". I was told by an employee and a manager that they are the same portion of the small parts of the partitioned container- "nah nah I say, nah nah". I understand that we're living in a time of inflation but I'd rather you increase the price than to ever be subjected to this kids' meal again Vallarta!

Monday I went and they had these containers which were pre-poured for $8. I purchased an Horchata one and kept it refrigerated. This morning i opened it to find it was all sludge. I'm putting 2 stars because it was good when I first poured it on Monday evening and I hadn't opened the lid to look inside. Should've gone to Northgate their Horchata hasn't disappointed yet

Made a big mistake buying a tamale from Vallarta. One would expect a Mexican market will sell good tamales. But no. Ended up throwing it away. It was dry and tasteless

If I could leave a -5 stars I would I've ordered like 3 cakes here in this exact location and never in my life have I been this disappointed like this past time and the fact that this cake was for a super important occasion but the older lady who took my ordered was so confusing didn't quite seem to know what she was doing. Have in mind I always order marble cakes and the reason is because I love the fact that the swirls of vanilla and chocolate are together gave it another flavor but nooo this order was a mess she gave me vanilla ontop and chocolate in the bottom like the point of "MARBLE CAKE" is to be combined together.... And the fruits I requested weren't added as well... just won't be ordering ever again recommend hiring older ladies that know there pricing & different flavors /: she clearly TOOK NOTE of what I wanted but couldn't please the customer !

They get two stars because the breakfast burrito was nasty. The tortilla was soggy and it was falling apart, it was a complete mess and the worse part is that it was $8.00, not worth it at all. The bolillos, sweet bread, and donuts are very good but the cakes are old. The fruit on the cake looked old and dry and it seems that they've been sitting there for days, I personally wouldn't buy a cake here. The rotisserie chicken is bomb and I do recommend it. The fruits, vegetables, and meat are always fresh and the ceviche here is the best in my opinion. The store is small but very clean. The staff is nice, friendly, and helpful. Plenty of parking space available but due to the coronavirus plandemic people have to wait outside and wait due to store restrictions to avoid overcrowding

SHOULD GET A ZERO Seafood that was on a dirty ledge was out back in display. I was purchasing cevice when my container fell onto a small ledge in front of the display. The worker retrieved it for me. She then picked up several pieces of raw shrimp and a filet from the dusty ledge and put them on top of the rest of the seafood. When i asked her why, she shrugged at me and gave me a dirty look. After speaking to the manager i went back and the dirty seafood was still for sale. It does not surprise me because neither he not the other employee I spoke to about the issue asked me to help identify the dirty seafood or the worker who put them back on display. Imagine what goes on when customers are not looking. I guess the one star can go to them because they have a bike rack unlike many of the neighborhood stores.

I've never seen any security in the parking lot, but I have seen young guys stealing groceries from the bed of pick up trucks, and from unlocked cars. Thieves can take off in the alley and escape almost unnoticed. A quick grab and go. There's always a lot of people in the parking lot besides customers of the market because there is a recycling center in the parking lot, and a key shop in a private residence garage that backs onto the parking lot, as well as a lot of pedestrians on Lorena and Whittier Boulevard. So a thief can blend in with the crowd easily.

Worst customer service ever!!! Mya the cashier in line 2 has a really bad attitude when it comes to helping customers , she speaks to you looking somewhere else with a mean frown face.. For some reason she doesn't have the answers to the questions asked . Or maybe she just don't want to work , I went yesterday night and she was not helpful whatsoever. She gaved me attitude and was charging me for things that weren't supposed to be charged. I asked her why was she charging me a certain amount and she said "i dont know i cant void it " so i told her can you check and she grabbed the receipt all mad and gave it to me so i can look for her error , At the end of the day she was charging me extra and said i was going over my balance so she ended up charging me out of my pocket when i still had money on my card but she was so sure i had zero balance and made me pay the remaining

This review is about my favorite Latin grocery chain in the world and it's most soulful location. What's up home boys and home girls. If you know what good is then you love this place. First of all East LA is just an awesome antidote for your spirit in general. Couple that with the soulful smell of a Panaderia and what have you got? Vallarta East LA. This area on Whittier is fun stuff for finding colorful restaurants. Stop in to Vallarta East LA from the Gold line on the Metro. Vallarta will give you a ride back to the station once you are loaded down with groceries free of charge. Isn't that cool? Whatever Latin decent you are, you will find a sought after staple here. Peruvian yellow cherries? Colombian cheese bread? Lulo pulp? You name it. You miss that soda from El Salvador? Vallarta is your best shot at finding it. For those of us with Latin hearts, your knees will bend a little when the smell hits you from the bakery as you swoon and surrender. No matter where your heart hails from Vallarta will convert your heart as well.

