Excellent brewery! I had the Hefeweizen (not pictured), Mexican lager, and DIPA while I was here. This place is very white color-wise with regards to the walls yet very colorful otherwise and I enjoyed seeing all the Pride flag representation. The Hefeweizen was top notch and I debated ordering that all three times it was so good. Every beer style is above average and there’s plenty of styles for everyone to try. I came here during peak hours and street parking was a bit difficult as I had to drive around a few times until I found a spot. Overall though this is one of the best breweries in RVA, and definitely worth a stop.

Accessible parking for Vasen was a challenge. I had to park on the street a block from the entrance. The ramp into the brewery was minimally compliant and very steep. Once I was in the building, everything was accessible. The bathrooms were open and clean. The bar and seating areas were completely accessible. There are no gluten fee options for having a drink, but the food trucks that visit may have GF options.

Amazing brewery! I’ve been wanting to come here for years. We were finally in town for a wedding and had to stop by. Large tap room with plenty of seating. We visited on a Friday evening and it was crowded. Luckily, there is plenty of outside seating with large picnic tables with propane heated fire! Even though it was February and windy, we were quite warm. Bartenders were friendly and would talk to us despite being busy. They had at least four bartenders working which helped the long line go quickly. Big to go cooler, lots of merch as well.

Good place to throw a couple of cold ones back. They have a good selection of brews available. There's something there for everyone. The atmosphere is vibrant. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and they usually have a food truck outside.

Stopped here after making our way through Scott’s addition area. Great outdoor benches and a smaller capable inside for seating. The staff were super friendly and the brews were honestly some of the best in the area if not thee best. Group favorites include the Radapils, Golden Stout, the Velvet Walrus. Happy to check this place out again and again. Cheers!!!

My husband and I always have a great time at Väsen! Beers are consistent and delicious. Today, we tried the new reposado otter goses and they were phenomenal! Definitely one of the best breweries in RVA

One of the most beautiful breweries in Scott's Addition. Tried 2 stouts: mushroom and their staple. Solid good beers! They have a food truck so food offerings vary day to day.

I dig this brewery, their brand, environmental mission statement and was very much looking forward to drinking at the source. The fermented beverages did not disappoint to say the least. Cool space, plenty of room inside and out. Broad range of styles and as mentioned, excellent brews. Staff was very friendly. Would definitely recommend and return.

The first on our mission to complete the Richmond Beer Trail - and it was a goodie! The Triple Berry Sour packed a good punch and my partner loved her Rose Lager. Tables were ginormous - so we shared with someone and still had plenty of room to lay out a board game we brought with us. Honestly, this is a great spot to just hangout + drink - we didn't try the food, but looks like you can order from a little automated kiosk in the back to make it easy! Plenty of indoor seating with an accessible ramp and a few tables on the patio if the weather was better. Appreciated the bartenders recommendations on what to try as a first-timer. Overall great experience and one you must try if doing the trail! (Or just generally perusing the Scott's Addition brewery scene of course :))

Visiting my new favorite brewery Väsen Brewing Company while in Richmond's Scott's Addition area - funky, farmhouse, saison, Norse mythology imbued Valhalla-on-earth brewery!

Love this place and is my first stop when down here. Service is great and you can sit and relax with friends. Pet friendly for the 4 leg friends. Pretty much every time I'm here, there is a food truck outside to grab a bite to eat and enjoy one of their many beers on tap. Cheers!

This brewery is A+++ Lots of space to hang out and have a few of their tasty and well-crafted brews. I cannot recommend this brewery enough. Everything I've had there is delicious. Scott's Addition is the spot for breweries in Richmond and Väsen is one of the reasons why. Just go! It's required to go here if you are a beer lover in Richmond.

We stopped by Väsen on our Richmond adventure. Loved the Nordic theme. Large airy and open space, plenty of seating. The raspberry vanilla sour was amazing!! Hubby enjoyed the Yulebear Celebration Ale. I would love to go back and try some of their other beers.

