15 Must-Try Astral Margaritas in Orange County | Eater

"VEA Resort delivers peak Newport Beach luxury, perched between Fashion Island and the Newport Beach Country Club with sweeping views of the golf course and coastline. Inside the resort, Edge Pool Bar is an open-air escape ideal for sipping Astral’s seasonal margaritas, best paired with fresh seafood towers or crisp, citrusy ceviche. View Restaurant takes a more refined approach, serving koji-marinated wagyu with salsa verde, buttered lobster rolls, and delicately plated sushi beneath floor-to-ceiling windows." - McConnell Quinn

Where to Drink Margaritas in Orange County for MargaritaCon | Eater

"When a restaurant is given a name like View, it has a lot to live up to. Thankfully, the in-hotel lounge and restaurant at VEA Newport Beach absolutely fits the moniker, with views of both the nearby golf course and the Pacific Ocean on offer from its split indoor-outdoor dining areas. Another welcome sight: a menu of four different Astral margarita options, with a choice of prickly pear, pomegranate, guava, or blackberry to marry with lime, agave, and the spirit." - Robert Spuhler

Loved the rooms and pool area. Outdoor bar was large and relaxing on a Monday. Here for 5 nights and the service was consistently friendly and accommodating. The location is near the mall which has surprisingly decent restaurants. We were here for an event so hard to speak for the broader area. But would stay here again. Stayed in the Panorama suite...plenty of room. Also spent a night in a balcony suite which was great as well (nice spots to sit outside).

I'm giving this 4.5 stars. Pros: We got upgraded to a high floor room with view of golf course and bay. Staff were very hospitable and were on it if we had a request. We asked for plates and silverware and got it quickly. We asked for more towels and got it quickly. The rooms were modern, beds were comfortable, liked the robes, shower was good but knobs were a little confusing. They can take you anywhere within 3 miles of hotel. Cons: I really wish they had a tub. I heard only the suites had tubs. Please don't phase out tubs. Our sliding glass door lock didn't work but engineering came and fixed it quickly. Only one valet was not good, the rest were great.

Wanted to love this hotel but was a bit let down by the rooms. A large number of the rooms overlook the conference center where the AC condensers constantly hum loudly 24/7. Would recommend booking either the fireplace or sanctuary suites to guarantee a nice quiet view. Unfortunately they were fully booked when making this reservation reservation and ended up with a partial ocean view. Pool and coffee are great, but will probably skip unless a room with a nice quiet view is available.

I can’t say enough about our wonderful stay at VEA. The property grounds are Beautiful and the ocean and GOLF COURSE views stunning! The entire staff and level of service was exceptional! I would like to call out several outstanding Members of your team who went above and beyond to make sure whether it be my spa experience, suite selection or responding with to special requests. Everyone was friendly, courteous, and immensely helpful! Huge thanks and recognition to Spencer, Thomas, Brian and Ryan of the front desk staff . As well as Johnnie, Jose and Freddy in food service and dining. I have been raving about your property and giving it 5 stars across the board and recommending it to my friends and business associates. Will absolutely be back soon!! -Cecily Dean (Platinum Bonvoy member)

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. What I absolutely loved was the location it’s right next to long beach fashion island and within walking distance to Balboa Beach, which made exploring the area really enjoyable. The hotel also provides bicycles, which is a great touch. However, the service was disappointing. At check-in, I wasn’t offered any help with my luggage, and the same happened when I checked out. Throughout my stay, I was rarely assisted by the staff. While the reception team was friendly and welcoming, overall service felt lacking. Even basic amenities weren’t readily available ihad to request things that should have already been in place. As for the view, I can’t really rate it because my room didn’t have one it was completely viewless. I was told I’d need to pay an extra $75 to get a beach view, which was frustrating. That said, the hotel was clean and well-kept, and I appreciated that. I also briefly met the manager on the day I was leaving it was nice to see him checking in on guests. In summary, the location is truly excellent, and you have to pay for wife

We were here July 4 for 2 nights for a staycation. We stayed in 1 bedroom sky suite. It has 2 balconies, amenities are high end, hardwood floors, 2 complimentary slippers and 2 robes for use. We stay in a lot of luxury hotels. We like fun hotels with a lot going on and this hotel fits what we like. There’s a lot of seating areas by the pool. While it can get really packed and hard to find a spot, there are a lot of extremely pleasant and accommodating servers by the pool who keeps checking if you need anything and they also keep an eye on available pool lounge while you wait around the bar. They have hot tub and another pool area that’s quiet. Otherwise, there’s DJ, free ice cream and drinks at certain hours, their hotdog and burger during 4th of July, are soo delicious. They had their own fireworks show. Another day, they had beef, chicken and shrimp tacos at poolside and sooo delicious as well. They even had free bandanas, and the poolside staff goes around for complimentary sunglasses cleaning! They have grassy area where you can play games like cornhole, table tennis… we’re planning to come back for another fun relaxing staycation. Good job, Vea!

