Mega-Popular East Bay Bagel-Maker Boichik Is Opening a Shop in Santa Clara | Eater SF

"After more than 1,100 people signed a petition in its support, Valley Tavern announced it will keep its parklet — an application the city initially denied because of a yellow loading zone outside the bar and restaurant." - Lauren Saria

Food was warm, not hot all. 8 of us dining and we were not served at the same time. We were served drinks in plastic cups and had to ask several times for our refills. On a good note those that had chili said it was good.

We ate at here the first night of our stay at the resort. It's over in the Stardust tower with a laid back atmosphere. Honestly i think it's meant for post events parties. From the hostess, to the seater, to the waitress our dinner was ok. We quickly asked the seater what was good and what was not so good and he graciously abliged. We went for the dual appetizers type dinner. We opted for wings, spinach artichoke dip, horseradish mashed potatoes and chicken quesadillas. They were all awesome. Now for the meh part my friend ordered a Long Island Iced Tea but she wanted pineapple juice instead of coke... well she wasn't happy and then she ordered a margarita... no bueno. I had a Blue Moon from tap so I was happy. Overall it was a good dinner and now I'm gonna definitely have to fund horseradish mashed potatoes at other places I dine

Google
Pretty nice spot, decent music & prices. I ordered a Herb Chicken breast dinner. Everything was great except the Broccoli rabe, which was insanely bitter. Service was excellent. Second visit: Tried the Country friend Chicken. Food was excellent, but a little heavy. I suppose that's to be expected with this dish though. It could be better with a vinigare based dipping dressing, but I'm basically nit picking at this point. It was great.

Google
Me and my boyfriend came here on a Saturday night. Our first sign that this place was awful should’ve been that there was literally nobody else there. The service sucked. We waited for our food for 45 minutes by the time it came I noticed that my chicken tenders were burnt and very dried out and were not even hot and his burger looked like something you’d get from Burger King. We had to ask for our check because even after getting our food our server didn’t come back to check on us to see if we needed anything or ask how the food was. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Google
Sports bar and bar food. When you want no crowds this is the place to go. Good selection of beers as well as a full bar.

Google
We were there about 2 weeks ago, and the place had Halloween decor. The eatery had reopened, but the food was not good except for a burger I ate. "Voodoo" sauce was gross. Overall, we had hoped for a better experience. The Casino needs to improve their restaurants. The Chop House is very good.

Google
Came here on on a Thursday and my day was going horrible until I had dinner here. The food was okay the wings were good but the chicken in the salad was questionable. The highlight of my dinner was my server Tyanna and the manager my server was full of smiles and had the best attitude I’ve seen at a restaurant so far and the manager was nice enough to accommodate my meal because of my salad. I will be coming back to this place and sending my friends here for the excellent service thank you guys.

Tikeesha C.

Google
The food and the service was horrible. The restaurant was empty on a Saturday night so I guess that should have been the first clue. We waited forever for the server and when he did come his attitude sucked. I ordered the salmon with mashed potatoes and the were cold and old. When I said something he said yeah I could get you some fresh ones. I looked at him and said so they gave me old potatoes on purpose and he just looked at me. He ended up bringing me some kinda of noodles that was not much better. No one in my group enjoyed their food at all. I will never go back or recommend if for a quick meal. I suggest you grab something from the casino food court.

Yelp
Really good food! We came for a family dinner and enjoyed the service, food and the drinks. Will certainly be back to try a few other dishes I didn't get a chance to try.

Yelp
Came for restaurant week. Ended up ordering off the regular menu rather than RW menu cuz it was cheaper and more options. Started with drinks, the beers on tap were impressive. Good mix of local and national beers. Also got "grandmas iced tea" cocktail that was sweet and strong. Had the poutine as an appetizer. It's not poutine, it's cheese fries. There's no gravy. The cheese wiz on there is salty, but the short rib topping saved it. Entree was chicken alfredo. Absolutely delicious, lots of chicken and really garlicky cream sauce. Definitely worth checking out if you're at the casino or hotel!