My wife and I met some people here for a few beers before dinner. It is a very nicely done building with indoor and outdoor seating. It was a Friday night and fairly crowded. There was also a food truck there that evening. Parking is all street parking on surrounding streets which can be a challenge but it usually works out. If you like IPAs or DIPAs, this is a place for you to try.. a lot of the beers available were these. There was a lager, a peach and a wheat beer as well. IPAs are not my favorite but I did try the Mexican lager they had and it was good. This is a very nice place to go to!

Great beer options and really liked the option to do blends/mixes. All of the flavors were interesting so I'm sure you couldn't go wrong for a unique taste. The outside patio had several tables with mini fire pits for chilly fall days. When we got there there was a line that was going in multiple directions but everyone was nice about it. The beertenders didn't let the line distract from spending time with each individual and making recommendations. Even with the personalized service the line moved fast.

This brewery is so cool, I love the overall design and even though they have a small amount of beers to try I've never had a bad one. There's plenty of space inside and out to sit and one thing to note is they only do half pours on the weekends. So if you're looking for a flight, you better come down Monday through Friday. Of course, The Beertenders are always friendly. One of my favorites was the mango IPA (I forget the exact name) but if you're into mango and IPA's...award your taste buds with that!

We absolutely loved the vibe here and appreciated how family and dog-friendly Vasen is. They have great seating inside with picnic tables and high tops and outdoor seating as well. They have food trucks right outside that you can order from. The staff was very welcoming and on top of everything. They had great live music. The beers were also really good too - we especially enjoyed the Norse Double IPA and the Passionfruit Otter. We visited several breweries and enjoyed Vasen's scene the best. Laid back and fun!

Enjoyed a stout and it was delicious. Atmosphere is laid back and comfortable. Will be back!

Pet friendly and easy going plac. Some street parking. Unfortunately they didn't have flights at the time and were only doing half pours since the flight carriers needed washing. We ordered 3 half pours: The Guava Otter - Great Guava taste up front but still a pretty sour aftertaste but not bad. Radapils - Great Pilsner and super light and refreshing, I really enjoyed this. It is easy to drink and quite tasty. The Velvet Walrus - I was really excited for this one as it was a rum barrel aged with Toasted coconut but it was so incredibly heavy and a strong sweet taste at the end. I didn't quite get the coconut though. Good but definitely more a sipping beer. Food truck out front but I love the indoor and outdoor set up for seating.

Vasen has become a staple and my go to brewery in Scott's Addition! Although their draft list is a little smaller than some of the other breweries around, they always have a good variety of many different types of beer and they taste great. Everyone who works at Vasen is very kind and friendly. The space itself is really cool and has indoor and outdoor seating and a very funky vibe. They have events and food trucks throughout the week as well.

Väsen Brewing Company is one of the many breweries in Scott's Addition. My housemate and I went on a Saturday night around 8pma and got an outdoor picnic table no trouble. It came with a little fire pit in the middle keeping us warm as we sipped on our beers. The service was excellent- quick, friendly and helpful. Using a QR code, you pull up the menu on your phone, but cannot order from your phone. Wait until a server stops by your table to get your beers. The menu is large and comes with sour ale. I ordered the mango passionfruit sour and really enjoyed it. It wasn't too sweet and more on the sour side. Price point is fair. If you're okay with safe distance indoor seating, the indoor space is HUGE.

I always enjoy coming here. I love the Nordic influence on beer names and beer recipes, as well as the decor. Parking is a bit of a challenge but it is like that got most breweries in this same area. I was there fur the grand opening a few years ago. I hope they keep the Nordic influence on decor and beers!

Been here a few times and service has gotten progressively worse. First off, the opening time listed on the door isn't accurate. We went back several times after "opening time" and visiting the coffee shop and grocery next door. Despite several people pulling on a locked door, the staff inside did nothing but continue socializing. When we returned about an hour later, we grabbed our usuals and were saddened by the pour (almost 50% head) and the glass still had lipstick smudges. This is a place where they don't answer product questions and push you through the line to get to the next person. Management should do better.

