Casinos Return As County Moves to Accelerate Reopening Process | Eater San Diego

"I noted that Valley View Casino & Hotel was scheduled to come back online this Friday, May 22, and has implemented new safety procedures, though some amenities like restaurants may still be waiting to reopen." - Candice Woo

My favorite casino in the San Diego area. I love the food here and they have great comps! You get a packet of coupons and a free gift the first time you come. I like playing the slots! Plus I find the people who work there pretty friendly and that's what's most important to me ❤️ they seem to like their job. Most of them have been working there for years. There are some gaming tables but mostly it's slots and there is one big room that has no smoking. They have a parking structure so there's always plenty of parking. I enjoy the drive out there too.

I'm only giving 3 stars because the food is still good. I used to love coming here with my family, especially eating at their lobster buffet, but not anymore. They honestly shouldn't be allowed to call that restaurant a "buffet" because it is NOT a buffet and hasn't been since 2020. First, they charge a $7 per person "tip", so there are a LOT of those waiters that don't make ANY effort at all. Then, they take forever to take your order, bring it, and come back around to take another order. It's infuriating that it takes 2+ hours to eat 2 or 3 plates. Last time, after one plate of food, the waitress asked if we were ready for dessert. I felt rushed. We literally had one plate with one tiny lobster tail and some sides like the asparagus and mashed potatoes and this lady was asking about dessert. I truly miss when they would let us get our own food because what they're doing now is so wasteful too. BRING THE BUFFET BACK!

Excellent food selections. We went for St Patty's Day and had the corned Beef. I was quite surprised that there was not any give away item or raffle on st pattys day. The salmon was amazing and so was the prime rib steak. Ranch dressing was very creamy, too. Prices were decent.

Always a fun little big casino. Free soft drinks. Can be very smoky throughout the gaming floor. The non-smoking gaming area is small and limited in machines but the table games are all in the non-smoking area.

Here with sort of an update review on San Diego’s counties oldest, loosest and best casino. Been a loyal club card member for almost 20 years there has seen lots of changes, upgrades, new faces and original team members, have had good and bad times even discouraged to try other casinos over the years but overall always return back to Valley View it’s still a great place to go. First I’d like start with the many places to eat several new restaurants, their world famous all you eat lobster buffet has gotten many improvements to mention the new system as far as wait times to get in the buffet, the service is fantastic and as always the food is great and delicious! I just have to mention several servers Lucy, Linda , JJ , Sal J , Millet, Sally, Cynthia , Cristian, Dan, Aiden, Kathlene and Marlyn at Snax & Stix snack and noodle bar are fantastic, very efficient they all really take very good care you to make sure your dinning is enjoyable and memorable. I would also like to recognize Marisa one of the guest floor beverage servers for being so polite, friendly and attentive. Patties and Pints is another fantastic restaurant, new outstanding menu, service and hospitality you have to experience. The hotel has always been a favorite..always seen like home so comfy, clean and secure it’s a 5-star stay…Oh and the complimentary breakfast at The Cafe is so delicious, service is excellent as well. If you like some refreshments they have five bars now, with some great floor beverage servers, very efficient, polite and friendly..one floor beverage server Marissa is all that was mentioned above…shes wonderful. The main stage bar is where all the weekly and monthly drawings are held. Black and Blue steakhouse rated number one steakhouse in San Diego county service is excellent and the menu mouth watering. Valley View does have a very large non-smoking section for the non smokers. As far as your favorite playing experiences over 2000 slots, table games and there are lots winners which at the beginning of my review as being the loosest casino in San Diego county with great rewards. New members get 200.00 in casino perks, includes two free maine lobster buffets, slot free play , Bluetooth speaker, and coupons for the various restaurants throughout the casino. The atmosphere is nice, team members show appreciation for being there and give you good service…So if you are looking for a great time, great food, music, winnings playing your favorite games and a comfortable stay. Well another great night at the loosest casino in San Diego county March 21 2025 always friendly and polite staff they go out their way to your feel welcomed. Also not to mention another winning night. My ultimate suggestion would be Valley View Casino & Resort I would highly recommend Enjoy!!

Valley View is my home away from home! I love this casino it’s by far my favorite amongst the others in the area, Pala, Harrah’s, Paulma etc. They do a ton of portions days with prizes and free stuff, it’s easy to climb the ranks in the players club and once you do you will have a ton of food credits and free play, free items, gift cards you name it. Valley View is my go to when I’m out and about. If I’m out you will find me there more than likely!!

Yelp
I'm going to review the Buffet at Valley View Casino & Hotel. I haven't stayed at this hotel but the overall entrance from the parking lot to the entrance welcomes you to bright lighting, modern styling and a large window view to valet. If you need to try seafood for the first time, they have everything seafood. Snow crab and salmon were my pick. The shrimp was very well buttered. I felt it was an interesting buffet so I would check it out first before you try. I like the serving technique and the wait for the food to come to you method of culinary. Like I've said in the past this one that will satisfy your cravings for seafood, for seafood lovers. Overall I like this buffet because it has a different approach. Ask someone for more extras and they bring it to you. Freshly made to order, culinary experience and a different approach to buffets.