I love to shop Mexican markets because it feel like, getting product at the market without going to Mexico and crossing the border. All my life love to drink Mexican soda because they use real sugar cane with no corn syrup no other ingredients. You can find Mexican sodas in every market because they are getting very popular. .

I like to pay with my debit card as credit option but the machine at the checkout stand would only accept payment with my debit pin . I work at a bank and see fraud alot. Although I've never experienced fraud here, I didn't like that I did not have the option to pay with credit as an option unless I walked myself to a different check stand. I recommend for management to upgrade their equipment so that all clients have the option of paying with the debit card as a credit option and not have to enter Their pin.

They have a terrible system for holding shopping bags from other stores in the front before letting you in. Most places give you a matching number with which to identify your belongings before you leave, but here you just leave it on the floor if all slots are taken. Taking the bag inside is not an option, the fellow in the front will simply not have it. When you express concern about your items getting lost, he says they won't, but that there is no guarantee. Yesterday I accidentally took someone else's shopping bag on my way out because I was rushing to take the bus. I didn't realize it until I was almost home. I had to go all the way back. I went in, left the wrong bag, took mine and went out. Nobody questioned it. I could've easily taken any other bag. So long as you don't enter the store past the turnstile with a bag, you are pretty much free to take anything or anyone's belongings out the store.

Scam Alert! Don't come to Vallarta anymore. They are forcing you to enter your pin on all transactions done with a debit card. Debit cards can function as both debit (entering a pin) or credit card (I'd and signature). With all the data thefts that have been happening it is imperative the you protect your pun at all costs!

I was at Vallarta browsing the bakery section when I spotted the item I've been waiting my entire lunch hour for--a large cup of tres leches cake with a red swirl and cherry. The problem is it's behind the glass counter and unlabeled, and the employees back there don't know a lick of English. The guy behind the counter says, "necesite ayuda?" And I respond, "deseo un pastel de tres leches en vaso, y un vaso de arroz con leche." Ok--I don't speak Spanish! That shit came out of no where, and it was miraculous. So I left with my tres leches cake, rice pudding, and a couple other cake slices that I grabbed from the refrigerated section outside of the counter. (I also considered getting some other baked goods from the self-service bakery until I saw the giant flies just chillin on the pan dulces.) The cake was hella good. A cup is always a good sign for tres leches cake because that's how you know it has mucha leche (see, there I go again with the Spanish). It was soaked--like someone blasted that shit with a Supersoaker gun filled with milk--and the strawberry syrup made it reeeeally sweet. The rice pudding was also good, even though it only had four raisins. Everything was cheap as hell too! But why's it gotta be so far away? *shakes fist at Vallarta's store locator*

My abuelita is in town so I decided to take her to this Vallarta location to pick up some much needed grocery items for some sopa de fideo, mole, and salsa. Since my grandma is from a blindingly white suburb of Denver, I thought she might get a kick out of a down-home kind of Mexican market where she could check out a larger supply of the items she normally has to pay higher prices for at chain markets. Little did I know how crazy she would get over this place! At first she seemed a little overwhelmed, but by the produce aisle she was in hog heaven. I have to agree with my grandma-- this place is pretty amazing. The most awe-inspiring thing about it are the low prices on the fruits and veggies. 99¢ avocados, 2 lbs of tomatillos for around $2.50, and dirt-cheap tomatoes and onions. Everything else there is a pretty good bargain as well, and get this: four bags of groceries? Seventeen dollars. $17!! The sticker shock is higher for the likes of me since I usually buy my groceries at Trader Joe's or Whole Foods, but prices like these beat Albertsons and even my local independent grocery stores. To quote my grandmother, Vallarta is great... "you can't beat it with a stick!"

Lots of good Mexican products and beer. It has a bakery (panaderia) as well as a butchery (carniceria). Plenty of fresh vegetables, fruits, etc. They also have an inside restaurant with plenty of food to clog your arteries with. Good Mexican food, but oh so bad for you especially since its not home made. Eat at your own risk. I find this place very pricey compared to other local markets. The place of business has plenty of parking, however, use caution as it also has plenty of suspicious people probably on drugs looking to steal. There are also beggars. The outside is typical to the neighborhood "dirty". It's seems to be the norm around here. Not my personal place to shop.

I am generally a long time Vons shopper. My store was Vons at Topanga and Roscoe. Also very close by was a Vallarta ( Roscoe and Owensmouth. ) Vallarta was ok until i saw roaches in the condiments station and a bad stink in the poultry section. Now, Vons closed its doors and Vallarta moved in to that location, and Wow! They did a great job to give Vallarta a face lift! Super nice looking store, even have a pretty damn good Sushi station! Very impressive job to modernize and make more attractive for everyone. The only negative: still playing that Spanish polka music (&loud, at that!) that makes shopping there difficult. Just not my bag of tea. Gives me a headache. Come on, Vallarta! Pipe in music everyone can listen to! (Or none at all)

I bought everything on my grocery list for $27. They have my Mexican home cooking essentials, fresh diverse produce, a parking lot :) and other home needs like Almond milk and ice cream. I used to go to the one in Santa Clarita. It was a life saver out in the middle of nowhere where affordable, diverse and plentiful groceries are scarce.

