Vango's Pizza & Cocktail Lounge

Vango’s feels like a classic American restaurant—carpeted, comfortable, and built for group dinners, game nights, and repeat visits. We came for dinner and had a great experience. The waffle fries and ranch are absolutely worth the hype—get them as a side or appetizer and thank yourself later. I had the Rudolfi Gyro, which was excellent, and the menu features a wide variety of gyro options if that’s your lane. Plenty of pizzas were flying out of the kitchen and all looked solid—definitely something I’d come back to try. Service was friendly and quick, and the restaurant has a good-sized bar and lots of TVs, so it’s a great place to post up and hang out. Would definitely return—if nothing else, for those waffle fries alone.

Wonderful food and service! We had such a great meal and were well taken care of by our server. The waffle fries are delicious, and so were the chicken fingers, fish fry and gyros.

Vango's is a decent little place to visit and eat at. Nothing fancy, just decent food for a decent price, service was good 👍🏾. I forget the lady who was our waitress, but She was kind, talkative, and suggestive, and she returned to the table asking about refills, now that's the type of service I tip for. Oh, she even took the time to observe my hat and thank me for my military 🪖 military service. It was Wednesday so one of the specials was the skewered chicken 🐔 with wild rice, and veggies. I was very happily surprised that the chicken was moist, and the gravy had a nice flavor, Ohhhh but those overcooked veggies. ( sometimes it can be hard to hold them ) unless they have gone passed the ⏰️ hold time and got soft. I may return for fish on Friday.

The food was great! Service was amazing, and the feel of the restaurant was perfect. The menu had so much variety and I wish I could have tried more food. We ordered a pizza as an appetizer and it was DELICIOUS! We also had two sandwiches which were also really great! Overall, 5 stars all together. Would visit again!

We go here or get takeout fairly often. The ambience is casually relaxed. I have never been unhappy with any of the menu items that I have chosen. I especially enjoy their house special pizza. You can tell the crust is hand tossed because it isn’t perfectly round. I also enjoy the nacho’s supreme, and of course, the famous waffle fries. Service personnel are people oriented and efficient. My only valid complaint is the capacity but more so the available parking. With good food and service they are often busy. you can call in for carry out and they will ask you for pertinent information (your name, and a vehicle description). They will tell you how long it’s going to take to prepare your order. When you arrive at the restaurant to pick up your order, there is specific parking at the rear wall for carry out customers. One of their wait staff will come out to your vehicle verify it’s you take your payment and give you your order.

We have had the best experiences with Vango’s! Never disappointed. They have the best fresh pizza and chicken wings. Very reasonable priced. 10/10 recommend!!! I want to mention they bring the food to your car, if you order takeout. Super easy and super good.

We went here our first night for pizza and salad and were so impressed we went back again the next evening! The pizza was phenomenal and the Greek salad was 10/10. The second night we added their famous waffle fries and ranch to our order and it was once again amazing!

Delicious turkey burger and waffle fries. Kids mac and cheese nice portion size. Mushroom and swiss burger was fantastic. Flavored lemonades were refreshing. Heard the pizza is the best in town for Marquette MI!!

So great to know Vango's is still going strong! I have memories of getting Greek Salads and other delicacies delivered to my dorms (Meyland and West Halls) in the '80s...an awesome intro to Greek food. Thanks, Vango's!

"Vango's is the home of the oldest pizza parlor in Marquette." After being out of the Marquette area for 30+ years, I was thrilled to see that Vango's was still open. It was a happy fun place when I was student at NMU and that hasn't changed. Smokin'Hubster and I stepped out for Friday lunch, thinking it couldn't be too busy since NMU was on holiday break. Whoops. It was busy but that didn't deter us. We found a parking space in the lot behind the restaurant (score!) and came in through the back entrance. We found seats at the bar and watched an amazing show of service. The food is great and always has been. It's a pizza place with a strong Greek game. The menu is huge and there's something for everyone. The bar is full service and we enjoyed some beer while studying the menu. Smokin'Hubster loves his fish and chips, while I was definitely feeling the Greek pull. I ordered the gyro with waffle fries. Meanwhile the servers were hustling in high gear, fielding bar orders, takeout / pickup orders, reservations, gift certificate sales and everything else in the restaurant. It was like a dance or maybe a drill team, with everyone covering each station and customer while being friendly and cheerful. We chatted with each person as their task permitted and even talked to a few people coming in to pick up food. It was like being a regular again after all this time. The food came VERY quickly. I was surprised and impressed, given how busy they were. Everything was delicious, the portions were generous and I was highly pleased with our experience. The food has always been good. The service was outstanding and I felt like a valued customer right through the lunch rush. You really need to stop by and experience Vango's.

