Went here during my lunch break while working in the Bronx. The staff was kind and knowledgeable but the food was not outstanding. Space was clean but small. The bulgar was dry but everything was just ok. I was hoping to be wowed but sadly I was not. I would still recommend this place but I’m not excited about going back. Wish the tastes had a bit more complexity. This plate costs me about $12.

I've been trying out vegan restaurants in all boroughs of NYC. I've never think of rating a restaurant 1 star until I entered this place. First off, Im now profoundly accustomed to Jamaican customer service, so I wasn't surprised here or eating based on this. The menu is confusing. Someone needs to explain to them what "a la carte" means. I ordered the mock oxtail (on the "a la carte" menu, and figured I would add rice and beans since it was "a la carte". There was no rice and beans (a Caribbean restaurant at lunch) so I got the steamed rice (regret) but I wasn't charged for it. Only to find out that my "a la carte" 🤣 moxtails actually came with rice....again...a la carte. Confusing! Never the less I threw all the rice out. A pic is attached of the moxtails before I consumed. I literally got TWO pieces of "meat". TWO PIECES AND A BUNCH OF STEWED VEGGIES. $16+ FOR TWO PIECES OF MOXTAILS AND SOME NASTY STEAMED RICE! I also ordered a pumpkin patty which they served to the lady, along with her meal, who ordered behind me. Then they tell me I have to choose another because they just ran out. 🙄. A RIP OFF!!!!!!!!!!!! FOOD IS HORRIBLE.😵‍💫. BUT THE PATTIES ARE ON POINT. 🤤. I've visited other Jamaican Vegan restaurants on whiteplains rd and they are all 5 stars...one even getting 7stars from me because of the charm and welcoming staff. Avoid the "Oasis" if you can and trust the other reviews

Google
Truly fresh products! Shakes are absolutely delicious - thick, filling, NO SKIMPING ON THE INGREDIENTS!! Worth every dime!

Google
Delicious Jamaican Vegan food. I really enjoyed the ackee breakfast with the power porridge. The vegan patties are amazing.

Through My Eyes

Google
I've driven past this place for many years and recently stopped in for the first time! I was overwhelmed by the choices they have to offer, ranging from their food, as well as their supplements! The patties are to die for! Share this with someone who doesn't have an open palette and they wouldn't even think it's vegan! I'm absolutely in love with this place! It is very well kept and the staff's service is a1! Highly recommend!

Google
Unfortunately, this place no longer sells food!! Since the pandemic they don't have the delicious veg patties, the great vegan meals, the nourishing porridge or none of the things that I used to love about this business. The owner claims that no one wants to work. I don't know about that. This is a major disappointment to all the customers that once enjoyed this store. In my opinion they need to seriously re-consider their decision to not serve food! Maybe someone with more ambition will buy the store and restart the engines because as far as I know this place is stalled even though the doors are open. People definitely still love to eat that I know and there are not enough vegan options in that area of the Bronx or anywhere else in the Bronx for that matter. I used to drive about 6 miles just to buy those patties and other items they once had.

Google
The food was discussing , the rice was soggy and uncooked, the so called vegan ox tail gravy taste like a pound of sugar. I changed my order and it was no better. The rude nasty manager refused to give me my money back. I spent $18 and the portion was like a happy meal portion. I will never go back. I heard that this place is only good for the patties. They can't mess patties up because she orders them frozen and all you have to do is pop in oven. If anyone wants real authentic vegan food, go to, HIMM on white plains road in the Bronx.

Google
I hate to give this place anything other than 5 stars, but the owner was very rude. I ordered a patty that must have been sitting under a light to keep warm for hours and by the time I bought it, it was super hard on one side. At the end I asked to come back another day when the patty’s are fresh and he completely dismissed me and wasn’t polite at all. I try to support our businesses and I didn’t want my money back, but I deserve to be treated with respect, especially when my main purpose was to support our communities after driving 20mins for a patty. It’s ok, God bless!

Yelp
Black owned business alert! This was my second visit , my 1st visit I was super impressed..this time not so much. I ordered the vegan fish escovitch, peas and rice, and 2 patties (I can't recall which type) I didn't enjoy the food. The rice was crunchy, the patties lacked flavor, and the escovitch was just okay. The customer service was fairly exceptional except the staff allowed a friend in the establishment without a mask...during a pandemic! The gentleman pictured laughed and joked with staff for apx 10-15 minutes...with no mask...during a PANDEMIC!

