My safe place and the reason why I moved to Jersey city in 2019! So beautiful, well taken care of, lovely weekend farmer’s markets, and community. Only thing is some dog owners allow their dogs to go in the No Dog zone and plenty of irresponsible dog owners allow their dogs in the dog runs who shouldn’t be there. I have a dog myself but that doesn’t entitle me to curtail rules or courtesy to my fellow neighbors and park goers. Love the two little small libraries too!

Google
It’s so pretty, there’s a small fountain in the middle where the birds are bathing. I’ve noticed some beautiful blue flowers on a bush that I’ve never seen before & also hydrangeas which are thriving. It’s well maintained & clean. We are filming a movie nearby & I wandered here to sit down for a moment & I am so glad I did :)

Google
This park is truly magical through the seasons and a great place to hang out if you're searching for solitude. It feels safe both day and night as it's well lit. The farmer's market on Saturday morning has become a staple for us. The kids playground is great and the new dog park is a serious improvement over the muddy mess it was before (note: it's almost always packed with dogs). Kudos to the JC community for taking such great care of this beautiful park.

Google
Great park to hang out with friends. Also each Saturday there's a farmers market located in the center of the park. It's also very shady and you can rest there. Little update Cam Vorst Park started doing garage sales here's some pictures.

Google
Nice and cozy. Great dog run separated for small and big dogs, (currently being renovated with cooler things). Beautiful gazebo. Cute playground for the kids. Adorable resident made birdhouses. Overall a great park.

Google
A nice children's park with lots of greenery, dog park, wet pool, rides and plenty of play area within the city.

Google
Nice little park with many trees. It has some varieties of blossoms that I hadn't seen before! I wish it was bigger and that JC had more green spaces!

Yelp
Such a beautiful little park with plenty of blooming flowers and well kept bushes and trees. There is a small fountain in the middle where the birds are enjoying the water & it's lovely to watch them bathe. There are plenty of thriving hydrangeas & a beautiful blue flower I've never seen before which I'm attaching in case anyone recognizes it? I'm so happy to have stumbled upon this oasis

Yelp
I love green spaces in cities. They're always full of life and a sense of community. My friends and I walked through the park. There was a fountain at the center of it all. The shade was blocking the intense sun & gifting us with cool breeze and cover. We also found a free library in the park- unfortunately we didn't have books to exchange but we took books that we wanted to read but cannot afford (books are expensive). What an amazing park !

Yelp
Neighborhood park worh a small playground structure. Benches surround the area for caregivers to sit on. Also a small water play area.

Yelp
Absolutely loved the dog park at Van Vorst Park. The park is divided in two sections-- the big dog area and the little dog area. Both sections have a water fountain for dogs! Our dogs had an absolute blast running around and playing with other dogs. I really appreciated the fact that they have turf. The dog park by our house is dirt and it gets muddy if it rains. Overall, we had an amazing afternoon with the pups.

Yelp
This is a brilliant park. It's green, cozy, has so many flowers, and gives a good feeling overall. You can sit and see squirrels and birds around. I mean, it's such a good vibe to be there. I haven't visited the farmers market here yet. Everyone who likes parks should visit this park once.

Yelp
The best park maintained by the greatest group of community volunteers! It may be small, but don't let its size fool you. There's always something going on here and plenty to see. Farmer's market, performances, variety of plants. The park is so well-maintained - better than most parks across the river.

Yelp
This is a quintessential local park and I'm lucky to have Van Worst Park within walking distance from my digs. My building has an outdoor area with a pool, but after labor day it all shuts down. Why I can't at least go outside in the grassy area is beyond me, but hey, that's a different review for a different day. I work from home, and while it's still nice out I treasure my 30-45 minutes of sunlight. My escape from the computer screen, my vitamin D, my sanity....the list goes on. Van Worst has quickly become a go-to spot. During a weekday the park is vibrant. There are children playing, people eating lunch during a work break and others just strolling about. It's a nice place to people watch and I like how it isn't packed out but also doesn't have a completely deserted feel. During the weekend when the farmers market rolls in this place is popping off, so a weekday is a good time so savor the peace. My one complaint is that it's a bit too shady. I wish there was a larger and more open grassy area to sit in with direct sunlight. You can catch a bit of sun if the timing is right, but for the most part it is a very shady park. Yes, Liberty State and Frank Sinatra park are bigger and have scenic waterfront views. But, if you are looking for something quaint and local then take a trip to Van Worst!

