On the Grid : Vegetable

"This plant-based restaurant is a pleasure from start to finish. Walls are chalked thoroughly by local artists, sneaking in a veggie loving pun here and there, with succulents adorned throughout the space. As a dairy lover, I highly recommend fooling your taste buds with their delicious mac & cheese though the tomato basil soup is equally to die for. So stop on in and, as they like to say, get comfortable." - Blake Kathryn

A beautiful restaurant with nice food, but I'm uncertain the food deserves as much praise as other reviews seem to give. This might be because I am not giving bonus points for having so many vegan/gf options. Nonetheless, it seems like it would make a solid lunch-spot or casual night out, but will not impress someone seeking out stellar cuisine. Quaint and casual decor with great attentive table service. The menu is rather large and could probably use some refining or curation since some dishes seemed a bit redundant. The food had a beautiful presentation and seemed relatively thoughtful and well put together, but lacked the heart and craft of some of the better restaurants in the LA food scene. A touch over seasoned and sweetened in a few dishes made me wish they let the (presumably) fresh ingredients do more of the work in bringing flavor.

Okay, we’re vegetarians, so if you’re going to name your restaurant Vegetable, odds are we’re going to show up at some point. And so we did! Twice even…this most recent time was on Mother’s Day for brunch! I had the Maple Sriracha Hash Skillet…All four of those words are things which make me want to order a dish. I really enjoyed it…it has a spice to it but it was just the right amount to be a presence without taking away from the edibility of the dish. We got the grilled cheese for our kid without the tomato basil compote which I’m sure would have been awesome for our adult palettes, but not for our 9 year old. (And they weren’t willing to put it on the side. It says right on the menu “All modifications politely declined.” That’s probably our least favorite thing to read on menus. If you’re a person with a particular diet restriction, or a combination of diet restrictions, you often need to be able to change or modify an item so you actually eat it. For a place that is so clearly catering towards vegetarians, vegans, and with lots of gluten free items available, it was definitely disappointing to see this policy. That having been said, for the sake of our kid we were happy they were willing to serve the grilled cheese without the compote.) My wife got the Smothered Cruciferous Breakfast Scramble which she thought great and which came with, as she described “crazy good” cornbread. The coffee was good too. (Kind of an essential of you’re serving brunch!) It was served in a French press for three people, and the two of us coffee drinkers did very well with that. (And they put a little hour glass timer on the table to give us an indication of the recommended brewing time.) Our kids thought the strawberry lemonade was the best thing he ever had in his life. He also thought the lentil soup he got was really good. The space and food was comfortable. The server was friendly and we’ll be back.

This place was one of the best all vegetarian restaurants I have ever been too. There was such great food and everything tasted great. I ordered the Cream of Broccoli soup. I thought that it was delicious and not to heavy. We also ordered a side of broiled brussel sprouts that were carmelized perfectly. For a main dish we ordered a cauliflower dish and a dish with this bread thing that was also really good. For dessert we ordered the sweet potato pie in a jar with a coconut whipped cream. The dessert tasted like Christmas in a jar. 🥛🥦 🍑🥦 🥬🍞 🥔🥧

If you are in LA this is the right restaurant for you, especially if you are vegan. We had the - Double Chocolate Brownie - Pineapple Teriyaki Cheeseburger - Vegan Mac & Cheese - Bourbon BBQ Western Cheeseburger - Criss-Cut Waffle Potato Fries and everything was delicious. (don't judge, we were hungry 😋) Thank you for the delicious food, we would love to come back.

Google
The restaurant has a lovely rustic feel to it, with hewn wooden tables, a long communal table and several booths and high tops. I got there 30 minutes before the end of lunch service and was greeted by a friendly young lady who promptly seated me, have me a menu and some water. She explained the menu, daily specials and then gave me some time to look it all over. I went with the lunch special which is $20 and includes a soup, and two dishes. The butternut squash soup was exquisite. It had a beautiful texture and a hearty depth to it that had an earthy flavor. Not too sweet and nicely balanced. The skillet was nice, wth a fried egg on top, but I felt it lacked flavor. The fingerling potatoes were very substantial, and had a nice mix of slightly burnt and just right potatoes smothered with a cashew cheese and coconut cream. The combo was much too much food for me and unfortunately you can't share it, but if you've got a healthy appetite it should be just right! I'll come back to try a couple of other items, but I like the ambience and the service, si definitely a winner. If you like the review, please leave me a thumbs up to let me know... 😉

Google
Were visiting area for a show and decided to stop by at this location, only bcs we were traveling w/ a friend who is vegetarian. I felt lost since I am a meat eater *Growl*. But the food choice i made was tasty!!! Yet Simple, but good. I would def return again, it wold be my snack to go place, something to munch on before actual dinner. I had the Grill chees sandwich w a cup of tomatoe soup. But after this dinner, i felt i had eaten like 4 plates, i felt full. Here are some pics of the other plate.