Yelp
I've been coming here for a year now and got to the silver tier membership. I'm going to review just the casino itself since the restaurants have their own yelp pages. To start, the other reviewers are right, the slots are very tight and it's more punishing than rewarding to play. It's usually $100 for 100 spins if you play the lowest denomination and you would think that most machines would give you a feature or any incentive to keep playing but nope. Hundreds down the drain for nothing. My end of year account report is probably way in the negatives. My family has a running joke when we pick up the monthly gifts - for example if we get a salad bowl set we say "wow very nice $500 'free' salad bowls!". More often than not I'll sit at a slot and hit zero features after 100 spins. I don't understand how some people sit for hours on one machine unless they're wasting thousands in one sitting then that would make sense. Even when I do hit features they only pay out $5-20. So I really don't get it. I usually play the craps machines but ever since they replaced them with newer versions I've had zero luck. I walked in just today and walked out after 5 minutes because that's how fast the machine ate my $100. I rolled a point and immediate 7 ten times in a row. Do you know how statistically improbable that is? It's a 1 in 16million chance to roll a 7 after the point TEN TIMES IN A ROW. That's completely rigged and unfair. Like I said before, absolutely zero, nothing at all enticing me to continue playing when I lose after 5 minutes of play. The main area also gets incredibly hot with all the smoke and lighters, they definitely could set the ac lower. Sometimes I'm sweating while just sitting at a slot and have to move to the non smoking section just to get some air. Overall it's an okay casino, but you definitely feel like they only take and give nothing. I've only ever seen one person actually get a $10k jackpot. And on every Friday drawing for the past year I've never been called despite having thousands of entries every time. There's one guy that gets called every hour every time (maybe he's a millionaire with 100,000 entries every Friday) but to be called every single time puts a sour feeling in a lot of peoples minds, thinking it's very rigged. Final note, the main manager at the players club is kinda rude. I asked a simple question and she was very dismissive and "by the books" no leeway or exceptions whatsoever. Whereas the other employees are very accommodating and nice. One even let me get my gift on a different day because I would be out of town on the actual date. I still come back because it's my family's favorite casino but I'm not going to go on my own anymore because there's no incentives or rewards, just throwing away money

Yelp
This review is for The Cafe inside the casino. I've been here several times but the recent two, I tried the tuna poke bowl. First, the service is always great. Staffers are always smiling, and courteous, service is of course prompt. The Cafe layout is always spacious - making sure there's enough room for wheelchair users - very thoughtful. Once seated, a server will drop by and ask our beverage preference. She disappears and magically, comes back with everything we asked for. Then we decide what we wanted, she noted those and goes off again and then come back with a basket of warm bread.... So nice. I love the baguettes. So, back to my poke bowl. The last time I had that, I didn't like the spicy Sriracha mayo dressing on it. This time, I asked for it on the side. And of course she did. Now I know what I don't like about it on top of that dressing. In the poke, there're diced pickled cucumbers, those I didn't like. It should've been fresh ones because the pickled cucumbers changed with the fresh flavor profile of the dish. Try again next time without the cucumbers and dressing.

Yelp
The best part is the Valet service. Friendly and efficient. There was a nice security person to open the door for you on entering/exiting the casino. Lots of machines to choose from. The smoke can get to you and there are ashes on chairs and in ashtrays all over so keep your eyes out. Cash out ticket system and ATMs available. Workers are not friendly nor helpful. Perhaps they don't enjoy their job. Overall a decent casino to play at for a few hours.

Yelp
Valley View Casino Review - Perks on Perks for a Fun First Visit! We decided to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday at Valley View Casino, and it turned out to be an awesome choice! From the moment we arrived, we noticed how clean and welcoming the casino was, making for a great first-time experience. One big plus was the free parking, which made getting in and out super easy. But the real highlight? The endless $10 perks for new members! When we signed up for a players card, we got $10 offers for slot play, meals, snacks, buffet discounts, table play, and more! On top of that, we lucked out and visited on a great day--we even received mini speakers just for signing up! Definitely a nice surprise! The casino layout is one open circular floor, with dining right in the middle back area, making everything feel close and convenient. There's also a smoking and non-smoking section, so there's a comfortable spot for every type of player. While I can only speak for my first visit and mainly came to play, I have to say that Valley View offers a ton of perks that will definitely bring us back! The atmosphere was fun, the staff was friendly, and with all the great deals, it made for an amazing birthday celebration. If you're looking for a casino with great rewards and a welcoming vibe, this is the place to go!

