We came for dinner and had an excellent experience from start to finish. The staff was so helpful and attentive. Every dish was fresh, full of flavor, and generously portioned. The house margaritas were outstanding, definitely a must-try! The restaurant itself was clean and comfortable. Felt like we were on vacation. Highly highly recommend!

Google
Food is always amazing 👏. Great staff. everyone I take there loves it!! They're open late night again on Saturdays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. It's kind of Awesome. Before COVID I had been going almost every Saturday night around 1:00 2:00 or 3:00 for like 6 years. I'm happy I can do that again. I've tried almost everything on their old menu before new ownership. It looks basically the same. But all I get ever time is .......................................... Chimichanga Shredded chicken No beans, double rice mandarina jarritos and 💧 water Cheese dip.. and / or guacamole dip

This was my first time coming to this restaurant. I don’t remember the dish that I ordered but, the meat I had wasn’t too chewy at all & the sausage was very flavorful. I had no idea they had karaoke. It was really loud, I could barely hear my friends talking. Plus, we sat quite near the speakers. If you don’t like loud environments or are hyper sensitive to noise, then you might not like it. The food is 10/10, I’d come again even though it was a bit too loud for me. Overall, great restaurant. Kudos to the kitchen staff & servers.

Was seated right away which was great!! However the table we sat at smelled like dirty bathroom water , not sure if it was where we were sitting. The waitress was super nice and attentive. It was my husband and 3 kids. It was only 5 of us!!! the 2 kids didn’t even order food just ate from our plate. !!! We noticed after paying that a 18% gratuity was added, when we had already given her a tip! The menu and other places say party of 6 or $200 or more. Our total was not $200. It was upsetting to see trying to take advantage. Trying to sneak that in.

Google
It was ok. Came here on a Thursday when there was a house margarita special. Got the margarita, and they charged me full price- it was too sweet. The shrimp taco was flavorless. The chili relleno was one of the best I've ever had at any Mexican restaurant. They have a lot of seafood options, more than any other Mexican restaurant I've been to.

Google
First I’ll start off with saying that the atmosphere of this place was very warm and welcoming, my server was Karla and she was very nice and informative about the menu items. Also, she made me a mango chamoy margarita and it was amazing! I can’t wait to come back.

Google
New owners and I can definitely tell they've made a lot of improvements. The service was amazing they attended our party of 10 tremendously. They had karaoke as well, it was a ball and the food was delicious! I had the ceviche highly recommended!

Google

Mos def a hidden gem the staff extra friendly and food comes fast. 10/10

Yelp
This is my go to place in Raleigh! This is a hidden Gem on Capitol Blvd. We have been eating there for the last 6 years after we were informed about this restaurant. The food is wow it's liking being at someone's house. Portions are huge. Had the Speedy Gonzales taco and enchilada shredded beef huge and very tasty. My wife had the chimichanga with shredded beef. Had the margarita flight tasty too. The server Vero was so sweet and special the food came out very quickly she gave great service. She brought us an order of guacamole before our meal it was excellent. The place has a very Mexican vibe. This place is a must visit.

Yelp
This place just to be only Mexican food but now they are a Dominican/Mexican food and OMG !!'n the food is delicious. I now have a place where I could real Dominican food and they know what I'm talking about when I tell them the drinks and food from my country and they have it. The staff are really nice and the atmosphere and decoration are nice as well. I really like the table you sit onto they really fancy. They have 2 menus you could choose if you want Mexican food or Dominican food. I've been to this restaurant before when it was just a Mexican restaurant and their portion were big. I have place some pictures and hopefully a video ( if it goes through). I will be returning back to this place.

Yelp
There's a lot of family restaurants on Capital Blvd. checked this one out with my dad, and got the special ramen bowl. Yes, at a mexican place. For how crazy food is in Mexico, I'm happy to see a restaurant in NC take a chance on a dish like this, and know that the locals will appreciate it. Staff was nice, though they will upsell you hard and check in often. It's understandable, considering their location and long hours, they are trying to make sure everyone gets paid. Seems like on the weekends they have a reputation for birthday parties because I think there were four of them all at the same time! It got pretty noisy. Hectic, kinda pricey, but would go again. Would go again. Open late.