Atmosphere: Large wrap around bar, outdoor seating, and quite a few tables inside too. The bathrooms were clean. The parking lot is a bit small so you might need to find street parking. It can get really loud in here FYI. Service: Friendly and helpful, you can expect a bit of a wait on Friday fish fry nights, if you don't get there early they will be out of fish. Food: Yum! They have such a wide variety of options to choose from....salads, pizza, sandwiches. They have the best waffle fries and ranch for miles and miles. Any time I am in the marquette area this is on my list of places to stop AND to recommend to anyone traveling here.

Now I only been once but this was definitely a top spot for me. I absolutely hog swaggled this pizza like no tomorrow. It was crisp with some soft fluffy cheese and great veggie toppings to make it feel good to eat. I shared the dessert with my esteemed friend and we had no issues with it. Tastes pretty darn good. I don't exactly remember the flavor A bit of a louder place for ambience and service was all good. Nothing too crazy there I would go again AND again

A local recommended this restaurant for pizza. I had the Greek pizza, which was full of spinach, onions and three cheeses. It was a fresh take on pizza. Very friendly place. Nice outdoor seating.

What a wonderful experience on a Tuesday. They were quite busy on Mexican Tuesday early. We had one order of gyros and the roast chicken and mashed potatoes, they were the real deal. The gravy was a little heavy but you can always ask for it on the side. The Greek salad was flavorful and crisp. It was plentiful. Karla was very attentive. The service was fast. We will return.

Ambiance was laid back. The service was nice. They were attentive. I ordered a personal 8" pizza w/ pepperoni and spinach. My brother ordered a small 10" pizza w/ pepperoni and mushrooms. We both agreed that the flavors were amazing and the crust was delectable. It was to the point that we asked what kind of oven they use for the pizza. Roller oven.

First timers in Marquette. Vango's is a nice place. Clean and friendly atmosphere. Menu has a variety of options. We had the Greek Chicken and a pepperoni and sausage pizza. Food was really good. Prices were also reasonable which is refreshing.

I love this place so much! The chicken lemon rice soup is delicious and their gyros are stacked! My favorite thing on the menu is the Cajun chicken sandwich with waffle fries. The waffle ranch is thick and full of flavor. Their pizzas are some of the best in town! The service is always great and attentive even if sitting at the bar where they're busy! The outdoor seating is great in the summer. One of my favorite little spots in town!

This restaurant came highly recommended by some friends who frequently travel to Marquette. We were in town setting up my son's dorm and getting him ready to begin football practice at NMU. The pizza was GREAT! There's no delivery, which is unusual for a college town, but the takeout process was unique. Pull up and park in front of the camera and magically your food appears out of the building. It was awesome. I'm always looking for a great Greek Restaurant and at the next football game, you can bet we're coming back to dine inside. AWESOME PIZZA!!

Four of us went here for dinner. The pizza was good. The Cobb salad was good. Unfortunately the two people that had gyros were very disappointed. The meat was dry and more like shoe leather than anything edible. It should never have been served. To their credit, they did give a replacement gyro which was somewhat better. The service was good. The ambience was acceptable.

Over rated food, mediocre at best. The last time we went there they (the lady cooking) wouldn't allow us to have 1/4 of the pizza without toppings. My 6 year old just wanted cheese. I offered to pay full price for the toppings, tip the cook and extra which shouldn't be necessary, she immediately said "the cook won't do that but I will go ask" came back and said no she won't do that. This isn't the first time they refused to allow the customer to change the order to their liking. Seriously tho how hard is it to not put toppings on 1/4 of the pizza? I will never be going there again or suggesting it as a place to go. There are 20 other restaurants that have better food and will be more than willing to modify your order in Marquette. Absolute garbage

I used to work here 40 years ago!! It was a great place to eat!! The service is always top notch and I just have an overall feeling of good from this establishment. This is coming from a multiple restaurant owner for the last 35 years!!

