Google
It was my first time here and Rachel made my experience amazing! She was kind and had great recommendations😊 the samples she gave really showed the variety of flavors in every ice cream I chose, and the peanut butter honeycomb was OUTSTANDING! What an amazing birthday treat. Will be returning 🤤🍦

Google
All the flavors at Van Leeuwen are so well thought out and delicious, my favorites are the pistachio and the affogato. Their customer service is fantastic, Ashley is so sweet. My top 5 favorite ice cream spots in LA

Google
Noah helped us and was incredible! Gave us recommendations as well as marketed vegan flavors for my gf for next time. Truly a great experience with great flavors! I got the peanut butter brownie honeycomb!

Google
Van Leeuwen never disappoints, and our visit was even better thanks to Ashley! She was super nice, polite, and professional while making the whole experience fun. The ice cream, as always, was rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. The flavors are unique and perfectly balanced, making it hard to pick just one. With great service and amazing ice cream, this spot is a must-visit. Thanks again, Ashley, for making our visit extra special! We’ll definitely be back!

Google
Van Leeuwen has the best vegan flavors of all the ice cream shops around! The cookies and cream with caramel swirl is fantastic!

Karni Reske

Google
This place is a gem! The ice cream is incredibly creamy, full of rich flavors, and made with high-quality ingredients. They have a great selection of unique and classic flavors, and everything I tried was absolutely delicious. Ashley is super friendly and helpful, offering great recommendations and samples to help you decide. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting—perfect for a sweet treat with friends or family. I highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area. Can’t wait to come back for more!

Google
Love coming to the studio city Van Leeuween ice cream spot! The flavors are expansive, deliscious and the staff is attentive and really nice. Shout out to Ashley for supporting my decision to try the Mango Sticky Rice flavor today!

Google
Wow! Taste buds were happy, the Big Face Coffee Affogato is exploding with flavor!! 😋 Bonus- if you’re the lucky one to be there when Ashley is working you’ll be greeted with the brightest warm smile known to humans and treated like royalty.

Yelp
Having first tried Van Leeuwen in Woodland Hills, I was delighted to see this Van Leeuwen next to Uovo right after dinner. There were so many tastes to sample, but I eventually tried two and settled on the Pearline Butter Cake - 100% recommend! It was the perfect amount of sweet and also the perfect amount for one serving. If you have discipline, I highly recommend their pint(s) since it's a better bang for your buck... but if you're one to binge an entire one in one sitting, you'll need to stock up!

Yelp
If you can stand the horrible parking lot and the some of the most pretentious people in the SF Valley, then this ice cream is worth it! I love Van Leeuwen ice cream, but this location - inside the newer Sportsman's Lodge mall thingy - gets 4 stars for being in such an annoying locale. LOL. But seriously, the ice cream is delicious and they have a nice variety of flavors, including a lot of vegan options that don't taste like blech. You can sample before you choose and the gals who were working the day I was there were really friendly. Just a couple benches for sitting inside, but there is a lot of outdoor seating for the entire mall.

Yelp
Some mixed feelings about Van Leeuwen. Staff is always pleasant, and I love the location also selling similar pints that you would see in the market. However their ice cream itself has been hit and miss a few times. Happy to sample all of the flavors, but some just end up being a bit more creamy than others. At the risk of being basic, their cookies and cream is one of my favorites!
google avatar

Mariela O.

Yelp
Love this location! Quick, always attentive and the ice cream, you can never go work with Van Leeuwen! One of my go-tos has been the pistachio, it's creamy, savory not as sweet and keeps you indulging for more.

Yelp
Omg the brown sugar cookie dough ice cream? it's dangerous!!! It's so sooo good! I haven't tried any other flavors because this one has a strong hold on me. 10/10!!!
google avatar

Er3yn G.