I've been here when they first opened when I was living in Scott's addition, and now coming back years later I am blown away with how Vasen has grown and maintained that something special factor! The beer is delicious and a big variety! The set up is great both indoors and outdoors! You can partake in their awesome food truck selection or order to go from Stella's next door and enjoy a Vasen beer! We went on Trivia night which was super fun! I can't wait to go back and enjoy it all! Thank you Vasen!

Awesome beer but subpar service. There is supposed to be service that comes to your table because COVID but we had to go up and order as our server was always on his phone up front. I had the berry sour which was delicious. Wish they had flights as an option to try a bunch. I also tried the nitro cold brew coffee which was so smooth. There is inside and outdoor seating with a cool outdoorsy vibe. Outdoor tables have a fire feature to keep you warm.

Super cool brewery and close distance to other local breweries. We are on our 2nd day of self led brewery tour. Sours and gose are great. Cool merch too.

Great space and solid beer, especially as of late. The quality of the IPAs and DIPAs have risen quite a bit in recent months. The saisons are solid and a fun option. ***I was quite disappointed in the service I had today. See picture for indicated asshole employee. The staff has always been polite and respectful, until today. I feel compelled to share that this particular staff member was a rude asshole. I approached and asked, "hey how's it going"? His response was a quick, "what beer do you want?" That's fine, I can handle that. The kicker is, when I was waiting for my beer to be served he says, "can you maybe move over so I can take the next persons order?" Jesus dude, I don't need you to be my friend, but be polite. You represent a brand and you are a poor representation, asshole. I'm a fan of this spot and visit often, but imagine if I was a first timer?! What an impression you would leave.

Vasen represents the best brewery I've visited in a neighborhood with more breweries than some cities have. The beers here range from hazy, juicy IPAs, clean American pales, funky farmhouse styles, and fruity sours. Prices are reasonable for pints and the beers are served at an appropriate temperature, ie not ice cold but well chilled. The Scott's Addition staple boasts a sizeable patio and a respectable amount of indoor seating. On a recent rainy day visit, my wife, brother in law, and I sat inside and dug the bright, outdoorsy vibe of the space. Because it was raining, the taproom felt a bit crowded and table space was slightly difficult to come by, but we nonetheless enjoyed our time there. Parking is all street and relatively easy to come by. There is usually a food truck parked directly in front of the brewery if you get hungry.

Vasen Brewing Company is a brewery with a spacious taproom. They had about 19 beers on tap. We were surprised that they didn't offer tasting flights on Saturday's. My boyfriend enjoyed a pint of Rauchbier and a pint of Double IPA. He liked the smoky cedar taste of the Rauchbier and the tropical flavors of the Double IPA. I enjoyed 6oz pours of the Wanderlust 28 Wild Sour Blend and Pineapple Upside Down Sour. The Wanderlust 28 Sour Blend was light, fruity, and funky. The Pineapple Upside Down Sour was full, cakey, fruity, and tart.

Great atmosphere. Very pet friendly, and I loved SpongeBob playing on the projector for the kids (or adults... I got sucked in too).

Super nice brewery nestled in the heart of Scott's Addition. Large selection of beer (mostly IPAs) and a huge outdoor seating area. I ordered the Hefeweizen and the Schwarzbier and both were terrific. Plenty of outdoor shade for the hot summer days, great open space indoors and really friendly staff ready to serve you. Highly recommend it if you're in town.

My husband and I checked this place out on a Thursday afternoon and had a fun time. We sat inside, outdoor seating is also available. We tried the Norse Double IPA, Triple Peach Saison and Windhook IPA. The favorite was the Norse. I wish that I could have ordered a flight to try more of their beers though. In the end, the space was cool and the beer was good. If you are visiting RVA, Väsen should definitely be on your list to try.

My favorite brewery in RVA. Love all of their sours and goses. Plus they have a fun bingo night during the week. A great, relaxing space. You can snag food from next door or they usually have a food truck out front. Their tables outside have little fire centerpieces to stay warm during the colder months. Brewery is open and "nature-like". Check it out! Staff is the bomb!

