Veggie Grill Vegan Restaurant Chain Opens in Harvard Square, Cambridge - Eater Boston

"Veggie Grill, a California-based vegan restaurant chain, is opening in Harvard Square this Sunday, October 13. The restaurant will be housed inside the space at 57 John F. Kennedy St. once occupied by Wagamama. Veggie Grill, which has 30 locations spread out across California, Oregon, Washington, and Illinois, serves a vegan and largely gluten-free menu, including a Beyond Burger. Diners can snack on other vegan options like zucchini noodles, falafel, various tofu dishes, various salads, and tempura green beans. “We conducted market research, and our findings showed that there are a lot of mindful veggie-centric guests in Boston who are looking for our craveable plant-based food,” a representative from the restaurant told Eater via email in 2018. “In addition, our CEO Steve Heeley lived in Boston for many years and is very familiar with the market.” Veggie Grill’s new space is 2,500 square feet and can accommodate up to 40 diners." - Terrence Doyle

Joseph made my visit five star x2. I only planned to stop in for a few smoothies for the family, yet I walked out seriously impressed. The food? Super fresh and full of flavor. What really stood out was the service. Joseph was just great. Friendly without being pushy, genuinely helpful, and clearly cared about the experience I was having. He gave solid recommendations, that I followed to the T. I ended up getting the Green Glow Up, Tropical Tonic, and Banana Berry smoothies, all refreshing. For my GrandBlessing, I ordered the chicken tenders with fries (they’ve got other sides too). I asked if we could swap the lemonade for an Honest Apple Juice, and Joseph didn’t even blink, he simply made it happen. I couldn’t leave without a few extras: Truffle Mac & Cheese, a piece of carrot cake, and a chocolate chip cookie. The order came to about $52, made easier with the 20% student discount (MPA perks, thank you very much). For plant-based food that’s made fresh and actually tastes good, was worth every dollar. When I got back, everyone had compliments upon their tasting. Joseph, thank you. You made that quick stop into something I’ll remember. I’ll definitely be back before heading back home. To the Harvard grad who helped carry my GrandBlessing’s stroller down the stairs: may Blessings follow you everywhere.

Google
What a much needed option for vegans! I was always so jealous of my friends on the west coast who would rave about Veggie Grill, then I moved to the Boston area a few years ago and found out there was a location nearby. I’m not a vegan but will generally lean that way when given the option to do so. Especially this style of fast vegan food. It wasn’t too long ago that this was a pipe dream. I’ve been here a few times now and each time I order something different, and everything has been lovely. This last time, I had “the Gobbler”, a fantastic Thanksgiving themed sandwich which did its job as a I quickly fell into a coma when I got home. I’ve gotten the Mac and cheese a few times. While good, it’s more of a Mac & creamy garlic sauce. Excellent service with such a kind staff, so helpful! Very clean too! Can’t wait to go back!

Love love the food here! I want to eat everything on the menu! Everything is so fresh and has delicious unique flavors—you have to try it!

Google
We go inside with big family (7 people) but the staff takes care us absolutely carefully. Shout out to the service!!! About burgers, only two word: ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. Our favorite pick today are: Crispy cauliflower and Buffalo Bomber 💚

Google
I’m half way through my kimchi bowl while writing this review because it’s so delicious! Perfect balance of crunch, bright flavors, hearty texture from the “steak,” acid from the kimchi and pickled cucumbers, and chock full of veggies. Great portion size for $15, and there’s a 20% student discount. Staff are super friendly and helpful in providing recs. There is plenty of seating in this fast-casual style all-vegan spot. Can’t wait to try more!

Google
This is a hidden gem in Harvard Square! Extensive vegetarian menu, generous portions, good price and tasty food. What else do you need! We had a buffalo salad and a steak salad and both were fully veggie and DELICIOUS! Can’t recommend more!

Delicious, healthy food and smoothies. Very friendly staff. Will definitely be coming back.

