Van Leeuwen Ice Cream

Google
Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is bougie ice cream. Like Jeni's or Salt & Straw. At $7.45 per cone for 1 flavor. But as all of the spots listed, this is quality ice cream and worth every penny. Van Leeuwen is located in the heart of The Point in El Segundo. You'll find them in the center next to Simzy's and Kendra Scott area. You can order at the counter and then sit in the patio seating area with tables & chairs or Adirondacks. Honestly, there are tons of places to sit around The Point. Or take a nice walk enjoying your ice cream. Been dying to try the Mango Sticky Rice ice cream since it saw Whole Foods selling the pints. Unfortunately, it was sold out when I went to look for it. We are visiting from out of town and The Point is one of our fave spots to hang out with the kids and our big families. After we got dinner, we had to get ice cream. I was super stoked when we were at The Point earlier in the week and saw Van Leeuwen had Mango Sticky Rice on the menu. Unfortunately at the time, I was full and couldn’t eat anything else. Ha. So here we were again and I saved room for dessert. Funny thing is Jennifer helped me when we stopped by the first time to get a sample and she was there again when we came back. I recognized her and told her she helped me previously. Jennifer was great and so friendly. The Mango Sticky Rice flavor was super smooth, creamy with fresh mango flavors and a hint of coconut to give it that mango sticky rice essence. It’s so good. My daughter got the Brown Sugar Cookie Dough Brownie and my son got plain vanilla with a request to add maraschino cherries. Van Leeuwen had the fancy maraschino cherries, I think these are the cherries you serve in fancy cocktails. He was not happy with that as he likes the bright fake colored red maraschino cherries they get in Shirley Temples. Lol. I scooped out the cherries and ate some of the ice cream with the cherry residue on it and he was fine. Hahaha. They have so many unique flavors. I love these bougie ice cream spots with the different flavor options. Keep up the good work! Great location for ice cream being around so many restaurants and a perfect spot with families hanging out all day long. Good score Van Leeuwen!

The first time I had Van Leeuwen ice cream was in New York, and I’ve been hooked ever since. When I moved to California, I was thrilled to find out they had a shop at The Point in El Segundo. Hands down, this is my favorite ice cream. I love that they offer vegan options and refreshing sorbets, plus seasonal treats and sundaes that keep things exciting. The service is always quick, the staff is friendly, and of course—the ice cream is absolutely delicious. I love it!

Google
Van Leeuwenhoek is a good ice cream place with quality ingredients and good flavor. Food: Great Ice cream and a great amount of flavors. You will be hard pressed not to find something delicious to eat. Service: Walk up window with fast convenient service. It won't take long to get ice cream. Ambiance: This is an outdoor ice cream establishment so there are no indoor eating options. So you will get quick service in the colder months than in the warmer months. It is outdoor but it is outdoor at the Point in El Segundo, so it is a great outdoor shopping plaza. Summary, this is worth coming back to.

Google
The ice cream shop is in the middle of shopping stores, with table and chairs to sit and enjoy. The place is kid friedly the staff are nice and you are greeted with a smile. We had the banana bread pudding with fudge and honeycomb fudge ripple. The banana bread pudding tastes good on the first bite but it has an artificial after taste to it, if it doesn't bother you it is a good flavor... but i especially like the honeycomb the crisp added texture to it.

Google
Such an amazing ice cream place - high quality ingredients and top-tier flavors. It is situated in a very nice plaza so it is such a lovely atmosphere. We ordered 3 flavors - strawberry matcha latte, dulce de leche caramel truffle, and cookies & cream caramel swirl. Will definitely be back for more! 😋🫶🏼

Google
I went to van Leeuwen a few weeks ago to try the Strawberry Matcha flavor. It was amazing! I wish it was not a seasonal flavor, so that I could have it again. You will surely not be disappointed! Great work. Delish!

Google
Great service. Mint chip shake is 100% best flavor. Definitely try if you’re in the area!!

The shade area is nice, and ice cream tastes great! Very friendly staff members. Smells like cake, tastes like butter.