I stumbled on this place going to SunCafe. I’ll tell you this, SunCafe will no longer be my frequent flier. This place is legit and so damn tasty. Tomato Soup. Outstanding. Sriracha Sweet Potatoes. Incredible. Mac and Cheese. Damn Tasty. Fresh Orange Juice. Perfect. Server was very helpful and friendly.

Google
Nice spot, plenty of vegan burgers, the bourbon BBQ beyond burger was great, very crispy bacon, absolutely amazing was the Kale mint chip shake made of homemade cashew icecream. Next time I'm going try their Mac n' cheese, it's made of quinoa pasta and cashew cheese! With burgers you can choose between vegan/non vegan cheese and there is also gluten-free bun option. The staff was nice. Edited review: I came especially for the Mac n' cheese, they were not having them, they just said that I came at the time when they were cooking it fresh and that it will last 40 minutes. It was worth to wait, it was very tasty and fresh! Thank you!

Yelp
Ok, hands down the best vegan mac and cheese in Los Angeles! I promise you, this was soooooo good, first bite I was immediately hooked. And get this: the noodles are made with QUINOA. So, I can literally eat this everyday is what I'm learning lol I also got the Kale and Avocado Quinoa salad which went perfectly with the mac and cheese. The homemade dressing was absolutely delicious and you can tell that this restaurant HAND MASSAGED the dressing into the kale. I don't think any other place even thinks of doing that ha! I can't wait to come back here and try some of their burgers! This place is absolutely #veggiebaeapproved

Yelp
I was driving around to find a vegan place in Studio City, something that's not a chain restaurant. Ok, the food was good. I ordered the Baja Avocado Burger. I would've wished for more avocado.. Cheese was $2 extra. My plate came with pickles and chips on the side. I tipped my register person 10% and paid around $21 for the (slim) double patty burger. That's pretty pricey. I can't say anything else about the place, the bathroom was closed and no indoor dining available. Service was alright.

Yelp
We got the five course Valentine's Day meal (prepared vegan) and it was spectacular! Start: - Wild Garden Tea: we got the three cup serving in a French press to share and it was the perfect amount to last us through dinner (and perfect because it was cold outside!) - Wild Mushroom Bisque: this was so heavenly smooth, hearty, and creamy. The soup is completely smooth except for small wild mushroom pieces. It's out of this world. - Roasted Vegetables Plate: really great mini platter of vegetables. Brussel sprouts, sweet potato, squash. Simple but delicious. - Nacho Cheesy Potato Au Gratin: I just call this "mac n cheese casserole, sub potatoes." Get this. - Spinach Lasagna Alfredo: somehow the chef makes it taste like something wildly healthy and wildly naughty at the same time. If you can't finish it, like I failed to do, it tastes even better the next day, as all true lasagnas do. One of my favorite things at Vegetable. - BBQ Roasted Cauliflower Wedge: Vegetable's housemade BBQ sauce is pretty special. It'll have someone like me - who HATES bbq sauce - scraping it off the plate. The cauliflower was cooked to perfection and the yukon potato and garlic mash was the star of the plate. - Sweet Potato Pie: I don't need non-chocolate desserts but this pie convinced me I need to reconsider my priorities. It's a Ratatouille fondest memory inducing of a childhood Thanksgiving. - Double Chocolate Brownie: this is me, this is who I am. This dish is mostly peanut butter ice cream, and that's the point. Best, creamiest ice cream on the planet (vegans for the win). The brownies are there to hold your hand through this mindblowingly happy experience. Vegetable is always amongst my top favorite dining experiences.

Yelp
"Guilt-free and comfortable food' is the motto at Vegetable. And I would say they stay true to their vision 100%. I popped in on a Saturday afternoon in between visiting my mother and my hair appointment. Both of these events are stressful, so I was looking for a heathy meal and calming environment. And I found both. Vegetable is on Cahuenga, right after Ventura Blvd. ends. I parked on the street (one hour meter) right in front and entered a soothing environment. My server Lauren brought a bottle of water and a glass at once, which was welcome indeed in the summer heat. She answered all my questions promptly, responded quickly to any requests, and seemed to know the menu inside and out. She's clearly welcoming of diners with special dietary needs and was able to explain each dish thoroughly. I let her know that I would be cheating on my vegan diet but not by too much. She understood completely. I started with a French press dark roast coffee (espresso roast) with almond milk on the side. So adorable that it's accompanied by a timer to let you know exactly when to press for maximum flavor! The coffee was rich and flavorful. Then came the Maple Sriracha Hash, topped with an organic egg. What a delightful dish, full of umami flavors and served in its own hot skillet. The yams and potatoes combined for a chewy, rich texture that completely satisfies. I also ordered the Herbed Focaccia French Toast on Lauren's recommendation. Served with whipped cream, butter, maple syrup and compote, this is one of the best French toasts I've ever had. The combination of savory herbed bread with sweet toppings absolutely works. And I was shocked that this dish is vegan! I wasn't told what the bread was dipped in (house secret?) but whatever it is, it works. A note about the ambiance: it's quiet and calm. Big band, swing jazz was playing in the background at just the perfect volume. Vegetable would be the perfect brunch place for folks that actually want to have a conversation (and some good food!) (And thanks again to Lauren for a wonderful experience, even more since she seemed to be the only one on the floor!) PS I heard they allow BYOB? Call to verify. No alcohol on the menu.