Yelp
I initially wanted to write and personally drop off this long due review on a VV comment card, but I don't know when and if I will be returning to VV. From my experience Valley View earns ZERO STARS on slot gaming. The promotional drawings are also a real joke. I have been coming here since 2007, player's card #493094 (note, I'm under my nick name " Lenae" on Yelp as I do not like to disclose my real name on a public site). I will express the VV gaming experience has gone downhill. The slots have become even TIGHTER and offer little excitement, and bonus payouts offer ridiculous measly payouts regardless of the denomination you play. The newer slots are also a real disappointment, lots of noise but MEASLY BONUS PAYOUTS; consider yourself lucky if you win $30 on $2.50 bet, bet max and be awarded nothing. All the fun and excitement is taken out when the slots make nothing but noise and bonus payouts are a measly token; no fun or excitement here whatsoever. VV is just a cash cow mouth feeding on your money for NOTHING IN RETURN, it's just a straight out robbery. I obviously don't expect a jackpot, but you should offer some excitement and loosen up a bit for players to enjoy the gaming experience, if you expect them to return to your establishment. I use to frequent VV twice a week at least, and on the weekends I'd bring my family. The last few months, they don't even want to come anymore due to the tight slot payouts as they are not enjoying themselves. As for the promotional drawings, my name has never been called for any drawing here at VV, not even for a token of $200 cash or Added Play. Note, every casino I've frequented as a regular player with a much lower card level has called my name in a drawing and given me the opportunity to win instant cash, car, etc. , EXCEPT for VV. Why is it that VV has NEVER given me the opportunity as a long time customer dumping money in your casino for many years ever called my name in a drawing?? It's apparent to me, VV selects only certain players to win at the drawings and from what I've heard it's the same individuals getting called. This is a small casino and for its size it really is unbelievable that my name has never been called in a drawing when much larger popular casinos have called my name and honored my cash prize. Additionally, on 8/31/25, I asked for a room as I was really tired to drive my long drive back home, and of course they told me they were booked. I really needed a room as I was really feeling tired, I barely made it home. I know I'm just another Black Card player, but I definitely don't feel valued at VV at all for all the good money I've dumped at your establishment throughout the years and get nothing in return but "all you can you can eat lobsters," which is honestly ridiculous when you know more could have been done to keep me.

Yelp
Friday, 9/20/2024: We were lured here by the promise of a free gift and great food. We were surprised it wasn't as smelly/smoky as before. A new filtration system perhaps? Yet the non-smoking area was full with nary a machine to find! Please expand your nonsmoking section. You reduced the size of the original one! The slots are okay. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. I lost but hubby won! At least one of us did! It is nice to visit, pick up free gifts, and eat great food!

Grace C.

Yelp
Was black card for couple of years n got downgraded to Gold. Machine is tight haven't won any jackpot for more than a year now, even with comps VV is tighter, I can't even book a room as a gold member, I think it's all for black card. I got $20 moreplay extra because it's my bday month, it's a joke! Barona n Sycuan offered me $200 just for me to go back gambling with them, n I haven't been going there for months. You don't get nothing back from VV! Valley View needs to do better with there more play n comps since their machines are tight, even it up!!!! I'm about to X out VV Casino & try different casinos instead, a friend of mine says Pala or Harrahs are much better with their comps n hotel , she get 4 days in a week at Harrahs hotel, she's been asking me to join her it's just lots of sketchy ppl gambling at Harrahs that's preventing me from going there.

Yelp
First experience at Valley View. GPS took us through some windy roads to the casino. I found out there is an alternate route that is about 6 minutes longer but much safer to travel especially at night. The big thing I didn't care for here was that it is smokey. My clothes smelled like smoke when I arrived home. We tried the buffet. They have a routine when you come in. Order drinks, choice of soup and salad with rolls. Then you can order up to four entree choices, can repeat as many as you like. The food was ok. There was nothing over the top delicious. Lol You're seated the whole time. If like to play slots, of course there's a lot of choices!!!

Yelp
I had a pretzel with cheese man was so good service was fast and great I have to for sure make a trip back first time here and was welcomed with $10 free play and another $10 for the table also 2 $10 dollar coupons for snacks a free small speaker and also discounts for food love the music they played I didn't wanna leave but for sure will be back loved it go check it out you won't regret it!!!

Yelp
As others have mentioned in the reviews, the slots are very tight. I'd read the reviews and understand that gambling is chance. Sometimes you win (rarely) and sometimes you don't (mostly). With that in mind, we made the trip. Nice casino and very clean. With that said the other reviewers hit this on the head. I dropped 400 and my wife 300 and neither of us won a single cent. Not only that but walking around the casino you could feel that there was no excitement or people hooting and laughing because they were winning. It was quiet, like someone vacuumed any excitement from the building. Nobody, and I mean nobody was winning anything. We will never return to this casino.