Google
When Veggie Grill first opened, I raved about it, the food was flavorful, the portions were generous, and the staff brought such a vibrant, welcoming energy. I especially remember a staff member who knew everyone’s name and made every visit feel personal. Unfortunately, things have shifted. The quality of the food has noticeably gone down. The chicken tenders no longer have the same taste or texture, and the mac and cheese has changed for the worse—less flavorful and with a noticeably smaller portion that doesn’t justify the price. While the staff is still pleasant, the vibrant energy that once made this location stand out feels like it’s faded. On a positive note, I do appreciate that they’ve added smoothies to the menu. However, I think the quality could be improved, and it would be great to have more transparency. Adding nutritional facts to the website—especially for those tracking protein or macros, would make a big difference for customers trying to eat healthfully. I still support the mission, but I hope to see a return to the quality and atmosphere that made Veggie Grill such a standout in the first place.

Yelp
As a vegan I am obsessed with this place! My kid loves it too! Very kid friendly. We go there often. Today we had a friend with us and she wanted to try a sample of the kids macncheese so the manager Manny literally made her a small order, like he cooked it for her just to try it!!! Of course she loved it. Seriously the people who work here go way above and beyond. The new smoothies are incredible. I can never find a smoothie I actually like and these are perfection. Apparently they are made with all organic fruit! I always get the mushroom tacos as now I am also gluten free. I crave them on the regular. The buffalo wings are amazing. 10 stars for this place!!

Yelp
Edited to Add- Veggie Grill reached out and offered a partial refund and gift card in response to the inedible food. I'm impressed with their customer service and will give them another try in the future! Wifey and I have been stopping here for a quick bite quite often. Overall, the bowls and burgers are pretty good. My only complaint is that the burger buns could use an upgrade, they're crumbly and fall apart. The holiday feast, however was terrible and completely inedible. When prepared according to instructions, the veggie sides were more raw than anything else. And, the rest of the meal was so badly over-salted it was inedible. I'm someone who likes salty food, but after three bites my tongue was burning. It was a very sad Thanksgiving for sure. If anyone reading this gets the holiday feast - it might be helpful to steam the green beans and carrots to tenderness before preparing them according to directions. And just be aware ahead of time that the Wellington is basically seasoned quinoa wrapped up in puff pastry!

Yelp
This place was a really great 100% vegan restaurant. It was the best post Pilates meal. They had a fabulous Thanksgiving sandwich called The Gobbler. The Fiesta Bowl almost tasted like actual meat which was kinda crazy and the Far East Thai Chickn Bowl was super delicious and was in a great curry sauce. They offer two sizes for salads which is great too. I didn't like the Mac and cheese but I'm not a huge fan of vegan cheese in general so if you like that you may like their Mac. The staff was friendly and the inside was bright and clean.

Yelp
Love the entirely plant-based menu and variety of options for sandwiches, bowls, salads, and more! I tried the pesto chicken parm sandwich ($12), which tasted amazingly crispy, saucy, and flavorful. However within 1-2 hours of finishing, I became nauseous and had a bout of diarrhea, and unfortunately suffered a bit of food poisoning. Hopefully just a one time instance as I enjoyed what I got. Service was good, and the food came out in about 10 minutes. Also they provide a 15% student discount which is a plus!

Yelp
I've never actually eaten at this restaurant. It's always been a takeout order situation, but I'm really really impressed with all the choices. I love their nachos and the great selection of all the other choices. They listen to my specifications which to me is the most important thing. Good Job!!!

Yelp
Dined in and the place was empty. Friendly staff. Ultimate mushroom burger was difficult to eat, it kept falling apart. Mac and cheese was okay but soupy. Entrance under construction.

Yelp
SO GOOD. I had catering from here and tried the mac n cheese, ranchero beans, chickin tacos, and sliders. Everything was insanely tasty (and all vegan/plant based!)

Julia L.

Yelp
Great service, and incredible vegan options. Stopped here, got my food very fast, and then got Boba at a restaurant right next door. Great area with many shops to explore-- and Veggie Grill's food never disappoints!

