Traveling from Florida! A ton of variety from board games to table top RPGs and Collectibles galore! I usually don’t see much Godzilla stuff out in the wild but I’m glad to say I found a ton here at Vault of Midnight!!!

Google
Lovely, well organized store with friendly staff. Comics, anime, and games. It's definitely a great place to browse games. I appreciate that they put staff recommendations on games, too.

I wish I knew this store was here years ago! Grat section of collectibles and board games. I wish there was more Pokemon, as my kids are just beginning to collect! We will be back!

I am super thankful for the space and quality that vault of midnight provides. They always have really neat issues picked out with cool stories that publishers are working on. And always have a super friendly staff that is always willing to help whether in person or on the phone. I love the cleanliness and feel that they provide in contrast to an old school comic book store. You might not find dollar comics there, or a gigantic backlog of old pieces, but I can promise you I’ve seen more unique stories on their shelves than your typical, comic bookstore.

Located downtown, this store is filled with comic books, board games, toys, and snacks. It stays open later making it a fun stop after dinner nearby. We found the board games along the back wall and they are organized in alphabetical order.

I was excited to stumble across this place while walking the city streets. I was visiting grand rapids on business and wish I had more time to explore what this place had to offer. My merchandise bag sparked numerous conversations.. both from locals and business associates. Thank you for the interesting souvenirs!

Google
A wonderful comic book store with a great selection of comic books, graphic novels and manga. You can also find trinkets, memorabilia, boardgames and art. I enjoy reading the staff reviews and their up-to-date stock.

Google
Friendly and helpful staff! The best place to find anything comic book related and a great place to find fun games and toys too.

Yelp
I truly loved going out with my wife and stepping in to check out this cool, unique little comic shop right off of Rosa parks circle. There were wonderful staff members and cute little reading suggestion cards posted all throughout the store. I also didn't end up checking online before we went in and it just so happened to be a day they were handing out 5 free comics per person! I mean just how cool and generous an event to have, I will truly be coming back here in the near future and if you like comics and board games and want great deals as well, this might just be the spot for you.

Yelp
Phenomenal comic book & gaming store. Everything is beautifully presented, well kept, and priced appropriately. The staff is exceptional and always helpful, and I've received quality recommendations often. My only criticism is that this is very much a board games and trade paperback store. They have weekly comics, but their selection is smaller than most comics book stores and they've got a very limited number of back issues. That's probably a good thing, if we're honest, as so many stores fill half their walkable spaces with musty boxes of books most people aren't interested in. The good news, if you're here for books, is they'll special order pretty much anything you need. So even if they don't have the book on the shelf, you can get it here.

Yelp
Hear me out, this is a very mid comic book store. Their flagship store in Ann Arbor is the keeper of the two. For starters, the parking situation is rough. Street parking however, that quickly goes away. I ended up parking at a local parking garage (about $2 per 30min). The store is very clean and organized. There are several walls full of newer comics. That's great and fantastic. The rest of the floor space is like a maze of sorts that has bookshelf after bookshelf of graphic novels. They are all in alphabetical order and NOT by publisher. The only thing that was missing that greatly reduced my stars were the lack of back issues and a $1 bin. MAYBE just MAYBE they had it, however, it was not clearly mark. Ann Arbor is definitely the superior of the two locations. Will more than likely not be returning.

Yelp
If you like comic books, graphic novels, games or unique items, this your place. I liked the puzzle section offering things like dinosaurs and cartoon figures. They also have books on classic cartoon characters like Donald Duck and others.

Jason G.

Yelp
No really a comic reader any more but I will occasionally look for graphic novel omnibus collections of works I remember. I have to say this place has a better collection of said works than anyplace I have yet been to. It mainly specializes in games and graphic novels but there is a pretty good collection of older and newer works as well. Best comic store I've been in in a long time!

Rohan D.

Yelp
Excellent selection of board games, manga, anime, comic books, graphic novels, playing cards, and Japanese pop cultural items. Really cool dice. Workers are both helpful and full of appropriate and pertinent esoteric knowledge. Note that my cats would not let me put the Japanese cat hats I got from here on their ungrateful little heads, but I should have known that would happen.

Joel R.

Yelp
Well organized, wonderful combination of trades, new comics and even board games! Pricing is spot on. Not much for older comics and back stock, but if given enough time they are willing to hunt down what you need. Magic the gathering prices are high, but that's not what you're generally there to pick up. Friendly customer service and great atmosphere. If you're in town definitely worth it.

Ryu O.

Yelp
I've been stopping in here every time I've been downtown since they opened. Best selection of comics in town and the best selection of manga if you're looking for some things that Barnes and noble dosent carry. Great art book and graphic novel selection as well! Nice employees and organized store I've never had a bad experience here. They have some fun collectibles in the front as well Pokémon plushies, blind box figures and other cool stuff you're not really gonna find anywhere else in town.