My partner and I stayed here from Friday through Sunday in late May with redemption of points and an FNA, and we loved all that this property had to offer. All staff that we interacted with, from check-in, questions, shuttle, food, and even at the pool and outdoor bar area were all incredibly friendly--I wish I took down names to give them a proper kudos. One of the guys at check-in noticed that I had a running shirt and gave me a map of running routes from the hotel! I appreciate that attention to detail. Our room was in the Sky tower, which is a bit of a walk from check-in all the way to the elevator. I am thankful for the room upgrade, which included a nice view of the golf course and the ocean. The room itself--bed, bathroom, and shower--was very beautiful and comfortable, and the view was the cherry on top. As mentioned in a previous review, I was also perplexed by the sliding door that allowed for a view of the room from the shower (and, similarly, a view of whoever is in the shower) but didn't mind it much. The room is not a conducive space for remote workers--the table in the room was small--but you should probably relax while you're staying here anyway and leave the laptop shut. We lounged by the pool and in the jacuzzi, hung out at the outdoor bar and the outdoor spaces, and ate at the restaurant for breakfast twice with food credit (which is given as a check-in gift/option for those with Platinum Elite). We utilized the shuttle to get us to and from Balboa Island. (Pay attention to what the resort fees cover and use them accordingly!) I also utilized the gym, which was very spacious and had plenty to offer for workouts, additional room outside, and even fruits and water bottles. We were lucky and that we didn't have to worry about valet parking for our stay. The location is perfect for all that we had planned to do, and we plan to visit again when we want to explore more of the Newport Beach and Balboa area!

Exceptional Stay at VEA Newport Beach! From the moment we arrived, the experience at VEA was nothing short of amazing. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful—going above and beyond to make our stay memorable. The property itself is stunning, with breathtaking views, a gorgeous pool area, and impeccably maintained grounds. The decor is both elegant and inviting, creating a perfect coastal luxury vibe. We especially enjoyed the delicious cocktails and the fantastic menu options for poolside dining—every bite and sip was spot-on. VEA is the perfect blend of relaxation, service, and style. We can’t wait to return!

Yelp
Was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. We normally stay at the Montage in Laguna when in OC but we needed something a bit more centrally located this time. I'd heard promising things about the renovation and rework of this hotel and I think they did a beautiful job. We stayed in the sky suite & although it was rainy throughout our stay, it was a well appointed suite. Great amount of space, two outdoor areas and quiet. The bathroom had a very nice vanity to get ready at. But the bathroom didn't seem to be cleaned as deeply as I would have expected upon arrival. Also, if you stay in the sky suite it's in the other building so expect some walking through the banquet areas of the hotel to get to your room. We didn't mind the walk and enjoyed the room so that wasn't a negative for us. Overall, we would certainly stay here again if in the area. The location is in a good spot and you have fashion island literally across the street if you need anything.

Yelp
This hotel is absolutely amazing! From the time we hit LA, to the Hospitality at the front desk, to the gentleman who walked us to our room and showed us around the property - they really know how to make guests feel welcome. We were able to get an upgrade to a room with a patio that overlooks at the golf course, absolutely breathtaking! The hotel is conveniently located next to the mall, so if you need something relaxing to do it's easy to walk around. The area is also littered with amazing restaurants so you don't have to go far. However, for maximum relaxation, we stayed in our room and ordered room service. I honestly don't think I've had better pan seared salmon. We ended our trip dining in the restaurant for breakfast, the lemon ricotta pancakes were literally to die for. And special shout out to our server, Freddy, when the restaurant didn't have the chai latte that I wanted, he went to the café in the lobby to get it for me. 10/10 service!!!