Yelp
I tried their food at the Boston Veg fest and oh wow how amazing the food was and even more amazing the staff interaction. Everyone was pleasant even in the midst of a chaotic food fest but the food was still hot fresh and yummy! I had meatballs, their falafel pizza and everything was just so good! Definitely recommend!

Yelp
This place was NOT busy at all which made me sad because their food is delicious! I had a buffalo "chicken" wrap and it was amazing! The wrap itself was really thin, chewy, and a little bit charred. The plant-based chicken was hot and crispy which made a perfect contrast to the fresh and crispy vegetables. The menu is a great variety of more healthy options like salads and grain bowls combined with more indulgent options like burgers, fries, and mac 'n' cheese. All 100% vegan! The prices are quite good for the Harvard Square area, my wrap and drink was under $15. The space is huge, clean, and inviting. The service was friendly and fast. Overall I would definitely come back for an affordable, fast casual vegan meal!

Yelp
Very friendly servers, also very helpful. Clean bathroom, big space seems ready for throngs at Harvard. Incredibly delicious sandwiches, bowls, soups, and especially the desserts are to die for! Everything is vegan, which is insane and fabulous, this place is changing the world in a great way. Went out of my way to do more business with them, buying food to take out and gift cards, they gave discounts and suggested the app for more discounts. Amazing they could not do any better!

Mike C.

Yelp
We enjoyed our dinner here and would happily go back many times if we only lived in the area. The ambiance is nothing to write home about, but the service was friendly and the entirely plant-based menu was exciting. The steakhouse burger was fantastic (meat-lovers would be fooled) and it was oozing with caramelized onions. The supergrains salad was packed with tasty elements. Everyone liked the fries, but the sweet potato fries were an even bigger hit than the regular fries. A lentil soup was rated as pretty good. The only miss was the mac & cheese, which was on the liquidy side. I encourage others to give this a try!

Kim L.

Yelp
The crispy Chicken Caesar salad wrap here is phenomenal! It tastes so light and clean and not oily from the crispy chicken.
google avatar

Yelp
Have been to this restaurant twice months apart and they are consistent. I am careful with giving five stars but this place definitely deserves it. The staff is friendly in the way all restaurant should be. The food is made to order and is fresh and nicely prepared. This is the kind of place where your burgers will look like something out of a magazine-presentable and worthy. Place is overall clean as are the bathrooms. You order at counter and food is brought to your table. A must go to place.

Yelp
This place is delicious. Ordered online and order was ready at promised time. The Buffalo Chick'n Salad was fresh, the right amount of crunch and amazing flavor! Added bonus, employees were delightful. I am on vacation for four more days and will definitely stop by for another lunch!

Yelp
Possibly the best veggie burger and fries in these here United States. This vegan restaurant offers healthy and exceptionally tasty vegan offerings. The people who work here are the nicest people you'll find anywhere. They genuinely care about protecting animals. I was here for the first time for my birthday, and they surprised me with a delicious complimentary chocolate dessert.

Yelp
I ordered lunch from here today! Haven't been for like 6 months! Ordered the Steakhouse Burger and the mac & cheese regular size and strawberry lemonade! The plant-based burger was very good! The mac & cheese is excellent and creamy and the pasta is cooked well not overcooked. The strawberry lemonade was first off handled with so much care! It wrapped and a 2nd wrap around the top of the drink then wrapped over that! I appreciate the Lil detail with the prep and it's done every time as it was the last time I ordered from you'll. Your food is excellent and the presentation is excellent! I've received orders from other take-outs and it's a mess. Thank you for that! It's an extra reason to come back and recommend to friends to try your establishment.

B M.