David F.

Yelp
Vault of Midnight, much less cryptic and creepy than their name may suggest, is a Michigan-based company that sells comics, board games, collectibles, role playing games, and much more... you can be sure that such an establishment is high on my list! The staff are super friendly and helpful and they always throw such fun celebrations such as the free comic book day extravaganza. I also really appreciate how they highlight local creators of games, RPGs and comics - getting me hooked on a local game company that I was unaware of until coming here. Whenever I am downtown, I always make an effort to visit my favorite shop around.

Jimmy B.

Yelp
Great store! Got treated like a king the first visit....a bother the second. Work on that, realize your business supplies optional items, and customers don't NEED to enter. They choose to.

Arah K.

Yelp
Such a fun comic book shop with a range of comics, graphic novels, manga, and tabletop gaming paraphernalia. I had to grab some manwha and DnD dice! Would definitely recommend stopping here if you are downtown.

Yelp
VAULT of MIDNIGHT is the coolest comic book shop in GR! We aren't kidding...like at all. But they don't just carry an amazing selection comics and graphic novels. They also have board games, t-shirts, collectibles and figurines, and more! ⁣ ⁣ The staff is so incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, you'll want to come back over and over again just to hear their insightful recommendations. ⁣ ⁣ Got books? They'll even buy your comic books from you, just visit their website to learn more! ⁣ ⁣ Or maybe you want to join their book of the month club? Book club meetings are streamed on the last Sunday of every month on the Vault of Midnight YouTube channel! ⁣

Misti M.

Yelp
I honestly wish I could rate this a 3.5 but alas, here I am. I appreciate that they are enforcing masks. What I really liked about this store is: I never felt overwhelmed. Comic book stores can be overwhelming if you're not exactly sure what you are looking for. I want to be able to browse and see what catches my eye, and the organization and display of their comic books and graphic novels was really helpful to me. They had clear labeling and grouped their material into logical areas. It's a little small and I imagine it can get cramped when it is busy. The people working there were friendly.

Kyle V.

Yelp
While I'm not into comic books, we stopped in for some party adult games. The staff was very inviting and friendly, which was great. This store is much bigger than it looks and that quickly jump on any opportunity to help you find something. Their game selection is large and we were able to find a couple things we wanted! We will definitely be back.

Katy C.

Yelp
Vault of Midnight is a great little store chock full of comic books, graphic novels, games, fun toys, great gift ideas, clothes, and more! The employees who work there are all super friendly and helpful and always have great recommendations. I have sent Vault of Midnight a few messages via their Facebook page asking if they have certain games or items and they are quick to respond and are super helpful; offering to take payment over the phone and / or hold items for me. They have the best selection of board games in the area. I'm not a huge comic book reader but their selection is also massive! I always find something new whenever I stop in.

Jonathan K.

Yelp
Cool set up. T-shirt selections are awesome. Mask requirements suck. Not sure if it's the shop or the city. Helpful staff. Above average comic book store.

Mirella R.

Yelp
I discovered this shop a few years ago when I was walking around after school (Central High). The staff are very welcoming and they have a good range of books. I did see some of my favorites such as soul eater, fairy tail, bones, etc. They also sell figures, board games, plushies and more. I have even come directly to this place to purchase my comic con tickets too! This place holds all sorts of events, even their free comic book day. I highly suggest coming to this place, especially walking around DT in the warmer months!

Amy G.

Yelp
Closet nerd here and this is my favorite place to get my fix! When entering the cobalt blue storefront you are greeted with floor to ceiling comics and graphic novels. Fantastic boardgames run along nearly one entire wall ranging from games you can play with the family and others you'd be better off saving for likeminded adults. It is a great shop for unique gifts for the fan in your life. I love the selection of figurines, plush, and even wearable paraphernalia. The staff are friendly, helpful, and insanely knowledgeable. I'm glad I'm in their system because they were able to look back at my previous purchases and inform me I had already purchased one volume of my go-to comic.

Ryan C.

Yelp
Drove up to check this place out and get lunch down the street. Glad lunch was good or it would have been a wasted trip. We bought three statues(one kotibukiya and two dc select). Got home and opened the boxes and the two dc select were not in the factory wrap, both were broken and one of the two had a different price tag on the base than they had on the box. Called them to ask what was up and they just gave us the "well we've got a 30 day return policy" Guess they don't need any of my business. I've passed this news and experience to my gaming group and my war game team, so we'll just let the cards fall where they may. As for my wife and I.... well I hope those statues are the last thing they have to sell to make their mortgage payment.

Parker B.

Yelp
Wow, what a place. I really enjoy the selection of Marvel that you have whether it's an Omnibus, Epic Collection, Marvel Masterworks or the original single issues, it is all good. I also really enjoy your memorabilia selection because it is never a bad idea to pick some up. I recommend going here if you are in downtown GR and you need something to do or you just haven't read anything in a while and want to get back into it.