Yelp
This place deserves 5 stars... the reason it's getting 3/5? Because I miss the old restaurant and not the pop up. Being told they're still operating under "Covid vibes": pick up only... it's sad Come back old Vegetable! I keep trying to bring new people over to try all the delicious foods I've ranted about for too long now! COME BACK

Yelp
Two things: 1) The burger didn't taste bad. That's not the issue. It's just that the patties are reduced to a super thin size; it was thinner than my pineapple In my opinion, it's a rip-off. Even if I upgraded to the next size, which I'm glad I didn't, it'd still be a rip-off because it's not the "normal size" of a patty. I have no problem paying $18-$20 for a GOOD vegan burger, like the Impossible from Cheesecake Factory. It's a reasonable sized patty with FRIES. Don't waste your time paying for overpriced mediocre vegan food. I'd rather suggest going to Crossroads Kitchen, which is a fine-dining vegan restaurant, and is worth the price in my opinion. Sorry. 2) I admit that this is probably going to sound super petty, but I just couldn't make sense of the logic--as a paying customer, we're not allowed to use the restroom since they're not allowing anyone to go in the back at this time... (most likely due to covid) but the employee that took our order wasn't even wearing a mask. What are the chances we could spread covid while wearing a mask to the bathroom and washing our hands? I get it--a business can make their own rules and we just have to follow it, but... ‍ Couldn't help but notice the inconsistency.

Yelp
Wow was this place more expensive than I was expecting. *phew* It was good but not sure if it was entirely worth it? $50 for a double smash burger, vegan mac n cheese and a milkshake. I guess the tip added quite a bit to the final price, and not necessarily required, as the business only offers take out, not in person dining. But I try to help out small businesses in the service industry whenever I can so yolo. I didn't take any pics of the food because I was starving. BUT: The Vegan Mac- a little bland on flavor and the quinoa pasta definitely has more of a mushy texture than regular glutenous pasta. Would skip. The Bourbon BBQ Smash Burger- excellent flavor. Very filling. The rice bacon was a bit salty but surprisingly good. The burger patties were PAPER thin but also had really good flavor. All the other toppings really added a great finish to the burger too! $17 though.......... Kale Mint Chocolate Chip Shake- super sweet but really good. Couldn't really taste the kale. It was a thinner texture than a traditional dairy milk shake would be. It was also pretty large so definitely worth splitting with another person and slightly worth the $12.

Yelp
Been coming here since 2018 this place has always been clean in appearance, with friendly service, the food selection is varied as well as tasty and they have many different beverages to choose from as well.

Yelp
Their vegan burgers are our not-so-guilty, non-fast-food fast-food pleasure (lol). The food is always freshly-made and consistently-delicious! I always get the junior jalapeno burger (I have a teeny adult stomach) and my husband always gets the vegan double cheeseburger. The burgers come with chips, which are too salty for my taste, so I just swap it with their yummy crisscut fries which we're always happy to pay a bit extra for. PS. It saddens me that "In & Out" across the street always has a long-ass line. Support "Vegetable" instead, a local business that doesn't serve meat!Better for you and the planet!

Yelp
Truth be told, I'm not typically gung-ho about vegetarian restaurants. I was looking for a good spot in Studio City for a friend's birthday, so finding a delicious, casual dining spot where they could eat was the first priority. Pleasantly happy to say, Vegetable can hit the spot for anyone of all taste palettes! The avocado kale & quinoa salad was a winner - fresh and delicious, I walked away feeling proud for eating so healthy :) Service was pleasant with a smile (though unfortunately no free birthday dessert - next time!0. For parking, you can swing around the alley directly behind the restaurant to see if you can luck out on anything, otherwise, there's metered parking in front or you can do street parking in the neighborhood (note that it may likely be only 1-hour). Enjoy!