Yelp
Well this park is just b.e.a.-utiful. Holy cow. On a spring/summer day this place is borderline majestic. They have a separate dog run/s for both small and large dogs, a bandstand, picnic tables, benches and plenty of ample space for a blanket or 5. The park is host farmers, markets, craft fairs, movies and such and should really be praised for what it is: a pillar in the local neighborhood community. It's not large by any means but it sure is grandiose in beauty in spirit. This is a sure bet as a great way to pass some time in JC.

Yelp
I still love this place. The longer I live near it, the more it grows on me. It's just so beautiful no matter the season. We just attended Movies in the Park tonight. (This week it was "Argo"). How awesome! Movies nearly every Wednesday night, for free, throughout the summer. There's also a weekend yoga in the park thing going on now and then as well as the fabulous farmer's market (which some weekends incorporates craft fair stalls, too!). The happy dogs and kids that always fill the park are great. I love to sit in the grass in the sunshine. Still don't like the many middle schoolers that fill up the place, screaming and being obnoxious from about 2:45 - 4pm on most weekdays. But I just avoid them! Love love love it here.

Yelp
Gotta love this place. The Sat farmer's markets, the dog park area, and the children's playgrounds.... all great! My one small complaint comes from the City stating that all citizens can be fined if you dont clear snow/ice off your sidewalk within 24 hours... and this park has been under a full 3-4 inches of ice ALL FEBRUARY. Cmon, hypocrites... get out your shovels! Our puppy loves to come play with the regulars here, and during the warm(er) months, we love our morning walk on Saturdays to grab tomatoes and let our dog linger to soak up some stranger-lovin'. A real gem to live near in a fantastic area of the city!

Yelp
I use to love bringing my 2 year old to this park after daycare to play, run around and scooter.Ever since they upgraded the kids park It is not as toddler friendly as it use to be.There are no barricades to protect kids if they slip from climbing, alot of rope action so not really easy accessible if I need to run and grab my kid in case of an emergency. I have seen a little boy fall from the top of the slide tumbling hitting all the ropes on his way down just doesn't feel as safe as before and makes me more paranoid to have my 2 year old go exploring. It would be nice to make a little park for toddlers so they can enjoy there time as well besides the few swings and sand pit available to them.. Other than those minor issues it is a beautiful little park especially in the summer time.

Yelp
Gorgeous park with two kids play areas, a large and small dog run, running fountain, a gazebo, and multiple walking paths. This gem is small but mighty, a real center of the most beautiful neighborhood in downtown Jersey City. Shakespeare, Movies in the Park, and Farmer's Markets are a staple of community events that take place here regularly. Botanists and bird watchers should check out this park, all of the plants and flowers are labeled. Some of the most gorgeous natural gardening I have ever seen. Adjacent to the Jersey City Library, and within shouting distance of Jersey Avenue's retail spaces, this is a great place to come and take a break, people watch, eat a picnic on the dog-free lawns, or socialize your kids and pets.

Yelp
Van Vorst is a quaint community park in Jersey City. It's a great resource for local residents - with farmers markets, a summer film series, and other events. Plus, it's super canine friendly with dog runs - it's a great place to walk your dog. If you have kiddies, there is a play area. Lastly, the park is landscaped beautifully. Take a seat on a bench and take in the scenery!
google avatar

Yelp
I'm so lucky to have this park as the view from my apartment. It's the cutest little spot to pretty up downtown Jersey City It's got a little something for everybody - dog park/run, playground, chess tables and tons of benches. I am so excited for May when the Farmer's Market returns!!
google avatar

Marilyn M.