Yelp
Very very noisy with Karaoke on Friday night. Food about average for a bar restaurant. Server tried his best was the whole operation was understaffed. Drink order took 1.2 hours to get. Other food was prompt enough.
google avatar

Matthew B.

Yelp
Surprisingly good across the board. Well made drinks and the food was all above average. Service a little slow but not annoyingly so. I have to admit we all were impressed with both quality and portions.

Yelp
Valley Tavern is the pub inside the Radisson Valley Forge Hotel & Casino. Coming back to the hotel tired and hungry from a day of watching our kids in a lacrosse tournament, we wanted to eat on the premises and Valley Tavern was the cheapest option. The place is dark with a huge bar area. There are a few tables on the left just for dining. Valley Tavern is listed as a "gastropub" on Yelp, but the menu mostly lists typical bar food. Service was friendly and the food came out promptly. We started with some wings to share and they were very good. The wings were very plump with a perfect mildly spicy sauce. I ordered a cheeseburger medium rare with a fried egg. I'm glad I ordered it medium rare because it came about medium. I find if I order burgers medium they usually are prepared too well done. The burger was good, not spectacular, but good. The fried egg on top was perfectly cooked. I ate a few of the fries that came with the burger. They were tasty but on the saltier side. I also ordered a side salad which I enjoyed. All of the veggies were fresh and the champagne vinaigrette dressing on the side had a pleasing flavor. Husband ordered the ribs and 12 year old ordered the pulled pork sandwich. I did not try either but was told they were "okay". What we all really enjoyed though, was dessert. We ordered Southern Banana Bread Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream (instead of Praline) with Whiskey Caramel Sauce. Four of us shared two and it was absolutely scrumptious! Definitely worth the calories! Valley Tavern may be a place just to go and get great dessert or to eat if you want to stay in at the hotel. Otherwise, I would not go out of your way to dine here.

Yelp
The food was fair if you are just looking for something to eat. Nothing special and the burger did not arrive as ordered. We order medium cooked burgers and received it well done with cold fries!

Yelp
The hostess who sat us and our waiter, Christian, should not be in the hospitality business because they were not very hospitable! Atmosphere was OK, food was OK, prices were OK. Food could have been significantly better if those in the kitchen knew more what they were doing, no love in the food.
google avatar

Tracey L.

Yelp
Started with a simple cranberry vodka and the ratio of alcohol to cranberry was perfect. The atmosphere is a little on the dark side but nice. Dark wood chairs at the bar with comfortable padding and plenty of seating around the bar. Grilled cheese with crab....amazing!!! Two different types of cheese and the crab is fresh and plentiful. The chips are a house chip and seasoned well. Definitely a switch from plain grilled cheese.

Yelp
My husband and I came here before heading to the casino and we were delightfully surprised! The French onion soup was incredible!!! I got a cheesesteak and sweet potato fries and my husband got the Korean BBQ Wrap with onion rings. The food was really, really good and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back again!

Yelp
Came Saturday night for a party. The bar was dead but very nice. We ordered salmon dinner and it was delicious. The fish was cooked and seasoned to perfection. We also ordered a chicken wrap. That too was cooked very well and overall we were happy with the meal. The prices were surprisingly fair considering we were at a casino resort. Solid 4 stars

Naoko O.

Yelp
The bartender ,Ms. Sara ,was amazing. She pays attention to everybody and working like a superwoman . Food was also great.

Yelp
Only for bar: stopped in to try and grab some drinks before a show. This place was somewhat crowded & there were 2 bartenders who seemed overwhelmed and unhappy. Took over 15 minutes to get a drink.. we ended up adding drinks onto someone else's order. In my opinion this place was in need of that bar rescue guy.
google avatar

Melissa N.

Yelp
Great place to have a drink or two and have great pub grub. People of Valley Forge PA count yourself lucky to have a great place to have a drink or two.

Lisa N.

Yelp
I thought the food was good and the service was very good. We had wings and cheese-steak egg rolls. Both delicious. My husband had the Chicken Parm. and I has the blackened salmon. We both enjoyed our entree's. I would go back here to grab a quick beer/ food BUT I would not go to the casino. Was not a fan of the casino but this restaurant was good.