Yelp
Service here comes with a smile and a lot of help, the guy who served me answered all my questions and then some. I got the rice and peas with pumpkin stew, and though their prices are on the higher side, the food was quite good. It was fresh and tasty, not overly salty like most places, I enjoyed this little hole in a wall experience, and I'm looking forward to trying more dishes. Enjoy! Stay healthy! Happy Yelping!

Yelp
Love this little place in the Bronx. Was up visiting Pelham Bay Park and decided to stop in. The exterior and interior are no frills. You order through plexiglass. Seems pretty COVID safe. Get the patties. Clearly their specialty. Was kinda disappointed with the teriyaki I got - bland! Needed salt and spices or maybe a sauce. But oh man, I would get all the patties - I had both lentil and chikn. Chikn tasted a bit like Lipton noodle soup and lentil was a gorgeous earthy salty flavor. Recommend!!

Yelp
*update 12/6/18* they close at 6pm now* Food is fresh, and creative every time I come. I usually stick to the same boring vegan meal, but this place has opened my tastebuds to, bbq ribs, cornmeal, porridge and many more veggies that I used to stay away from. There's so much here, from Vitamins, waters, teas and herbs and foods to makes yourself at home, you'll never be disappointed in the endless options of food and choices.

Yelp
Caribbean Vegan Paradise. Juice bar and Frozen Food section as well as Vegetarian products like veggie burgers, organic pastas. Super nice helpful staff and lots of street parking available. What calls me here is the excellent hot food takeout available with a changing variety of dishes, Ital stew, Eggplant melange, Pepper "steak", to name a few. Small, Medium and Large portions up to $11 in cost. Vegan desserts too!

Yelp
So I've been following a path to a new diet which led me to a vegan diet. After two months of cooking my own meals and buying stuff in the store, I needed to start venturing out and finding places that is close to my house to cook meals that are vegan friendly. I found a place close to my job via a friend who has been doing vegan diet for about five years now this place is amazing. To be honest with you I'm not accustomed to Caribbean or Jamaican Food but I was able to ask the server behind the counter which was what, as far as the hot food that was for lunch behind the glass. To my knowledge I had some curry pumpkin ,vegan ribs, rice and cabbage it was excellent the cabbage was a little hard but everything else was spot on. The vegan vegetable patty was amazing definitely going back there today.

Yelp
Block of breaded/fried tofu $2.25 Vegan Veggie Fritter Patty $1.10 Small Vegan Whole Grain Porridge $3.75 WHAT?!!! When do vegans EVER find prices this affordable!m?!! This place is a gem! They are very patient, efficient and kind! The porridge was tasty. I was able to choose between sweetened , unsweetened and "half and half". The small is filling! The block of breaded/fried tofu is perfectly seasoned. I ate it PLAIN and was blown away by how flavorful it was without any sauce or other additives!!! The fritter was a nice light, spicy kick. Not greasy or oily and very tasty too! A light crunch and little chewiness. Perfect balance! I am sitting here satisfied and delighted! The place was packed at 10:30am so I will take a leap and guess that if you get there in the later afternoon you may miss out! It seems they also change up their menu daily. Can't wait to eat here again!

Yelp
They are amazing. Just get there early because they sell out QUICK! Everything here is amazing. The Ackee patties are amazing. LOVE THEM!!!

Yelp
So disappointed! I tried their teriyaki chicken, curry bean curd and curry vegan chunks. Every thing had a heavy medicinal taste to it that make it very off putting. I also got a medium size platter and that ran me about $12, which comes with a grain and two proteins. The gentleman who was serving me was very relaxed and gave me a small sample of the bean curd because I was contemplating that the vegan chunks I was anticipating the food to have a lot of flavor, especially with the curry, but the taste is almost hard to bear. I wish I found it as good as other reviewers did.

Yelp
I was in Colorado for a while and got exposed to vegan food so when I came back to The Bronx I was in search for vegan spot to raid and to my surprise I found one not too far from my house the food was amazing I got the Curry seitan W/ stew lentils Brown rice and peas potato salad and dasheen also with a soy patty The second I bit into the Patty I knew I should've gotten more food The service is what you expect from older West Indians kind a snobby and rude but that's how you know the food is great all around
google avatar

Yelp
First time here, & my first time trying tofu curry and it was sooo good ! And the lentils patties also definitely going back for some food and grocery
google avatar

Davanh L.