Yelp
With wintry season fast approaching, very soon eating something cold outdoors will be a battle of wills between my cerebral craving and shivering hands. So, I decided to grab an ice cream on a sunny afternoon while visiting The Point. The cute standalone shop offered a great variety of ice creams, sundaes and sorbets. The service was fast and attentive. For this visit I got 2 scoops of ice cream with the following flavors: Peanut Butter Brownie Honeycomb: The texture was creamy and smooth, a tad chewy and crunchy from bits of brownies and caramel brittles. Slightly salty taste balanced well with the overall sweetness. Sicilian Pistachio: The ice cream was also delightfully creamy, not too sweet and slightly salty. The nuttiness is present but subtle. It also had the beautiful "I can't believe it's no artificial" greenish color. The verdict: Ice cream this good, I will eat it in any weather.

Yelp
my go to van leeuwen location! love their mix of flavors. a bit pricey. got the "gooder" which is two flavors $8.95. they offer samples. always good and friendly service. i got a scoop of the marionberry cheesecake and dark chocolate fudge brownie so good! perfect sweet treat. i love that they offer vegan/dairy free flavors. so many topping options to choose from they also serve sundaes, milkshakes, root beer floats and ice cream sandwiches! seating avail right next to shop or around the point. parking: located at the point! tons of free parking

Yelp
I saw an ad for this pink peppermint fudge sundae at Van Leeuwen and it had stayed in the back of my mind. Something about the seasonal flavor now in December and the fact that it's pink with the pretty crushed candy cane garnish really got to me and I found myself driving 20 minutes out of my way to buy this $10 sundae. I had easy parking at the point and there was no line at Van Leeuwen so I ordered right away and came out quickly. Right away I was excited as I saw the height of the whipped cream and as I grabbed the cup, it wasn't frozen from the ice cream but pleasantly warm from the ribbons of hot, gooey fudge. For all these calories and expensive price tag this treat better be worth it, and it was. The fudge cut through the peppermint and the whipped cream added a nice creamy element. For a holiday treat this was very satisfying.

Yelp
OMG, this was the absolute best ice cream I've ever had in my 59 years of life. We had lunch in the area and we wanted something sweet after our meal. We walked around and stumbled across cute establishment. We'd never been here before but we were willing to give it a try; and OMG we were so glad we did. I had something that equated to a camel sundae and it was DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!! My bestie had the sane but had vegan vanilla ice cream (it was so good we still can't believe it was vegan). It had these little crunchy pieces of something that I still sometimes know what it was but it was sooooo good. I'm glad this location isn't close because I'd be there everyday. If you haven't been, get there ASAP!! I wish I could give it 10 stars.
google avatar

Sayaka S.

Yelp
GAMER CHANGER: if you love milkshakes, Van Leeuwen can make any of their flavors into a shake. Omg the earl grey ice cream in a shake is superb!! The worker let us sample the pistachio and mango sticky rice which were both a close 2nd. It's such a perfect little treat after shopping/dinner! Located in the heart of the point (great little mall). Cute little ice cream shop!

Yelp
I enjoy pretentious ice cream. Mostly because I love ice cream. Truth is, I'll eat any ice cream, gelato or frozen yogurt as long as it tastes good. Ice cream doesn't have to be expensive. I have experience because I frequently make my own, in fact I just made the custard for some strawberry ice cream I'll churn tomorrow. Today's ice cream prices are obnoxious. Understandable I guess if you're tasked with milking the cow, collecting eggs from chickens, harvesting the fruit, purchasing all the equipment and paying someone to do all the work. Van Leeuwen ice cream is good. You'll likely find a flavor that tickles your fancy. Maybe it's a good thing it's pricey as it probably keeps me from frivolous spending. Watch your grocery store for a sale day - it doesn't happen often, but when it does, take advantage and get a couple or four different flavors so you can be the judge. Keep on, keeping on Van Leeuwen!

Yelp
The service here is really good, the blonde girl was super friendly. As for the ice cream, it was nice and creamy. I really love the seasonal flavors! There's also plenty of seating outside the stall and the Point is a good location to take a stroll while eating dessert :) Lastly, really cool that they offer the free scoop vouchers when you leave a review on Google!

