This beer hall has a good selection of drinks at a good price point. Typical food menu for a drinking establishment, but they have 2 partner restaurants they have inside (Ranch and Tamale Boy) that give you an alternative to fried bar stuff. Friendly and fast service. Lots of seating available outside so you can enjoy the weather. Plenty of parking as well.

Love this place! So many options on tap. We tried ciders today and really liked Cider Boys. The service was superb. They helped us choose. Of course tasters were an option. The outside patio is dog friendly. We did not partake in food options this time, but definitely will be back and give those a try. Highly recommend you give it a try.

I've never been here before. What a fantastic place. Loved all the food and drink choices, even won some money on the slot machines. Great food, great drinks and even better service. Will definitely be back.

For my first time, I felt very lost. The businesses are spread around the building and I didn't know if I could find everything if I wanted to. I did not roam around, so this could be remedied with another visit. Luckily, they delivered food to my spot at the bar. Friendly service did not keep me waiting, even when it started getting busy. Massive tap list!😍 Drinks and food were reasonably priced. The buffalo wings were the right texture, served hot, and flavorful although I like them spicier. The cesar salad was awful. The dressing didn't taste right and I couldn't eat it with the texture if the greens, which was disappointing because it costs more than the wings. I was overall satisfied. Would go again.

First time here and loved it. Ate at Tamale Boys which is a separate review. Drinks were great, bartender was nice and mixed a fabulous drink. Atmosphere was fun and busy. Lots of outdoor dining inn the warmer months and indoor dining is great with a 21 and over space which is nice. So many beers, ciders and wines as well as the cocktails. Too many to list off so you may have to head down to take a look.

Google
Pretty good spot. Couple of small changes could bring them a lot more business. Bar food is terrible. I know they are backed by the Mexican and pizza spots, but leaning into their bar menu a little more would pay off. The side where minors are allowed is usually a ghost town. If they put in a small kids play area, like a 12x12 spot of turf with some little kids toys (like Deschutes, Hopworks and the new La Carretta food carts have), they’d get sooo much more business. I have a 14 month old and dozens of families at his school constantly talk about this concept. Bring a little indoor play area to Happy Valley.. you will profit 100 times over.

I can't give zero stars on food or I would. I met up with a gal pal for a late lunch. This was approximately 2:30 in the afternoon . When we ordered a beverage, we specifically inquired about food. We were told to use the QR code on our table. We were not told that there were specific hours for the kitchen and it was not posted anywhere. When we use the QR code we got a weird message that orders were not being taken online at this time. When we inquired about that, we were very much treated like we should have known that they didn't start serving food until after 3:00. Yes there are other food options there, but that's not what we were looking for. It's a cute enough space, but given the experience probably not some place I will return to.

Google
Everytime I come here (multiple times over the last year) it has been clean, an excellent beer and beverage selection and warm friendly faces. If you like a nice watering hole with food options on site, check this place out. A great place to visit and have a drink with friends.

Yelp
A great local spot with a good beer selection and drinks! The staff is great too. With the 2 restaurants/vendors inside and the bar menu there are plenty of tasty food options. There is Tamale Boy & Ranch Pizza on the main floor. Outdoor seating on nice days is another bonus. There is also a pinball bar in the basement that is lots of fun, with free play on all the machines for a 1 time cover charge of $10. Family friendly too!

Yelp
Portland cider company's cinnamon roll cider is delicious. Love this tap house because there are also two restaurants: tamale boy and ranch pizza are both located inside the tap house. Spacious and cozy, but I love going here on summer days because the patio is a quiet hideaway. However it's usually busy whenever I attend so it's definitely the hotspot in Happy Valley.

Yelp
An incident at happy valley public house a few months ago with my son and the owners daughter .The owner told me my son wrote a bad review on Google so my son can no longer come in to his Establishment all I can say is WOW. Which is fine and my family will no longer come in anymore also. There are better business that we can go to and cheaper instead of paying high prices at the public house. We as a family have supported your business for 3 years during rough times and this is how you react. Good luck. Really bad. Some education to the onwer on how reviews work "owner". People post reviews and as a Business owner you take those reviews and figure out how to better your establishment to make a better place for your customers not kick people out just on bad reviews. This is not how it works. There are many more places in happy valley to go you are not the only one. Please take these reviews seriously and improve your environment. That's the beauty of social networking. I would never recommend happy valley public house. There are better places to go.

Yelp
Public is frequented about once a week with the boys. Solid spot to watch a sports game, good selection of beers on tap and Ranch is a good choice for food. Our usual bartenders are great, my girlfriend always gets samples before deciding on her drink and they don't seem to mind. Plenty of seating, indoors and out, although it may be limited outside when the weather is nice.