Yelp
Lets just say IF YOUR A REGULAR HERE you get excellent service.. I ordered my girl and i some food and about ten minutes later here comes a regular sit and order the same exact thing.. WELL GUESS WHAT. HIS food came out first with my friends.. I had to wait an extra 10 min. For mine.. Totally blew my mind how rude that was.. HOWEVER THE FOOD IS 4 STARS FOR ME. JUST WISH they wouldnt play favortism HERE...

Yelp
5 dollar Yuengling's!!!!! This place is trippin. I only came here to get my gaming card to go in the casino. Anyplace that sells Thee local Macro at such exorbitant prices gets no love from me. Everything in this place was overpriced, like the rest of the eateries in this resort. By the way if you come in from the casino I swear its like a 5 minute walk down the longest winding hallway I have ever been in. Bartenders are sweethearts though and one of the ladies gave me really good advice, she said "Play with your head, not above it." I dig it, thanks for the advice miss.

Yelp
I went here while I was staying at the attached hotel. The place looks like your typical Irish pub and has at least 8 large televisions at the very large bar. The setup looked really promising to me, and I thought I would be able to get a decent bite to eat. Sadly, I was wrong. It was late and I had to be up early so I did not order alcohol, but they had a mediocre beer selection with the usuals plus a couple of local pints. They had an OK liquor selection as well. The menu was slightly nicer than your average bar food. I order Boddington mussels and fish and chips. The mussels had an average flavor, but the temperature of the mussels and the broth, and the mushy texture made me suspect that these had been either reheated or sat around in a warming pan until they served them. The toast that came with the mussels tasted smoked like it had been toasted in an oven with something burning on the bottom. The fish and chips came served in a cone with faux newspaper lining. The fries were cold and tasted like they had been fried a while ago. The fish was hot, beer battered, and crispy, but sadly they lacked any flavor whatsoever. I don't think that there was any salt, either in the batter or on the fish. The tarter sauce was the only thing that allowed me to eat half of it. Lastly, the service here was awful. They were quiet since it was late at night on a Monday and there were at least 2 bartenders (I was sitting at the bar), but the ESPYs were on, and it seemed like the only thing they wanted to do was watch that. I ordered a water and it came in a miniature glass. I only got one refill, and it was when I flagged down a bartender and specifically asked for a refill. Every other time they passed me they looked down at my glass but never asked if I wanted a refill. When I asked for a bowl to put my discarded mussel shells in, they acted like I had made a major request. The only redeeming quality of this visit was the fact that I was in town on business, which meant I didn't have to pay for it.

Yelp
This is one of the newly established restaurants connected to the Valley Forge Casino Resort, this specifically located right off the lobby of the Radisson Hotel. The resort's take on gastropub, you can get different types of draft beers including Guinness here along with burgers, fries, pot pies, etc. Very dark woods, booths and a large bar fill the room. Since the prices of the food here is on par with the food prices for the other eateries right off the casino floor, this is a nicer atmosphere to get food unless you want to hear the hum and noise of the casino the whole time. (Which isn't a bad thing, it just depends on what you want). From 4:30 to 7 they have a happy hour that includes $3 drafts, $4 house wines, well drinks and on (at least Wednesdays) whiskey you call its. I really wanted to experience the burger, so I went with the Tavern Burger which came with both blue and cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion and sides of ketchup, mayo and mustard. At my server's recommendation, I also got barbecue sauce. Sandwiches also come with a side of your selection of fries, sweet potato fries or onion rings. I was really please with my food. Filling and delicious. I would definitely recommend this place as an alternative to some of the eateries immediately connected to the mall. Plus when you spend over $10 you can get the casino access card!!! The also offer live music; when I first sat down, there was a piano player. I also want to give a shoutout to my server Jaime, who as my friend said while we were eating "she seems genuinely happy to be here and likes her job, which is hard to find in the food industry."

Yelp
Fish tacos were some of the best I have ever had!!! Flaky fish crunchy slaw delicious sauce. Two huge tacos for $9...awesome bargain!