Yelp
Totally enjoyed playing at Valley View, even though I lost! Haha! Nevertheless the casino is very clean and they even have a self serve soda machine which I appreciate very much. The amount of promotional things you get when you sign up is pretty amazing including a free Bluetooth speaker which descent enough to have in your garage or back patio. The only minor issue is that they don't have a Veteran level card which many other casinos do. Still a good place I would return to.

Yelp
I came here for the first time today to Valley View Casion. Parking was easy overall. It seems like they are short staff. There was an hour wait to have lunch at the Cafe. That is insane for a casino. We decided to try the Stix Noodles and More. Also short staff, only one guy at the "pick up" line. Some people just get in line hoping their food will be ready. Well this add to the long wait. So much for efficiency and service. I ordered the wonton soup. The broth was a little salty but overall okay. I was hungry.

Lynn T.

Yelp
The food service personnel are a result of poor management throughout casino. In addition, unlike other casinos they've the audacity to allow "black card" members to go ahead of everyone in food lines. I can agree with hotel services, club membership, but I refuse to wait in line for 20 minutes plus(which is normal) in order to spend my money on their food, then here comes 3-5 black card holders that go ahead of the long line. Lastly, I'm sure they don't value customers spending money for their overpriced food.

Yelp
We've been trying to earn enough points to level up and gain access to the buffet, but it's extremely difficult to reach the 10,000-point threshold. The process feels discouraging, and there's little incentive to return for another visit. I did have the chance to eat at the buffet with a relative who has the blue card, but unfortunately, both the food and the service were disappointing. Additionally, the resort doesn't even have an app, which seems like a major oversight compared to other places. When it comes to customer service, this casino could definitely do better. I had to wait almost 40 minutes for assistance on a machine, which is far too long. Other casinos treat their guests, especially middle-aged adults like myself, much better--offering perks like coffee carts and more attentive service. If you want to stay competitive, you need to take care of your loyal members with better customer service. After putting in all that effort to level up, we deserve a superior experience. I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon. P.S. The slot machines pay outs are really low compared to the neighboring casinos
google avatar

Christina R.

Yelp
I only went because one of my friends was married to a gambler and he passed away, leaving her a bunch of points. She wanted to redeem them for food at the cafe. So we had salmon and prime rib for lunch. Thank you Lou for the meal. I ate prime rib with mashed potato and asparagus. Unfortunately, I ended up being sick the entire next day. I will not be going back. EVER. We live in a gorgeous city near the ocean and mountains full of places to hike and relax. Why on earth would anyone go here?! It's stressfullt noisy, smells disgusting- chemicals and cigarettes, with dumb flashing bright lights and no fresh air at all. Plus they pay to lose money!!!! I would rather read a book in a park, volunteer at a food bank, or go walk my dog by the beach FOR FREE!!!, rather than sit mindlessly staring at spinning colors and flashing lights losing money. Just makes me sad for humanity.

Yelp
Took some time off from Valley View to check out other SoCal casinos. In fact, I don't think I've been here for almost two years. So, I decided it was time to check it out again, and I'm glad I did. First, it totally sucked to be back down to a Red Card after being Silver to Gold for so long. That meant I had no free play, no dining credit, nothing. I averaged $5-$10 spins, played for almost 5 hours, and still didn't get to the next level. Maybe next time. We had lunch at the Cafe (that's another review), but I can say I was happy to be seated immediately! That rarely happens, so we just had good timing. Now, to those who complain about the slots being so tight, I understand where you are coming from, as I've deposited more than my share into these machines and walked away empty-handed. But this trip, holy cow, I was on fire! Not every machine paid, but I had some nice hits and bonuses this trip, including a $9K handpay! Part of this comes from educating myself my how slots work, what the house edge means, and making sure to bet smart on high-volatility machines and only playing those machines when I'm up. And also a lot of luck. Everyone I ran into was very nice and friendly, including the casino host, who introduced herself to me and congratulated me on my handpay. I was glad it wasn't as smokey as I remember. I do prefer smoke-free casinos, and a couple of people did light up right after sitting down to me, but I just finished my play and changed machines. My only complaint is getting there. Several other casinos are much closer to me, so I need something to entice me to drive the extra distance. If they keep paying me like the did today (HA!), I'll keep coming back.

Yelp
They do false advertisement via email, went to the players club and a Caucasian Supervisor said that you could only pickup once every month. They used to give the t-shirt every Wednesday weekly. Harrah's has far better true advertisement. Rita Reed, you should be ashamed on your false ads. Clearly states "Pick Up1 Shirt Per Week"

Nancy H.

Yelp
They tell you that the buffet waiting list (handing out of pagers) begins at 1:00 but that is never the case. Staff arbitrarily open the list much earlier so my planning efforts are always foiled. It's bad enough that they can't come up with a more efficient reservation system that minimizes time wasted standing in line, but it's intolerable that they don't follow their own policies.

