Stayed here twice in two different rooms. Really enjoyed both. Riverside room was spacious and comfortable. Zen room was compact but well equipped. The only problem was the poor position of the light switch on the headboard. Service great, staff remembered us. Location excellent - right in center of old town.

We had a 'Comfort' room. The bed was indeed very comfortable but could only be accessed from one side. The tiny room had a small bathroom with only a curtain for privacy and glass toilet walls. Weird! Clean room but sour milk left in fridge. |I suggest any couple will realy need one of the larger, more expensive rooms. |Breafast was excellent.|The reception on arrival was very poor indeed but the situation was rescued completely by the Australian lady at breakfast, her lady assistant and the new manager Juryj. He went above and beyond by taking us all the way to the Sixt care hire depot at the train station. He even carried most of our luggage for more than 800m. First class service which was such a contrast to our first impressions. Thank you, we will always be grateful as I am not sure we could have done it alone.

Picking a hotel on-line is always a risk. In this case, we couldn't have been happier with our choice. The hotel is centrally-located on the river in Old Town and we had a magnificent room over--looking the river and the activity along the river walk. We did not speak the language and needed to rely on hotel staff to take care of logistics. They were patient and very very helpful connecting us with transportation and other services. The restaurant is separate and yet they provide breakfast as well as wonderful options for dining inside and out. Their staff is first class. We were excited about spending a week in Slovenia and the hotel staff made a huge contribution to making it a wonderful experience.

This hotel is near the river and one of the few in the old town. The building is old and the decor is weird and outdated. There must be some nicer rooms but our rooms faced close by building walls. The rooms were dungeon like with weird textured walls and a fabric padded wall behind the bed. There was not a single hook to be found to hang your towel anywhere in the room or the bathroom. The bathroom door was clear so the people from the hall could see you on if you opened the door. The room was full of mirrors in weird places and on cabinets. The furniture was stained and tired looking. The TV guide was not available and showed wrong time (even though many channels including English channels were available). The bathroom was also a weird setup. The shower door does not close properly so lots of water on the floor after a shower. We booked through booking.com so maybe got a lower quality room. The rest of the hotel decorations were also “designer” type but very old looking and weird. Pluses- easy walking to most attractions; great location; many good restaurants nearby; decent breakfast (a la carte even if it’s included in your package). The rooftop pool was nice with great views but pretty small with a capacity of 8-10 people max in the pool area— maybe enough for this boutique hotel. You did have pigeons visiting the edge of the pool- although the hotel had installed wires to deter the pigeons, the pigeons clearly did not get the memo. Did not get to eat at their restaurant - understood that it used to be Michelin… Can’t recommend for the price. The town is small enough that any hotel is not that far from attractions.

Fantastic stay in the heart of the city! Everything close enough to walk to, beautiful views, funky hotel, spacious rooms and excellent restaurant! The staff were amazing and so helpful - highly recommend it!

The room has a nice bathroom but the remainder of the room was a bit tacky. This is the only hotel that I have ever stayed in where I have had to ask for a set of hand towels. They forgot to service our room 1 day. Reception and restaurant staff were quite good. To sum up I would not stay here again if visiting Ljubljana.

The Vander Urbani is in a great location along the river. Right outside are tons of restaurants. Our room was nice and breakfast was good. There is a small swimming pool on the roof. And also a free shuttle service to your car which has to be parked a few blocks away.

Great location, booked for a my BFF’s special birthday. Before arrival I emailed hotel telling this, so was disappointed to not even be offered a drink or her birthday not even acknowledged in any way. This hotel is part of the Design Hotels group, however it needs reviewing as not up to standard. We booked a Suite, but nothing special about it and no lounge area. It was just like a standard room. Pillows wafer thin, toiletries not replenished, the bath towels were replaced with hand towels on the 2nd day. The hotel in general was tired, upstairs roof terrace not setup for guest use. Broken tiles near lift and carpets dirty and stained. Laundry left out in the hallway near main lift for long periods time. Bar only open Friday and Saturday night and we didn’t even know it was there, would have used it on the Saturday night if we had known about it but instead had a drink in the restaurant and was made to feel unwelcome. Staff were unfriendly and uninterested. This hotel promised a lot but delivered nothing but a great location.
