From the moment I stepped into this new restaurant, I was immediately swept up in a wave of warm hospitality. The ambience was nothing short of delightful, with a tastefully decorated bar that exuded a sense of comfort and sophistication. But what truly set this place apart was the food. Each dish was a culinary masterpiece, a testament to the skill and passion of the chefs. The flavors were bold yet balanced, leaving me eagerly anticipating each bite. The vibes were simply amazing, a perfect blend of casual elegance and upbeat energy. It was the kind of place that makes you feel at home, yet also makes you feel like you're part of something special. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. Whether you're looking for a place to unwind or a spot to celebrate a special occasion, this is the place to be on the weekends. I can't wait to return and experience the magic all over again.

We tried Val's this morning and it was terrific. The service was friendly and warm. We felt welcomed! We ordered and when there was something unexpected on my order (that I was allergic to), they whisked the order away and completely remade it - I was so grateful! The food is DELICIOUS!. Try the shrimp and grits and the French toast. Both were great. And the bacon was cooked perfectly crispy. We will go back soon!

Val’s – A Cozy Gem with Comfort Food That Delivers Tucked into a quiet corner of town, Val’s feels like the kind of place you stumble into once and return to again and again. With its warm lighting and just the right touch of modern flair, Val’s manages to strike a balance between casual comfort and elevated dining. Service was friendly, knowledgeable, and refreshingly unpretentious. Our server struck that rare balance of attentiveness and restraint, offering honest recommendations without overselling. Whether you're dropping in for a weeknight dinner or celebrating something special, Val’s delivers on flavor, service, and atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where you leave already planning your next visit.

I went to Val’s for the first time and I was so impressed with the service and food. The shrimp and grits, avocado toast, salmon and grits, I will definitely return!

We had a late lunch. Fried chicken sandwich was actually a fried cutlet, would not have gotten if I had known it was a cutlet. Also thankfully got a side of bacon to add to sandwich, no sauce or mayo or anything on the sandwich so flavor was lacking. Fries were seasoned but over salted. Shrimp and grits were oily with butter / oil pooling on top of the grits and grits were salty in general. Shrimp were over cooked. Avocado toast was dressed strangely was light on avocado recommend getting with a fried egg on the side. BYOB at the moment despite large bar, no drink menus were given. Staff was very attentive. I’ll try again in a few months to see if they get their stuff together

I really wanted to love this place. Unfortunately, we waited 45 minutes for a fairly simple order: French toast, scrambled eggs, and home fries for me; an omelette and home fries for my husband. The French toast alone was $20, which felt overpriced - especially considering it was burnt. The omelette was missing the vegetables we specifically asked for, and the bacon was extremely greasy, sitting in oil rather than being drained or patted dry. All in all, it felt like a meal I could have made at home - and probably would have enjoyed more. It’s especially disappointing because we were genuinely excited to support a Black-owned business. We live in the neighborhood and there are many really great restaurants and we need more, however, unfortunately, with this experience we will probably choose another brunch spot down the street. I hope they’re able to improve the experience moving forward.

I would highly recommend trying this restaurant for your next brunch outing. The food is a 10/10. I would highly recommend any of their fish and grits dishes since the grits are to die for. The fruity pebble waffles also were amazing.