Yelp
No lleguen aqui. They changed owners fs, bc it is not what it used to be. Terrible service, with rude and unknowledgeable staff. Waitresses stayed in kitchen, playing hide and seek. Food was late, came out burnt and cold somehow. Never got a single refill. And they charge for chips? Yeah, don't come here, not worth it at all.

Helder M.

Yelp
Worst food ever . Service was trash food was burnt . No exaggeration got the fajita everything was burnt the cook had smoke all in the restaurant . Shit was ass to be honest . Never coming back and charged 18% tip for trash

Johana G.

Yelp
When we got there we got sat down immediately, which is great however, the first table that she tried to sit us at the seats were wet and she moved us to a different one , however , there was a smell not sure if it was at the table or around the area, but it smelled like dirty bathroom water. There was a speaker right above us, and it seemed like it was blown out, throughout the whole visit They were playing music and that one speaker was just blown sitting right on top of us, the noise coming out of it was awful. Our waitress was super nice and friendly and was very attentive cannot complain. My husband and I went with our three kids two of the kids didn't even order a meal only drinks. I noticed on the menu it said a 18% gratuity will be automatically added to tables of six or more or $200 or more. After paying and leaving an additional tip, we realize that our waitress had added the 18% gratuity already on our check.!!! do not like the fact that they try to take advantage thinking we might not speak English and our check was not $200! Not sure if I would return just b/c of that, the food was actually pretty good!

Damaris E.

Yelp
This place use to be really good, not sure what has changed, service wasn't good, waitress didn't know the menu. When asked what items came with the food she said "idk" and didn't even try to look for an answer, we waited over an hour for our food to come out and when it finally came out the food was cold and unseasoned. Tried to get waitress attention several times to get refill but she would ignore us. Wanted to really love it because this place use to be so good but this place has gone down hill. Will not be coming back

Orlando R.

Yelp
Authentic Mexican seafood restaurant everything was so good the shrimp Diablo the huge and delicious margaritas cold beer and very upscale Mexican style colonial building

Sarai E.

Yelp
Was my first time visiting this restaurant, and the food and service were absolutely revolting.Food was extremely burned and over salted . And took a long time and was expensive.

Yelp
I love this place! Absolutely love it! Mexican is pretty much my favorite cuisine and this is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. Firstly the food...oh my goodness so good and for a great price. There are so many options is can be a bit overwhelming, but the staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is fresh and cooked well and the portions are large! I usually get an order of the choriqueso (chorizo in the queso) which isn't available everywhere. I love chorizo (a slightly spicy Mexican sausage) so if a restaurant has it I'm going to get it. Then my usual is the nachos with grilled chicken. The grilled chicken is so fresh and the portion is huge! I either have to share or split it over a couple meals. Even the take out portion is large. It comes standard with queso, guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, and grilled full jalapeños. The salsa and chips are unlimited and also fresh. Next the service and operating hours. The service is always great and fast and everyone is friendly and helpful. Their hours are unheard of for any other restaurant. They are open pretty much 24 hours on the weekend. Seriously they are. Great after a night out when you don't want cookout or breakfast food. I've been on a few occasions around 2-3 AM and I've seen a mariachi band (that's good) and people steadily flowing in. Lastly, why I only gave 4 instead of 5 stars..the drinks. I usually don't order drinks because I usually go early morning hours (after a night out) or get my food to go), but the last time I went I ordered a Jamaican (hibiscus) margarita on the rocks with no salt. Although the presentation and price were great, but the drink was not tasty. It was so strong that all I could really taste was tequila. I appreciate a strong drink but the flavor was not good. My friend got a pina colada and it was the same thing. Very strong to the point that it didn't really have a lot of flavor. I'm definitely willing to give the drinks another try, but I did not enjoy them.

Yelp
Awesome homestyle Mexican food with humongous portions- come hungry, leave full and with leftovers. I was hoping to try their churros, but their fare was too yummy to leave room. I went with their chimichanga and queso as an app, and would recommend both to anyone and everyone- especially the queso. Their cheese is on point and their homestyle chips (and house salsa -complementary) are bomb.com. 5/5 stars - would def come back next time I am in Raleigh.