Yelp
I was so excited to go back To VEA to celebrate our anniversary and Christmas holidays. I also invited friends of mine. Everything was great, weather, foods, services, especially our room w pool view on the 3rd floor including complementary white wine for our anniversary. The Pool was not heated enough for swimming but I soaked my whole body in the jaccuzi. Feel much better back n forth pool and jacuzzi at night. The night lighting blue color was superbe. And also the entire day and night view from our room was fantastic. Relaxed completely from work!! For the fitness gym near pool area was great. They have water, some fruits like bananas, apples, and oranges. The gym is quiet and gives big Turf zone for stretching. And also offers yoga classes everyday. For the room, I love love the rain shower. I can massage my achy shoulders under the shower. The water pressure is powerful. For the valet parking, fast and friendly. And shuttle service for Corona Del Mar beach was good. We really enjoyed walking on the boardwalk near beach houses. Overall I can tell very good except extra tourism charge on my final bill. I needed to contact the front desk and manager for that issue. When I got here in February, the weather was terrible due to the heavy rainstorm in OC. I didn't do not much at hotel. Just sleep, eat, pool, jacuzzi, and go to Fashion island for Mexican, Italian restaurants. I was concerned about my friends and checked about their first experience here at VEA Marriott and finally I could relax. They all had a wonderful time for the holidays such as room, valet parking service, foods, gym, shuttle service, and outdoor pool, and beautiful holiday deco, ambiance. Thank God!!! Pros Service, Quality: 5 stars Cons Valet parking: no Self parking. Extra tourism charge: charged $13.15 beside 2 tourism fees. What is this hidden fee???? Why do I need to contact the manager about that extra tourism fee? I had such a great time w my friends and hubby. That extra charge drove me crazy after check out. You need to itemize each fee in details depends on marketing fee, or tourism CA tax, etc. I am always accurate for the numbers in life. Doesn't matter $10 or $60. Should be clear for the customers. This is a part of courtesy and service. Hopefully they understand my point.

Yelp
Went to the lounge called Reveal. Was a nice lounge with a speakeasy feel. The cocktails were great and the food was really good as well. It had a very contemporary feel to it with fireplaces, couches, and comfortable seating. The lounge was tucked away on the first level behind glass doors Had an outdoor area that overlooked the pool as well. Definitely a great place to hang out with friends if you want that more upscale and private vibe.

Yelp
Chic hotel in Newport Beach across Fashion Mall Friendly staff and ready to assist any way they can. LED screen on the pool bar is truly something to see. It's conveniently located across Fashion Mall with many options for places to eat. They offer shuttle service within 3 miles which works for exploring Corona Del Mar, Balboa Island and of course, Newport Beach. Too bad we didn't get to experience their Speak Easy room.I guess we'll have to stay here again another time. Great experience all around!!! I'll do a separate review of the restaurant inside the hotel, The View.

Yelp
Beautiful property, great location (nordstrom in fashion island is right across, balboa island nearby) However there is still room for improvement I am a marriott member and requested the room near the elevator due to my mom's mobility issue upon reservation (2 weeks before) , but they assigned us to the furthest room from the elevator. 10mins walk from the lobby. The partial ocean view room has a beautiful view but extremely small that reminds me of hotel rooms in tokyo, not US standard. Also i want to mention the valet service didnt meet the standard of a luxury property. After checking out the valet simply handed me the car key, not asking if i needed any assistance with my luggage (i had a large size trunk) There were group of valet people just standing and chatting each other. So i had to put my luggage in the trunk myself What disappointed me more was it wasnt busy at all and i was the only guest at the valet PS. The guest service was great and they tried to accomodate every request i made They provide morton brown amenities and frette towels which is a plus

Yelp
What a great space! When I think of hotel restaurants for some reason I don't think of this. The view is fantastic. Life cold at this time of year so we all had to keep our jackets on. We had a great table dad enough away from the bar and our server was fantastic. It took a bit to get some f the items we ordered. But honestly we didn't care. We were catching up. Ad our server bought us 2 different deserts for the delay we hardly noticed. So we made sure we took care of him. The food is good here! Flavorful and delicious. I could have stayed longer. But since this is a restaurant with a view in a hotel. The price tag is up there. Some customers were dressed to impress. Some of us were dressed a little bit more relaxed but still dressed for a fun evening out. Basically meaning jeans and cute boots. I'm coming back to check out the brunch. I bet the view is insanely beautiful!

Yelp
This review is for Reveal Lounge. I came here for a girls night out at 9pm on a Friday night. It's located inside VEA Hotel, so we valet our car and entered through a set of doors on the left past the host. It's first come, first serve so definitely come early as there weren't any seats left when we arrived. The space isn't too big either, which fit about 10-15 small groups. There was also a small outdoor area, but it was reserved for a party. We attempted to order drinks until a table opened up, but the bartender said we could only order when we are seated. Our group of 5 managed to find two chairs while the rest of us stood around. When we flagged down a bartender to try and order drinks again, she rudely questioned if she would be able to serve us since some of us were standing. If we're not allowed to stand around, then they should have a waitlist or someone at the entrance to manage tables. This is not a restaurant, so why did we all have to be seated? If it's a safety issue, well there were cords tangled next to the chair. I'd say that's more of a hazard sitting on the chair than standing around. Eventually, she offered to take our drink orders. Honestly, there's much more to say but I'll leave it at that. This was a terrible experience and I honestly wanted to leave. The service was lacking and it took another 10 minutes to find someone to get our checks. When I was looking for someone to help us, another employee bumped into me. As classy as this place looks from the outside, their management and service is a mess. The drinks are standard at $18-20 per drink. I would say that they best thing here were the fries, but not worth coming back until they figure out their kinks --hopefully they can improve as they are fairly new.