Yelp
My wife and I regularly enjoy Van Leeuwen ice cream from our local Whole Foods' freezer section. One flavor we've been wanting to try -- but have had a hard time finding because it's always out of stock, is Mango Sticky Rice. So when we stopped by this Van Leeuwen location and saw it was available, we knew we had to seize the opportunity. It wasn't busy when we arrived, and our scoop was ready for pick-up in just a couple of minutes. Unfortunately, I was extremely underwhelmed. Nothing about the flavor reminded me of mango sticky rice -- not even a little. On top of that, every bite I had contained ice crystals, which made the texture unpleasant. Whether it was due to improper storage or old ice cream, I'm not sure, but it definitely wasn't enjoyable. While service was friendly and fast, I was disappointed that the ice cream wasn't sampled beforehand for quality. If I were working there, I wouldn't have served it in that condition. Another downside: when we visited at 2:00 p.m., many flavors were already sold out. That doesn't feel especially late in the day to be running low, and in my opinion, it would've been better to remove the sold-out flavors entirely from the menu rather than listing them with a sticker. It just sets the wrong expectation.
google avatar

Janet L.

Yelp
Always get the Gooders because you can get 2flavors for $1.5 more. I mean one flavor is already $7.45, so might as well get 2. Pretty quick service even with a line going. Cute little ice cream shack stand. Variety of flavors, see pictures. I know they have seasonal flavors as well. Overall, it's a good place for ice cream.

Yelp
Us living in Los Angeles are so spoiled by the sheer amount of bomb Ice Cream shops. And with so many choices, it's great to have one like Van Leeuwen that stands out with its unique offering of flavors. And I think that's what separate the normal everyday ice cream parlors from the really tasty ones, the interesting flavors that taste delicious and have high quality. This time, I had the double scoop of vegan Cookie and Cream Caramel Swirl plus Honeycomb. Sadly my other favorite, the Praline Butter Cake was not available. Nevertheless, the combination I had was great together.

Yelp
stopped by the Van Leeuwen location in El Segundo and left both satisfied and ready for another scoop. The ambiance was such a pleasant surprise--this location is styled like an open-air shop, giving it a relaxed, neighborhood feel that fits perfectly with the sunny SoCal vibe. I ordered Cookies & Cream and Pistachio, and both flavors delivered. The Cookies & Cream was rich and creamy, with the perfect amount of cookie crunch. It wasn't overly sweet, which let the real creaminess and chocolatey notes stand out. The Pistachio was next-level--nutty, buttery, and just slightly salty, with an authentic pistachio flavor (no fake almond aftertaste here). Incredibly smooth and satisfying. On top of the delicious ice cream and cute outdoor setup, the service was amazing. The staff was super friendly, helpful with recommendations, and made the experience even better. You can tell they care about the vibe just as much as the product. Whether you're an ice cream purist or someone who loves to try unique flavors, Van Leeuwen is definitely worth the visit. I'll absolutely be back.

Yelp
DELICIOUS!!! Such good ice cream, I tried honeycomb and the special flavor dulce de leche caramel truffe and both were so good!! I sampled the praline buttercake and I will 100% be coming back to get a scoop of that for myself. The waffle was amazing, a little sweet and chipped off perfectly to pair with each bite of ice cream!! My boyfriend got strawberry matcha latte and he loved it, I love the strawberry flavor and it wasn't too sweet!

Yelp
We ordered 3 pints of ice cream for togo - Pistachio, Sweet Corn & Blueberry and Strawberry Yuzu. We waited for a little while they are prepared our order. Overall, the ice cream we ordered was just okay and didn't stand out much compared to other places we have tried. However, I did particularly enjoy the blueberry flavor, as it had a distinct and noticeable taste. Additionally, the service was commendable; the lady who assisted us was very responsive and addressed our questions.
google avatar

Dorothy C.