Abigail M.

Yelp
The music is so loud for no reason, you can't even have a simple conversation without yelling across the table. Los meseros tienen un actitud feo, están en su celular envés de atender la gente. Se ve todo de la cocina, hasta cuando están metiendo la mana en los chips para comérselo. And to top it off they all hang around the host table and just gossip. I'll come back and let you guys know how the food taste. The food was pretty good, it matched the pricing. And it was a good enough portion for it as well.
google avatar

Natalie P.

Yelp
The atmosphere and vibes were on point but the food that I had ( chicken fajitas) were not all there. I paid about 25$ for a meal that was just decent or not traditional/lacking flavor. There was kareoke and I got to sing a song on a Saturday night and people were coming in even though it was 10/11pm. I don't know if it's what I ordered or what but the food was not all there for me. I am Mexican and recently moved to the area and was in need of some Mexican food and this was not it.

Yelp

Yelp
Great spot. Mariachi band on some days. Excellent late not spot. Try the tacos, fish and drinks - all at an excellent price. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Went for date night and was so disappointed that we did. I got carne asada and pollo tacos. The chicken was dry and I gave up trying to doctor them up to eat it. I ate one of the steak ones but that was with the help of lots of hot sauce (green stuff in pic). It was dry. I had a strawberry margarita that tasted like pure mix and I'm sure there was zero alcohol in it. Very nice waitresses. Very bad food. I felt bad that my date still paid for the food.

Yelp
During the stay at home order because of Covid-19 my husband and I have really been craving Mexican. So I was extremely excited to hear that they were open given the circumstances!! Some of the best pork carnitas I have ever had have been from this restaurant.

Alex S.

Yelp
The food is way too expensive considering it was dry and bland. The drinks were flat and the horchata was slimy and spoilt. The chips were stale even after getting fresh made. Even with all of the problems we had they still charged full price, tip included and didn't provide and discount or anything. I wouldn't even tell my worst enemy's to eat here.

Yelp
We were driving into Raleigh late at night and were in need of some dinner. This restaurant is in what appears to have once been a fast food restaurant kind of tucked away off of Capital Blvd. We initially chose the place because it was open late night. We were pleasantly surprised. We both ordered tacos, a mixed plate of carnitas, barbacoa, lengua, and asada. Excellent. The kicker was the avocado habanero salsa that was brought to the table. Any top notch taco is made by the salsa! ( That phrase ought to be chiseled into the brink of the Taco Hall of Fame, and if there isn't a building like that already, there ought to be one built ASAP) The other significant piece to the taco is the tortilla which, at that time, appeared to be hand made, as the thickness was slightly uneven and was not perfectly round. It was good. Top this meal off with horchata for her and a few cold Dos Equis for me and you had a pretty good experience without spending a lot of money
google avatar

Cindy N.

Yelp
Hands down the best Mexican food. I come here at least once every week or two. Their tortillas are made fresh. I always get carne asadas Mexican style. The atmosphere is always fun and festive. It becomes difficult to converse with the live band at times, but I highly recommend to give this place a try.

Yelp
You can never get enough Mexican eats and when you've got a place like Tacos y Mariscos Vallarta open 24 hours a day, you've also got no excuses! Located in a brightly colored building on Cap Boulevard, I was finally able to stop in for an early lunch. Inside you'll find that the place reeks of authenticity, patrons are mostly latino which is always a good sign to me. The smallish lunch menu is the basics, tacos, burritos and more, I go off the usual path and do a mochaca con huevo which is basically a beef and egg scramble. While the lunch prices at Tacos y Mariscos is a touch higher than I'm used to, when my plate comes out I understand. It's a ton of food, lots of beef and egg, beans, rice, avocado slices, jalapenos and some tortillas to munch it down with. The meal is really quite good and service excellent so I was a happy boy. So gosh, Tacos Y Mariscos Vallarta, I can't believe this is my first meal here. As much as I still love Los Cuates, this place is another good option for Mexican in the area, don't miss out!

