"Vaquero Taquero has some of my favorite breakfast tacos in Austin, for one main reason: that cheese. The tacos are big and filling, both the flour and corn tortillas are well-made, and the melty, crispy costra de queso (griddled cheese) puts them on another level. These are a great way to recover after a night of one too many. There’s a second location in downtown Austin. Takeout orders can be placed over the phone, in person, or online; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in areas. —Erin Russell" - Nadia Chaudhury, Erin Russell

Some of the best tacos in Austin hands down. Their corn tortillas are pressed and made fresh for each taco. Try the bistec or the al pastor. The taco in the photo with cheese is considered a quesadilla there but it’s really a gringa taco (al pastor with fried cheese on the tortilla).

Best taco truck in the area! They know how to pack tons of flavor into their tacos and their tortillas are freshly homemade. Sooooo good. BYOD. You can grab alcohol from the convenience store on the lot. Slight discount on taco Tuesday. Try the quesadilla taco though. Worth the little extra. RGV proud!

Quesadillas to die for... Let's get this out of the way - these quesadillas are extra-ordinarily good, and quite different from the ones you've probably had. They toss cheese on the griddle, and a tortilla on top. As a result, it's the quesadilla ends up with a (awesome!) tortilla on one side, and (even more awesome!) crusty grilled cheese on the other side, with the inside filled with happy happy gooey cheese. And any other stuff you want, mind you The tacos al pastor are the other "go-to" thing here, and they're actually stellar too. Not as stellar as the quesadillas, but still pretty f**king stellar. Get thee to this taco truck. It's worth the while, and it'll leave you wanting to come back the next day, and the day after that for more! Note: Each taco/quesadilla is fairly large. Be warned! (as in 2 of them should fill you up)

Vaquero is located behind a small gas station on Duval. Equipped with a few outdoor benches and chairs, but make sure you either byob or stop at the gas station because they’re unable to sell beverages to wash down your taco. The tacos are pretty good. I will say that I appreciate the handmade tortillas. Also, there is a nice balance of heat and flavor with each bite. No need for extra salsa, the taco has plenty of flavor. The quesadilla is essentially a larger taco with what seems like a signature piece of burnt cheese?! Overall, Vaquero is a great stop and go taco joint with some of the tastiest Al Pastor and Nopales in The ATX.

Worth the hype and drive! Handmade corn tortillas were stupid good. Pastor and bistec tacos were delicious. Excited for the brick and mortar to open!

Best tacos in Austin. Hands down. I had to call my grandmother and tell her I found a taco that would give hers a run for her money. I also had the chance to speak with one of the owners, Miguel, and he is passionate guy with super high integrity. These are what tacos are supposed to taste like. The best ingredients and even better flavor.

The staff was very friendly and east to talk to. The tacos were very good! I'm not usually a fan of Cilantro but it was enjoyable. I got the Biscet taco with everything on it and it had a wide range of flavors. Lots of pepper, but I did not find it to be over powering. Will come again!
