VHOP in East Point flips vegan pancakes worth waking up early for - Review - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Ride down Cleveland Avenue in East Point and you’ll spot a cotton candy-pink house that’ll make you slow down like a Bobby Valentino song. And be prepared to make plenty of future stops here because this weekend-only, pick-up kitchen serves the kind of moist, fluffy pancakes to plan your Saturday morning errands around. The family-run establishment serves a couple of other plant-based breakfast items, but they're called the House of Pancakes, and these light and spongey griddle cakes are why you should be here. A stack gets you three pancakes the size of a small frisbee, topped however you’d like—dusted with powdered sugar, piled with jammy strawberries and cream, or draped in sweet blueberry compote. Wait on the small porch for your order, where you might run into a few celebrities (Jermaine Dupri or Tabitha Brown are known fans). The pancakes come out fast, and are passed to you with the kind of smiley service that makes the pink house feel like the right choice for your morning breakfast run. Food Rundown Pancakes This is what you’re here for, so order the pancakes. They are the size of a dinner plate—thick but still airy and pillowy soft enough to sponge up the syrup. photo credit: Tabia S. Lisenbee-Parker Vegan sausage This is a plain Beyond Meat sausage patty that you can pick up at your nearest grocery store. You’re not missing anything. Tofu scramble The tofu is scrambled like eggs and mixed with sautéed onions, peppers, and kale. It’s well-spiced, but the grainy consistency throws it off a bit—it’s not our favorite. Cheesy Potato Casserole Baked potatoes come mashed up and covered in melty housemade vegan cheese sauce with green onions—it’s solid. photo credit: Tabia S. Lisenbee-Parker photo credit: Tabia S. So much better than I would have imagined, nice staff and huge portions. I’ve been before on a weekend but never got to get food because it was so packed. I was happy they implemented the order ahead option online. I’m not vegan and I pictured your classic, thin vegan pancakes but these are thick and the fruit topping (of your choice) isn’t an add on, it’s how it comes. I got the peaches and cream and would recommend it because I didn’t have to add any syrup. It was perfect as it was. The potatoes and grits were amazing. One meal could feed a family of 3. It’s so much food.

I visited Vegan House of Pancakes in Atlanta this past weekend, and it was absolutely amazing! The food blew me away—the pancakes were perfectly fluffy and delicious, and the tofu scramble was so good that I honestly couldn’t believe it was tofu (and I’m not even a tofu fan!). One of the co-owners, Grey, was as pleasant and full of great energy as always—it was so good to see him again. Thank you Chef Nikki for the incredible food. I even bought some of their pancake mix to take home because I couldn’t leave without it! This spot is a gem, and I can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a tasty, vegan-friendly breakfast or brunch in Atlanta!

The food was good besides the burnt sausage! The cheese potatoes were so good I’m not a vegan and I can say that you can’t tell they are vegan at all! The staff was friendly and great. I ordered extra syrup and I didn’t receive it but no big deal we got syrup at home. They give you a very small amount of syrup for 3 big pancakes so you will run out. I do think that the food is extremely over priced. The first time we attempted to eat here the line was wrapped around the building. This time there was no line and I understand why. I get that the business is only open on the weekends so the pricing is probably set to reflect that but we ordered two meals with one order of two sausages on the side (one sausage was so burnt I couldn’t even eat it)… with extra syrup and cream and that came up to 60 dollars. The food was good but when the price is that high for a take our restaurant who would really want to come back for food they could make at home? 2 beyond sausages are 5.50 when the entire pack at the grocery store isn’t even that much. I love to support vegan restaurants especially black owned vegan restaurants but it has to be realistic and this, to me, wasn’t.

The owners and family that run this pink house of pancakes in East Point, GA are to be praised for their world class service and friendly hospitable nature. All smiles! Now on to the food… tremendous pancake stacks truly delicious along with their tofu scramble and potatoes! Amazing work! Could eat every menu item as an individual meal for a week if I could! Only realizing now I devoured my stack before getting a proper photo as well as the tofu scramble… oops! 😅

I’m lost for words. My pictures will pretty much tell it all. I have been watching their IG pages for the longest and I just had to make my way down to finally try their Pancakes. I am soooo glad that I did. They were everything that I imagined it to taste like and more. The service was everything from their smiles, their energy, positivity I loved that. I hope they have the Grits in stock when I return. If you haven’t been take my word and my pictures lol word for it. Also I’m not vegan but food tasting like this I will be switching over 😉