Yelp
We had the burger and the vegan bowl. Both were good. The burger bun can be better. This place has a lot of potential to serve awesome vegan plates. The service was wonderful. The environment was a typical cafe environment

Yelp
Best nachos I've ever had! Harvard Sq store never disappoints, I was introduced to this new menu by Manny (manager of this store). These nachos are super tasty, honestly they're so good, and I'm normally super picky. I'd say this is a 10/10. You gotta try it! Another of my fav is mushroom tacos, IT IS DELICIOUS!!! I've been a customer of this store for years now! Again they never disappoint, the manager always makes sure you're satisfied with your purchase! I gladly would keep coming to veggie grill !!
google avatar

Nicole D.

Yelp
I wish I could've stayed longer in Boston to try out their different dishes. Even though their Más Nachos were a little dense on the sauce for me, I can see myself eating here everyday. Soooo many plant-based options to choose from, it's amazing. A suggestion for the nachos would probably just be to add a chunky guac with a whole lotta lime. I'm also very biased when it comes to citrus, so take that as you will. Would come back next time I'm in town!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious and quick. Variety of healthy food. I'm so glad they have opened up in East Coast! Hopefully they will expand to more towns in Massachusetts.

Yelp
Veggie grill buss as hell, everything is a banger and well priced, good proportions, open late which is awesome. Highly recommend

Yelp
The best veggie place in the town also very convenient for transport to use trains and buses and the hub of Harvard sq specially to walk around

Yelp
Read this as a 3.5-star review. After my initial disappointment, I was invited back by its Customer Service team for a second visit. This time around, I got the Sonoran Bowl, Mondo Nachos, and Sweet Potato Fries. They definitely taste better than my Tacos. However, I still had to use a lot of salt and pepper for flavor. My friend, who got a burger with fries, also added more salt to her dish. I am glad that the management team does care about Yelpers' opinions. So I will give it a 4-star review for that. Now that I have the Veggie Grill app, I think I will pay a visit on future days when they offer deals like $9.95 for burger + side. Otherwise, the regular pricing is still too high, in my opinion. But, Harvard Square's rent is very expensive, so understandably customers will have to pay for rent money. There is minimal street parking (and the parking garage nearby is costly), so better take a bus here if you are not from the Cambridge area.
google avatar

Yelp
Taste: more like a 3.5 Service and quality: 5 I wasn't expecting such a large crowd at 1pm for lunch today, but I guess there's been a lot more popularity on plant based eating nowadays. I eat meat, but I also don't mind the occasional veggie only meals. VG offers a wide range of fast casual American fare like burgers, sandwiches, salads, warm bowls, soups, and tacos all made vegan. I didn't extensively go through each menu item, but I prefer veggies or tofu over mock meats because I find that mock meat always has a slightly off flavor that I don't really like. When browsing, I found that most of the entrees include mock meat. Still, I wanted to give the buffalo chicken sandwich a try to see how close it was to the real thing. I ordered to go on the kiosk which is super convenient. You can also order here for eat in if you don't want to talk to someone but they also have a counter with an employee if you prefer the traditional ordering system. I waited around 15 min for my order which seemed slightly long but there were a lot of people and they seem to make everything fresh (or at least finish it so that everything is still hot). The employee (possibly the manager?) who called out my name was super nice, read over the order to me before he handed the bag over, and gave me an extra cup of ketchup when I asked with a smile. I later looked at the order sticker on my bag and it looks like every order is checked for accuracy before it is packed up! My sandwich came with a generous helping of hot crispy fries, and the sandwich was huge. I was slightly disappointed in the texture of the chicken patty as it tasted really soft (and still has that mock meat flavor that I'm not used to) but it really looked like chicken. If I were vegan I think I would be really happy but since I do eat regular chicken I could tell the difference. I think I would have also preferred more buffalo sauce and ranch dressing to "mask" the patty taste. I enjoyed the meal, but wasn't super wowed. However, it was enjoyable enough for me to come back and try the other items. I wonder how the beef or fish will taste?
google avatar

Logan D.