This place is AWESOME! You can see into the back where they have all the beer fermenters! We ordered a flight and got their sours and a hefeweizen! We loved most of them, and would definitely come back! We loved how big and open it all was! Great service too! The flight we got in order of most liked to least liked: 1) Hefeweizen - Wheat 2) The Strawberry Rhubarb Otter - Sour 3) Pineapple Upside Down - Sour 4) Wanderlust 28: Wild Sour Blend - Wile Ale

Out of all the breweries we tried out during a Richmond trip, we liked Vasen the best! The design and decor of the space was neat, and their staff provided great, friendly service (loved our time with Eric)!! Beers also tasted great! We had four smaller pours and liked them all~ would totally go back to try more beers. There are several tables and whiskey barrel tables for indoor seating, as well as several picnic tables outside on their front patio. I wouldn't recommend the barrel tables unless you're planning on standing around it, because the stools are too high to comfortably sit in compared to the height of the table.

This place is great! Love the vibe. The brews are great, and it's very spacious. Cozy seating without being overly loud even when it's full. Basically, I don't have to yell to have a conversation and that's a win to me. A lot of the beers are sours, which is perfect for me. Has a natural, outdoorsy look and I like it. Couches, Stone benches, Hugh ceilings, and a nice view of the brew house. This place is a must stop.

Third update. Back up to four stars! I'd say Vasen is in my top seven for breweries in the Richmond area. If you're stopping by Veil or one of the other breweries/ciders/meaderies/distilleries in Scott's Addition, it's easy to walk over to Vasen too. I still don't really visit as my primary destination, but it's a good stop nonetheless. I feel like both the beers and the service have improved since my last review about a year ago. They have ordering lines, which seem to help the flow of customers, and they consistently offer half pours now. Flights are big and are available during the week only, but I no longer have issues when requesting tastes prior to purchase. It's still quite busy inside, which is good for them, but not overwhelmingly so. I was last there a week ago on Saturday and there was plenty of room to move around inside and our group easily grabbed a table. I'd also like to compliment their bathrooms, as they're consistently clean. Back on the beer for one more note: I would like to see more variety. They're supposed to have a sour-focus, but I still prefer TCB or Veil over them. I've found many of the goses to be just average, and I feel like they can do better and branch out into different sour styles. I hope they'll experiment more as they evolve as a brewery.

Had our corporate meeting at Vasen brewing. The staff went above and beyond. They were friendly and helpful. The barrel room was the perfect spot for our meeting. My team enjoyed beers on the patio afterwards. I highly recommend you check this place out.

I ordered to go because it was packed and raining outside. They have a fridge right at the front which made it easy to pick beers to go. I'm more of a sour fan, so I was glad they have a decent selection! I got the double berry, cherry lime, and paradise. The double berry was a bit heavy for my taste, but I enjoyed the other 2. My favorite has to be the cherry lime.

Vasen is one of the nice brewery to come back again. I really like a beer that they had that evening (not a cidery, but a champagne taste to it). Please bear with me since I was not the one that ordered the drinks. There's plenty of space (depending what time you get there). We got great parking and a table at one of their huge wooden "picnic" tables. Enough room to bring my little one as well. DankEats food truck was there that evening, so we grab some of their pita plates to eat with the beers (wonderful pairing)! I'm not sure if they do it every Friday evening, but it was Open Mic Night where some of RVA (new) musicians come out and play. It can be definitely loud for babies, but we were able to stay due to our baby headphones that we got for our little man to keep on. It startled him when the bands were testing out their drumset. Overall, fun experience, clean place, friendly staffs, great beers and food trucks, and a fun night for some music in the city. I see myself coming back here again!

I like this place. Staff is always happy to explain what they have on tap. Comfortable indoor and outdoor seating. Probably the only brewery in Richmond with such a wide range of different brews.

Such a cool place! Beer, plants, awesome (huge) patio...what else do you need?! I love the vibes of this place! By far my favorite brewery so far in RVA. Cloud thief was a great hazy IPA! Even their stickers are super cool! Staff was great too.