I don't live in the area, but today I was grocery shopping for a family member who does. This place has got to have the rudest cashiers around! To begin with I was in an aisle and one of their employees enters it carrying a broom and then proceeds to sweep around me and then over my feet! When I looked at her and said "excuse me", she looked at me, the customer, as if I was in her way and should have left the aisle I was shopping in so that she could sweep. She didn't apologize or acknowledge her wrongdoing. You don't sweep over a customer's feet! You wait until the aisle is empty and then you sweep! Second, while I was at the check out counter, I asked the cashier for an extra bag because I didn't have enough bags for everything. This incompetent woman proceeded to simply scan all my items and then leave them at the end of the counter. She didn't bag them. Mind you, this place isn't Food 4 Less, where the customer bags their own groceries, these cashiers at Vallarta are getting paid to scan and bag! I bluntly asked her where my bags were and she handed them to me and I told her that "yeah, the bags are for the groceries you're supposed to bag!" and I swear to God that she looked at me with the most blank look on her face as if English wasn't a language she understood or she was several IQ points short of being of average intelligence! Where do you even find these people and why do you hire them?!?! All they do is pick up items and scan them. The register does the math for them and yet they think it's beneath them to bag groceries?!?! GTHOH! Incompetent entitled morons.

Amazing marinated meats. I love their Carne asada so much, I asked for it for my birthday last year. Their pre made guacamole, salsas, pico de gallo, tortillas are all bomb! Before your next bbq, pick up everything you need here. Everyone will be asking you where it came from. The decor is also pretty hilarious and the produce is great and cheap.

This is my favorite Vallarta..maybe because it's the one I've been to the most. Anyway, they have delicious and inexpensive crab meat here as well as any other meat you can think of. The people who work here are really helpful as well if you need any help. Also, pick up some pan dulce on your way out! :~)

The marianted meat is sooooo delish! Just had a suprise party for my sister and bought the meat here and it was a huge hit at the party! So was the salsa!

I couldn't do more than that. They used to have a pretty good supermarket back in the days. Well, years ago to be exact. I have to say that customers service is not that great. There're a few cashiers that they are professionals. The security is does not have a good system for customer's belongings. So, don't go to Vallarta with shopping bags or backpacks. The security will make you leave them unattended. Okay. I bought almond milk tha one with horchata. It was 2 for $6.00 (great) An hour ago after dinner I opened the bottle and the milk was rotten. I called the store and the lady who answered the phone said she would transfer the call. She did. The manager never picked the call. I called back again. The same lady, transfered again, I was on hold listening some banda music ( ) I don't like banda. Got tired and hunged up. I am not going to go talk to the manager because I lost the receipt. The lady told me: Oh you should come and talk to the manager. I said since I don't have the receipt it was better for me to call to inform you about your products. Then she said she was going to transfer. :/ Another bad experience from many. Oh and today I was informed they don't provide the packing service anymore. The cashier helps you! It doesn't matter if you buy $200 $300 so. We better get use to it.

If I could I would do no stars!!! Walked in to buy a cake( because I really do enjoy their cakes). Spend 30 minutes ordering a custom cake walk to the register and the rude cashier says he can't take my American Express corporate card! Because it had no name... Granted the custom cake was for work and spend 30 minutes designing a cake with the manager sooo she was aware of my whole event that was upcoming! The manager said I needed a badge from work to purchase. I said I wear an apron to work I don't have a badge to show but I was more than willing to bring back something in writing. I even asked them to call my job .. And nothing Needless to say they denied my purchase and weren't even sympathetic!

Okay me and my wife just bought a house close by this market we went into the meat section to ask for some ground beef the butchers were very rude not only to me but to other customers that they served before us !!! My wife is one of the most patient persons I ever met and she is a sweet person I couldn't believe the way they tried to serve her like if she was one of there red headed step child's the butcher had this mad dog face and attitude I had to step in and tell him what's your problem why are you acting like a punk with not only my wife but with all the customers he tried to give me an attitude but I told him you ain't gonna give me your macho man bs!!! act like a grown man if not I'll kick your ass in the parking lot after you get out of work !!! This is all dumb and a customer shouldn't have to get ready to box just because customer service ain't the way it should be ? The lady butcher was also rude to customers stay away from this place or if you want some action go order some meat you'll get it lol

Vallartas is the best place to get ranchera for the summer BBQ's. Every time I cook this, someone always asks me "where did you buy the meat". You can also get some of the best guacamole, salsa and pico de gallo there as well.