Yelp
Pros: -Huge amount of vegetarian options that even meat eaters will like -Order ahead -Portions are large enough to split into two meals Cons: -Expensive -Required to get a side with a sandwich. I'd much rather pay less for the sandwich and get no side! -No parking -- The Veggie Grill breaded "chicken" is pretty good, though it's not crispy and mostly tastes like soft bread. The carne asada is also good! I'm not a fan of the beyond burger so I stay away from that. Recommend: Santa Fe Crispy Chickin' ($10.95) Buffalo Bomber ($11.25) Carne Asada Burrito ($11.95) Don't recommend: Gluten-Free Chocolate Brownie ($3.95) Not bad but not great. Mostly crumbly. Has chocolate chips. Crispy Fries ($4.50) Not good. Unseasoned potatoes. Avoid!!

Alana M.

Yelp
Manager Manny is amazing. Kind to staff and employees (delivery too). Always goes above and beyond and deserves a lot of credit. Delicious vegan food with good GF options. I'll be back.

Yelp
When a new place up in the area, you sure bet I'll be down to give it a try :-) As a meat-lover, I was curious to see what this place has to offer and if it could appeal to all sorts of people--vegans and non-vegans alike! I ordered the Bulogigi Beef bowl and found it to pretty good in terms of taste. I was really surprised that my "beef" tasted really similar to meat and if you had not known this was a vegan place, I think I would be pretty convinced that I was actually eating the real thing. My only complaints about this place are that I feel as if my serving size is not worth the money I am paying for a meal here. Maybe I was just super hungry the day I went, but I ate every last bite of my bowl and was still left a little unsatisfied. I think this is a big reason why I wasn't exactly wow'ed by this place. Don't get me wrong, the food is good but serving size + price tag are enough to deter me from coming back here too often. However, I also understand that most vegan places tend to be on the pricier side, so I won't let these factors prevent me from coming back here every again!
google avatar

Lotus E.

Yelp
Five stars for being a fully vegan restaurant and open until 11 PM- this place was a lifesaver after a long flight that got in late. The Lemon Raspberry cake was so delicious. The Harvest Bowl was very large, fresh, and extremely filling, but it could use a bit more flavor. The smokey corn soup was really good. I hadn't been to a Veggie Grill in a couple years, and I'm happy with the updates they've made to their menu! The service was great and very prompt. Sometimes I avoid going to places right before closing due to bad service, but you don't have to worry about that here. They're happy to help you!

Claudia J.

Yelp
Food excellent, completely exceptional . The customer service 200%. This is one of the few places that has the customer service down. I give a big shout out to Isabela and Joseph they had patients they care they explain everything and all ways with a smile. They kept asking if we needed anything exceptional customer service. Yelp
This was my first time at a Veggie Grill, and it did not disappoint! The selection is huge, and everything we ordered--tacos, salad, burrito, and cookies--was on point. I particularly liked the Baja fish taco. The plant-based fish was perfectly crisp and everything else in the taco complemented it beautifully!
google avatar

Bee E.

Yelp
Let's start off with the staff, every visit the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. I'm not exaggerating when I say they may be the nice staff of any restaurant I've ever been too. There's one guy in particular who might be the manager (longish black hair) who goes above and beyond to make sure you're enjoying your visit. Now the food, I've never eaten anything here I didn't enjoy. The deli sandwich is amazing, the Reuben is amazing. I do miss the Buffalo chickn salad I'd get religiously but you know what, I bet they'd make it for me if I asked . Just try everything it's all so great!!!

Joe G.

Yelp
I love anything plant-based but the nachos and everything we ordered were exceptional. We got grubhub, but Im looking forward to going in person some day.
google avatar

Kes S.