Yelp
I had to give them 2 stars because of the customer service. The food is delicious but the young lady that works the food area is extremely rude for some reason. We aren't exactly sure why but we won't be coming back. It isn't the first time she has given us attitude either.

Yelp
A Vegan Oasis in the Bronx, NY, that is a destination to be sought out. This Mom and Pop shop, has awesome flavorful food to nourish your body! More good news! You can shop for your holistic needs too! So much flavor and so many positive vibrations eminating from inside. Seek it outl

Yelp
Delicious food, nice staff in a no nonsense strip mall joint. Also has a grocery and herbs/oils/vitamins.

Yelp
So many great things to say about this gem. Living in the Bronx is kind of hard to find places where I can get a quick vegan meal. that also Includes their delicious lentil patties which are heaven! So I'm glad this place is around. Pleasant people and quality alkaline products.

Yelp
I really like this place - it's one of the few places that actually carries ackee patties. I LOVE ackee but usually I only find it on menus, coupled with saltfish. Ackee is quite expensive (I've seen 14oz cans of it go for $7 or $8!) so I think that is what deters restaurants from serving it and customers from buying it. The ackee patties here run $3.50, which is significantly more expensive than the $2 callaloo, peas, tofu, or other patties, but I think they are worth it. I also had some food from the hot bar last time and it was pretty similar to the hot bars in all the Bronx Jamaican places - curried tofu, lots of faux meats, white pasta (similar to Chinese lo mein), and rice. I went with the BBQ tofu, which was good, the potato salad, which was also really good (so glad they have a vegan, mayo-based salad), and the eggplant, which was okay. The store is pretty well stocked with all sorts of canned, packaged, and frozen foods, plus lots of teas, protein powers, and vitamins. Like most small health food stores, the prices are a little high but it's the only option in the area so I am very glad they are here and offer so many items. NOTE: There is no dining area. You can only get your food to go.

Yelp
Simply put, Vegans Delight is an oasis in a desert where decent vegetarian and vegan options are few and far between. The service is very helpful and personable. I just finished my first lunch special here and it well exceeded my expectations. They have a number of hot entrees available for lunch and dinner and they are all tasty, Jamaican style. They can certainly hold their own against even the best hot food in the driving area such as Fairway and "International". They also have a decent selection of beverages and nutritional supplements. Anyone in the area, especially those with vegan and vegetarian diets, should definitely visit Vegan's Delight. In addendum, they have their own parking spaces which make visits even more convenient!

Yelp
This place is charming and totally unexpected in this neighborhood. Came in to kill some time before work one day and munched on their ackee patty and ordered a kale patty for later. They were really delicious and light yet filling. Most people come here for takeout but they have a small counter seating section by the window with an accessible outlet for charging devices and what not.
google avatar

Yelp
Patties have no flavor. Close whenever they feel like it, prices are over the top for basic things you can buy at Trader Joe's
google avatar

Napoleon M.

Yelp
If you want to take prescription meds, don't go here. This place provides herbal products for those who desire a healthier as alternative. The gentleman in this establishment really knows his stuff. I highly recommend you visit this place.

Yelp
I found this lovely small vegan convenience store / deli / buffet on a whim when I searched near a per diem job I picked up for kicks. Prior to this, I have had very little luck / experience with vegan food in the Bronx so I was "delighted" to find this just a few minutes away from my office. I walked in to find several shelves full of mock meats, vegan ingredients such as vital wheat gluten, Bob's Red Mill packages, an entire row of hot sauces (score!) and a buffet / by the pound area where they sell Ital-style food and patties. I got the vegan beed patty, a couple vegetable ones and the breakfast combo, a few hot sauces, some candies and misc other items and left paying under 30$! The food was great, it all tasted like it was made with love. And while we're on that point, the staff really seem to love what they do and take care of their customers. I had asked a couple questions about random items and the lady behind the counter insisted I try free samples. When I protested, she insisted further, when I offered to pay, she adamantly refused to accept money for the sample -- the sample behind an entire candy. Love this spot and I will definitely be back! The only drawback is that they serve honey on the shelves, which is not vegan per-say, but I know some don't necessarily agree. I would prefer to see them selling agave (which they do), vegan honey like Bee-Free, slippery elm, etc.