Friendliest service I've received in years, feels like family and going home. You can order online or from an outdoor kiosk. I ordered from the car 12 minutes before I arrived, and as I walked up on the patio they called my name and my food was hot and ready. On the patio kiosk and as soon as they called my order they called her name, even though she ordered about 3 minutes after I did. Very quick service! You can take your food to go, or eat on the dining patio. With all of the pollen and Georgia, their white tables and chairs were spic and span clean, we ate on the patio and loved it. We had great conversations with other diners, and were checked on in a respectful manner by the owner, whose lively energy is infectious, and clearly loves, and is invigorated by, what he and his wife have created. My friend ordered the blueberry gluten-free pancakes, and I ordered the strawberry gluten-free pancakes. We both said they were the best gluten-free pancakes we'd ever had- fluffy, appropriately moist, appealing texture and delicious! I love that the vegan sausage was cooked well-done- crisp on the outside moist on the inside, mouth-watering scrumptious! I'm excited to return with my two pancake-loving kiddos! Brand new deck and ramp makes it 100% wheelchair accessible, and the ordering kiosk is low enough to be reachable for all. Great thought put into disability justice and accessibility.

The Vegan House of Pancakes is a top notch experience. The food is amazing, the Pancake Plate comes with sides. You can't go wrong with any of the pancake toppings. The entire Full Circle Farm Sanctuary team loves VHOP and we try to visit as ofter as we can to support this amazing local vegan business!!!

Yelp
Yummy in my Tummy! I found out about this restaurant from social media and decided to check them out. They are opened on Saturday and Sunday ONLY! I went to their website to view the menu and noticed I could place my order on line. You can place your order for immediate pick up or you can set a time to pick it up. I set a time to pick mine up because I'm about 25 mins away. Doing an online order was the BEST thing ever! I placed by order à la carte but they have combos as well. I ordered pancakes with peaches and cream, vegan sausage, tofu scramble, and jalapeño grits. I arrived at the restaurant and it was packed, there's parking in the back. I pulled in, parked and walked up to the restaurant. They have a kiosk where you place your order and a pick up window where you would get your food from. There's picnic tables out there if you decide to eat your breakfast there. I walked to the pickup window and advise the person that I was there to pick up my online order. I provided my name and within the next five minutes I had my food. The person at the window was friendly and very personable. He was talking to everyone and making sure everyone was doing okay. I took my food home to eat. The pancakes melt in your mouth and the peaches and cream topping was soooo good. You didn't need syrup. The jalapeño grits was creamy and delicious. The vegan sausage was just vegan sausage and the tofu scramble was tasty. Will I come back ABSOLUTELY! I wish they were open everyday of the week!

Yelp
First off YELP was lacking reviews so I had to go to google. There I learned that sometimes the line to order can be long and then you have to wait on your order so we decided to call the order in. We found out they DO NOT TAKE PHONE ORDERS- you must go to vhop.com to order. Great process. We placed our order with an estimated eta of 10-15 minutes. While on the way a call came from VHOP to verify our ETA - that has never happened to me. They were very cordial and wanted to ensure that my order would be hot and ready. When we pulled up we were greeted with smile and waves and directions where to park. Parking is extremely limited. There might be room for 7-10 vehicles. This is not a major problem because this is TAKE OUT ONLY. There is picnic style benches which my wife and I did utilize to eat on and there is also limited 2 person seating on the deck that you order and receive your food on. The FOOD: delicious. I first saw this establishment introduced by Tabitha Brown and her crew- they made it look so good on the video- they were not exaggerating. The tofu scramble was the only average to lacking tasting item. EVERYTHING else was AMAZING‼THE CHEESY POTATO CASSEROLE is from heaven. For real. The pancakes are actually good without syrup or topping but when I put the blueberry topping on they went to the moon. Things to remember- put your order in online. Make sure you get the platter or order the potato casserole somehow and you will be happyextremely happy

Yelp
I ordered the gluten free pancakes with peaches compote and the cheezy potato casserole. Definitely 10/10. I'm not vegan, but I wanted to try this place for a nondairy option to my favorite treat and they did not disappoint. The pancakes were fluffy and flavorful. Service was good. There was a wait but it was worth it. The owner Gray was very personable and had great energy so it definitely helped pass the time. Be mindful that there is only outside seating.