Yelp
Food here is absolutely delicious. Not sure if it is a bit on the pricey side for certain dishes/quick eats but definitely worth it. We have been blown away by the appetizers we've shared here--the two taco plate was amazing and had me and my husband in heaven and was a great size to share, while the buffalo wings we ordered on a previous visit were a bit smaller but still so delicious. The buffalo chicken sandwich could have been a bit spicier but the buffalo sauce is super tasty and the blue cheese was spot-on. My tiniest complaint is that I wish the upcharge for blue cheese was slightly less and that a bit less of it was used on the sandwich (as it did somewhat overwhelm the flavor of the buffalo). It's really a minor complaint and I would still highly recommend the sandwich as well as Veggie Grill as a whole. My husband and I have been here twice and have not been disappointed yet, we will surely be back! :)

Yelp
Way to upgrade veggie grill! We've been to the Corte Madera CA location plenty of times. We liked it but didn't love it. However the menu upgrade that happened on Sept 1 is outstanding. We enjoyed much improved nachos, a delicious Rubin, and a very good burrito. The burrito cost less and with a little dousing of Cholula taste much better than many burritos around Boston. I simply can't believe how much this menu has improved and we've already gone there twice in the last week and a half. And it will become a regular thing for us. Typically going out for vegan food is a special treat because vegan food usually means lots of fat oil etc. But if you get the burrito and other good dishes you can do this in a very healthy way and a very delicious way. I want to thank Manny, Asti and the team there for creating a wonderful experience and very much appreciate their service and the atmosphere of the store. I highly recommend vegans and non-vegans Who have not been here since the menu change to give it another try. Because we hadn't planned to going back to you often even though we respect to the place, but with his menu changes we plan to go back a lot.
google avatar

Yelp
I hate to update this review so soon after posting it, but we've been back twice in the past 2 weeks and both times were total flops. I'm not sure what changed in the preparation, but the nachos had scant, cold toppings one of our visits and the other time the nacho chips were cold and soggy. Even the fries were limp. It was totally unlike our previous visits. I ordered the Greek salad and the lettuce was so old and limp with dressing. I couldn't even eat it. My boyfriend tried the Asian salad and it was 11 dollars for a sad salad bar looking bowl (pictured). So now my general consensus is that veggie grill can be really good, but it has the same quality control issues as on the west coast. We'll try it out again at some point, and hope that I can reupdate my review afterwards.

Yelp
Amazing and tasty food. The classic burger just awesome. Also love your fries!! Great job, guys!!! Will come back definitely!