Yelp
Horrible place, not friendly guy on reception who is always late with my orders. Never go to that place P.s Next time don't put dislikes for delivery drivers, I can do same to your business

Yelp
This is a cute vegan/vegetarian restaurant that specializes in comfort food offerings. The food we ordered tasted average - portions were small for the price in my opinion. Will I return to try other options they have...sure but, there wouldn't be any urgency. Cheeseboard (pick 3, chef's choice): 3/5; I was expecting different variety of fruits and/or fruit spreads for a board that costs $22. Heart of palm ceviche: 2/5; really tiny and mediocre tasting; $9 Pan-seared king trumpet mushroom scallops: 4/5; it was one of the best tasting dish we ordered but, I was still hungry after splitting this with my fiance; $19 Key Lime tart: 5/5; a perfect balance of sweet and tart with coconut whipped cream served in a mason jar. Lemonade: 5/5; super refreshing and delicious.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants in the area! The menu options are incredible, especially considering my dietary restrictions/allergies. They are always accommodating and the food does not taste gluten-free. Most restaurants with GF item accommodations usually sacrifice flavor and/or texture-but not here! I wish I lived closer and could be a more frequent patron. Definitely one of my pitstops if I'm ever in the area! Yum!

Yelp
Totally recommend coming here. After eating here just once, I wanted to try everything on the menu. The Grilled and Chilled Market Salad was wonderful. Can't remember the last time I had such a filling salad. With lots of flavoful veggies packed in, this salad is definitely a meal itself. I also tried the Herbed Focaccia and Gravy. It was a struggle not to lick this plate clean. I love mushrooms and this gravy tasted like a a thick uber rich mushroom soup. Amazing. I also tried the Roasted Broccoli Alfredo. Again I wanted to scoop up every bit of this sauce. It was so creamy and flavorful. The chef who creates these dishes truly knows what they're doing. The food here was fantastic. But also our waitress Kailee was wonderful. She was friendly, attentive and took the time to chat with us. We didnt feel rushed at all. Definitely will be back.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Vegetable some time and I came her for lunch on a weekday and tried 3 things from their menu: SPICY BBQ SWEET POTATO SANDWICH l BULLEIT BOURBON & serrano pepper bbq sauce l red cabbage & heritage carrot slaw l cashew mayo l pickled onion l panini-pressed house-made potato bread SMASHED CHICKPEA SALAD SANDWICH l celery l red onion l heritage carrot l cashew mayo l sliced tomato l fresh whole wheat multi-grain bread TRUFFLED WILD MUSHROOM & BRUSSEL SPROUTS RISOTTO l organic arborio rice l whole roasted garlic l GRIFONE organic pinot grigio l shallot l parmesan l organic sweet cream butter l balsamic l chives Their Spicy BBQ sweet potato sandwich had a nice bite to it (no pun intended). That sauce had a nice spice and smokiness to it which complemented well with the sweet potato. And the crunch from the red cabbage and carrot slaw gave it a nice contrast. It's a winner! The Smashed chickpea salad sandwich was okay. I like that they gave a generous serving of the chickpeas but next to the Spicy bbq sweet potato sandwich and the Truffled wild mushroom & Brussel sprout risotto, it was pretty underwhelming. And speaking of risotto, you will definitely be missing out a on a foodgasmic experience if you leave Vegetable without trying their Truffled wild mushroom & Brussel sprout risotto! I mean, c'mon, did you see the ingredients?! Garlic, butter, balsamic, and organic wine--what more can you ask for? It's a foodgasmic-umami experience in your mouth. Great atmosphere inside with cute décor. Their Intelligentsia coffee is well-brewed and I love that they can make their dishes vegan too. The waitress (I didn't get her name) was courteous and attentive. The only downside is they are located on busy Cahuenga so parking can be a challenge. They do have a couple parking spots in the rear of the restaurant if you're lucky.

Jeff B.

Yelp
Vegetable is currently takeout only - if you're OK with that, give it a try. Burgers are flavorful, vegan Mac & cheese is surprisingly good, and service is quick. It's just a shame that their nicely furnished restaurant space isn't being used post-Covid.

Yelp
Heard about this place for a long while, finally got to try it. They are open for dine-in now, and have 6-7 tables outside, properly social distanced. Apparently they have a new menu - includes a few old favorites but added a nice selection of burgers. What to say about the burger (bourbon BBQ cheeseburger)... well, my husband took one bite and said it was the best veggie burger he'd ever had. The bun is really well crisped, and there were lightly fried onion rings that gave it a crunchy texture. The patty was different from a typical Beyond.. a bit special, really delicious. To put it another way: My husband and I usually share entrees, and he's normally very generous about it. But today, I only got 2 bites and he finished the whole rest of the burger himself (rarely happens). On that note, I wasn't too upset because my items were delicious too. I got the cashew mac&cheese, and the focaccia with mushroom gravy. Both very good, but I think I also prefer the burger. Will definitely order two burgers the next time we come. We also got the PB&J milkshake, which was awesome. I think I'll try the double chocolate one next time.