Delicious food & a good variety. My favorite is their Cudighi with the works. But, their Mexican Tuesday menu is delicious too!

The Pizza is the best I ever had in Michigan...better than anything around Detroit. A large with pepperoni, cudighi sausage and mild peppers is simply righteous !

Food was mediocre at best. Service was good. Just didn't fulfill what I expected. I heard great things but I had the gyro and it was just ok

All around excellent! Food is always dependably fresh and temperature correct. Wait staff are smiling and professional. We've never had bad service after many visits. Outdoor seating in warm months is relaxing and enjoyable. Plan to return often.

Chicken Parm was good but the waffles fries were better. Delightful! Service was great and atmosphere was very neat!

During the COVID-19 pandemic it's hard to find restaurants that are open or have availability. We were lucky and Vango's was able to seat us inside for some pretty delicious pizza. This is definitely a home town restaurant in Marquette. The waitress for extremely friendly and good at her job. We ordered pizza and were not disappointed at all. The crust and sauce were really good, the sausage on it was also delicious. The next time we are in Marquette we'd be happy to come back and get pizza from here. The beer selection also didn't disappoint! They did a great job at sanitizing and social distancing.

I wasn't expecting much for pizza in Marquette, MI. Turns out I should have. We started with a Greek salad with gyros. The salad itself was excellent and I loved the fresh chunks of feta cheese. The gyro meat was ordinary and not nearly as good as what you can get downstate. Then came the pizza. Yum. Actually really tasty. Thin crust and baked perfectly. Very happy that this was opened tonight when so much was closed on the 4th of July.

First and last time coming here. First mistake was ordering a chimichanga on taco Tuesday at a pizza joint. It came extra chewy with a side of overcooked flour tortilla. All the manager could say was I'm sorry. She did absolutely nothing to try and remedy the situation. She said they made a lot of chimichangas tonight and had no complaints. That was her response no how can I make this a better experience or let us remake it, nothing. So steer clear from this place. Worst customer service experience. If I could give this place zero stars I would. The food was straight trash.

Pizza pizza pizza! Marquette staple for sure. Imo it's the best pizza in town. I've been eating here for over 40yrs.

Love most of there Greek food items. Greek salads A+. Tried the Greek Pizza this time very good!

Ordered Gyro, meat was dry and crispy, poorly put together. A Waitress running vacuum at our table while we were eating. Tips are split which I think is wrong. Our waitress was polite and efficient. I was not impressed with overall service and environment. Will look elsewhere for a favorite restaurant.

Vango's is one of my go-tos for Marquette. They have great gyros and their waffle fries are the best. They know how to make a good waffle fry basket and the ranch is superb. Whether you are a UP native or traveling to the area, this is a spot to stop.

Went there after a horrible experience at another establishment. Got seated immediately and food came quick. The House pizza was the delicious. Great flavors and super crispy crust. House salad was also great. Highly recommended.

Best pizza around and one of the best I have ever eaten. Not much to say that hasn't already been said. Crust, sauce, cheese, meats (especially cudigihi sausage) are fantastic. The part I like is how they slice the pizza in small slices and not huge pieces like the chain pizza places. This makes it great if you have kids and are always wasting pizza. Update: Family and I made a winter vacation adventure to Marquette. First place we stopped was Vangos. I spent 3 weeks dreaming about this house special pizza with their cudigihi sausage. Of course they didn't disappoint!!!!!

We ordered the fish fry (cod) and a small pizza for the two of us. He eats a ton, and it was still the perfect amount of food. We had planned on just getting pizza but we kept seeing plate after plate of the cod zipping past so we decided to do the split. The mushrooms were canned on the pizza. We upgraded to waffle fries (there is an upcharge) and the waffle fries were great. We finished the meal by splitting a piece of the Death by Chocolate Cake. It was only $3.50 and definitely enough for two. Great place. Will go back next time we are in Marquette!