Yelp
This refurbished hotel delivers on the view, the service, and the food. Easy to navigate and super friendly staff. The food is easily 5 star. Can't member the last time hotel food made this kind of impression. If any drawbacks, I felt like the sound. Proofing was lacking.. but otherwise comfortable room and daily service.

Yelp
We went to the reveal bar at VEA Newport Beach as we heard there was a holiday pop- up Christmas bar. It was super cute and the transformation was fun with Christmas trees and lights. It was like a mini winter wonderland. I recommend checking it out if you're local or staying at VEA. It's a fun festive experience. On the other side of the token, the service and drinks were truly just okay. We had one server that was so kind and sweet -- I wish I knew his name. The others were just okay when providing service and it took us a minute to realize we can't order at the bar but we have to wait to be served where we choose to sit. I assumed that we could choose a seat and when we were ready we could order from the bar but this was not the case. I realize they are busy and have several orders from what it looks throughout the entire hotel so you just need to be aware of this. Once we were able to order, we ordered the you'll shoot your eye out and Clark Griswold cocktail and a side of fries. The Clark Griswold was a mulled wine and the other was an iced cocktail. They were both just okay - I truly did not like either one if I have to be honest. The mulled wine was off maybe with the spices being too strong. If you go in with the expectation of moderate tasting cocktails with a festive experience and cute photo ops, you'll have fun. I'm sure their cocktails and other drinks that are on the menu full-time are just fine! We stayed for about an hour on a Friday night and the there was no wait. There's street parking across from the hotel or valet if you'd like to just walk-in once you arrive.

Yelp
Gorgeous hotel in Newport Beach. The VEA was recently updated and it is stunning. Sitting right on a golf course with views of the ocean, the VEA offers a lot of activities on site and nearby. The hotel staff is friendly, helpful, and attentive. The rooms are tastefully decorated, clean, comfortable, and don't have carpet (which is always a win for me). My only complaints about the VEA are that the pool is really small and there aren't a lot of poolside lounge chairs for the volume of people that tend to be on site during the day. They absolutely need a second pool for the size of this hotel. Also, the bar/restaurant needs way more staff on weekends and when the hotel is the venue for events. The bar and wait staff couldn't keep up with the volume of people visiting following the onsite events... for which there were at least 4 the evening we were there.

Yelp
Okay so, I finally went yesterday and I loved my experience. The hotel is plush luxury inside and very inviting. They don't ask you a question. They treat everyone like a guest. I was able to go to the pool area and bar and went for a swim, lounged, sun bathed, and I seen all the areas they have to chill. I want to go back. I was able to park at fashion island and when I was done there I went to Whole Foods after. Overall I'd come back here with a date. For sure.

Yelp
I came here for dinner once which was lovely. Their VIEW restaurant area was large and the chairs are very comfortable. Unless you are sitting on the patio area there isn't really a view. Sometimes they have the patio doors open but it can get windy so we asked them to close them. Their sushi is pretty good. They do have a variety of rolls and it all tasted fresh. They have a variety of drinks on their menu. I had one of their sparkling Rose wine which was pretty good. We came a second time here for their 4th of July fireworks show. I had their Wagyu skewers. Their steak is from Texas so you can expect high quality. My friend had their sea bass fish, which is farm raised. Unfortunately the food took a while and so by the time I got my Caesar salad my friend had finished their dish. Our servers Andres and Luis were super helpful. Also kuddos to the bellhop boy Pedro for being so welcoming!

Yelp
We stayed here for a weekend getaway. The staff was very friendly. Very nice resort style hotel across the street from Fashion Island. Everything was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The room had a spectacular view of the pool, gold course, and ocean in the background. Will definitely stay here again.

Yelp
I enjoyed having lunch here more so because of the great service and thoughtfulness of the servers like Jay. I hope to back here when the weather is nice.