Yelp
Trees Flowers Yelp is stupid Farmers Market Dog friendly The air is lovely My dog likes to smell things here Kids seem to enjoy the playground One time I saw a pretty flower here There are citibikes nearby It is surrounded by streets
google avatar

Alex S.

Yelp
Exactly what a park should be! It's not big, but makes the best use of its space. Whether you're here for a local event, the dog runs, or just to stop and smell the flowers, it's a welcome part of the 'hood. I took some wedding pictures here with my wonderful bride, and it made a beautiful backdrop.

Yelp
A green little oasis with plenty of quiet spots if you want to sit down with a book or a cup of coffee to ruminate over life or your boss or anything less mundane. The park hosts plenty of community events, movies in the summer (filmsinvanvorst.com), farmer's markets and craft bazaars over the weekend. They also have a small play area for kids. Love this place!
google avatar

Wei S.

Yelp
This is a cute little park near Brownstone Diner. My husband and I loved to walk around after having a huge meal. The park has a dog run section, a play ground with swings, and a little flower path. It was nice to walk around there.

Yelp
This is a gorgeous, small little park located in the historic downtown of Jersey City. It's beautiful and you can find little community events going on here if you happen to swing by at the right time. I enjoy walking through here and burning some time. It's a great place to hang out. Has that cool neighborhood feel to it.

Yelp
This is such a lovely park to visit. On weekends there is an occasional farmers market. Check website for hours and updates. It is dog friendly but there is no place for them to run around off the leash. Certain areas are closed off to dogs but you can bring a picnic blanket and lay out without having to worry about where your stepping. It's located near downtown Jersey City so you are walking distance to many restaurants, shops, delis, juice bars etc. there is a citi bike rack conveniently located at the entrance. There is also street parking available if you can find a spot. Lots of benches for seating and garbage cans so the park doesn't get dirty. There is a beautiful fountain in the center with a bird bath and lots of trees, plants and flowers.

Yelp
As a photographer, I have found this little park to be one of the most "botanically interesting" city parks I've ever seen. I love to photograph flowers and nature and the variety of flowering plants and trees in this little gem of a space is mind-blowing...especially in Spring and early Summer. Great playground for the kids or a lovely place for a meditation walk, as peaceful corners abound. One of my very favorite places...period.
google avatar

Nelson M.

Yelp
Love this park. The community's commitment and Marc's perseverance to maintain the space noteworthy. Old timers can't believe the transformation of this park from drug infested dump to beautiful space complete with playground and dog run.
google avatar

Yelp
Your number one selfie spot. Or retreat to eat your takeout lunch. As I was strolling through the park on Saturday, I encountered the farmer's market. 10 minutes later I was on my way back to my apartment to drop off the fresh produce and bread I just purchased and to get my kitchen knives for one of the merchants to sharpen. The scenery is gorgeous with flowers the size of your head and historic brownstones that surround the perimeter. There's a little something for everyone at this park whether you're looking to bring the kids to the playground, let your dog run free in the dog park or just a spot to relax and peel back that cover to your latest read. Bring a tapestry to sit on or just enjoy the benches and tables scattered throughout.

Yelp
I can't say enough great things about this park. The association that maintains it does an amazing job. It's a center for the community. In the spring there are free bootcamp classes, yoga classes and a farmers market on Saturdays. The movies in the park during summer are wonderful and it's really a delight to see the special programming planned throughout the year. We are really lucky to live so close. The flowers planted are so beautiful and our dog loves the two dog runs.
google avatar

Tiffany L.

Yelp
This is a small but beautiful park. Has a small playground for kids, it's full of greenery and makes a lovely space for a walk. We go for the small dog runs. They are separated into 2 runs - one for small, and one for big dogs. The runs are always full of well-behaved dogs and nice owners. There's farmers markets and events during the summer!
google avatar

Alan S.