Yelp
I love this place! Delicious cocktails, and excellent service. Special thanks to AJ and Sabina @ whiskey, barrel lounge, for always taking the best care of us!

Yelp
This place rocks!! From a huge selection of drinks to the great selection when it comes to food, I love coming here! Theres plenty of seating, outside, at the bar, and on the cute cozy couches in the corner. It's a cute spot, and they host some pretty fun events here. From charity nights to pints and pups (if they don't still do this, they NEED to bring it back. Puppies available for adoption while enjoying a drink? Are you kidding me?!!) this place has it all! The staff is always nice and friendly. For how busy it can get here, they're always on top of it! If you're in the area, definitely stop by for a drink, and order a slice of pizza while you're at it!

Yelp
Great spot. Lots of beer selections to choose from. Can be a bit busy so parking is a little troublesome on a Friday night

Yelp
We are fortunate to have this place as our local public house. With almost 70 beer/cider/wine/etc taps, a whiskey bar/steakhouse downstairs and Ranch and Tamale Boy upstairs, it's hard to justify going anywhere else. Service is great, plenty of TVs, patio heat and fire pits, clean taps, good list rotation, and sometimes you can find Alchemist cans and Russian River bottles for sale to go. If it was walking distance from our house it would be perfect :-) I don't do video lottery but they have that if that's your thing

Yelp
Lots of yummy beer choices, with lots of seating. If things are too crowded downstairs, there's more upstairs. Staff are friendly and are happy to let you taste before you buy.

Yelp
I hate to say it but this was the worst $16 I have spent on a burger. It was nothing like the picture on the menu. Very thin patty, gobs of mayo, barely any cheese and scant wilted lettuce. Utterly disappointing. Would much rather spend less and go to one of my favorite food trucks for 100% better quality, freshness and flavor, all for less $$. I wouldn't bother with this place if you are looking for fresh higher quality food.

Yelp
Our bartender Jodi was so awesome! Love the atmosphere and she makes fantastic Old Fashioned! Wings were good as well.

Steve D.

Yelp
Great beer selection and good service. Locally owned. Food is solid too. Check out the restaurant downstairs

Yelp
The staff is friendly sky and helpful, they have great notion sours on tap which I love! I have yet to try the food but would love to try their wings. Everyone seems super friendly here and it's always very clean!!

Yelp
I've been a fan of this place since they opened. Now they have a new pub menu the makes this the best place for a burger and beer in the Portland Metro area!! I wish I would Have taken a pic and I will next time!! Well worth the trip!!

Yelp
Very impressive drink menu. If you are not into drinking alcohol I would not recommend. Non-alcoholic drinks are served in cans and are very limited. They gave us paper straws...yuk! The side of the place that is not "21 and over" is like sitting in a cafeteria (noisy and lots of echos). You have to walk up to one of two counters to order food. One counter is for pizza and the other is for a gourmet Mexican food. The menu for Tamale Boy is hard to comprehend. They use ingredients that you don't normally see. We ordered pizza. It was $22 for a square pizza. The pizza had the thickest pizza I've seen. You can order a 1/4 pizza for $7. I also order a Caesar salad. The salad only had radicchio (no other lettuce) which is strange for a Caesar. Our food was brought to us in to-go containers. There is a sign on the table that says you have to bus your own table. When you pay for your food at the counter the visa machine defaults to a 15% tip that you have to override. Seriously??? They want a 15% tip when you have to stand at a counter to order and then have to bus your own table? The "21 and over" bar was busy. If you're not going to sit in the bar for an alcoholic drink I would not recommend.

Yelp
Great outdoor area. Love that they allow dogs. They have really good selection of beers and kombucha and other items.

Yelp
Love this place. It's our go to spot for drinks and quick food. Beer selection is robust, classic cocktails and great service. Owners are awesome and the staff is super friendly. Access to Ranch, Tamale Boy and the Whiskey Lounge menus. Love it here.

Yelp
New review: Don't waste your time or your money. I voiced my displeasure about the lack of customer appreciation and was told to leave and "not come back." I was polite and tried to voice my opinion about past problems.

Yelp
Great neighborhood spot for casual drinks & food. They also have an upscale dining experience downstairs for those looking for such. VPH has a great selection of cider on tap and the fire pits on the back patio make for a cozy evening.

Nicole G.

Yelp
Wonderful place and dog friendly! Local neighborhood pub. Great drinks, the food it ok, could be better.

Yelp
Cochinita pibil tamale from Tamale Boy was pretty good. Huckleberry kombucha was refreshing and tasty. I had a good time sitting outside with my friend for our lunch today. I will be back again!
google avatar

Liberty P.

Yelp
Favorite new hang out spot. The staff is friendly, the drinks are cold, and the pizza is MY FAVORITE in driving distance. It can get busy and loud but that has never bothered me.
google avatar

Olivia V.