Matt V.

Yelp
This is my favorite comic book store in town. The selection of new comics is huge. You won't find more graphic novels in one place in Grand Rapids then vault of midnight. And even though they don't have as many board games as many of the game stores around town, the selection of games that they have is incredible. They have a lot of games you won't find in any stores and I'm always finding new games that I've never heard of before on the shelves. The staff is extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful :)

Joel M.

Yelp
As an avid fan of all things geek, I have visited comic shops all over the country - and what do you know, the best one I have ever been to is right in my own hometown. Vault of Midnight has a huge selection of comics, graphic novels, games, action figures, dice - pretty much anything geek you can think of. They have friendly people working there who really know their stuff, and are excellent at giving recommendations for your next favorite thing you never knew existed, should you ask. If you want to keep up on a comic series regularly, they will set you up with a running 'subscription' if you will, where you can have them set aside your regular series for you, and you also get a discount for doing so. Super helpful if you work late, and won't be able to get in until the good new releases are gone. Their events are top of the line, and they truly go all out to make their customers really enjoy their experience and they even do special things for kids. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars. If you haven't visited them yet, what is wrong with you?

Craig J.

Yelp
No two ways about it, this is the BEST comic book and board game store I have ever seen. The selection is awesome, the people are super cool and helpful, they work hard to make everyone feel welcome. The help will always help you find something you like, tell them what kind of books or movies you like and they are great at putting you with something you will enjoy.

Sydney G.

Yelp
my all time favorite comic store. lots of product and new product changing constantly. very friendly and enthusiastic staff as well

Mitchel H.

Yelp
I highly recommend this comic book shop it is the cream of the crop the best one around the town the prices are fair the only downside is sometimes the parking is hard to do it's downtown but it's well worth finding a spot to walk to this very beautiful and fantastic store

Josh H.

Yelp
Best Comic Shop in Grand Rapids. I'm a HUGE comic book and board game fan. This place has a great selection of both of these and the staff are very friendly and helpful if you want to find something or just need a recommendation. Nothing bad to say about these guys and if you read my other reviews you'll see that this is rare for me.

Tiffany W.

Yelp
The nerd in me, wait - I am a nerd or some level, loves this place. I could spend way more time than I actually allow myself to be in here because well, I would just be flat out broke. They have a HUGE selection of comics, graphic novels, games, collectors items, etc. Everything I have tried to look for, aside from super rare comics, they have had. They are happy to look anything up you may have questions about and I believe order something for you. The staff is super friendly. They are attentive, without hesitating to ask if you need help. I have talked with a few of them now, basically describing to them which comics I like what I like about them, then asking if they suggest some similar. They have done a great job and listening to what I like to match that with a new series. It is helpful to get on their mailing list to know what is coming out, as well as be a part of their subscriptions if you plan to stay on top of certain comics. You get a discount as a subscriber. They also have a punch card too that gives you some money off when you fill it up. Different denominations depending on how many stamps you acquire. This place has part of my heart!

Jason L.

Yelp
I've been to the Vault twice now in the past week, a park of working only a couple of blocks away. I have to say that this will be a regular occurrence for me. I haven't been to the Ann Arbor location, but have visited other shops in the GR location, the vault will now be my "go-to" stop. The store itself looks and feels great. The staff are knowledgeable and will offer personal suggestions if you are looking for advice. I received awesome service when setting up a comic order and will definitely be a repeat customer. It's great to have a shop like this in downtown GR.

Abby M.

Yelp
After calling to have a comic held, I arrived less than two hours later to be told that it was misplaced. As this was the last in stock and meant to be a special present, it guaranteed that this was the last visit I would make to this store. There are far too many independent comic book stores in GR that are attentive to their customers and could use the support to deal with such incompetence.

Laura H.

Yelp
I love this place. Their staff members provide excellent customer service. I'm just getting into comics, and they have been welcoming and friendly - not condescending. There are a lot of things I don't know about - for example, I didn't know what a pull list was. (It's kind of like a magazine subscription - you tell them what you want, and they'll set aside new issues for you as they come in.) When I emailed them about it, they answered all my questions, and also told me about a discount you get on items on your pull list. They've also been wonderful with recommendations. I had a vague idea of what I liked and didn't like, and they made some great suggestions. I love their enthusiasm - you can tell they love comics, and their enthusiasm is infectious. I've heard some horror stories about how some comic book stores treat women, and I'm happy to say I haven't experienced that here at all.

James H.