Yelp
If you're looking for more "traditional" Mexican food rather than the Americanized tapas/TexMex/Cabo style food then this is the place to go! We decided to give it a try when on a late Sunday night we found ourselves craving tacos and this was one of the few places open. So glad it was, because the live mariachi music was fun, the drinks tasted great, and the food was super affordable and tasty! My boyfriend originally ordered fish tacos, but after entering the order our waitress came back and said it had sold out, so he ended up with a chicken chimichanga which he enjoyed. I ordered the small vegetarian burrito, which was HUGE, but delicious as well. The margarita was yummy (not too syrupy) and the small was still plenty large enough! Chips were warm and fresh. The salsa wasn't my favorite as I found it a little thin and flavorless, but some people prefer it that was so if so, then this is for you!
google avatar

Deby F.

Yelp
This restaurant used to be great. I've been dining here for about 6 years. In the past the food was fantastic. The service was good. But in the last couple of years everything has gone downhill. The quality just isn't there. And prices are ridiculous for the small portions. I am not giving them anymore 2nd chances!!

Adrienne C.

Yelp
I love service, amazing food!! Best Mexican restaurant in Raleigh!! They have karaoke night and the atmosphere is very nice!

Kayla H.

Yelp
$7.50 for a Negra Modelo... How is that even legal at a Mexican restaurant? Prices aren't even on the menu
google avatar

Nicole C.

Yelp
Good food, clean restaurant & very friendly staff. We had brunch here yesterday. The plates are really big. My plate was enough for 2. My husband , who usually finishes his food, was so full after eating half of his dish. I ordered chilaquiles which came with 2 eggs, beans, rice and salad. It was very tasty.
google avatar

Stefanie G.

Yelp
I had my dads birthday here and it was such a great time. They made sure all of our food came at the same time and we had 16 in our group. They sang happy birthday and just an amazing time. The food was great and the atmosphere was great. I would definitely recommend this resturants to anyone
google avatar

Daisy J.

Yelp
If you like Mexican food, there's plenty of standard dishes familiar to choose from, authentic and reasonably priced. My favorite is the pork stomach taco. While I have my preference to get tacos from taco trucks, this place just has really good tacos. ( Well, it's part of their name ). The mariachi band on Sundays is there to impressed. Their knowledge base for Mexican folk/ popular songs is evident. If you like seafood, this place is one of the top picks in RTP area. Fresh, clean oysters in half shells that don't leave you with a mouth food of sand. ( You oyster lovers know what I'm talking about). Crab and fried whole tilapia, seafood cocktail/ tostadas totally worth every penny. In the hot summer heat, this has become my favorite place to get fresh, cold, clean oysters. You're definitely missing out if you haven't been here?!?

Yelp
First, thanks my fellow Yelpers for suggesting this late night Mexican spot. We went on a Thursday at 10:30 pm and the place was packed! They even had a live band playing...don't be alarmed by the humble building, they know how to cook in there! Let's get to the food. We had the quesadillas (shredded chicken) Yummy! Also the beef tacos with cilantro, onions on corn tortilla. Beef was bland. No spice at all. We also tried the nachos. They were great! And loaded with peppers, which we love! I will say they also give you enough chips, salsa, guacamole and pico. The margaritas are delicious as well. We will definitely be back.
google avatar

Nicola W.

Yelp
Thought the food here was really good. If you are not from the area, it is a little hard to find as the sign for the restaurant is not too visible. The house margaritas on the rocks were not that good, but the frozen margaritas were a much better mix (they are also pretty large - enough to share for two).

Nicolas C.

Yelp
Great vibe and very authentic Mexican. They had mariachis playing too and you get chips with salsa for the table.

Yelp
Whenever I'm in a new place, I can always fall back on Mexican food as a pretty solid choice. I quickly went to yelp to find a place and was a little overwhelmed when so many restaurants were in the area making my choice even harder. We eventually took our talents here and I'm so glad I did. We were sat immediately and then brought complimentary chips and salsa which were delish by the way. The menu was pretty large and had a variety of options to pick from and for affordable prices. I settled on the wet burrito topped with green sauce and cheese. I choose mine to be stuffed with fish versus the normal beef or chicken options. The food was almost perfectly timed to come out once we devoured our entire basket of chips. It was a hefty plate including rice, beans, greens, and some guacamole. Let's start with a few of the things that were a bit meh. I thought it could have been more cheese sauce, but that could have been me being greedy. The beans were a bit bland, but once I added a sprinkle of salt and pepper, all was good. The burrito was super filling and they weren't shy on adding the fish which was well cooked. The meal overall was good and was the perfect meal to accompany my coronorita which was good, but a bit too sweet and ironically, a bit too salty as well. What I loved most was the experience. I don't know how often, but the Friday evening we went was Karaoke. I enjoyed being able to listen to people brave enough to get on the mic at a place full of hungry people waiting for thrower food. Thanks for the great food and service!
google avatar

Nikki G.