Yelp
Well worth is I swear this is it for me. The price GREAT the taste Great. Only thing about this place you have to eat After your works done cause you WILL be having ittis lol GREAT PLACE

Lily G.

Yelp
I've been there so many times and the food was delicious and I couldn't get enough. But last time I ordered during covid, I'm not sure if there's a change in the cook or recipe but it tasted watered down and bland. Now I'm debating whether I should try this place again based on my great past experiences or this one really bad time. Hoping it was just a bad batch.
google avatar

Becky M.

Yelp
I love this place. I love their vegan patties - ackee and lentil in particular - and all the food is cooked fresh. I also appreciate that they have vegan meat alternatives available that I can't get from whole foods or other vegan friendly stores without going deep into Chinatown. It's a real gem.

Yvette P.

Yelp
I was looking online for a vegan restaurant. and vegans Delight was the first one that popped up I'm so Glad it did. I love everything about this place the food is delicious. Give them a chance you won't regret it.

Yelp
I was in the area and found Vegans Delight on Yelp. Just what I was looking for. The stew and lentils were delicious and the service was friendly and professional. I had a delightful lunch and will definitely be back.

Tremaine O.

Yelp
I had high hopes and expectations going into this particular establishment. It's exciting to have vegan and healthy options in the Bronx and we need more of them. So I'm always rooting for eateries that strive to rectify our limited healthy food options problem. But I was let down mostly. This review is strictly for the hot food section. They have a nice little selection of different vegan dishes. The dishes I opted for were the plantains, boiled bananas, sautéed vegan chicken, super green porridge and a veggie patty. The plantains were pretty bad and the boiled bananas were so so. The sautéed vegan chicken was the best dish I had and I would recommend it. It's also the only thing I would return to get. The super green porridge smelled amazing. It had a spicy pungent aroma that seemed indicative of a dish bursting with flavor, but it had absolutely none. The veggie patty was pretty much an onion patty because that's the only vegetable I saw inside of it. It wasn't your usual veggie patty bursting with vegetables, it was extremely thin with only the aforementioned onions. Overall this place isn't anything to write home about, but it's better than nothing. Hopefully its existence inspires the emergence of more restaurants of its ilk in the Bronx.

Yelp
Food is excellent, if you are on a Daniel fast you will feel like you are cheating, the vegan minced meat if fantastic. They also sell a red rice that is soooo good full of nutrients and s absolutely delightful, takes a long time to cook, and is expensive, but it's worth it. Almost persuaded to become a vegan, I did say almost. But try it I'm sure you'll love it
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
I tried the sweet porridge and ackee patties and both were delicious I can't wait to go back.

Paulette P.

Yelp
Vegan delights does not cater to only vegans. The food is extremely good. The porridge is exceptional and extremely healthy. The most tastiest and clean salads.Try the patties they are extremely delicious also. A must visit location
google avatar

Tammy J.

Yelp
Best patties! Stopped by to finally try their food since I was in the area and by far the best patties I've ever had. The crust is delicious and the filling is delicious.

Kim B.

Yelp
The patties are amazing i recommend calloo. Their food is bland though.. they need to put more seasoning.
google avatar

Wotzvely D.

Yelp
This place is awesome Lil gem in the bx food is delicious and u can find a variety of vegan products
google avatar

Kay L.

Yelp
I was very excited to try this place but was disappointed. I ordered the fish, ackee, callaloo and vegetable patties. I also got the porridge. The patties were underwhelming and very scarcely filled for the price point. The callaloo patty was mostly crust and had no flavor which really upset me. I paid 3 dollars for more crust than anything. The porridge was the saving grace. It was creamy and had a nice cinnamon taste. I also checked out the dried veggie meat options and saw that they were ridiculously overpriced. I couldn't believe the prices. I was looking forward to making this a regular spot for me. Sadly I won't be back.

Yelp
What can I say that Cassandra hasn't said? I heard about vegan delight through their cakes. My personal trainer order the red velvet and it was sooooo freaking good. I finally stopped by. The setup is like a small grocery store with take out food and a juice bar. The food is the standard Caribbean fare: rice and peas, stewed/curried mock meats, potato salad, etc. I definitely plan to order a cake. They also cater.