Yelp
Bright lights, charming sounds, buzzing and unbiased demographic collectively focus on a jackpot or "the-almost-had-it," mentality. What other reasons brings this place such a normal high flow of traffic? Is the it the bountiful shaded parking and row of free-electric charging? Or maybe, the friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere? I think, it's the amazing buffet where you have multiple servers, point-and-select appetizers, entrees, sides, desserts, and beverages. Did not realize it, but children under the age of 21, must wait to partake. So add this amazing buffet as a benefit to the coming of age of 21 along with drinking alcohol. So, where do you go to win some money, charge your electric car for free, and eat until you're satisfied to make your EV drive your happy tummy home? Valley View Casino!

Yelp
San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians hasn't changed their philosophy since they first opened so many years ago. A student. Rose told me years ago, "go visit my casino, you'll love the food" and we did, this was pre-GPS in cars and we had a Garmin that took us to a dark, dead end street, we eventually found our way to a little humble looking building with a room full of slot machines, and a tiny restaurant way in the back corner that served the best prime rib ever! But the most important part of the experience was the hospitality and generosity because of the size of the prime rib and the quality since it was just over the top and it came with a genuine concern for making us feel welcome. Fast forward to many years later where many elaborate impersonal hotel casinos exist. Valley View hotel casino is not one of them, they are a modest medium sized casino with just the right amount of rooms, and the only one that hasn't lost their identity and core philosophy because they still value their customers, take pride in who they are and their values still holds true today with the same hospitality, generosity & heart with a concern for their customers. They absolutely have over the top food in every category from their delicious complimentary breakfast included with your stay, their unique transformation of their buffet, and of course the Black & Blue Steakhouse, our favorite. So, Where do you go when you don't play golf, bike ride, bowl or go out for a night of dancing for entertainment? Well, here's the place for fun, entertainment & delicious food! Enjoy!

Yelp
Went with friends to go visit. Great overall experience, good selection of games (Slot machines, black jack, ultimate Texas hold em, etc.) , and a few areas where there is no smoking/smoking for those who have preferences gambling. They do have free giveaways at times that they send in the mail for calendar of events. Amazing food selection from the buffet (not sure if you're able to eat if you do not have a certain membership), where you can eat all you can eat in portions. As well as a mini bakery next to it to have sweets. Service is good at times depending on the time you go. It can be pretty hectic at times.

Yelp
Valley View is very disappointing!! During the pandemic I did not go to any casinos. Valley View dropped my level from a silver card to a red card. I used to get 6 free buffets and hotel offers. Now I can't even pay to eat at the buffet. Valley View does not care about their loyal customers that tried to stay safe during the pandemic. Harrah's on the other hand let me keep my card level and I receive 4 free night stays every week and generous free play and gifts. Harrah's cares about their loyal customers. Soboba casino is another nice casino (non-smoking) that is very generous with free play and dining credit and gifts. We used to like going to Valley View. I called Valley View today and they said you have to be a blue card or higher to eat at the buffet. So sad.

Trudy A.

Yelp
I recently lost my phone at Valley View Casino, instantly was in panic mode, thinking about all my personal banking info etc. However, with the help of another customer and Star (Floor Manager) kicking into action, activating VV security , adding the key good deed of another customer turning the phone in to the players club, I actually got my phone back in record time. 5 exceptional people all under one roof?! There still is hope for this world after all! And of course the free, self serve soda machine is a plus. And the buffet is a worthwhile experience.

Yelp
For New Years, the casino invited people with players cards for a wonderful complimentary New Year's Eve dinner. I was pleasantly surprised. The dinner was amazing. The Chilean sea bass was the best I have ever had. It literally melted in my mouth. The brazed short ribs were a very close second. The restaurant was decorated beautifully for New Year's and the staff was so friendly and inviting. This was the first time I participated in this event and I hope I get to participate next year. Valley View went over the top with this beautiful New Year's Eve celebration. I could not believe it was complimentary. We tipped our waitresses very well as the service was over the top amazing. Valley View's players club Is one of the better players club. They are generous with free play and food credit. They have even throw in a complimentary hotel room occasionally. I don't gamble a ton and the player's club is still fairly generous.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed here one night since had a round of golf in the morning at Native Oaks. The hotel was simple but nice. The room was spacious with a nice size shower and bathroom. Dual sinks would have been a nice touch but still very functional. Not having a refrigerator was a bummer but the best part of the room was a firm and comfortable bed. If I can't get a good night's rest then everything else is secondary. The room was quiet, comfortable and very adequate for our one night stay. The casino is rather small and uneventful. Not very many table games and smokier than I like.

Yelp
Food tasted amazing! My dinner tasted great. Mashed potatoes tasted great as well. Desert was nice and put together. It was really nice overall experience.