Yelp
Favorite. Restaurant. Ever. Growing up in California, I had a Veggie Grill ten minutes away from my house but somehow it took me seventeen years before I stepped foot in one. And thank god I did, because I was quickly going back every week - it singlehandedly became the restaurant that helped me show that eating plant-based foods was not only a viable lifestyle, but something that could taste so damn good at the same time. So when I moved away to the Boston area for college in 2018, naturally, one of the first things I did was check for a Veggie Grill. I was disappointed to find that there weren't any East Coast locations open at the time, but after doing some digging, found that the first location was opening right here in Harvard Square! I was ecstatic to say the least. So you can imagine how high my expectations were going in before eating here my first time. And needless to say, it did not disappoint. Before I get into the individual menu reviews on the food, some general words of advice for those new to Veggie Grill. I would strongly recommend starting with the "fan favorites" (they're starred on the menu) as those rarely disappoint. I feel as though the seasonal menu items can be a lot more hit or miss, despite how good some of them may sound on paper. So without further adieu, these are my thoughts on the food. --Sandwiches-- Santa Fe Crispy Chickin' - (10/10) Classic sandwich - this has to be one of the all time great foods ever made to man. No exaggerations here. I've introduced my meat-eating friends to this sandwich and I've heard some people say it's better than Chik-fil-A. It's such a balanced sandwich, and I really enjoy it every time I have it. The seemingly simple combination of the chickin' patty, guac, onions/lettuce, and the whole wheat bun creates an experience far greater than the sum of its parts. Buffalo Bomber - (4/10) One of my favorites at other locations, so I was disappointed to find it lacking here. Bun wasn't toasted well and something about it tasted off. Beyond Burger 'Cheesesteak Sandwich' (seasonal item) - 6/10 Nothing wrong with this one, but it's just lacking a bit of oomph in my opinion. The one I had was a little under-seasoned, but even after adding salt myself I wasn't the biggest fan of this sandwich. Perhaps it's because I've never loved cheesesteaks even when I was still eating meat. --Burgers-- VG Beyond Burger - (6.5/10) My girlfriend got this one the second time we came here, and it was solid in my opinion. Tasted like a reasonably good burger, but nothing made it stand out from the fast food Beyond Burger's I've had (and this one's a bit more pricey) so that's why it gets this rating. If you're craving a burger, I've had much better experiences with the Super Rica Burger (probably like a 8/10) and the LUXE burger (also an 8/10). I haven't had them at this location though, so I'll refrain from saying too much about them. --Bowls-- Far East Bowl - (9.5/10) Okay, I must admit I've always been wary of the bowls at Veggie Grill, so this was my first time trying one. And holy bleep it was good. This was a really balanced bowl, flavors were subtle but powerful, and meshed really well together. The mint in here is an absolute delight and the sauce too is really light/delicious. Would strongly recommend. --Sides-- Crispy Cauliflower - (9.5/10) Soooo good. Ask for both of the sauces, and you can switch between buffalo and orange 'chicken' sauce. Really pleasantly surprised me, not too heavy of an appetizer but also greasy enough to make you feel good about yourself :) Fries - (5.5/10) To be totally honest, veggie grill fries have always been amongst my favorite fries at any restaurant that I've been to (I'm looking at you In-n-out). But the second time that I came to this location, I was pretty disappointed with the fries I received - they weren't as hot or as crispy as they should've been. I talked to the manager about it gave me a second batch. These were definitely much better (that's why I'm bumping these up to a 5.5) but still, something wasn't the same. Spicy Beef Barley Soup - (4/10) I struggle to enjoy the soups at Veggie Grill. This one tasted overwhelmingly of tomato sauce, and felt like it lacked a lot of other necessary seasonings. I've also had the lentil soup at other locations and wasn't super impressed by them. Alright that's it for my food item reviews. Before I sign out, I have to give a shoutout to the Veggie Grill staff, they are super warm and friendly. JR is one of my favorite guys at Veggie Grill (I've known him from my old home location in California!!) and I was really glad to see a familiar face here. Okay folks, I know that was a bit long but hopefully that helped encourage you to come try out Veggie Grill and better navigate the menu. I can't stress to you enough how much I love this place and really encourage you (whether you're plant-based or not) to come and try out their food. Enjoy!!

Yelp
The buffalo chickin' was incredible. Super crispy chicken with tangy buffalo sauce and picked onions on a very nice roll - not your standard flimsy burger bun. Everything held up well after a car ride home and was very filling. The fries were also great, crispy on the outside and soft inside without being too oily. They came with a chipotle aioli which was so good that I still can't believe it was vegan. The masala curry bowl however was extremely eh. It had good enough flavors but was more accurately just a veggie bowl. Looked nothing like the photo - maybe someone accidentally forgot the sauce today, because I am really not sure you could call this a curry. Overall, mixed feelings on this place, would definitely try it again but seems like we need to stick to the usual grill choices.

Yelp
I reallllly like this place and reallllly wish they'd open one in RI or even another in MA outside of the city. We drove an hour to get here and the food was amazing. We got the crispy green beans- those were good. The Mac and cheese, it lacked flavor but wasn't awful, just bland. The crispy cauliflower.. those were great/ flavorful and liked the orange dipping sauce. The Nashville chicken sandwich was great/ I ate the savory kale Cesar and found it to be the best salad I have ever had. The creamy dressing combo with the avocado was great. I would go here/ order from here ALL the time if it wasn't an hour away and incredibly hard to park etc. Hoping they open other ones! The other thing that I want to mention about this place is that I LOVE that you can order on a large touch pad. You select your item and can remove any thing it comes with if you don't like it! Like, the salad I got.. I don't like those fake bacons so I got it sans bacon. Makes it easy and fast to get exactly what you want.