For a market that is targeting the Spanish community and take pride on being pro the community they sure act very abusive towards their Spanish clientele. I purchase a juice maker using my credit card (did not get ID when using it) and got a gift receipt. My dad did not like the way it worked so I gave him my credit card, original receipt, and gift receipt to go exchange for a different product or return it back to my card or store credit. Vallarta claimed I had to be present with my ID to return product and refused to give him store credit regardless the fact he had original receipt and gift receipt for the item in questions. My dad, a non English speaking senior citizen, was being jerked around and kept standing for over 1/2 hour. It wan't until after I called several times and waste 15+ mins on hold that they were able to assist my father. This is the first time I hear that the gift receipt requires the original buyer to be present for a return/exchange, this is beyond stupid as it defeats the purpose of issuing a gift receipt. I have shopped at many places and I am disgusted by the way Vallarta on Sepulveda in North Hills humiliated my father, leaving him waiting, as if he has any need to wait around for our own money.

Location is great! Has produce and items that are otherwise hard to find in the area. Love to "to-go" food as well!

Great prices but limited selection. Haven't tried the cooked food but it looks okay. Sometimes I see flies in the store. Don't know what can be done about that but I really don't see that when I go to Ralph's or Albertons. Beer selection sucks. Tecate and Bud Lite seem to be the preference locally so, oh well.

I came here in search of cooked food. I bought half a dozen of tamales. Which was around 12 dollars. When I got home, i unwrapped them and they were small, hard, and very dry. I opened the pork tamale and it was mushy in the center yet hard on the outside. Parts of the tamales were un chewable, like plastic! The taste of the pork was another story! It tasted like gummy meaty medicine! The chicken tamales were also very mushy dough with an odd flavor to the meat. There was barely any sauce or chicken in them. The bad thing was that I had bough 6 tamales and felt bad that I made my family eat them. If I would have known, I would have preferred to buy them somewhere else. I guarantee you that I will not be coming here anymore for cooked food. Avoid this place for cooked food, you're better off making the food yourself.

great freash meat , but a bit pricey

I have shopped at Vallartas in SoCal many times over the last 10 years. It's the last year that I've realized, perhaps Vallarta isn't so great anymore. First, I love Latin food, culture, and people. Mexican and Salvadoran cuisine are my favs. I am African American and I share a beautiful three year old daughter with my fiance, who is Hispanic. "Is she bringing up a race thing?" Yes and No. Here is what I've experienced the last two months at Vallartas... 1. Yesterday I approached the bakery and looked for the attendant...I looked to my left to see two female employees watching me with my daughter waiting snicker while watching us while staring directly at me. The older of the two laughed still looking directly at me and shooed the younger employee over to help me. I, taken aback asked the young lady if she was sure she even wanted to help me make considering she and her coworker were behaving as they were. She then pretended that she didn't understand what I was saying. 2. My fiance and I stood at a hot food deli for five minutes while others who arrived after us kept getting served. Fed up my fiance asked one of the workers why we weren't being helped. She pointed to the the side of the counter and told him we were standing in the wrong place. Understand there's no "line forms here" signs nor tickets with numbers being called. She obviously saw us passed up and made no gesture to inform us voluntarily. She saw and did nothing. 3. The Vallarta I will NEVER go back to is on Oxnard near Vineland in North Hollywood. My daughters favorite thing to so is go to the bakery and pick a cupcake. We did just that before checkout. While checking out, the cashier, male in his twenties, dropped my daughters cupcake causing the icing to smoosh all over its container...he preceded to continue ringing us up. I kindly asked him if he could get us a new one as my three year old that saw this was getting upset at her messed up cupcake. The cashier completely ignored me. I asked again kindly. He ignored me. I asked a third time, this time my fiance interjected because how rudely I was being treated. He unenthusiastically asked another employee to get another; more unfortunate is the giggles the shared at our expense talking in Spanish so we couldn't understand. This cashier began the transaction off speaking English to us , so it wasn't that he couldn't understand our simple request, he just didn't care. We finally asked for a manager, who was quick to assist us and offered corporates number so we could complain. Disturbing is what I call that unfortunate experience. Never again. I'd love to say I've stopped shopping at Vallartas all together. Instead I ask my fiancé to go in with a list as we wait in the car. I'm working on being comfortable enough to shop at Vallarta again. I wish I didn't continue supporting a company that has employees that make it clear I'm not wanted there, where I am of no value. Thing is, my daughter is not just African American, she's Hispanic too. And I refuse to teach her that treating someone with lack of kindness and respect because they "aren't like you" is okay. I want her to embrace being multiracial...l want her to rise above bigotry and prejudice...mostly I want her to treat others the way she wants to also be treated.