Yelp
Food was great and we always have a good time in the buffet and the cafe. The hotel came with free breakfast, which was great. The service was also great. The only problem I encountered was the room. Although it was clean, tidy and spacious, the room fragrance was overbearing for someone with sensitive allergies. I had the worse headache and couldn't sleep. I almost went home, but I had to endure it through the night. It woke me up several times. When I woke up in the morning, my face was a little swollen from inhaling the fumes. They should consider having hypoallergenic rooms where the fragrance is made with natural scents, no florals. Those are the worst. I hope they make this change to make the place better and think about everybody and not just the people with allergies would benefit. The less chemicals, the better.

Yelp
While we have been to Valley View many times to gamble and eat, this was our first time to stay there. It takes a long time of gambling to get room offers. They have an 8 story hotel (according to the elevator) but actually only have 6 floors of rooms. The rooms are very nice. The two things missing are a refrigerator and a safe. Unusual for a casino hotel not to have a safe. This surprised us a bit. For the refrigerator, that was quickly remedied by simply calling the front desk and requesting one. It was brought up to the room in about 5 minutes. The room we had a single king, was very nice. I'm guessing 15 foot ceilings and nicely decorated. Our was on the same side of the hotel as the pool which you could see by standing by the window in the right-hand corner. They don't have security by the hotel elevators but you can't push a floor button without a room key to activate the elevator. If you are lucky, you can get a late checkout at noon. Our room included a free breakfast for two at the Cafe. Anything on the menu. This was great. Nice to wake up, go downstairs to eat and then come up to shower and get ready for the day. Would be pleased to stay there again. Hopefully next time for more than one night. Hope you get an offer for a room - take them up on it and...enjoy!!!

Yelp
Thought I would try the casino. Went to book a room. Appears you can only book a room if you are a member of the Players Club. That's fine. Went to join Players Club with the "Learn More" button and nothing happens after multiple attempts on iPhone and desk top. VVC apparently makes it very hard to give them money. In follow-up, called casino. You have to come in to casino and sign up for Players Club. Then you have to play and earn enough points to let you make a reservation. It is the least customer friendly policy I've encountered in recent times. Silly. I'll go to another casino.

Yelp
I haven't experienced a top notch service from the Manager of the Valley View Casino Buffett , Mr. Ryan, I asked him a favor due to health issue and he help us without second thoughts to seat us early and take extra effort to make our dining the best experience we have in all the casinos compared. Thank you again Mr Ryan .

Yelp
I absolutely love Valley View Casino. Me and my family always have a good time and we usually have luck playing their slot machines. The casino is clean and their hotel is also very nice. My favorite thing about this casino has to be the buffet. All you can eat lobster and crab legs and many other yummy items. Everyone here is so nice and we always have a great experience.

Yelp
It used to be the best casino. After they built the casino, the slot machines got very tight. They took away free birthday buffet, now you must have higher card to eat at buffet, ,$7 tip, you can not serve yourself anymore at buffet, now only higher card get buffets, took away drawings where you could win $1000, most of the times you got $5 free play, it seems to me they forgot about players, and they invested in nice hotel, at the expense of not worthwhile to loose your money, Harrah's is much better, I do not play too much money, but at least I get free complimentary hotel rooms.

Yelp
We brought my mom here for Mother's Day because she likes the buffet. We drove an hour and a half, and when we got here to get our member cards, the girl told us that we would not be allowed into the buffet because we're not a blue card member. Even though you have to pay around $50 per person to go into the buffet you now still have to be a gambler and have the blue card to enter. That was the only good thing about this casino. So basically even if you pay to eat if you're not blue card member, they won't allow it. Don't waste your time just go to your other nearest casino.

Yelp
This casino was located high in the hills. Apple parking. Serve yourself beverage station. The staff are very kind and friendly. Lot of nice slot machines and blackjack tables. Beautiful infinity pool area.

Yelp
I'm an avid Vegas vacationer visiting 3x per year and I love myself some Video Poker. I decided to visit Valley View Casino today because I was exterminating my house and needed 4 hours to kill. I live only 25min away. The parking is vast and complimentary. A doorman will greet you and open the doors as you enter. My first impression is that Valley View Casino is clean with expansive ceilings. The Players Club desk is welcoming and friendly. For opening an account I was given a Bluetooth portable speaker (a poor quality system) that I quickly gifted to my 6yr old daughter, was handed vouchers to spend on food, and $10 for slots which I do not play. Moving forward I found the nearest bar, parked, played video poker (9/5 odds on Triple /Double) and watched me some MLB action. It was just like Vegas without the comp drinks. A BIG improvement would be a Sports Book VVC! Three hours later I was up $160 and had friendly conversations with the bartender Kirsten. Near me a woman won $1200 on slots and a gentleman over $300. I would definitely return for a few more hours of play. It's too convenient not to. I did not experience their food, slot play, table games or food and probably will not in future visits. This review is for anybody who wishes to hear my opinion...