Vanessa H.

Yelp
I give this place a big fat F!! For flavorful, fresh, friendly, fantastic, and f*cking delicious!!! Even the customers were friendly and happy to help me decide what to get!! I forget what they are called but they have these savory filled pastries that are out of this world! Buttery flakey crust, with a variety of perfectly seasoned scrumptious fillings. Legit my only complaint is that they aren't located anywhere near where I live. If you are anywhere near this place and don't eat here you're missing out big time!!

Angela H.

Yelp
Best vegan patties I've ever had!! I love the ackee patties... the filling is very favorable and the crust is flaky and light!
google avatar

Jamaal H.

Yelp
Solid Afro-Caribbean ital cuisine. They also have a diverse selection of organic/ homeopathic boxed cereals, snacks, and juices, a quality juice bar, a variety of roots and bitters based drinks, and vegan pastries. If you are in the North East Bronx and have a hankering for healthy food of the west indian variety in particular, and or in need of freshly prepared organic/ vegan prepackaged foods, drinks, pastries, and snacks check this place out. One last note, if you are buying a meal know that this place is strictly take out, and unless you are willing to park your rear on the side walk outside this joint there is no place to sit. Good stuff.
google avatar

Meeka A.

Yelp
Amazing electric food but was a bit pricey compared to Jahlookova. They also sell herbal supplements and other health stuff so its def one of my favorite spots. Service was okay.
google avatar

Ciara G.

Yelp
Omg yum! Everything is so good. The patties are on point!!!! They do not disappoint and the food is really good too and guilt free. The Bronx needs more places like these. The city gets all the good vegan spots. And the market inside is great too. I will always support this local business. And yes it's a bit pricy but it's because you're paying for quality, healthy food. Not junk and chemicals like the rest of the Bronx is fed.
google avatar

Honest R.

Yelp
Best selection of vegan foods! Very healthy and diverse selection. I especially love the hot bar. It might be vegan but it still tastes delicious and has a lot of flavor. Do not dismiss it since it's vegan food. The prices are great too. I like the vegan fritter patty. Mmm, yummy! The guy who works there is also very helpful and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this place!
google avatar

Kitty B.

Yelp
Fantastic. We ordered the large breakfast for $11.00, and it was plenty for two people. Really delicious vegan food with a West Indian character and spice. The kitchen was really clean (I peeked), and the man who waited on us was great - he put together such a nice mix of their breakfast offerings - kale, tofu scramble, white yams, seitan stew - really delicious, fresh and healthy! Don't miss the cakes - vegan carrot cake was moist, flavorful and really satisfying. They also have a very nice selection of healthy groceries - I'd be in here every day if I lived in the neighborhood : )
google avatar

Petey F.

Yelp
Its so good they have the best patties and the best hot food bar selection for vegan carribean food.
google avatar

Yelp
My go to place for soy and "fish"'patties. Super flavorful and the crust is one of the best yet!

Kaishia E.

Yelp
Okay so as a new (well im trying to) vegan i decided to run over here after work. I didnt go grocery shopping yet and i was starving. I decided to get the ackee patty which was 4 dollars and a tazo tea. The lady said the minimum to use a debit card is 10 dollars which is no biggie so THANK GOD i decided to buy the vegan banana bread. Now.. i agree theit little store is a bit over priced and the ackee patty was pretty empty to be 4 dollars. Truthfully it was just okay. But that banana breaddddddddd omgggggg i had to stop myself from eating the whole loaf. i highly recommend that loaf
google avatar

Steph Q.

Yelp
I'm keeping the star rating, but just wanted to make a quick FYI, the patties are not sold frozen. Whomp.
google avatar

Chris R.

Yelp
My fiancée and I have been meaning to come back here. Our first experience could not have been better. I have to be sure to mention that the woman at the register was such a lovely person; the type who you immediately want to become friends with. This is 100% authentic, delicious, carribean vegan food. They had stuff we've never even heard of, let alone tried before, but it was all delicious. Then there's the added bonus of it being a little grocery store. If you want to try a place that's going to invigorate your body, then look no further. This is food made with love for the sake of longevity.

Yelp
I went here for the first time Saturday and I liked it a lot. The workers were very friendly. I definitely will be going back!