Yelp
Rich tasty ice cream and great service. Staff was very friendly and patient and let us try the flavors before committing. I got the blueberry jelly donut and while it was delicious I swear the donut bits taste like cheesecake (or at least the texture does). Paired it with a really fresh strawberry ice cream in a crunchy waffle bowl. Husband got a sundae and I stole his whipped cream which came in a giant ball mound. And the fudge is out of this world...like so good. Looking forward to trying more flavors next visit.
google avatar

Bryan C.

Yelp
The flavors here are extremely fresh and strong in taste. I tasted the peppermint stick and instantly fell in love with it. Ordered a Hot Fudge Sundae with Dark Chocolate and Peppermint stickX changes out the sprinkles to curls. Definitely some of the best sundaes in a long time compared with my usual Brusters Ice cream. Service was excellent will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend this location!

Rick S.

Yelp
The ice cream is good, but I feel the prices are a bit high where the portions are a bit small. That's my only advice for this place to make it a top option as a destination dining dessert place. Lower the prices or increase the portions of the scoop(s). They're competing to a degree with Handel's in Manhattan Village, the adjacent outdoor shopping center that's a short walk or drive away. Although Handel's caters to a younger demographic probably and Van Leeuwen's is possibly for adult affluent hipster foodies maybe, it's basically ice cream which everyone loves. It's a good spot if you choose it, no doubt 'tho. Parking is easy at The Point.
google avatar

Ivy K.

Yelp
I got the honeycomb flavor which is their quintessential essential Van Leeuwen flavor of ice cream. It was creamy, rich, and premium tasting. I tried a little bit of my mom's strawberry ice cream, it wasn't as good as the honeycomb. I thought the price point was a bit expensive for what you get. They could really reduce their prices for ice cream. But location makes it pricey since its in Manhattan Beach.
google avatar

Natalie F.

Yelp
Has to be one of my favorite ice cream spots. I love how they have different unique flavors such as earl grey which is my personal favorite and especially their honeycomb ice cream flavor! They have a good amount of vegan options as well:) 10/10! Of course service is always amazing as well as the ambiance! It's such a cute little shop for photos.
google avatar

Rebekah M.

Yelp
Very rich flavors, call me crazy but I'm doing tea and coffee together.... affogato and earl grey you heard it here first Ample seating, no line and cheery helpful staff
google avatar

Catherine N.

Yelp
I've always seen this ice cream brand at grocery stores and wanted to give it a try. They offer free samples and the ice cream was so good. The fresh waffle cones smelled amazing. The ice cream was a little expensive for one scoop, but I can sure taste the quality! ig: @cravingswithcat

Yelp
This Van Leeuwen location is at the Point! It's a super cute outdoor shopping center with plenty of outdoor seating. My friends and I came here on a Monday night, and it was so nice outside! I got a scoop of the Dark Chocolate Fudge Brownie. It was to DIE FOR! It was rich, creamy & delicious. It was also not too sweet, which I appreciated. The ratio of brownie pieces to ice cream was perfect. The bowl looks small, but the scoop was generous and was the perfect amount of ice cream!
google avatar

Calista C.

Yelp
I make a point to visit whenever I'm near LA. Their location here is a cute and quaint outdoor shop. The service was overall good. A bit slow in the way we had two smaller parties in front of us, taking nearly 10 minutes to get to the front. Despite the face there were 3 workers, it seemed only the woman at the counter was working. The woman was very kind in explaining the flavors to us as we tried them. We got the seasonal blueberry jelly donut and the sweet potato marshmallow pie. The flavors of both were great. I appreciated they were a little more unique than typical fall flavors at other ice cream shops. Something that could've been improved was the texture of the ice cream. The texture was more icy and crumbly, as opposed to smooth and creamy. Glad I got to try these flavors and am excited to return for the upcoming season's flavors
google avatar

Jon M.

Yelp
I don't eat a lot of ice cream but get the craving once in awhile. After eating great ice cream at Salt & Straw, this product just did not compare. It was adequate but not great ice cream. I also drop a star since they don't accept cash and should have a large sign with that info posted.
google avatar

Mary B.