Yelp
Like jail but even more meaninglessz, i think posirivity is better than negativity so ill just state the onvious bullshit the restaurant hours a cafe opem till only 2? Full places that in big letters say LOUNGE the door is wide opem and u walk in the cbairs are pished up all against the wall but at least its a place of samctuary im like ok weird lounge but i can work with this, then ppl came in and said its closed?? Well wts is open around here. They seemed like nice ppl n all, but u know casions .. eh... lets just put it like this if a black card member dropped their card on tbe ground n i used it in a machine i BET you $500 The machines would act differently. The design of rennovarion and fact based stuff like the weird restaurant hours opening in intervals, every ithee casino has 24 hour restaurants, but ua the design of jt all is like someone disorganized on meth designed or someone in a manic episode. The sureounding area basically bum fuck egypt is more interesting relaxing and fun and im not talkimg shit if i wamtsd to he rude i would , but ya, you cant even eat at rhe buffet unless u piss enough money away in their machines to become a black card member, thats what my person accompanying me as best they could said, Awesome win whwre it kights uo and shakes at Pechanga means mean at least $85 or $100 or more here it means $12 !! Even MEGA jackpt revealed to be $8.50 when i sware it said something else before. I pissed away $50 n i sware ive never seen machines so prgrammes to just string u along n idk its weird man.. n ppl checking thru ur bags? Ive never heard of that no problem 4 me but kinda tacky, i get the gaming system, but this was no fun, cramped, but they sell come pretty good cigaretts for cheap, but oddly their mini mart is disguised as a chixkem restaurant or some shit? Idk i meam i saw the chickem but how would anyone know it was a mini mart if no one told them. Fortunately i went with someone who already knew, but.. still... ya go back to being generous IF U CAN. this was once home of the highest paying slots, i couodnt even find a map, the layout was like i said above

Yelp
Here to review my experiences at Valley View Casino &R Resort is San Diego's oldest , loosest and best casino. Been a loyal club card member for almost 20 years, there has been lots of changes, upgrades and new faces and some of the same original crew members, have had lots of goods times and not so lucky times, even got discouraged to try other casinos over the years..but overall always returned back at Valley View it's still a great place to go. First I'd like to start with the many places to eat, several new restaurants has been added over the years, their world famous all you can eat lobster buffet..7 days a week has gotten many improvements to mention the new wait times system to get in the buffet, larger dining space, new items on the menu always fantastic and delicious food. I have to mention several servers inside the buffet..Lucy, Linda', JJ, Sal J, Millet, Sally, Cynthia, Christian ,Dan and Marlyn at Snax & Stix fast foods are fantastic, so polite, friendly and very efficient they all really take very good care of you while dining. The buffet managers Jose, Jackie and Ramon greet you and make sure your experience is a good one. Pattie and Pints is another great eating place, new outstanding menu, prices are reasonable and service is fantastic. Snax&Styx fast food is for quick orders is 24 hours operations for those wee hours of having fun at Valley View now this is where the pricing gets better and food is very very good. Then have Black and Blue steakhouse a little pricey but believe me it's all worth every penny, very nice ambiance as well. The hotel stay has always been a favorite..always seem like home so comfy, clean and secure it's a total 5-star experience to me. Oh and when you wake up the next whether checking out or an extended stay there is complimentary breakfast waiting for you at The Cafe and man is the food delicious there, you have many options from the menu but my favorite has been the breakfast yum yum. The service is a 5-star experience as well. Also Sweets bakery has a delicious sweets selection as well as take out salads of your choice. If you looking for refreshments Valley View has 5 bars now, the main stage bar with the entertainment stages so yes lots of music going on. There is a large non smoking section for those who want to play the indulge is slots, table games and card games, as well as the larger section of the casino. Included in all the upgrades to Valley view there is now over 2000 newest slots so there is plenty to choose from. So if you are looking for a great time, great food, music, loosest slots, great winnings or a great stay Valley View is the best place to visit and experience. Oh I almost forgot to mention the all the perks for new members 200.00 includes bluetooth speaker, two free lobster buffets, free play, discounts and many more offers. I would highly recommend this place.

Yelp
We just visited the casino again. We stayed the night in the beautiful hotel. We had THE BEST STAY. We were treated so nicely by staff, our room condition was impeccably clean. We LOVED the complimentary breakfast. We met with family that lives locally to the casino for dinner at the Pints restaurant. Also delicious! This was our first hotel stay there. We got our free gifts, t-shirts and had some nice wins along the way. Valley View casino, you guys are doing it right! We love visiting. Thank you for the hospitality!!! Shawn and Alice Miller

Yelp
Valley view used to be a nice local casino with a great lobster buffet. Well in the post Covid world it is not worth the drive. They have doubled the size and completely cut out the majority of the public. They told us flat out that we didn't qualify for their buffet. That only for high rollers. We probably play $400- $600 when we play, like 4-5 times a month. We live very close so we may have evystarted going more often, but to be denied their most popular restaurant? We were willing to pay of course, but nope. We were barred. When we asked, they said we have to spend at least $1000 a day for a month to qualify. They cater exclusively to the hard core gamblers who are there every day, whether they bus them down from LA or they simply have money to burn. Um, no thanks. For $30,000 I can buy my own lobster dinner.