Yelp
The worst. Hostess and management were totally negligent. Hostess walking around oblivious, manager nowhere to be found. Our party of 4 waited close to an hour for a "20 min wait" while literally 3, 4-tops sat empty. That does not count the other two reserved 4 tops and 4 more tables that were not bussed. Party of 2 walked in while the hostess was MIA and seated themselves at one of the empty 4 tops. This place, on a Friday night, should be more prepared. Who ever owns this place should be as outraged as my family. Don't waste your money here, they simply don't deserve the business. PS: food is mediocre at best. What a regretful experience.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
The reviews on this place weren't the best, but I'm so glad I didn't listen. Everything was great from service to the food. Our server Brian was great! He was super friendly, nice, and on top of everything. What I really liked was when I ask him a question about the food he was super honest with me. A very valuable employee!! As for the food, I started with the chili. Hands down the best chili I ever had!! It was so good. The only thing, it could of been a tad warmer, but other then that delicious!!! For my entree I got the blackened chicken alfredo dish! Again delicious and came out nice and hot!! My mom got the country fried chicken dish and had no complaints. It's also a very good choice!!! Overall a very good place to go and enjoy yourself and have good food. I just wish I lived closer because I would definitely go back! Would just go back for the chili!!! Kudos to the person who makes the chili!! Delicious!!

Yelp
I took my wife, our son and his wife and three other people to Valley Tavern to celebrate my grandson's birthday. The location is fine and the ambiance is what you would expect. However, the food was simply bad. I took my first bite of mashed potatos and they were cold, and it was all downhill from there. I am giving a two rating because the service was good. I am not going to go into specify details, however,if you want decent food, go somewhere else.

Yelp
Great place after partying at the casino. It was loud do to karaoke night but a lot of fun. Food was good nothing fancy but definitely good. Have some drinks n quick dinner with reasonable prices, this will do it.

Yelp
Food was great!! Staff was wonderful. We had the nachos and pretzels both looked a bit rough but were delish! The pulled pork, burger,

Yelp
I attended a beer pairing dinner here, but I will say the service was top notch. The food, exquisite. I like the trendy vibe they're giving off here. I'm not sure how the regular menu items fair, but everything I had at the pairing was top notch. I'd give this place another shot for sure!
google avatar

Yelp
Food: 2.5 Decor: 2.5 Ambiance: 2.5 Service: 2.5 Value: 3 Having expectations for a secondary place in a secondary casino like this would be a mistake. Everything was okay. Edible, okay atmosphere, okay prices. Okay.

Yelp
Came on a Sunday night and the place was dead. The server was friendly and offered a few apps. The French onion soup was really one of the best I have had anywhere. I highly recommend it. The wings were overlooked and the sauce was nothing special. I'd pass on them. I ordered the triple decker club and my buddy ordered the burger. The club was excellent. Plenty of meat and great flavor. The burger came out way overlooked and the wrong side. It was sent back and came out Cooked correctly. Overall a decent burger. As others have mentioned the food was pricey but to be expected at a casino restaurant. Average place with a few a over average dishes. Worth a shot if in the casino.

Yelp
For the bar: honestly just go somewhere else. Although the bartender was very nice, I requested CNN on one of the 12 tvs surrounding the bar as I was there on a 1 hour break from a seminar. He told be he "had to take care of the bar first" but I was sitting AT THE BAR. Ok buddy I get it, but he never checked in at all and never changed the station. He had also mentioned that the system was too complicated. I ordered at 12:06 and food did not come out until 12:40 and that was after 2 prompts. It had definitely been sitting in the window for too long, absolutely a dead plate. Fries were soggy with oil, but get that was ordered as medium rare was well, and nothing really had a flavor to it. Very disappointed overall.

Aron S.