Yelp
This is by far the best comic shop I've ever been to in the country. The staff is extremely knowledgeable on a variety of genres, with impeccable recommendations. I know many of my female friends ONLY go to vault because they feel uncomfortable dealing with shop employees with sexist views. I've been going there for a little while now on a biweekly basis, and my subscriptions are always ready for me. The shop itself is stylish, with comics, manga, collectables, and tons of board games. I could live here and never be bored. I have a great conversation with the employees there every visit, and the customer service is the main reason I chose to support this shop, as opposed to saving a little longer by going online.

Jeff F.

Yelp
Loved this store so much! Incredible collection of graphic novels, extensive game collection. The staff is the BEST part! I cannot wait to go back and get another recommendation that blows my frickin' mind. Thanks for opening this store.

Vivian K.

Yelp
I swear this place has a little bit of everything! Comic books, manga, board games, blind boxes, posters, vinyl figurines... I am not quite that knowledgable with any of the superhero comic book series, but they have quite a huge selection of books, toys, and posters in the back half of the store. What drew my attention were the blind boxes and plush key chains that greet you in the front. I am a sucker for anything KidRobot and Tokidoki. As for the manga, they carry very classic manga as well as newer ones. I'm not all that familiar with Japanese cartoons, but I do recognize the names of some of series from the past ten years (and some that are even older). The store carries series like Gundam Wing, Sailor Moon, and Attack on Titan. If I had the time and lived close by, I would definitely be a regular.

Jillian C.

Yelp
The staff is kind and so helpful. Their subscription service is fantastic. I love this place.

Zack H.

Yelp
Wow, by far the best comic book shop I've ever been to. Great selection of graphic novels as well as single issues. They have almost any comic you could ever want. They have a dedicated staff that is happy to help and a very convenient location in downtown Grand Rapids.

Nella P.

Yelp
Very wide selection of comic books to choose from. If looking for certain one they are likely to have it. Service is friendly and helpful. The place was hard to find at first with navigation but we found it. Very much recommend

Jason S.

Yelp
We typically go to the Ann Arbor location and we had a great experience at the GR location. As expected, an incredibly knowledgeable staff and exceptional help.

Bonnie M.

Yelp
Whenever I visit my friend in Middleville we always pop into vault of midnight and it is always very satisfying. Great selection of titles, staff is always super nice and helpful, fun ambiance. One of my all time favorite comic shops.

Squee N.

Yelp
Was my second time there and was a great experience. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. Everything is very well organized and extremely easy to find. Prices are not bad also. Highly recommended. Will definitely visit again.

Charles C.

Yelp
My absolute favorite comic book store. The people are super friendly and helpful and I always seem to find what I'm looking for, even when I can't find it at any other store. I'm big into dungeons and dragons and they have all the books, minis, and dice I needs The whole vibe inside is super cool and always has good music playing.

Yoly B.

Yelp
The Vault of Midnight have such a great selection of comic books. Any nerdy item you could think of is right here. Staff is helpful and informative. But one thing that makes this four stars instead of five is the way they treat a customer should you decide to get a comic elsewhere and cancel the same issue if it's on your subscription. They seemed quite rude to me when it does happen. Otherwise it's a great place for any comic book fan.

John H.

Yelp
This place is great place for all your nerd needs. It has comic, graphics novel, manga, trading cards and board game. The employees are nice and make good recommendation. It the best comic book store in this side of Grand Rapid. It worth checking out.

Art D.

Yelp
The store is fantastic. Great selection and the best graphic novel collection I've seen in west michigan. Something for everyone. Tabletop games and board games toys and collectables. And the most important thing a nice/helpful/knowledgable staff. And I'm not saying that because I'm biased by the fact that one of them has a sweet X-Static tattoo.

pheadrus t.

Yelp
Ridiculously we'll stocked, well designed and friendly store. One of the best comic shops I've ever seen.

C C.

Yelp
Vault of Midnight, an Ann Arbor staple, recently opened a location across-state in Grand Rapids. In the heart of the rejuvenating and happening downtown GR, it's a great space in a great location. They're still developing their back-issues; but there's an unparalleled selection of current issues; with an unbelievable graphic novel and gaming section. Really an excellent choice for your weekly/bi-monthly/monthly comic fix.

Ian A.

Yelp
I've been visiting Vault of Midnight at their Ann Arbor locations for over a decade. I've never found a comic shop more committed to accessibility, ridiculously good customer service, and a fantastic selection of comics and collectibles. I just left the Grand Rapids location with an armful of comics, and the quality of selection and staff remains wonderful. The best comic shop there is, by far. Go here.

Anna B.

Yelp
Loved this comic book store - they had a great selection, and wide variety of sales and genres. Sometimes, comic book stores can seem dark and unwelcoming - but Vault of Midnight was just the opposite. I will definitely revisit this store whenever I'm in town.

Robin S.

Yelp
Omg, this place is great! I discovered it while exploring around downtown while traveling through Grand Rapids. Walked out with a smile and an armful of comics.
