London’s New Restaurant Openings - London - The Infatuation

"Sourdough institution E5 Bakehouse is opening at the V&A East Storehouse. We love the original London Fields location, so we’re excited to see them opening in Stratford’s new museum. The menu will change seasonally and include breakfast buns, roast chicken baguettes, pastries, blondies, and more." - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

A unique experience. It is amazing to get into a museum storehouse. Don't think of it as a visit to a museum, it is more about visiting a warehouse full of amazing pieces. Not much to read, not thematic displays, it is mostly about looking at objects on shelves. But there are a few amazing corners with some kind of museum intentions: A Frank Lloyd Wright designed office, a German kitchen of the 1920s, an amazingly decorated ceiling or the facade of a state building. It's worth a visit. The entrance is free, and no booking is required.

Absolutely amazing place! Innovative, daring and full of surprises. You have pieces side by side of a very different era. It really tickles your senses. There was a temple ceiling decorated in golden paint work and craftings. Everywhere you look is filled with surprises. Can’t wait till David Bowie Center is open in September. Need a few more visits to find my bearings…

It was my “Wow” moment for a cultural institution. No labels, no intrusive guide. Just walking in the stacks. Had I been aware, I would have pre ordered an item. This takes about two weeks so make sure you peruse the catalogue well before your visit. The cafe didn’t feel so great but I hadn’t come for tea. A great experience. Get there early to avoid queue

An excellent, unique idea and brilliant experience. The staff were very well informed, friendly and happy to help you learn more. Will definitely be back for the Order An Object experience and hope more museums around the world explore this idea of an open archive. We are very lucky that people can access this for free.

I love old furniture and warehouses so this museum was perfect for me. I loved the model kitchen and the history of Robin Hood housing estate. I came on Sunday around 12 and there was no waiting time. When I was leaving between 2 and 3 pm there was quite a queue outside and they were letting in people based on how many came out. There are lockers for any larger bags then A5 notebook. No food or fluids allowed, they checked my fanny pack when it was too small to carry even 0.5l bottle.

I loved touring the selection of history presented at the V&A East Storehouse, but what I'll always remember is how the Robinhood Gardens short film brought me to tears. I walked away understanding social housing from a perspective I'd never been exposed to. 10/10 would recommend spending part of your day here. Let me know what you discover!!

This building which opens today redefines what a museum can be. The space houses thousands of artifacts which belong to the V&A that are not currently on display there. Some of the objects are behind glass but the majority are fully out in the open. There are 4 floors which can be accessed by stairs or lift. You can also book an appointment to have a private viewing of any object . Entry is free.

I really enjoyed visiting this storehouse-style museum, it’s a unique and engaging space. It would have been even better, though, with a few more printed explanations alongside the exhibits to help visitors explore and understand the collection more easily!