Yelp
The food is amazingly delicious. Their burgers are awesome. The Mac and cheese and onion rings are great. Very spacious and comfortable atmosphere/seating. Desserts are fantastic, specifically the chocolate fudge cake OMG and the peanut butter mud pie. Both are like chocolate and choco/peanut butter HEAVEN !!
google avatar

Yelp
Was there last night... I really enjoyed my meal. The fried pickels were awesome so was the Bavarian pretzels. I enjoyed the place I would go back

Yelp
Great food and service! Treat everyone like a regular! Highly recommended for foodies and traditional alike

Yelp
As much as I loved the food, the service can make or break your restaurant. I have no qualms about the food, I had the western burger, and it was cooked exactly how I wanted and very flavorful with plenty of fries. My fiance had the buffalo chicken sandwich, and it was very good. The beers are all reasonably priced and they even have $2.50 beer specials during Phillies games. The horrible service is where stars get taken away. We got in there and it took a while for someone to even notice us standing in the doorway, and when someone finally did, they looked and walked away, leaving us to wait longer not knowing if anyone was coming over. When we get seated, it took awhile for someone to come and get our drink orders. After we put in our food orders, it took over a half an hour for the food, and someone behind us complained to his waitress that he had been waiting for almost 45 minutes for a bowl of french onion soup. The fact of the matter was that it wasn't even busy, very few people at the bar and maybe 1/3 of the house full. No reason for those kinds of waits. The only other thing was that one of their managers, a rather busty female, was walking around in short shorts and a tank top one sneeze away from letting it all hang out. Even for a tavern like that, it was really inappropriate. I thought some of the people (who were there for the BAPTIST CHURCH CONVENTION) were going to have heart attacks! Establishments need to be able to cater to more than one demographic, not just horny men who lost all of their money at the casino downstairs.
google avatar

Yelp
My friends and I all got the truffle Mac and cheese it was very good except some asked for no bacon and yet they still had bacon on it. I wouldn't recommend the nachos or the sweet fries neither were that great...good place for drinks and to watch sports on tv.
google avatar

Kristin N.

Yelp
Was between session of a conference and needed something to eat. Wasn't very full had basic pub fare. I waited over 45 minutes for a panini while a table of 4 who were seated 15 minutes after received drinks and food before me. My panini was cold and was supposed to be on a ciabatta roll what I got was a pressed hoagie roll which was so tough it wasn't worth eating. Overall very disappointed.

Kimberly A.

Yelp
If I could give 0 stars I would. We have been long term patrons. Over the last few years, we have recieved several wrong orders which were resolved in a reasonable way. Last few times though have been a complete waste of time and money! Last time, we picked up our order, they gave us the wrong kind of wings and didn't include several items we had ordered and paid for. We live close, so we called them to have it fixed. Ran down and grabbed it, not checking it since we assumed a few items could be corrected without error. Wrong! After discovering we were still missing an item, we called again and went time #3. Came home, sat down to open my corrected wings...and they were still the wrong ones!!! Fast forward to today. We ordered an easy and relatively small order, including the bourbon boneless wings I still hadn't recieved. Here I sit with hot wings...AGAIN!! I am pissed off and fucking hungry. We live literally an 1/8 mile away, but will not be ordering from them again. And the fries suck! Go to the Sherwood. Or McDonald's. Anything else. But if you still patronize this place, check every single item in every single box to save yourself massive frustration!

John P.

Yelp
Great beers and good bar food. Perhaps some of the earlier reviews were from new hires? We always had great service. The only negative was the pricing of beers which is why I gave it 4 stars.
google avatar

Gus L.

Yelp
Valley Tavern was my bastion of beer and food while on a recent business trip at the attached hotel. If you are looking for the Tavern you actually need to park at and enter the Radisson here. It is, however, worth the effort. The general Pub type décor was fine... nothing seemed dirty or out of place. I sat at the bar twice, and in the "dining area" once. I gotta say the service at the bar was a bit better. I was however pleasantly surprised at the tap and bottle selection. Coming from San Diego, I am normally a little spoiled when it comes to craft and rare beers on tap and available in bottles. Valley Tavern gave me something new and interesting each night... and they even had a few Southern California craft beers on the list which was great! The food was also a great compliment in the selection and quality. I had everything from the Pub Burger, to the Fish NChips to a steak, and all met or exceeded my expectations. The standout was the Pub burger....where even after sitting in the TOGo container while I had a few more beers than I intended... it was tasty and juicy when I got back to my room.