Yelp
This is my go to spot!!!!! I get the same thing EVERY time I go, the Nachos with shredded chicken, ground beef, and sometimes I add shrimp. Add a side of queso and extra salsa and I'm a happy woman. They also win me over by being open late night.
google avatar

Victoria G.

Yelp
This is a great Mexican restaurant. Not as fancy as torero's but the food is excellent, the service is noteworthy and the prices reasonable. Plus the servings are quite large and I always end up with a meal for home later! I almost hate to give it such a positive review because I don't want it to be inundated by foodies!
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
I was very disappointed in the food, but service was very attentive. The crab was imitation the shrimp were small tacos were over 3.00$ apiece beans tasted like they were out of a cheap can
google avatar

Angela B.

Yelp
My absolute favorite! Found this place one night when I found out they were open super late... it was after midnight. They are the most authentic Mexican restaurant in Raleigh. Best margaritas and every thing we have eaten is fantastic. Great service and prices. Definitely recommend you try for yourself.
google avatar

Andrea H.

Yelp
First time visiting this location with the Mr. It is one of his favorite places so I decided to tag along. I had always passed the location but never really thought about eating there. The wait staff was friendly when we entered and we were seated immediately because it wasn't crowded at all. Typically like any other Mexican restaurant it takes no time for the food to come out. I ordered the chicken quesadilla but had to send them back because the cheese wasn't melted to my liking. The only reason I didn't give them 4 or 5 stars is because the waitress was not as attentive as I would have liked. We had to get another waitress to get her to refill our drinks. I would definitely go back because the food was good and I believe in giving second chances on customer service.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm fairly certain this is the closest to authentic Mexican food that you can get in Raleigh. We've driven by it on Capital Blvd several times, and Sara always said she wants to go... so we gave it a shot. And boy were we surprised! When we walked in, there were a couple Hispanic men playing the guitar. What a pleasant surprise to have authentic music while enjoying your meal!! We were quickly greeted and our experience was great from here on. I'm pretty sure almost every employee in the restaurant stopped by to chat for just a second or two during our meal, which was super friendly. Sara also pointed out that the restrooms were super clean, which is always a plus :) The chips and salsa are no joke- the salsa is extremely fresh and delicious. I also asked for hot salsa, and they brought two different kinds- one was kinda smoky tasting & the other fresh jalapeno salsa. For my entree, I ordered two chicken enchiladas with extra beans instead of rice. The chicken was perfectly seasoned & excellent pulled chicken- not canned chicken like some places use! Sara got a wet chicken burrito and it was equally tasty.

Yelp
This spot was pretty decent. Got the strawberry frozen Margarita (it was soooo good) and a pollo quesadilla. I enjoyed the meal. Our waitress was nice as well but she didn't really understand English. Not a big deal. It's not that appealing when you pull up but the food is good.

Yelp
Don't let the location fool you. Also, don't let the decor both inside and outside intimidate you. This place is one of the few spots outside of Texas that has really stood out to me. I usually don't eat Mexican food west of Texas because it's usually just a let down. The food is amazing. It's not heavy with sauces, coatings or frying. Everything is done just right so the flavor comes through and remains balanced. Chimichanga was perfect and the refried beans are some of the best I've had, anywhere. Well seasoned and cook right. My party of 8 all enjoyed their food and the complimentary chips/salsa were great. I think they fry their own chips there, which really sets it off. The customer service is what took this rating from 4 stars to 5. Yeah it's traditional to order in Spanish, but I wasn't intimidated to speak English and all the services worked with me. Also, the manager was very very kid friendly. The candy/treats table had lots of traditional Mexican fair to choose from. So my niece paid him and lot of comps were thrown in. I was amazed by the overall service. The music from the TVs isn't loud either. I wish I didn't have to drive back home, because I'd really like to have taken advantage of that bar menu. Anytime I'm in that particular area of Raleigh, I'll be stopping by here again, for sure.