Yelp
Very cute! Quick and easy. Love the packaging and set up. Sit outside on a 72 and sunny SoCal day and enjoy your fav flavor. Parking is easy. Plenty of seating. Priced as expected. Good quality ice cream and a variety of flavors. Lots of food around so you can stop by for dessert with the fam or friends after eating.
google avatar

Kayla R.

Yelp
Five words: Brown sugar cookie dough brownie. I mean the whole family enjoyed their ice cream but mine was definitely the best.
google avatar

Mellissa V.

Yelp
We were on vacation and wanted some ice cream. We did a takeout order. It was 5 minutes away from our hotel. The ice cream was very flavorful and creamy. When we picked it up the service it was ready. Give them a try!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious ice cream! Truck style ice cream shop by a shopping plaza. We decided to stop by after dinner and it didn't not disappoint! Service was quick and employees were friendly. Gave samples of the flavors I wanted to try. All their flavors are delicious and the ice cream is so creamy and smooth. Highly recommend the honeycomb flavor and the brown butter sugar cookie dough ice cream! Yum!
google avatar

Levi A.

Yelp
The non vegan ice cream tasted like it was vegan. The service and the ambiance was excellent.

Yelp
The kids love this ice cream , its so good . This is our third time here and we will be back for sure

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Van Leeuwen for a long time after seeing their pints in the grocery store and I'm so glad I did! I tried two flavors- butter cake and Marion berry cheesecake. And they were both really good! I think they need another cash register because the line moved a bit slow...at least the person that helped me was really nice! Would love to go back and try their vegan flavors.
google avatar

Brenda L.

Yelp
The good: I tried honey comb (a fan favorite), Earl grey, cranberry crumble (a seasonal item), and brown sugar cookie (?) flavors of ice cream. Two of them I got in a "the works" order which had whipped cream and honeycomb pieces. I loved all of the flavors and the texture of the smooth and creamy dessert. At first, my husband and I got two scoops but we came back right after to get two more because we enjoyed it so much. My husband's mood perked up after the ice cream because he enjoyed it so much. The workers were friendly. Their flavors were all so interesting and delicious. They had three seasonal options that also included pumpkin cheesecake and a chai tea. There's plenty of outdoor seating. The area is lively and fun for kids. There were families picnicking around. They have a lounge area with fire pit next to this ice cream spot too. They sell pints as well. The bad: Cranberry crumble was my least favorite because it had a sour cheesecake-like flavor. It was still good but was my least favorite of the four I tried. There's no indoor seating. They interesting: Whole Foods sells their ice cream too.
google avatar

Yelp
1. The ice cream had a good creamy texture, and I love the crunch texture of the cookies crumb included! 2. The spot has fun casual vibes as it is located inside an outdoor shopping area! 3. The staff was friendly and quick with my order! 4. Parking is plenty after 9 pm Note: The spot is located in the middle of the shopping area! Photo: The Works

Yelp
The flavor selection was impressive. I had cookies and cream and peanut butter brownie. It was fresh creamy not too sweet and delicious. My sister had Matcha and strawberry, which was an interesting juxtaposition which worked.
google avatar

Chris P.

Yelp
Very delicious and creamy ice cream. I ordered the double chocolate fudge brownie and cookies and cream and I wasn't disappointed! Prompt service and the ambiance was cute.
google avatar

Dinah G.

Yelp
I was Leeuwe-red into this ice cream shop because their array of vegan flavors. My sister is dairy free, so I was excited to finally find a dessert shop we could both enjoy. This location is a stand/kiosk located at the Point plaza in El Segundo (honestly the cutest outdoor plaza I've been to in a while!). We went at night (around 9:30) on a Sunday, and I was delighted to find this shop one of the few dessert places still open (until 11pm)! Even though it was probably toward the end of their shift, staff were still super cheerful and answered our questions about the flavors. Ice cream is ordered at one window and picked up at another just around the corner. We indulged in the Honeycomb, Pistachio, and Vegan Strawberry Shortcake flavors. I've seen Van Leeuwen at grocery stores and a little doubtful on the quality of the ice cream, but Van Leeuwen is right up there with all the other popular artisanal creameries. Love the vibes here, and their outdoor seating is the perfect spot to chill and hangout late night in the summer. So excited they're also opening up my locations around my neighborhood!
google avatar

Kristy L.