Yelp
I did not stay at this hotel so I can't comment on the rooms. The Pool is great! The outdoor bar has a limited menu but a great vibe and view. Restaurant in the hotel has elegant decor, far better than what I would expect at a hotel. Food was about what I'd expect, not bad but overpriced. Service by all staff at the restaurant and pool was superior. Special shout out to Tyler in the restaurant.

Yelp
We are so happy to stay at VEA Newport Beach Marriotte on Weekend. Even though the weather was crazy but the staff, service, foods, amenities were awesome. Pros View, Room: ocean view, pool view are great, the room was clean, big enough w balcony except dust on the bed headboard. I am not too picky but hotel housekeepers should be attentive when they clean the room and replace the bedding sheets. Restaurant service, quality, price: excellent We thank breakfast server "Jonathan" at View. He was amazingly friendly, very attentive. The omelette was fluffy, delicious. My eggs and hash brown were so good. We loved Denver omelette, 2 eggs breakfast w sausages. Heavenly!!! We found 5 star restaurant for breakfast. Hotel Amenities: 5stars Free complementary service: 5 stars We got the chardonnay for the birthday, upgraded room w Ocean view. The outdoor pool, jacuzzi were beautiful. No live music w DJ at the pool and all closed due to the rainstorm. Valet parking: 5 stars No extra charge, including when I booked the room. Staff are all friendly. Cons Coffee maker Nespresso: not working only hot water came out without the coffee. Something wrong??? Resort fee: charged at check out I know many resort hotels charge the resort fees but all including when people booked the rooms. Why charged it at check out? Overall, we experienced a great time except the bad weather. Wish we stay in the summer and enjoy the live music and cocktail at the pool. Once again, we want to have the same breakfast at VIEW. I can't wait to try it again. Haha....beautiful presentation, excellent foods. Lovely!!!

Yelp
I stayed here for my birthday, and have stayed at many Marriott hotels as I'm a bombay member, but this was one of my best stays. Everyone was so nice and cheerful and made the weekend very pleasant. Lia at the front desk was especially amazing, she made the weekend extra special since she knew it was my birthday especially by sending a bottle of champagne. She had positive energy and made us feel welcome from when we checked in and throughout the weekend. Thank you Lia, and thank you to the whole Vea staff!

Yelp

Yelp
Beautiful and nice room we had on 14th floor. Had golf course view and far away pacific ocean view also. Very well equipped room with square rain shower with good drain system. Two queen beds are comfortable with four pillows each and thick soft sheets. Loved Nespresso coffee machine! Made my morning coffee every morning. Interesting thing is 1) when I step in to the bathroom lights are on . It's good on day time, not so good during the night. Overall very nice room with nice view.

Yelp
One of our favorite places to stay! Alex at the pool bar is absolutely fantastic...he took such great care of us & our kiddos during our stay. The view & atmosphere is perfect! We loved our room...this hotel is stunning.

Yelp
Norris is the reason I would come back to this place. Great drinks great vibes but the hospitality is everything. Norris went above and beyond making us feel special. We will be back because of him. Thank you Norris!

Yelp
it was a bit difficult to try to find the bar, but it looks exactly as i saw online. the scenery was also breathtaking and the drinks were decently made. it did take a while for us to get helped so that would be my only complaint.

Manny H.

Yelp
When I first checked in we had a little bit of a hiccup but it was resolved and our stay was great. If you're coming for a view, request that you get the highest of the rooms lol Staff was great and Management was extremely helpful. It's a beautiful property and the beds are pretty comfortable The cafe downstairs their pastries are extremely good! IMO their coffee is better than the one with a star lol and it's located directly in the lobby! Valet was great. I judge valet off the attendant and if they open my door or my daughter's door first. So far all of their guys passed the test. Each one of them went directly to her door and took care of her first. That's a Big win from me Overall it was a good stay and thank you Michael and staff for making it right. You went over and beyond and we appreciate that

Yelp
Date night Saturday night... In my opinion, this is a Newport hotspot . I've got a great patio dining area overlooking the pool. We sat on the inside , the vibe was great and we were really enjoying the music. All of the food that we enjoyed was delicious. I started off with the "what's up Doc"cocktail . A little Casamigos tequila, carrot juice, lemon, it was exactly what the doctor ordered for me. The crispy rice with tuna was yummy . I have to say my favorite was the butternut squash soup with fresh sage. So flavorful. We also enjoyed the Seabass with the grilled mushrooms . And of course, for dessert the Mediterranean cheesecake . it was a lot lighter than a regular cheesecake very fresh with pineapple. They do have valet parking however, we were very lucky and parked right in front of the hotel , for free. This restaurant is a great date night. We noticed they were having quite a few large parties, a bachelorette party, a girls night out. And of course, the infamous date night.