Yelp
Very unimpressed. The bar side is where you have to order your beer, and there are no minors allowed. If you were to stop in here with your child, you would have to leave them alone on the side they're allowed to be on to get your drink. It would be much more modern and functional if they put QR codes at the tables so you can order your beer from anywhere and get it taken to your table. Or just make the whole thing minor friendly. Since there is food there I don't think it's a legal issue I think it's a choice. Very dark inside very bland looking, very freezing and tamale boy was super cold. Good beer but nothing else good.

Yelp
This is a great spot to come and grab some food and drink! The patio space in the back is spacious and actually pretty warm for being outside! There is also a ton of seating out front with heat lamps that provide a bit more comfort in this cold weather. I do wish that there were more food options available, but I'm sure there are more to come. The patios are also dog-friendly! There were so many dogs, and so many friendly people that wanted to say hi to ours. It's a really great atmosphere!
google avatar

Meagan N.

Yelp
Cool spot! So many beers on tap! I also appreciate that they have ciders on tap as well! The tables were pretty socially distanced and the staff was really friendly. Great spot to grab a drink and a bite to eat!
google avatar

Terri J.

Yelp
Awesome outdoor seating area! Huge beer selection and now, food too! Love the public house atmosphere... a friendly place you want to hang out in!

Steven M.

Yelp
We have been to VPH 2 times. The first time, we said we would not be back. Well, we tried it again. Confirmed our original opinion. It's cold, loud and seating is very uncomfortable. Maybe cafeteria style eating and drinking is not our cup of tea. Pizza too thick and bready. Cold entree from Tamale. Was hoping for a better venue. Maybe it will improve over time;)

Yelp
I had met my friends for a drink...out side!!! I was super late....Being last to join I only had two bees, and when I went to order a round the server told me I NEEDED a water. Hmm thank you but that is not why I'm here.I was rudely refused service and so were my other girl friends.

Gregory E.

Yelp
Best tap list in Oregon. Period. Please please whatever you do don't go here and order a Coors Light!
google avatar

Thuan H.

Yelp
Cool little pub with restaurants inside. They definitely do social distancing in the bar. To order you have to go to the bar and order. The food you can order and they'll actually bring to your table regardless of which side you're sitting on. Many beers/ciders on tap.
google avatar

Steve R.

Yelp
Awesome place! I love the ambience, the huge choice of beers, wines, and ciders, as well as the food. The staff is attentive and the guests seem like a great bunch of people, half of whom all seem to know each in some way. It's a very warm, friendly vibe. Can't wait to experience the Whiskey Bar Lounge when it opens downstairs. I'm looking forward to spending more time there.
google avatar

Sheryl E.

Yelp
Love the outdoor heated dining. Great food and cocktails. Dog friendly is great too. It's nice during this covid. You will enjoy. Dress warm but it's still very cozy.

Yelp
Stop by and was greeted and put on a waiting list. The people there was awesome and the foods n drink was great. Will come back when this snow storm go away. Only bad thing was that they closed around 8 or 9pm.

Laura M.

Yelp
We have given this place a few tries and both times the hostess was so rude and off putting. The interior is dirty and dingy And the lighting is horrible. Pizza was not very good.

Tanya M.

Yelp
Rude servers on a power trip. Don't think I will be returning..better places in Portland to have a beer at with nicer servers.

Scott S.

Yelp
Brian and Amy are the best. Awesome selection of beers on draft. Ranch Pizza and Tamale Boy on-site for food. Cannot wait until all this COVID stuff is over so we can truly experience this slice of heaven in Happy Valley. This place is a must.

Jordan G.

Yelp
Best Taphouse in Oregon. 80+ taps, mixed drinks on tap, pizza restaurant, and taco restaurant, whiskey bar with fine dining downstairs. Nice outdoor seating with fire pits and heaters so in the winter it's not too cold. Upstairs seating, big TV's everywhere. 10/10 parking. AMAZING SERVICE. Good owners, good people, good beer. Nice they carry some good sour beers always too. Only thing I wish is that they would carry more than 2 sour beers. Great selection still. My favorite place to get a drink.

Cyndi B.

Yelp
We very much enjoyed our visit! We had our pup with us who had her own personal water bowl built in next to our table. The pizza was insane! The spirits were great and the staff friendly. Highly recommend and can't wait until the rest of the restaurant is up and running. Great to have a new option in the area. Large patios for distance open air dining...

Rick B.

Yelp
Due to Covid-19 I've only purchased to-go beer! I'm happy to say that while their beer menu is still heavy with IPA they now have more offerings for the non IPA beer drinker! Looking forward to the end of the Covid-19 pandemic to enjoy beer and a meal or two on premise!! Wishing Brian and Ami great success....Happy Valley really needed this place!