Yelp
WHY DO I LOVE VEGETARIAN / VEGAN PLACES SO MUCH. The name says it all: Vegetable. So simple. So blunt. So hip. My dad and I arrived here on a Sunday afternoon right when it opened. Our server was super nice and helpful in recommending dishes to us. We ended up ordering: BUTTERNUT SQUASH TOAST (5/5): This came out looking like two triangle pizza slices, actually. The texture of the "toast" was also more pizza-like and less toasty. I was blown away at how much I loved this dish! The butternut squash was generously slathered on top. It was sweet, fragrant, and refreshing. Definitely something you don't see everyday. Hipster LA vibe 5 stars. ROASTED WINTER SQUASH FUSILLI PASTA (5/5): Oh man!!! This was SO creamy and delicious, and completely guilt free. I thought that the squash would be scarce, just to garnish the plate. But no, there are substantial squash slices cooked with the pasta. The sage leaf sprinkled on top was the zinger - it gave the pasta such a unique flavor. Highly recommend this dish! HERB ROASTED PARMESAN VEGETABLE STACK (4/5): Now I didn't actually get to try the vegetables inside because this was my dad's lunch, but I got to eat the herb/sundried tomato bread that the sandwich came in. OH IT IS GOOD! The pesto gave it a nice flair, and the bread itself was chewy and full of flavor. I enjoyed this place a lot! Would come back for the risotto, though it takes 30 min to cook. Going to eat in Studio City always sucks because the parking is either street or residential.

Yelp
Literally your most basic, most store-bought, most generic offbrand vegan food you'll ever eat. Feels like my whole meal was bought at Vons or Ralph's. Oh, and to top it off The employees attitude was just straight up disrespectful. There's 1,000,001 better vegan restaurants in Studio City. Oh my gosh and last thing, the sauces are almost in edible. They're literally disgusting and have an extremely odd taste that I've never tasted before. Pickles are way off too.
google avatar

Yelp
Customer service has always been very very consistent here which is a huge plus. I feel the portion size dropped a few but overall the food is amazing. Our "go-to" is normally the roasted golden & red beet salad, balsamic charred brussels sprouts, and maple-glazed rainbow heritage carrots. The pricing is a bit expensive as others have mentioned hence why its careful "cost effective" choice selection on dishes.

Yelp
This was one of my favorite meals in LA! Our server Angie was so friendly and helpful and really made our experience that much better! We started with truffle Brussels sprouts, so good! And a vegan cheese board, highly recommend the Chardonnay cheddar! Most of their cheeses are made in house, which is always great! These were creamy and had great variety. For entrees, 2 of our party of 4, including myself, ordered the king trumpet mushroom scallops, one got the Philly cheesesteak sandwich and the other got the truffled wild mushroom risotto. While I did not try the risotto since she ordered it vegetarian and not vegan, she said it had great flavor and loved it! All the other dishes were vegan and absolutely delicious! So much flavor! Normally, restaurants just make everything salty and call it flavor, it was refreshing to taste the different spices. You can tell they care about their menu and ingredients as everything was exceptional! For dessert I highly recommend the peanut butter ice cream with brownie!

Yelp
I stopped in for some take out lunch based on some Yelp recommendations. This little place was charming and looked pretty cool inside with the decor. I was looking around while picking up my order and was thinking I would like to dine in sometime. Anyways I ordered the Duo of Grilled Cheese with Tomato & Basil Soup. Its' basically two half of grilled cheese sandwiches with each half on different types of bread. One had sharp english cheddar and tomato basil compote on grilled sourdough while the second half was monterey jack and sweet onion marmalade on grilled multigrain whole wheat. Let me say that while a grilled cheese duo may sound kinda plain, these were soo good. I had my order to go but even eating it 15 mins later is was still gooey and delicious. The deep grill marks gave great texture to the breads. The soup that accompanies this meal is perfect. Perfect for the sandwiches and would be perfect as a stand alone. The bowl was wide which was great for dipping the sandwich. The hostess recommended doing that and I did. I was very flavorful and not thin so it stuck to the sandwiches with each dunk. Ordering over the phone was easy and the hostess was friendly and helped with suggestions on the food. A nice experience eating from here.

Yelp
ITS CLOSED FROM 3PM and Opens at 5PM!! I came with my mom here to eat. We had a Chili Mac and cheese and the grill cheese sandwich with some soup to dip it in. It was all good. You can share the Mac and Cheese. It's A LOT! The place is cute, and CLEAN. The staff is super NICE. The food is good. The service was average. The coconut water was VERY GOOD! I would come to try other stuff with my friend, family or by myself. I want to come for BRUNCH.