Yelp
My friends and I recently enjoyed a truly exceptional stay at Vea this past weekend for our friends birthday. Unanimously, we concluded that the hotel staff was the most welcoming and accommodating we've ever experienced. There are countless praises to share. To begin with, Alex was remarkably considerate regarding our accommodation, ensuring the check-in process was both swift and effortless. His kindness marked a splendid beginning to our journey, and we're immensely grateful for his assistance. The cleanliness and beauty of our hotel room were noteworthy, complemented by a breathtaking view of the golf course and ocean. The room service was outstanding, and the attention to detail was evident when the front desk called to confirm our satisfaction with the meal. Our day by the pool was made even more relaxing by the attentive staff, who provided chair covers and frequently checked in to ensure our comfort. In the evening, our visit to the fish bar was made memorable by the charming Johnathan who truly deserves a special mention. His warm, caring, and charismatic nature made our interaction delightful, and the drinks he served were exceptional. His approach to hospitality goes beyond service, its about creating a connection with each guest. The prompt service and the stunning sunset view capped off a perfect night. In summary, I cannot express enough gratitude for the hotel and its remarkable staff. I wholeheartedly recommend Vea for an unparalleled hospitality experience, and my friends and I eagerly anticipate our return. An absolute 5-star rating is without question.

Yelp
What a beautiful location. Celebrated my daughter's 32nd bday at the poolside bar. Service was 5 stars! Food was so tasty. Had the sushi, agua chile shrimp, burger, and sandwiches! Everyone loved their food. The drinks were especially tasty. Whether you ordered a drink from their cocktail menu or a bar staple, each one came perfectly garnished and balanced alcohol:mix perfectly. It's not off the beach, but right on a golf course and the day was so clear you could see the ocean in the not-so-far distance. Perfect California scene for food, drink, and atmosphere!

Yelp
I loved the service. We went August 3 2024 around 1PM and the food server was amazing. I went with someone who is one of the most challenging customers ever, and I'm sorry. But I didn't like my food. I paid for it. But my companion insisted that she be compensated on her bill. And they did. I apologize and appreciate their patience and customer service. The food servings were tiny. For me. But it was delicious. I got the bolognese and I wanted more. It was expensive and the drink menu was small..but delicious it's about quality over quantity and if you enjoy good tasting food EXCELLENT customer service and amazing views and ambiance, I recommend this place.

Yelp
This review is from the perspective of a Marriot titanium member, but this should also roughly apply to platinum and ambassador members as well. Also please note the resort fees and valet-only parking fees. GYM - 5/5 The equipments are kept under good condition. There's also apples and bottles of water (refrigerated and non-refrigerated) on the counter you can take. LOCATION - 5/5 It's right across the street from the Fashion Island shopping center so it's a very short walk there. They also provide shuttles to the Corona Del Mar beach. POOL - 5/5 There was live DJ and a bar right at the pool. It's a very good ambiance. PLATINUM+ BENEFITS: We got a very minimal upgrade to the guest room with ocean view. IN-ROOM WELCOME GIFT - 0/5 Not provided aside from the usual bottles of water. EXECUTIVE LOUNGE - 0/5 Not provided. BREAKFAST - 4/5 We got to choose between points or a $60 breakfast voucher ($30 per person) to the View restaurant in the resort. Of course we chose the breakfast which was pretty good. You can see my review on that on the View restaurant's yelp page.

Yelp
This was a really nice place to have a little staycation! I wasn't really expecting much but upon arrival everything looks very chic! Very nice pool with the bar area in the rear of the hotel. Everyone there was extremely nice! Conveniently located across from fashion Island for those who love to go shopping. The thing I really liked and enjoyed was patio area in my hotel room. Very nice fireplace and a couple of chairs where you can sit and watch the sunset drinking a nice glass of champagne or wine. If you're looking for a great place for a staycation, I definitely recommend this hotel.

Yelp
VEA is one of my favorite hotels in OC. Whether I am coming here for lunch, to hang by the pool or to join their fun workout - it's always a great experience.

Yelp
Really nice location. The rooms were clean and spacious. I loved the view from my balcony which consisted of the ocean and the pool all in one. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Growing up in Newport Beach, I knew the Vea as The Newport Beach Marriott, which met its time as was due for a renovation. Well, The Vea doesn't disappoint! The muted beige, dark brown colors, and natural wood throughout. What's somewhat disappointing for this class of Marriott Hotel is the lack of "welcoming" from the staff. I thought this was isolated to the front desk but carried through to the Pool Bar, where we virtually begged for service. I understand being busy and understaffed, but at this price point, Marriott should consider a staff pow wow!