Yelp
I love this place because it's the closest and possibly only shop that has dairy free ice cream. It's in an adorable small outdoor mall with ample parking. There's never a huge line, it's open late, and the service is very patient. I like coming here after dinner to grab a scoop as a treat since it is expensive. But the menu has a good variety and my picks have been tasty so far.

Yelp
This is the best vegan ice cream I've ever had! I highly recommend the cookies and cream caramel swirl in a fresh waffle cone

Yelp
1 star for service 5 stars for ice cream. Unfortunately, the staff on August 8th at around 8PM did not deliver welcoming customer service. If they properly did their jobs, this review would've been 5 stars. There was a small line as my party walked in. Whenever it was someone's turn, these ladies would not say anything like "I can help who's next," they just STARED at you and if you wouldn't come up to them, they would just talk amongst themselves. When it came to my turn, I waited and made eye contact with one lady for a good minute until I decided to just start my order. As I was telling her my order, she had no facial expression, said nothing, scooped. She didn't even offer me any toppings and just went straight to the register, where another lady who also doesn't know how to talk, just entered in my order without telling me I could process payment. Instead, she set up the tab, turned around and spoke to her co-worker about some guy. I stood there without instruction for a good 3 minutes while this convo was happening & finally - one of them said "oh? No cash." Great! We could've saved time if your cashier was actually paying attention and told me sooner. Nonetheless, I paid with card and ate my ice cream. We stayed a little to see how else the other customers were treated, and it was exactly the same. I understand working with co-workers that are friendly, but you're still working. Managers should look at schedule and review. Oh- ice cream was great by the way! I would've loved to try the toppings if I was offered the chance. It is on the pricier side, but I love my sweets and this place served quality ice cream. I will come back, hopefully at a different time with a better staff. Looking forward to how management will handle this feedback.

Yelp
After pizza at Roberta's we ventured/strolled over to Van Leeuwen ice cream bc that's whatcha do on a hot summer's evening. Now vegan ice cream is where it's at. Like who wants to walk around farting after a scoop and then there's pimples. No thanks to diary. Ok tangenting there. Back to business: got a scoop of the cherry chocolate chip. Ahhhhh, it's delicious and there's just never enough scoops. It's subtle, not too much sugar, and the chocolate chips are chunky. Yummmyyy. Then we walked all around and explored all the stores bc this renovated sportsman is pretty. Gotta try some other scoops and flavors. Maybe the mint chip next? Summer I'm ready for ya.

Yelp
100% my favorite ice cream I am an ice cream lover and this place is one of the top tier in my list. The early grey is my personal favorite. I tried the Yuzu lemon at the store for the first time, it was the perfect tangy flavor I enjoy, so I got that, too. I like how we are able to try the flavors. Honestly, there were so many delicious flavors that it ends up being the hardest decision of the day

Yelp
We ate at the relatively new Sportsman's Lodge food and shop area and decided to have some desert as they have vegan ice cream. I had the vegan chocolate chip cookie dough in a cone and it was delish. My wife had All the Cookies and thought it was good. Our server was excellent and helped us try samples before we decided what to buy. Just a quick note: it's a credit/debit card place only as they don't take cash
google avatar

Shannon N.

Yelp
I figured since I was in the area, I'd give this particular Van Leeuwen a try. Have to be honest and say I've tried them more than a few times, hoping I'll get it right. However, I just can't seem to win with this place. This time around, I just went with basic chocolate, figuring I cannot go wrong. Service was just okay; very robotic as if she didn't want to be there. They don't accept cash, just card. I certainly didn't hate the ice cream, it's just not my favorite compared to Jeni's etc. I even prefer the basics over the Salt+Straw type, but it just falls a little short for me. Glad I gave them a shot though-

Yelp
It is always a joy visiting one of the Van Leeuwen ice cream joints. Their quality is always top notch, the service is always friendly, and the bright pastel colors of all the pints are my favorite thing to look at while I'm waiting in line. It is always so difficult to choose only one or two flavors from their list of extremely unique options. I went for the honeycomb and the brown sugar cookie dough brownie (quite the mouthful). My cousins went for the coffee and it was so good! This location was nice because it's part of a clean, chic and quaint shopping plaza with its own parking area and options to walk around to other stores with outdoors seating. Very cute date spot or just to go with friends and family. PARKING: First 90 minutes free in lot

Yelp
Best ice cream best people. Andrew is a sweetheart who makes everyone's day and takes such good care of you. Can't wait for our next trip here!