Yelp
I love van leeuwen and I came to this location when I was in the area. Of course their ice cream is superb! I love their early gray flavor and my mom likes their affogato. I also like that they have a vegan menu that I'd definitely want to try. Because this location is in a plaza/promenade, there were a lot of parking spaces but I could see how on weekend parking may be hard to find. The area is gorgeous and the outdoor seating is such a vibe. Service was good and we were able to comfortably ask to sample multiple flavors before deciding which to bring home.
google avatar

Sabrina S.

Yelp
A shout for joy because this place served not only ice cream, but a boat load of vegan flavors as well! Insert big smiley face : ) Free to taste test flavors, I tasted the vegan ginger cookie and strawberry shortcake. Ginger cookie won! Loved, loved, loved it. It kinda took me back to my childhood and reminded me of a Dutch cookie - speculaas that I grew up with. Lots of soft cookie bits, no skimp. Honestly, you can't even tell this flavor was made non dairy! Lots of outdoor seating. Price was a kinda steep for a single scoop on sugar cone $6.90, but I did receive a coupon via email for $2 off next visit!
google avatar

Jessica G.

Yelp
What is your favorite ice cream flavor? Mine is Earl Grey Tea and it's not a common flavor to come by. Van Leeuwen has my favorite Earl Grey Tea ice cream and I am so happy they have a location at The Point in El Segundo! Now I don't have to drive all the way to Culver City to get my fix! You should definitely try it out. They are known to have classic flavors as well as vegan alternatives. Instagram: @jessgoeat

Yelp
Located in a little cute shopping center. With outdoor seating only! Service is fast! Ice cream is delicious! So many options too if you are more sensitive to dairy.

Yelp
I've heard big things about Van Leeuwen and it has consistently held a top spot on my list of spots to visit! I went with a scoop of their Honeycomb flavor. I'm a huge fan of all things honey and it's not a flavor I see often at ice cream spots. For the steep price tag, I was a little disappointed by the size of the scoop. Definitely did not expect it to be that small. On to the actual ice cream, it was soooo good. A tad sweeter that I'd like, but not to the point of being unenjoyable. The texture of the ice cream was smooth, milky, and a bit chewy. There were little bits of crystallized honey which added a nice crunch. A solid scoop, but I'm not completely sure if it was totally worth the price tag...
google avatar

Cristina A.

Yelp
I asked for a milkshake reco from the staff and he said the honeycomb milkshake. Awesome shake... not too sweet and great texture with the honeycomb chips... love it! We also got a dark chocolate fudge brownie milkshake which was too sweet but still good. And lastly we had a cup of vanilla and chocolate ice cream... sometimes you got to taste the basics and both simple but delicious. This location is mainly outdoor seating and perfect on a warm California day with ice cream!

Karen A.

Yelp
Stop by to enjoy some ice cream and the lady who took our order was so nice! We got two scoops in a cup and the portion was good and you can totally share within two people!! I would skip out on the Oreo crushed toppings, they charge $1.25 each topping and both cups barely had anything on it. Lots of seating outside too. I would recommend !

Guadalupe D.

Yelp
Get their chocolate shake it is so good I finished it within 5 minutes !!! Let me know if you try it
google avatar

Jay S.

Yelp
I went back to this location and tried the milkshake, I was pretty disappointed to be honest, especially since it was $11. Big regret not getting ice cream or trying a cookie sandwich instead. Service was still solid and the ambiance at The Point is always great!

Yelp
Small chain with vegan and dairy-free options. Came here with a friend for post-work ice cream on a Wednesday around 6pm. There's free parking. Outdoor seating available. It's good for kids. They do have milkshakes and other sundaes if you want something heavier. Credit cards accepted. I got two scoops, one lavender and one brownie. The scoops are quite large; they do have kid sizes available. They give you the milkshakes once prepared on the side of the counter.