Yelp
I really enjoyed my recent stay at VEA Newport Beach. The property itself is gorgeous. The staff is friendly, and super helpful. The rooms are comfy, plush, and super cute. My only issue (hence 4 stars instead of 5) is that when I went up to my room to the 12th floor, my key didn't work. I went back downstairs to talk to the front desk staff, and they claimed I checked out. How could I have checked out if I was just going up to my room?! Regardless though, the very helpful staff fixed whatever issue there was, and I was back on my way to my new room in n the 11th floor. I did hear from another person in our corporate group that she went to a room where there was a guy already in there. She went back to the front desk too, and was given a new room as well. Not sure if there was a computer error, but definitely needs to be looked into. Also, one other little thing that bugged a smidge, is that this is a Marriott property, and not once was I recognized as a longtime Bonvoy member, nor was my Bonvoy status recognized.

Yelp
We showed up exactly at 3pm (check-in time) because we were on a time crunch. Upon arriving we were told that the room was not yet ready... I explained that I needed to be at the airport soon and they were able to upgrade our room and gave us the room key right away. This really helped a lot with our plans and timing. Overall the room was modern, ample, and with a beautiful view of a golf course. Besides the hotel, the area is also very nice, with many restaurants and shops all around. I will definitely return back here again.

Yelp
Beautiful venue. Overlooks the ocean. Fun summer concerts. $30 valet??!! That's just crazy.

Yelp
The Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa has been refreshed and modernized into the Vea Newport Beach. Living up to its new name, (Vea means to see) the balcony in each room is now accessible by floor to ceiling accordion walls, making the view to the harbor completely unobstructed. The rooms are nicely redone and the bed very comfortable, and Molton Brown toiletries are provided to guests. The remodel brought some nice features, such as the portico with a dramatic water feature, a pastry and coffee station in the lobby, and a new pool side bar with a digital aquarium display on the ceiling. Also, the hotel now has several outdoor spaces and fire features for lounging or working. The staff here are a standout. Everyone we encountered, from the valet to the front desk, to the bellman and the associates servicing the pool were phenomenal. Several of the guests however behaved as if they were feral, as demonstrated by the constant games of chase around the pool, incessant yelling, and throwing a football from the lawn to the balcony off the stair case, hitting other guests who were using the stairs, but continuing their game of catch nonetheless. We saw guests reclining with their bare feet up on restaurant furniture. It was disappointing that so many were so oblivious to how their behavior impacted other guests, or didn't care. Having once worked in the area, I stayed at the previous version of this hotel so many times it was my home away from home. It was a professional and peaceful property. But with the type of clientele flocking to this property now, I'm not sure I can return.

Yelp
Brief stay. Barely enjoyed the hotel, Beautiful hotel, great views, pool and gym looked very appealing, conveniently located near a mall restaurants and grocery stores. Had fairway and water view in one of the sanctuary rooms. Services was good, didn't interact much. Ordered food from the bar restaurant, the crispy tuna was delicious took it to go because they only had 2 servers for everyone. Should look into offering restaurant food as an option as well. Should also probably look into getting more help when you have events. The room is very nice and comfortable all the amenities are great, housekeeping was nice, but at $680 a night, I would expect that my little complementary bottle of lotion which was 1/4 empty would be restocked. Additionally at that price the minimum is that you would offer better pillows. At that price point, even hotels with lower price points offer down feather pillows. Not sure if they were old or just worn out but they were discombobulated, I had to roll them and for someone who paid that just to sleep, unfortunately it was a disappointment. I did love the large tv, and the guys at the entrance of the hotel opening doors offering assistance at all times of the day and night.

Yelp
Had such a wonderful time at this resort last week. The location is beautiful, close to amazing shopping and the beach. We heard there is a shuttle to the beach, but we like to stroll so we enjoyed the lovely walk. We spent half a day next to the pool, the service was top notch and the poolside bar and food was great! I've been accused of being too picky about hotel rooms, (I sometimes pack my own pillow just in case) but absolutely no complaints here! Our room was sparkling clean, bed was very comfortable and the view couldn't be beat. Shout out to Josefina our very kind housekeeper, and Alex in the restaurant. Superb service all around!

Yelp
I hate to give this hotel a 1 star, as we spent the last 3 fourth of Julys there....but I want to warn everyone about the crazy fees this property charges! For a 3 night stay, we were charged over 600.00 in fees. These were not room taxes either. 60 a night to park, 58 a night resort fee, and a bunch of misc stuff. The craziest part is they charge you tax on the resort fee!! Your already ripping us off with the fee, but to tax it too is crazy. Then they charge you tax again on the room just to make sure you know they can do whatever they want. See my receipts below. The hotel is pretty but the feeling of being stole from isn't.