Yelp
New and Bold the Van Leeuwen of Studio City at The Shops outside the newly remodeled Sportsmen's Lodge off Ventura Blvd/Coldwater Canyon is a true treat. Probably one of my favorite frozen dessert shop chains with so many great classic and dairy-free options including their vegan chocolate chip cookies that melt in your mouth. I got quite a bit of takeout here the other night including two pints. The service is great and they're even available for delivery on UberEats/Postmates, DoorDash and GrubHub. The vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Pistachio are bliss!! Currently offering a Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery limited edition flavor as well as other seasonal/limited time flavors they tend to run out of. Van Leeuwen can be slightly on the pricey side for ice cream, however the flavor is so GOOD and worth every scoop or spoonful. "A Life Without Good is Bad"

Yelp
Thank you Van Leeuwen ice cream for existing! When I am in the mood for ice cream, Van Leeuwen offers vegan flavors that I can happily consume without having to worry about my tummy. However, I will say that the cost is pricy for what you get. Unfortunately, you can get a better deal buying a scoop at a Thrifty Ice Cream place or purchasing tub of ice cream from the grocery store but they likely cannot offer your tasty, non-dairy ice cream. Tonight, I tried the Peanut Butter (PB) Brownie Honeycomb which was vegan and $6.90 for 1 scoop (see photo attached). I enjoyed the flavors and I could hardly tell that it didn't have dairy in it. What I also liked about this Van Leeuwen store is that it is located at a 10/10 place in Studio City. You could easily meet up with a friend and just walk around the "Sportsmen's Lodge." Due to it's convenient location, especially for all my Valley peeps who had to drive to Culver City or hop on the freeway to get to a Van Leeuwen before this place opened, I will definitely be visiting again! #FriendlyToEnzymeLactaseDeficientPeople -- 12th Review of 2023--

Yelp
While waiting for our table at another restaurant close by, we decided to try our Van Leeuwen. I was impressed by how clean and presentable the store was! We tried a coconut cojito and a vegan ice cream I can't remember! It was tasty and kept us going until we made our table!
google avatar

Amy G.

Yelp
Cute store in a beautiful shopping center that's relatively new. Their flavors are always the best with a variety ranging from fruity to decadent and even unique. They have an extensive vegan list which taste just as great as non-vegan options. On our particular visit, staff wasn't too friendly but that didn't really change the fact that the ice cream was delicious. Single scoop was plenty for a nice treat!
google avatar

Hali Y.

Yelp
Nothing special, too bougie. TINY single cup for $7. Much prefer salt&straw down the street. Twice the cup size same price and delicious.
google avatar

Brittany V.

Yelp
Pretty good ice cream! A cute space and nice service. I was a little underwhelmed by the flavor selection, but I'd try it again. It's a great location in the sportsman's lodge shops, makes it the perfect place to stop for an after dinner treat.
google avatar

Margot C.

Yelp
This place is so good that I came back a week after my first visit because I was craving their ice cream. I again got a hot fudge sundae, which was totally delicious. I got the dark chocolate fudge brownie ice cream and the brown sugar brownie ice cream. Both were absolutely delicious but the highlight was the hot fudge topping. My fiancé also got a sundae. It was his first time here and he commented on how great the ice cream is. Definitely stop in here if you're nearby and want something sweet. You won't regret it.
google avatar

Ves S.