Yelp
The steamers were a great starter. The lobster Mac n cheese has no visible lobster so a disappointment.. pleasant atmosphere

Karen S.

Yelp
First the service was great, attentive and super friendly but not overbearing. Had us in and out for the 8 pm show. Food - the shaved prime rib sandwich was really good. never a fan of prime rib because of the fat but i was assured by my waitress that this sandwich was fat free. it was and toasted perfectly with the right amount of horseradish and cheese. Fish tacos (i had the grilled), okay, but not a real fish taco, no heat and made with lettuce instead of cabbage. Might want to explore other versions of fish taco and go with that. bland for my taste. Anyone ordering this item will have other expectations than what i got. overall great experience, would like to try other items on the menu. great beer selection.

Chris T.

Yelp
The place was dead when I was there (Sunday evening) so I found that kind of surprising. Took a seat at the bar and had a Yuengling and that was fine. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and it came with a side of fries. It was pretty good and cooked correctly. It is a bit pricy for what you get (like $15 for a cheeseburger?) but it is good. A lot of TVs are there so it is a nice place to watch a game.

Dan T.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars I would. Wanting a mid-price point option within the Valley Forge Casino complex (Pacific Prime is WAY over priced) 4 of us went for dinner at the Tavern on a Wednesday evening at 7:30. There weren't that many people so one would expect the service to be fairly quick. We were very wrong. The service was abysmal - had to ask 3 times just for a glass of water, and later had to go to the bar myself to pick up our drinks. Trying to get the server's attention was impossible. The food was no better. The chicken pollard was tough and over seasoned. The fish and chips were soggy and cold. The shepherd's pie was extremely salty. Expectations for any hotel restaurant - at least for me - are lower than a free-standing one. And yet even with lower expectations, the Valley Tavern failed to even come close to being worthwhile. Bottom line, avoid.

Yelp
Came here before we hit the casino. We order appetizer of potato skins which was good. Then I had pastrami n Swiss sandwich witch was great and had to take home due to huge portion. My guest had the tavern burger witch she enjoyed. Service was good. No complaints about food n service. Just don't go threw casino to restaurant it's felt lithe a mile walk

Amy W.

Yelp
After walking out of a horrible dining experience elsewhere, we stopped at our hotel bar Valley Tavern! What a wonderful difference! Dave the bartender was prompt and very accommodating! And the food was delicious! Now of course not the best cheesesteaks, but not the worst either and very surprising! The onion rings were out of this world!

Kev L.

Yelp
Have had the fish and chips, house salad, prime rib, and the cheese cake. All have been good so far. Mix it in with the casino and it is a place to go.

J R.

Yelp
Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. my apology to Valley Tavern. My review was meant for Tavern at Valley Forge, a newly reopened restaurant. Please don't review this business if you received a freebie for writing this review, or if you're connected in any way to the owner or employees.

Yelp
Showed up and asked to be seated at the bar for breakfast. Hostess just told me to take a seat. Waited 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged me. Had to ask for a menu from another patron at the bar. 2 more people actually get seated, as in the hostess walked them over to the bar. Those two people get waiters, menus, and drinks before I even get any assistance. In fact one guy is actually eating. It's now been 20 minutes. Good news I got some water and a bill for a meal that hasn't even been delivered. They have to make sure that gets to me on time...

Karen M.

Yelp
We went early on a crowded Sat. The food was great but the service was absolutely horrible. Only was able to get 1 drink which took 20 minutes after we placed the order and I had to flag down the waitress to get it. Almost walked out. Food came out, she never checked on us for refills or to see how everything was. We asked for the check immediately. Made us very stressed out and ticked off.

Elaine C.

Yelp
The food was underwhelming as was the wait staff. There are plenty of other options in the area. I would check them out instead.

Amanda S.

Yelp
We stopped on here for some beers after checking into the hotel. Big mistake :(. Beers were ok, but the beer list hadn't been updated so they were out of quite a few options. Then we asked 2 separate employees about happy hour and neither knew much of anything. Everyone is pretty much clueless here!