Yelp
Good Go-To for my Vegetarian & Vegans who want a great burger and Fries. The food was really delicious and even though the owner, Jerry, was short staffed not only did he service us well but made sure our food was cooked properly. He was kind enough to let us eat inside despite him having a "Take-Out Only" policy due to his short staff. I say it time and time again, great service will go a long way, and he did just that. You're in for a great regardless of your dietary restrictions. Overall, 9/10

Yelp
Vegan gourmet at it's finest. We ordered the corn cakes, which sound a bit weird but WOW so delicious, so incredible! Must have. The price is up there but there aren't many places that can talk the talk and walk the walk. Also we ordered the broccoli Alfredo, so good, wow, new vegan standards for cheesy dishes. We finished off with dessert; a Blondie with banana bread icecream SO FREAKING GOOD. Took the heart of palm ceviche to go. That was the only one that was pretty average compared to the other dishes. Overall, if you're a vegan eater and appreciator, you gotta check this place out. The prices are high but the quality is really up there. Especially check out the corn cakes! Homemade lemonade was really good too! Cucumber was the flavor we were served.

Yelp
Something Vegan, something wonderful. We ordered here for our anniversary, which falls on Valentine's day weekend. We got the prefix and now all we can think about is the lasagna! Please put it back on your menu :) Also the little jars of desserts were amazing. Great vegan!

Yelp
This place was looking to be real promising and all but the food came up real short. And considering the price, it was disappointing. I enjoyed the potato salad and the burger but that was about it, and I feel like I could've gotten a lot more bang for my buck somewhere else. The grilled cheese sandwich had a weird taste and the fries were soggy. The onion rings were okay, nothing too special. The great thing about this place is that they have curbside pickup and the server comes out with your food right in front, which is super nice and convenient. But besides that, I don't think I'll be coming back for the food unfortunately.

Yelp
First of all I wanna start off by saying the smell of that place? UNBEARABLE! No wonder dining in was closed. Second of all the owner/manager was so unbelievably rude I couldn't believe my eyes and ears. My Mother got into an accident right infront if this restaurant and was severely hurt. So what I needed to do was go to all the restaurants near the accident area and ask if they had footage I can use to prove her innocence. I went in asking if he could help me and while I was speaking normally to him on the other hand he was giving me attitude. I'm assuming he wasn't really happy with me not being a customer and buying his store bought vegan food. So after he didnt help me even though his restaurants camera was the only hope we had, as it was the only one facing the direction of the accident. I walked out of there and he came after me yelling and CUSSING at me, calling me the B word saying "your just going to walk out?!" So I proceeded to walk towards my car ignoring him and he continued yelling and cussing at me. He had the AUDACITY to take out his phone and try to record me and my license plate. If you like getting disrespected, overpaying for storebought chemical tasting food, and getting a sniff of what seems to smell like a DownTown public restroom, this place is for you!! I wish I could give this place 0 stars.

Yelp
We were bummed that there was no dining there, because the patio looked cozy, but the food was truly wonderful. The burgers are not very big, but I kind of liked that. Everything is too big these days! But I mention it so you can order accordingly if you're a hearty eater.

Yelp
The best thing about my order was my side. The crinkle cut fries are delicious. The smashed cheeseburger had an odd flavor I didn't recognize thus making it less enjoyable.

Yelp
I loved this place! My servers were the absolute sweetest! The owner too actually. I'm not going to lie, the area is a smidge questionable. There was a man posing death threats to our second waitress waitress and we witnessed a robbery across the street. The owner went papa bear on everyone and hung around and sincerely made us feel safe. The place itself seems too nice for the area lol. I loved this place and can't wait to be back though! The food was spectacular, all food in the pic are gluten free and vegan. The burger was AMAZING. My server Allie is the sweetest gal you'll ever meet. Can't wait to try more menu items!

Yelp
I'm keeping this super short. We came here for dinner because my daughter-in-law is a vegetarian. We ordered a mixture of items: Bread & Spread Garlic Broccoli Alfredo Truffled Wild Mushroom & Brussels Sprout Risotto Pan-seared King Trumpet Mushroom Scallops Whiskey Peach Smoked Three-bean Chili Pressed Philly Cheesesteak Roasted Tomato & Fresh Mozzarella In my opinion, I ordered the best tasting dish, the risotto. It was creamy and filling. I knew the flavor profile so it wasn't extraordinarily exciting, but wholesome. My son ordered the most surprising dish, the Mushroom Scallops. It had the texture of scallops, but it was mushroom! I'm going to have to try making this at home! I'm probably nitpicking, but the one issue I had was the font on the menu. It was hard to read especially in the dim lighting.

Yelp
We discovered this place while searching the area for Vegetarian Food and we are so happy to have found Vege*ta*ble! Met the owner, Jerry, who has been vegetarian over 30 years and is committed to making DELICIOUS healthy dishes! We wished we lived closer so could eat here more often (we're from Indianapolis)...LOVED We had the avocado kale salad which is over the top. And don't forget to try the mint chip banana smoothie! A taste bud delight! You will not be disappointed!!