We stopped in Väsen brewing on our recent trip to Richmond. It was our second of 3 breweries that we visited I'm glad we made a stop. The space is fairly large with plenty of seating inside and out. It's light and bright with lots of windows for natural light. They make a variety of styles of beer. We each ordered a flight so we could try 8 different beers total. A flight comes with 4 beers. The beers were good and the flight was decently priced. My husband bought some cans to bring home too. Might as well keep the party going! They have a food truck on site- it was pizza the day we visited and the pizza was also good. Staff was friendly and helpful. They're also dog friendly and there were plenty of pups to say hi to. Great spot in Scott's Addition and worth a visit.

I love this place! Outdoor seating is amazing with cute fire decor stuff lol and inside is so pretty! Everyone is so friendly. I'm basic so the Hef is my favorite. My boyfriend doesn't drink but he said the kombucha is good if that's your thing!! So dog friendly also (outside only). Such a good vibe and ambiance for getting together with friends to chat and such

Very happy with my first visit to this recently opened gem in Scott's Addition. Very nice tasting room, with a cool vibe. We came in on a Saturday afternoon, and while they were busy - the staff kept up well without making people wait a long time to get a beer. It was a little loud for normal volume conversation, but that's to be expected. My only gripe is that they don't serve flights. If and when they start I'll be changing my review to 5 stars!

The tasting room is very industrial and clean. The space would be great for parties and groups. The beer is interesting, I really enjoyed the wheat beer. It was $5 for a pour. I tried several other ones and they were ok. The orange and raspberry beers do taste like orange and raspberry. They have a projector that plays tv on the wall. They also have several board games that you can play while you drink. There is NO food. So eventually we left to go get some. Eat before you go.

I'll start off by saying Väsen Brewing Company has awesome beer options!! I had more Sours than anything and they were very tasty. Väsen also carries IPAs, Hefeweizen etc etc etc. Väsen's taproom is stunning, with tall ceilings and 20 something taps in this beautiful building. We were here for an Instagram event and got to walk around some. The staff here were extremely fun and definitely knew their beers. The exterior of the building is also nice. Plenty of seating on warm days and "well-behaved dogs are allowed on the patio".

Lovely brewery in the Scott's Addition district of Richmond. Great collection of IPA's, stouts and sours to name a few. Frozen Sun and Hyperborean Galaxy (IPA and Double IPA) were my favorites.They also have new releases throughout the year, so that helps to make each experience unique! Food options come from the grocery store next door which is a necessity if you're hanging out at a brewery for a while. They have a kiosk with a curated list of items you can choose from, but if they don't have what you're looking for, you can always walk next door and choose something for yourself! Vasen also has live music and frequent events, so it's easy to have a great time here. I'd recommend checking their website so that you know what to expect as some events can get busy!

Good beer but the staff seems a little stressed and surly. Don't know what that's about. Anyway, we were in the area and found this new brewery in the area and decided to give it a try. The decor is very Scandinavian but the beer more German. I had the Raspberry beer and my husband had a smoked ale. Both were very good. Saw the staff imbibing too so you know the beer is good. Would be higher on my ratings if the staff were more friendly. No one wants to deal with a mean bartender.

Sarah and I came here for their GRAND OPENING. At the time of this review Väsen Brewing Company is the newest kid on the block. It seems the entire Scott's Addition area of Richmond is turning into one giant hub of Craft Beer taprooms. This is a good thing! We lined up and had to wait since they had reached capacity for the building. After maybe a two minute wait the three of us were led inside. Väsen doesn't use a chalk board but rather a lovely wooden board for their drink menu. They only had three beers on tap for their Grand Opening. - American Pale Saison - Passion Fruit Saison - Smoked Farmhouse I went for the Passion Fruit Saison which was quite vibrant and tasty. Sarah & Caitlyn honed in on the American Pale Saison and they enjoyed it. The roar in this place was deafening and I know that's only because it was the grand opening. It was really cool to be part of it all. We even saw news cameras and lots of people taking photographs. I look forward to their new beers and giving The Veil a run for its money.