Yelp
It was my first time at this casino. And it was nice to receive free play, free food, and a Portable Bluetooth Unit as welcome gifts! Amazing!!

Yelp
Valleyview Casino used to be one of the top Indian casinos in California now it's the worst. It's not that busy here Saturday afternoon it's hard to believe how this casino went downhill. They don't give you any discounts on food or anything anymore. Worst experience I've ever had at this casino. We will never be back.

Yelp
If I could give no stars I would save you're time money and experience from being horrible and just go down the street to pala or harrahs pit bosses here will tell you 2 hands in to go all in and that you're gonna win it's the one and will have the dealer chime in as well almost bullying you into betting. Do not go here!!!!! Consider yourself warned definitely not a pleasant experience for a first time visit.

Yelp
I like to play casino and go to Valley View very often until I changed my red card to blue card so I got 2 free buffet. I used to eat before long time ago. Before covid, I could walk to get food and choose my own food. But now they changed the system by charging a service fee, mandatory tip of $7 per person. If 2 people eat for free, they have to pay $7 per person. I paid $14 but that's not a problem. But my problem is that I have to wait for a very long time to check in and have to wait another 1.30 hours. And when I was called by message, I had to wait in line for almost 1 hour before I could sit down to eat. Then I could order 4 items per person at a time. After the food was served, I could order 4 more items at a time. I could order as many times as I wanted, but you have to wait a very long time for the food to come. The food was not very delicious. But when I played casino and got free food, I had to use that privilege and others probably think the same as me...

Yelp
Terrible terrible slots here. Extremely tight lots of near misses for a large Progressive jackpots which we all know does not mean anything. The only reason that happens is to keep you on the machine . One machine kept jamming with my ticket in it, and the slot attendant was extremely rude and told me I would have to wait. I had to sit there for almost a half an hour. The place is old and ghetto. In all honesty, the only casino that win at in the Southern California area is Yaamava in Highland.

Yelp
Shout out to Watch Commander Danny! He was absolutely professional, sweet, kind, comforting (cute) and a pro at what he does. Thank you for making Valley View Casino a great experience. He was superb at helping me thru an anxious situation.

Yelp
I have been a Valley View customer for about 10 years. The COVID period saw a decline in customer service as it did with many businesses however VV has not recovered in the last couple of years. I only play Video poker and a few years ago the machine I played was moved into the High LImit area. I went from$5 a spin to $25, Not something I wanted to do but it was my choice. However today I had just started playing and a security person stepped up and said I had to cash out leave the machine. I asked why and he said we do this every day. I have been at that machine every Thursday at that time since they moved it in that area and this had never happened before. Also his manner was brusque to the point of rudeness. No excuse us, pardon us or we are sorry for inconvenience. Just cash out and get out. I went to another machine in the back of the casino I also play and it would not work. It has not worked for the last 3 weeks. I do not recommend this casino.

Yelp
We've been coming to Valley View off and on from the start when they were in a tent. I have to agree with many of the reviewers that it's become very dirty. Almost every slot has a bunch of full ashtrays and half empty drinks on them. Probably one guy in the entire place to empty them. Close to impossible to find a slot tech in case you need one. The atmosphere used to be fun. They had this big plastic box full of money (probably fake), but they did give it away often. They had slot tournaments. People were getting hand pays all the time, and they would announce winners. This guy, I think, called Lobster Larry would roam around, and while a little corny, at least they were trying. Food was much better before when you could serve yourself in the buffet. Now it's boring and not nearly the selection. They used to have tour buses from around so cal that were always dropping people off. Might have stopped that because of covid but the whole atmosphere is not nearly as fun or dynamic. Now it's just quiet, dirty and has the feel of them just being out to rob you. Like some have said, you used to at least be able to breakeven or make a few bucks occasionally. Now, it's just a matter of how long you can stretch out your loss. Just a matter of time. Whether you bring a couple hundred or a thousand or more, you will lose it all. It happened gradually at first but when you look back at what it used to be, when I was thinking about writing this review, it really is night and day. A drastic change and not for the better. The stars are for the comped rooms and free food but it really has become very dirty and they need to re-hire a few more people to keep it clean, like their local competitors do.

Yelp
It's just a small, local casino with plenty of machines available most evenings. Of course weekends are busier! Overall the food we have had- Patties and Pints, the Black and Blue, Stix have all been good. Black and Blue being our favorite! Not a smoker so that's always an issue, also wish the old All You Can Eat was available to all players once in a while.