Yelp
Really, really enjoyed the experience here and grateful they allow BYOB. Keeping one star for the apprehension I felt in trying the place - reading the vitriolic responses from management here almost made me change my reservation. I was celebrating a friend's birthday and didn't want it spoiled by rude service. Thankfully we pressed ahead and even found a parking spot right out front (but beware, it IS only street parking along the very busy Cahuenga). Everything was delicious, but I can't recommend the Bread and Cheese boards highly enough. We are both gluten free and we almost started crying with how delicious the bevy of breads were. Plus the artichoke cheese spread, tapenade and jam - such an incredible treat. We followed that with both the Mac n Cheese and the Lasagna with a side of carrots. We were underwhelmed by the lasagna at first, it seemed heavy on the ricotta, but taking it home as left overs was a huge treat. Even better the second time. That Mac n Cheese was a thing of taste bud heaven - perfectly creamy, amazing texture (solid GF shells are hard to find) and the tomatoes on top were a delightful touch. The carrots could have been dessert they were so sticky, syrupy delicious. Our meal ended with the blondie brownie and a scoop of vanilla ice cream that was far from ordinary. You can taste the perfection of it being freshly made in house. All in all it was a wonderful visit, but I do understand why they get frustrated with children - it's a small space that lends itself to hearing others' conversation. So when a child runs amok or is loud it really does impact the entire restaurant. I'd suggest leaving them at home or ensuring they're as well mannered as military children. Looking forward to a return visit and sharing this gem with my fellow gluten free friends and plant based connoisseurs.

Yelp
We are so excited that we found this place! My best friend has severe allergies (gluten, dairy, soy) so going out to eat can be a little daunting. However, she could have almost everything on the menu here! We had the cheese platter with all vegan cheeses, and my husband and I honestly couldn't tell the difference between that and regular cheese. My salad huge, and the presentation on my husband's eggplant Parmesan was beautiful. The location is in great proximity to the Hollywood Bowl and Universal Studios. If we are back in this part of LA again, these carnivores would not hesitate to return!

Yelp
Tucked away at that tail end of studio city off Cahuenga... Vegetable is a fun atmospheric experience with a rustic modern gastro cafe vibe... if that makes sense... lots of dark neutral colors with bright to medium wood tones about... tables are pretty close together so you make additional friends fast. Everyone seemed super great when me and a friend met up for dinner. We started out with the vegan Hearts of Palm Ceviche appetizer and were more than zested with a balance of rich taste. My friend did the vegan Mac & Cheese... which was a little more Mac than non dairy cheese... not too creamy (though I prefer more cream)... yet feeling and truly enjoyable. I did the vegan Pressed Philly Cheesesteak , which I can still taste on my palate... one of my two favorite vegan Philly's... +90% of vegetable is made with raw ingredients and more than half the menu can be made or is vegan friendly... The beverages were refreshing... Orange Juice for me as I was craving some fresh Vitamin C... so fresh it was. We saw a lot of other great things come out like... The vegan cheese plate... have to go back and devour it just to say I did... PLUS you can byow (bring your own wine...) just call ahead. Parking wasn't to difficult (street) and the bathrooms were clean... all in all this is definitely a spot to do more than once. Recommendations required if more than two people.

Yelp
I used to love this place, but now as I come it seems more and more empty every time. They have a great menu and it's delicious food, but their "no substitute" policy is down right silly. We asked for no walnuts due to a nut allergy, this is something they add on top at the end. They said no, and we need to pick them out ourselves. Last time I come to this place. I understand when it's cooked into the sauce or crucial to the taste, but it's just offensive when the place is empty and they literally just throw it on top. Again the food is great, just hate the way they are so inconsiderate.