Yelp
My second time here. Lots of good food, entertainment and just plane fun!! This restaurant is a good ways from my home but when in this part of town.... this is my "go to favorite "

Yelp
A student recommended this place to me, so I figured I'd give it a go. I should say that I am always apprehensive about Mexican and Italian joints. More often than not, the experience is similar and the food varies from average to slightly-better-than-average. Boilerplate menus drive me crazy. So, we popped in here after a quick visit to Sam Ashe (name lot). Right when I walked it, I knew we had found a more genuine Mexican joint. The decor is fun and bright, but the place was full of enthusiastic Hispanic servers and patrons. The music was NOT Mariachi (another sign that this place is more genuine), there were big families eating together, and the real kicker, the served breakfast. Why is that important? If such a place serves breakfast, it's a solid hint that the local Mexican (or Hispanic) community not only dines there for lunch, but is so dependent on the place that they go for breakfast as well. Big win for me. We had a ton of food - all good- and even more drinks. Their Mexican beer selection is the best I've found in Raleigh as well. Will be back for sure.
google avatar

Shaun B.

Yelp
The food here is excellent. And they are open 24 hours. How have I not tried this place before now? I drive past it every day. We had sopes, steak ranchero, and ceviche tostadas. The ceviche tostadas are not on the menu but they will make them for you. And they are very fresh and very tasty! I will be back to this place. The reason for the 4 vs 5 star was the noise. They were doing karaoke and it was so loud that we could not talk to the people at the table with us. And the service was very very slow. But worth the wait. If you have not tried this place you are missing out on some of the best authentic Mexican food in the triangle.
google avatar

Jeremy A.

Yelp
Good place to get your late night Mexican fix at and they carne asada was pretty good. I also got the tripa tacos which were ok although I didnt care for the chorizo. They had a mariachi band setting up which we werent late enough to be around for but I will definitely have to come back to check that out. Its a good late night place but theres other options close by during normal house.

Yelp
Finally able to eat after a month of a liquid diet due to surgery Naturally I choose Mexican food due lol. First off. This place is open 24/7 on the weekend. Secondly. The food is so colorful. I ordered a beef chimichanga and chicken enchilada. Both were very flavorful and filling FYI The chimichanga comes with the red sauce on it. The only reason why I got the enchilada was to try the sauce in the photo The meat is well seasoned and tender. The tortillas are yummy. I had both flour and corn. The beans are not bland. The rice was ok. I'm picky when it comes to my rice. My salad was flavorful. It had sour cream , Guac, and lettuce with onions and tomatoes. The chips were crisp and the salsa was fresh and flavorful. You can really taste the cilantro. All in all if I'm in the area I will definitely come back!

Josh B.

Yelp
My experience was not a great one. This place has gone downhill. They took forever to bring our food and once it arrived, it was disappointing. I ordered a seafood soup that tasted spoiled and reheated. My wife ordered a huarache that was stale and tacos that were extremely greasy. We will not be back.

Yelp
Big portions, delicious food, fun karaoke. Thank you! I wish you were closer to my house. But it was definitely worth the 35 minute drive

Yelp
Food wasn't good at all... shrimp overcooked, recited beans watered down and drink was sweet and weak in alcohol... never again.

Yelp
Not understanding how this place has great reviews. For a place that is really expensive it was bad. I wished I would have taken a picture. I got a chicken fajita lunch menu. It was JUST NASTY not fresh. The chicken was DRY,HARD, No FLAVOR. The rice was soggy and looked and tasted like it was rice that was probably cooked multiple times, or a couple of days old. Beans were okay. None of it had flavor though. I honestly regretted going. Chipotle would have tasted better. I never give a horrible review but it was so bad that we didn't eat all of our food we just munched on it because we were hungry. One of us didn't even touch it just left the whole plate "took to go". I'd never go again.