Yelp
Tasty but pricy! They do let you taste. This place finally opened. For a while they just had their ice cream truck parked in front of the Erewhon. It was quite busy on a Friday night with only two employees. They were friendly though despite the line going out the door. Most sundaes are about $10. We got one mini sundae (one scoop $7) and a $10 cookie ice cream sandwich. The cookie was nice and firm and and ice cream very creamy. A good end to dinner in the Sportsman Lodge complex
google avatar

Jennie H.

Yelp
The service was okay but my icecream was very good. This place is tucked away in a plaza where the Erewhon is. Finding parking is difficult
google avatar

Tally S.

Yelp
I came here after dinner at Uovo and wow I was impressed. I really enjoyed the honey ice cream. It was sweet and refreshing and had a nice crunch. I can't wait to go back and try more flavors!
google avatar

Heather C.

Yelp
Cookies are just the start to this crazy kaleidoscope of creams. Mac n cheese or mustard ice cream can be confusing but fear not! Open your mouth and taste the rainbow of colorful pallet stimulation. This is a must have after a splurge at Sugarfish.
google avatar

Victoria W.

Yelp
I LOVE Van Leeuwen! I'm so excited they opened a spot in the valley. My favorite flavor has got to be the vegan pb brownie honeycomb. So rich and decadent. This location is in a gorgeous little shopping center with some very $$$ shops next door. After you grab your ice cream I'm sure you'll spot a celeb or two at Erewhon. Great service with super friendly and attentive staff.
google avatar

Amy M.

Yelp
Here for Spring Fling and I was told I'd get free ice cream when I checked in. Turned out the cone itself was free but I had to buy the scoop of ice cream so that was a surprise. I liked the taste of the mint chip. Sampled the Kazu lemon and thought it was way too sour. You're better off just grabbing the pint rather than getting a single scoop for $6.90.
google avatar

Nijole T.

Yelp
I am so glad to see them expand into the valley, their ice cream is outrageously. Good! They have a bunch of unique flavors, one is tastier than the next! Service was friendly, the store, very clean and well-maintained with a great selection. Prices are fair considering the quality and care they put into their products. Great option for a refreshing treat in the area!

L R.

Yelp
My fav ice cream spot in studio city! Perfect for dessert after dinner in the plaza. The manager and workers are so friendly and the music is always great!
google avatar

Peter H.

Yelp
$7 will get you a scoop of delicious ice cream. I recommend just buying a pint for $11. My favorite is the PB and Chocolate chip.
google avatar

Jazz M.

Yelp
The design, staff and variety are 5 stars but I just spent $6.50 on a vegan scoop and tbh I threw it in the trash 3 steps out of the shop. I just think vegan flavors need to do more nowaways.
google avatar

Courtney S.

Yelp
Ordered for delivery at around 10pm last night which is super convenient for those late night cravings! My bf loved the lemon poppyseed flavor which was delicious but my favorite is their browned butter chai! So delicious!!! Hand packed and delivery was super quick although I'm right around the corner. I'm so happy this place opened! For sure gonna gain some lbs lol!
google avatar

Muskan B.

Yelp
loveeeee this spot! always been a fan of van leeuwen, but finally coming to a local shop. staff were incredibly sweet, & we came on a tuesday (free topping day!). we ordered the vegan churros & fudge ice cream & it tasted wonderful! it's nice that they have a large variety of vegan ice cream, def excited to try more flavors!
google avatar

Maika P.

Yelp
Randomly came across Van Leeuwen pints at a Whole Foods and I've been obsessed ever since. I think the Honey Comb ice cream is probably one of my top 5 fave flavors ever. So happy to see a Van Leeuwen store front open up in studio city! I usually come to this plaza for Sugarfish and it's so nice to get some amazing ice cream after a good meal. Hot tip: come on a Tuesday and get a free topping!
google avatar

Audrey L.