Yelp
The Meateater BF and I went to Vegetable on the first day of DineLA. Because it was DineLA, I was expecting to receive pretentiously small servings. But to my surprise, we had a deliciously filling meal with leftovers to spare. If you're reading this during DineLA week, I highly suggest taking advantage of the $39/person five course dinner deal. We saved at least $11/per person because of DineLA. Here is the DineLA menu: http://bit.ly/1WNecZo Between the Meateater BF and myself, we ordered the following: - Tomato Basil Soup http://bit.ly/1NzojKj - Red Bean & Corn Tortilla Soup http://bit.ly/1K9NTdT - Hearts of Palm Ceviche http://bit.ly/1KE7IoK - Cheesy Fingerling Potatoes http://bit.ly/1NzohSu - Grilled Moroccan-Spiced Cauliflower http://bit.ly/1K9NY1e - Herbed Focaccia with Gravy http://bit.ly/1PRwALn - Wild Mushroom Farro Risotto http://bit.ly/1PCFu53 - Saffron-Infused Savory Corn Cakes http://bit.ly/1K9NIiO - Blondie with Peanut Butter Ice Cream http://bit.ly/1Sa21qH - Pumpkin Pie in a Mason Jar http://bit.ly/20rNyHv Our first course was the soups. http://bit.ly/1KE7TQE Both delicious although the Red Bean & Corn Tortilla Soup was more of a bean chili topped with tortilla chips. Still good but I think my taste buds preferred the Tomato Basil Soup. There was a flavor in there that kinda reminded me of tea. Probably from the oregano. Whatever it was, it was delicious! Second and Third courses came out fairly close together and it was a lot of food! http://bit.ly/1OOgnsC The serving sizes were much bigger than expected. Grilled Moroccan-Spiced Cauliflower was full of flavor although not very memorable. My favorite was the Herbed Focaccia with Gravy. Mmmmm, the mushroom and sweet onion ragu was heaven for my mouth! Even though the gravy covered the focaccia, I could still taste the herb flavor coming through. The Cheesy Fingerling Potatoes had this yummy nacho cashew cheese sauce that was so creamy. I also loved the Hearts of Palm Ceviche. Light and refreshing flavors which brought a nice contrast to the heaviness of the other dishes. It came with a side of Srirahca Popcorn that we weren't sure what to do with. http://bit.ly/1nOgfAu But eventually we used it as a topper for the ceviche. Fourth course continued to impress us. The Saffron-Infused Savory Corn Cakes are pan seared and it slowly soaked up all the goodness of the balsamic reduction. The Wild Mushroom Farro Risotto, although not originally vegan, can be made vegan. Three types of mushrooms (shiitake and I think crimini and portobello) blended surprisingly well. Even though I could taste truffle oil with each bite, I could still taste the distinct flavors of the different types of mushrooms. Fifth course ended our happy meal on an even happier note! The Blondie was crisp and doughy. The Peanut Butter Ice Cream was perfectly rich. The Pumpkin Pie in a Mason Jar was trifle-like with a layer of granola, spiced pumpkin filling, more granola, and topped with whipped cream. It's my new favorite thing in life! :) Service was friendly and fairly quick. Atmosphere is rustic-hipster and lighting is a bit romantic. Our dinner was amazing and delicious! The Meateater BF inhaled all of his dishes and made a significant dent in my dishes when I was starting to get full. My leftovers were just as tasty the next day too. I foresee many visits to Vegetable in my future :)

Yelp
Covid - 19 date night with my wife. We practice social distancing and trying to flatten the curve but not the belly. We were planning on eating here for quite some time, and here we are, eating takeaway in the laundry room as if it is a restaurant. The food is so darn good that if we squint we can imagine we're in a chef restaurant. And why not? Were did takeout from a chef grade restaurant. The food survived the travel well. It is tasty and luxurious. Thank you vegetable for the great risotto, excellent cauliflower, amazing strawberry salad, yummy sweet potato and delicious Brussels sprouts. And especially to the nice girl that took our orders and recommended everything we ate today. It was deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelicious

Yelp
Love Vegetable! Wanted to come here prior to Covid and never made it. Have been twice for takeout and it is incredible. I am vegan and have a severe soy allergy and can comfortably eat AND enjoy their food! Rare find. And the staff is very friendly too!

Yelp
Wish I could give this no stars. The owner or manager Jerry is extremely rude to customers. He didn't even give us the opportunity of coming inside and came outside cussing and said that this was for healthy and vegan people. I feel discriminated

Yelp
In a hurry so this will be briefer than normal. Convenient studio city location. Friday night visit at 8pm. Street parking was relatively easy to find. The restaurant decor is "Restoration Hardware" style and has comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. About ten patrons at the time. Plenty of seating available. Benches are wood which looks great but not that comfortable. The waitress promptly greeted us and was very friendly. She was very knowledgable about the menu which was great since I always have a million questions. We (party of 2) had the sampler platter, chili soup, portabella mushroom cap plate and the corn cake plate. All were good. If you are looking for food with a kick, then the jalapeño snack and corn cake plate are for you. Solid 4.

Yelp
This is place is rustic, well decorated, and cozy. The food lends itself to whatever your dietary restriction may be which is great news. Your best bet is to order the lunch special at $20 because you'll get 3 courses. I ordered the portabello soup, cheesy potatoes, and butternut squash soup. My friend ordered the tomato bisque, broccoli, and Mac & Cheese. Drink: Match latte with almond milk. Dessert: Brownie & Peanut butter ice cream. Winners: everything but the Mac and cheese. The best thing I've ever had: Butternut squash toast. It's creamy, savory, and you cannot get enough. We ended up sending the Mac and cheese back for another toast. It's amazing. Definitely coming back. Service is great and there's parking around the corner of the place!