Yelp
I live right next door and it's great to have a green space to walk through every day. There's a lot of activities going on at different times; farmer's market on Saturdays, egg-hunts at Easter, and even an outdoor cinema night in the summer! Nice little bandstand, play parks for the kids, and the dog run means there is no shortage of cute animals in the vicinity! Only spoiled slightly by the obnoxious youths that sometimes frequent the park after school, but I can't really complain about a park due to its patrons... great stuff!
google avatar

Dina R.

Yelp
Farmer's Market every Saturday May to November, movies in the park Wednesdays all summer, a party for every holiday, and only two homeless guys. Awesome!
google avatar

L N.

Yelp
Van Vorst Park is quite lovely. You can drop the kiddies off at the playground while you peruse the farmer's market on Saturday mornings. There is also a dog park with separate areas for small and big dogs complete with a doggy drinking fountain and clean up baggies.
google avatar

Samantha K.

Yelp
Great spot to relax, take a breather, but best after dark when the kids are gone. I love kids but i also love silence. lol
google avatar

Yelp
Van Vorst is a lovely little park in Downtown JC. It's landscaped just beautifully. They have some nice little dog runs. They also show outdoor movies when the weather is nice, and host farmers markets as well. It has some of the nicest homes in the city surrounding it as well. It's a nice place to take a stroll, or sit on a bench to read/relax.
google avatar

Sui B.

Yelp
Great little park that takes up a city block in the heart of downtown JC. The park is fully equipped with a dog run (small and large), gazebo, children's play ground, dog free grass, swings...etc. Unfortunately, also the homeless pay visits from time to time as well, spread eagle style on the park benches... The maintenance over this park has always been above par, I always see one or two guys working on trimming the flowers and other landscaping. My favorite is the farmer's market in the summer time, I always make sure to stop by and get a freshly squeezed lemonade!
google avatar

Helen Y.

Yelp
This little park has some of the prettiest landscaping I've ever seen, smartly mixing up different types of trees, shrubs and flowering plants to create plenty of interesting shapes and colors for the eyes. Some of the trees have houses for the numerous birds that provide the listener with beautiful and constant birdsong. I espied mourning doves and sparrows weaving in and out of the ground cover as they foraged for food and mates. Clever placement of benches ensures there is much shade, and in the center there is a large gazebo, I guess for the much mentioned community events that were Yelped by other reviews. I wasn't fortunate to chance upon one or the farmer's market. It's clean, well maintained, and even breezy in some parts. Delightfully, it is one of the shadiest parks I've ever been to. I could have spent a while in this park, just enjoying the birds singing. I only wish the park had a bathroom. A gem conveniently located to historic Jersey City.
google avatar

Cara D.

Yelp
Love this park! I am there everyday to walk my dog, as he won't "go" on the sidewalk. It's smaller than Hamilton Park, but way more "neighborhoody." Two dog runs, one for small dogs and one for big dogs. I love the events they have; every weekend there's at least a few vendors there, including a guy who sharpens knives and scissors and people selling doggy sweaters. The summer is great; the farmer's market on Saturdays is much better selection of veggies than the ones at grove st during the week. The outdoor movies in the park are fun for the whole family. The foliage in the park is lovely and it's all labeled, in case you want to bring your kids and teach them a thing or two. Occasional homeless person will hang out (there's a guy who sleeps in the gazebo in the winter) but they generally don't bother anyone.
google avatar

Yelp
This is an absolutely beautiful park. It's meticulously maintained and is a great place to bring lunch or just hang out any time of the day. Great for kids, dogs, couples, singles, walkers, people-watchers, coffee-sippers, plant-lovers, tree-huggers, or anyone needing a minute to stop and smell the roses. It gives you that good neighborhood-y kind of feeling!

Anais M.

Yelp
very beautiful place, with always blooming plants flowers and trees, very well maintained and lovely park, and best part of it dogs are allowed!