Yelp
What is better than fancy ice cream?!! Pretty much nothing. We sampled a few and ended up getting peanut butter brownie chip, hazelnut fudge cookie, and honeycomb. I would hands down recommend getting each one of them. If your feeling wild, the limited edition flavors are always fun, we got a sample of the Glass Onion, interesting and weirdly good! Side note: this new complex is gorgeous, we got wine at Roberta's to start, dinner at sugar fish, and desert and Van Leeuwen!
google avatar

Jennifer T.

Yelp
Van Leeuwen is conveniently located right by Silver lake ramen. So if you've saved room for dessert after a warm bowl of ramen, I have just place for you! Favorite flavors here are Earl Grey and Honeycomb. (These are also available in my local grocery store so I don't have to travel in all the way here for those flavors.) Not sure what flavor to choose? Get samples to taste and then get multi scoops! But when you're in the area and craving something creamy and sweet, they have a variety of flavors, including vegan flavors, that is sure to make your taste buds sing! Rich flavor, creamy and smooth ice cream (or sundaes) can be found right here!
google avatar

Edythe M.

Yelp
Yessss as if I needed another delicious ice cream spot to frequent. It's a bit pricey but what spot in Ventura isn't Lots of unique flavors! The music in this place was an absolute vibe
google avatar

Kristin A.

Yelp
Newly opened in hipster shopping spot. The evening I went, the service was EXCELLENT and each flavor I tried just HIT. Each of their offerings has some serious chunk and/or bits and I love that. I had black cherry chip (reminiscent of Thrifty black cherry but not fake flavory), raspberry layer cake (this was the nice surprise as each bite I took had the cake!), and peanut butter brownie chip (I always need to get something chocolatey).
google avatar

Peggy C.

Yelp
Van Leeuwen has been a great addition to the new fancy Sportsman Lodge area, and they always carry a wide array of delicious flavors doled out in generous portions. The staff is very friendly and fast, and good about offering taste tests and focusing on each customer once they've started. They have a few tables and benches to eat inside, but the Sportsman Lodge offers a lot of nice outdoor tables to enjoy your ice cream in a pleasant setting. Favorite flavors have been the marionberry cheesecake and the dark chocolate brownie.
google avatar

Yelp
Interesting that they flagged my review for removal. Why? I violated no community guidelines. Here it is again. If I'm flagged again, I will file a formal complaint that they don't accept legal tender: "I place my order for a two scoop treat. The woman hands me the ice cream cone, charges me an astronomically high price of $9 (which, you know, is fine, because the prices are posted), and as I take my first bite, I hand her a $20 and she stares at me as if I've just grown a third eye. "We don't take cash," she says, making no note of this "policy" being not posted anywhere, and instead swings the tablet with tip already factored in. I look at her, there's cash in the tip jar--OF COURSE--and I hand the ice cream cone back to her. I don't think this legal, and cash is all i have. "Bye." She looks at me, dumbfounded, as if I've now grown a fourth eye. To not accept cash--especially when it's not posted anywhere--is racist and classist (as if their prices alone aren't). California thrives on an underground economy where a lot of people--shhh, they're not here legally--help us all live better lives. Many of "those" people don't have credit cards or debit cards or Apple Pay (often out of fear alone). So to hell with you, Van Leeuwenho, you are racist, classist, and overpriced."
google avatar

Amelia S.

Yelp
Good quality ice cream with interesting flavors. One scoop is $6.50 and it's not a very big scoop. So I agree, it's definitely pricey. You also can only get one flavor per scoop- no split scoops. I like that they call out what's vegan and what allergens apply to each flavor. They also have a freezer where you can buy pints to take home.

Amity T.

Yelp
Ice cream is really good, and staff is super friendly!! They have a lot of vegan options which is so great!
google avatar

Hanna C.

Yelp
So cute, clean, and friendly! We got 2 scoops in either a waffle cone or cup. I tried the earl grey and honeycomb, while the bf got the pecan and cake something (obviously I wasn't jazzed about his picks...maybe he did that to prevent me from stealing haha) The earl grey is legit earl grey....as in I could taste even the lemon for the tea haha. A bit strong for my tastebuds but definitely what I asked for. I wish I just got 2 scoops of the honeycomb! So delishhh! Also this complex is kind of hidden away from the road but it looks brand new
google avatar

Dani R.