Yelp
The property is lovely. The staff EXCEPTIONAL. I couldn't believe how nice, helpful and welcoming every employee was from the front desk at check in to the valet, bell men, bar, restaurant staff and housekeeping. It really made our stay better. Definitely the biggest asset to this "resort." Our hotel room was showing signs of wear and tear. Wallpaper coming up in the bathroom and an older mattress. And there is a moving wall in the bedroom that exposes the shower. That design confused both me and my spouse. Very odd choice of design, unless it was to allow sunlight into the bathroom. The room was extremely clean, as was the bathroom. The bed is showing age and the pillows were absolutely the WORST pillows I've ever had to put my head down on. Even Marriotts more affordable brands have better pillows. And then there is the noise. We were on the 9th floor of a 10 story building. I couldn't imagine booking a weekend of spa treatments only to deal with the loudest HVAC system I've ever heard. All night there was a loud droning sound coming from the exhaust fans on the first floor and it prevented us from sleeping through the night. The noise, along with the pillows are the reason for the 3 stars. VEA Resort and Spa has a very hight price point. And for that, everything at the hotel should be on par with that price point. The employees meet that price point, but the room, mattress and HVAC noise did not. Get rid of the sliding glass doors and install soundproof glass! The food at the restaurant was fantastic. Waygu beef burger was perfectly cooked, some of the best fries I've ever had. The Eggs Benedict was also very good with a delicious hollandaise sauce. Coffee was also top notch. Because of the noise, I wouldn't stay here again. I can spend just as much, if not more, at other resorts in Newport Beach and get a better nights sleep.

Yelp
I feel horrible leaving a bad review but honestly once you find one dirty thing it really makes you wonder what else wasn't cleaned?!?! Dirty table. Fingerprints everywhere in room. Cobwebs and really dusty outdoor area. Long hair in corners of room. We stayed in a golf view terrace room. View was pretty and room was standard (plus wondering if room was ever cleaned) won't be coming back. ****Adding this as I'm still here at hotel. They mowed the lawn in front of our patio and blew leaves and dust everywhere as we were trying to hang out by our outdoor fire pit this morning. I understand the need to keep grounds clean. But I feel like there's a better time for this. Maybe during checkout time.

Yelp
to keep it simple : resort ambience 9/10 restaurant food : 7/10 - a little bland and a long wait for food and drinks. hotel staff: 8/10 very nice and attractive , however lots of early 20s staff here and you can tell. kind of felt like this was a lot of teens/earky 20s first summer job. not much diversity in the staff . Luxury sky suite: 10/10 Spa Vea :10/10 my masseuse was better than one i had at Glenn Ivy. the spa actually had babyliss as the hairstyling products and Moroccan oil brand to use. I'm going to have to keep coming back to this. overall I would recommend. beautiful area and a breath of fresh air from LA.

Yelp
Honestly, this bar is much more impressive on social media than in person. The drink menu was pretty limited, and the options weren't that great. The hotel itself is beautiful and views were pretty; however, I would not return to the bar.

Yelp
I'm a loyal Marriott Bonvoy member who has collected well over a million points over the years. I love the brand and even have a Bonvoy credit card. The property is lovely. The staff EXCEPTIONAL. Yelp
Not as expected from IG Reels. There is no roof top , ocean front view. It is pool side adjacent to a golf course. The aquarium is a tren-I- tron illusion with no real fish. Slow service and mediocre food!

Yelp
We attended a conference for three days and extended by two days. This is a very nice, comfortable venue. The food was really very good, from the dinner buffet on the lawn-which had vegan and vegetarian in with incredible short ribs and chicken, to the lunch , to the Mexican flavored breakfast. It was very good with a wide variety of selections. every employee we encountered was happy and greeted us warmly. The wait staff, valet, front desk, and drink of the day made our stay even more enjoyable.

Yelp
Mediocre food, great service. This is Newport Beach, fashion island. This food is way below the quality you'd expect in this area. Took my family here for my daughter's bday. We ordered appetizer, sandwiches, and drinks. The best thing was the hummus dip. Burger no flavor. Daughter did not like the lobster sandwich at all, flavor was off. I understand they just opened but quality needs to go way up to compete with the other local Reataurants. Service: 5 friendly staff Food: 3 stars (see above) Music: 5 stars because they were playing house music and the kids loved it.