Not the the cleanest but the food is usually good. We made a mistake by ordering takeout on a Sunday evening. Had we dined in I would have sent the steak sandwich back. The steak was rancid and bread was dried out. I assume this is because they are closed on Mondays and they use up what they have left before reopening on Tuesday. The Chicken Avgolemono soup is fantastic, but If your dining late they water it down rather than telling you they are out.

Vangos is a Marquette staple. Always great Greek and American food. Fast and friendly family vibe. Their employees are the best. My children's first choice for dine out... Cudighi with the works (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/) is fantastic. Greek pizza and Greek salad is mouth watering.. homemade soups are my families favorite takeout during a work week.. I get hungry thinking about their waffle fries and heavy ranch. Go there and you won't be disappointed.

The pizza was really good and they whole staff worked collectively to keep tables clean and cleared so folks weren't waiting to be seated forever. Their service was fast although they were super busy.

Was told by friends that I had to come here for the waffle fries and pizza.. so I did and I was disappointed. The waffle fries were really burnt and I've had better pizza.. like Digiorno's. I did get dessert in hope to wash some flavors out of my mouth.. I got the strawberry cheesecake. The cheesecake was great.. not sure if they make it in house or not but hey who cares? The place was busy, the staff was rude.. so no return visit for me man.

Thank you to the gentleman who treated us to dinner on 7/24/20!!! During our one week trip to Marquette last week, we ate at Vango's three times! On our last night the waitress told us that a gentleman at the bar paid our tab. He apparently had left so we were unable to thank him. So thank you! What a wonderful thing to do during this crazy time. It was a very emotional moment. Anyway...the food is great...we had gyros ( I especially appreciated the veggie option), Cudighi with the works, Greek salads, burgers, pizza and the delish waffle fries. Friendly and attentive service. You won't be disappointed!

I grew up on Vango's pizza. I was in high school when Clark Lambros opened Vango's. It was the best pizza in Marquette BY FAR. This evening (10/16/19) my wife and I were in Marquette for a quick trip from Connecticut to see my mother. We got a large pepperoni and mushroom pizza (to go) for dinner. Clark must be spinning in his grave! The pizza was "not bad" by Connecticut standards, but certainly not exceptional. This "Large" pizza was the size of a Connecticut "Medium" pizza, but cost the same as a "Large" back home. Overall Rating: Disappointing.

Even though I'm not a true Yooper by birth, I still do spend much time in the beautiful Northwoods....ever since the '60's. \o/ Often trips to MQT from our cabin, for groceries and Vango's. Always love coming here, fast, prompt service with a smile. We come for the pizza! Always fresh, crispy with ample toppings. Living in the Chicago "burbs", we know pizza and Vango's is really good when we need our pizza fix when up north. Nice, clean, lively atmosphere, fun place to grab a sandwich, pizza and beer. Parking lot isn't huge behind the place, sometimes you need to park on a adjoining street or along 3rd.

Handling COVID well! I suggest the Death By Chocolate cake. Greek salad was on par. Pizza crust is a good hand tossed crowd pleaser. Waffle fries are a good starting point. Bathrooms were clean. Staff was capable, calm, and friendly.

Saw the photo of the pizza and is was exactly the same. Greek pizza with added gyro meat and sausage. The salads were very good too.

This place is a solid three stars. It's always nice to visit local businesses, and Vango's is a Marquette staple. Going to NMU for three years, I've had my fair share of waffle fries. Their pizza is good, their chili is also okay (a bit sweet for my taste - but perfect when you throw waffle fries on top)! Their Greek dishes are some of the better entrees on the menu. The aforementioned waffle fries are served perfectly crispy with a delicious side of ranch, although they are not made in house. I've been here a few times with large groups and have always been accommodated well, I would recommend this place for large groups, although it can get busy. The service here has always been good, the last time that we were here Amanda and Lynn were our servers, and Lynn was fantastic! This place may be a solid three, but it's great to support a local business, I would recommend Vango's for sure if you're in Marquette.

The customer service was excellent! Friendly and fast. No waiting. Very attentive. The fish fry was GOOD. Great family dining!!!!!