Yelp
I love their ice cream, but $6 something for a small scoop of ice cream is ridiculous! Inflation is crazy but this is just downright stupid. I can buy the pint at the store for that or less on sale. My kids got sundaes that were $13, they didn't care for them and didn't even finish them. The whip cream on the sundaes was not great. So all in all it was a successful outing $35 dollars later. Workers were nice but no one was in there, felt bad for them. Parking is crazy and gets a little crowded. I think I'm good with going in store, I'll just get the pints at the store.
google avatar

Marcus J.

Yelp
The ice cream here is absolutely amazing! The staff is super friendly and they let me try like 100 different flavors!! I ended up going with the PB Brownie Honeycomb which was super bomb. The waffle cone was good and that home made taste on the ice cream is incredible. I really enjoyed this place. The waffle cone was so big I ate out of it with a spoon which was very unique. I loved this flavor and am looking forward to eating it again!! We need this in stores!!

Amira V.

Yelp
Easily the best ice cream in all of LA! hands down. my fav go to's are the pistachio and fudge brownie with fudge on top! So good, I pop in too many times to admit. Not only is the ice cream incredible but the service is superior as well; Andrew and Sam are the coolest people ever!! Always makes me happy to see them. Thank you Van Leewens!
google avatar

Jackie H.

Yelp
I've never heard of Van Leeuwen before, let alone "French Ice Cream" so this place was definitely a surprise to me. This isn't your regular ice cream shop, they have a variety of vegan AND non-vegan flavors! I love their milkshakes more than anything and nothing beats a good ole fashioned scoop of vanilla ice cream. You can just taste the quality and freshness of the ice cream here and I love that they're constantly bringing in new flavors! The employees here are always cheerful and are patient with every customer that walks through those doors. It's in an ideal location too since you can grab dessert here after eating at the restaurants in the Sportsmans Lodge.
google avatar

Collene S.

Yelp
What a fun shop! We had Yuzu lemon, pistachio and a few other flavors...we all loved it! The waffle cones have a bit if cinnamon in them...YUM! We also love Sam, recommends the best flavors!
google avatar

Kristina L.

Yelp
People working were nice and helped supply some tasty samples. I tried the strawberry and praline butter cake and my husband tried the brown sugar cookie dough and another one that i can't remember. We both ended up getting a single scoop in a sugar cone. If you want a waffle cone, that's extra. I ended up getting a scoop of the praline butter cake and he got the brown sugar cookie dough. They were both good. Nice and creamy and not overly sweet. A single scoop is $6.50, so it's definitely more expensive than your average ice cream shop. Not entirely sure if it's completely worth it, but it's a nice splurge once in a while. You can get an ice cream sandwich for $10, but we opted to just get a single cookie, which was $3. We didn't get a chance to try the cookie yet because we were so full from dinner and ice cream but it looks good lol. Our total for 2 scoops in a sugar cone and 1 cookie was $16. The Sportsmen's Lodge has some great dining options and shops so it was nice to get dessert here and walk around. Parking is free for the first 90 minutes. There aren't a ton of spaces available, so on a Friday night, it took a little bit to find a spot. There's also decent street parking (without meters), so you could easily park there too.

Mark S.

Yelp
Meh, Nice spot to walk around or hang outside but the flavors are mid. Server not overly friendly but with people not making up there mind would bother me too. Would have liked some recommendations or offers to taste what we were thinking about up front. Honeycomb was a neat idea but base fell flat. Chocolate brownie was ok chocolate but brownie was dry. Tried to get a sundae but out of fudge, cmon Price waaay high for a tiny serving. Not upset at the size since we don't need bigger but cost per ounce is unnecessary.