Yelp
veggie grill has my whole heart!! the manager, manny, is an actual angel! he is so thoughtful and welcomed me into the restaurant right away. when i told him i was picking up an online order he went over and made sure it was almost ready and updated me with an ETA. the rest of the staff are equally as friendly and it really gives off a great atmosphere in the restaurant! and the food!! it's absolutely incredible! my new favorite is the double bbq mac burger! it's mouth watering! my family loved the moroccan lentil soup and nachos! i'm also obsessed with the mac n cheese and cauliflower! 10/10 reccomend! the menu is massive and everyone always has something new to try! it's also sooo affordable which is perfect for college students in the area! it's absolutely delicious and i can't recommend this enough! after 8 months in boston veggie grill is still a favorite of mine!

Yelp
3.5/5 I had the cheesesteak with beyond meat and my friend had the beyond burger. They were okay. I wasn't a huge fan of the fake cheese they used on mine and I felt like the baguette was too fluffy and moist for my taste. I would prefer a crunchier baguette. But my lentil soup that I got on the side was fantastic. It was quite creamy, thick, and had a little kick to it. I felt like the portion sizes were small for the price. I liked the overall vibe and it was well decorated. Next time I think I want to try a bowl.

Yelp
A treat for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. We ordered the beyond burger and cheesesteak -- both were tasty and filling. The cheesesteak bun was exceptionally soft and fresh, the grilled onions and peppers cooked just right, beyond meat was indistinguishable from beef, and it was generously covered in gooey cheese sauce. I enjoyed every bite. It came with a huge portion of fries, which were also exceptional. My partner opted for beef and barely soup as her side, which was super flavorful and great for dipping fries into. It's a little pricey, so it won't be on the regular rotation of week night meals. But I'm excited to go back with friend or whenever I'm feeling like a healthy food adventures.

Yelp
I'm updating my review due to the extremely poor experiences we have had for catering. When Veggie Grill first opened last year, we were offered a free catered lunch. What a deal! So, only a week after that deal was offered, decided to take them up on it. That was a bit of a mess- the communication on the free meal and pickup was a mess. We placed the order online, and when we arrived too pick it up, it wasn't ready. We got help, and ended up getting the food. Fast forward months later, and we decided to give the catering another shot. Our office manager placed the order IN PERSON at the location 4 business days ahead of time to be sure everything was all set, and gave the business card number for payment. I was sent to pick up the order.... only to be asked tons of questions. Did we order it with EZ Cater? I On the website? Phone? So, I ended up calling our office manager and she spoke directly to the manager on staff to sort it out, and our food was prepped and handed to us quite quickly- but sadly, it was half an hour later than our scheduled pick up time. Ever walk into a room full of starving coworkers who are now also half an hour late for a meeting? It's not the best. It's like a room full of wolves wearing business casual. We did get a comped kale Caesar for the trouble, and some $5 off cards (but the cards expire on Friday, so not really useful)! The food here IS great. We love it! We are just disappointed that not once, but twice, our catering orders were completely "lost in the system" and I doubt we will be able to confidently have office catered lunches from Veggie Grill again.

Yelp
Delicious and excellent addition to the area. Staff was so nice and we really enjoyed everything we had. Favorites were the Mac and cheese and the chick'n sandwich. Drinks were also super tasty. Parking is as expected for Harvard square.

Yelp
We stopped into this vegan chain while we were in California this June. In fact my daughter was lamenting she wished we had one in Massachusetts. Well, our wish was granted! They just opened a location in Harvard Square and we have been a few times and it is just as good as the California locations. I am a fan of the crispy cauliflower while my daughter is more into the Mac and Cheese. I recently had their carrot cake and while it is not as good as my favorite veg. place in Watertown, it is pretty close. We also like their app which have already paid out in rewards.

Yelp
Exciting spot with many good fast casual options made vegetarian. The meat substitutes are genuinely good, to the point where you are not sacrificing quality to enjoy the vegetarian element. It is still priced a bit above what the comparable real meat option would be, however. The ambiance is very casual and modern, with touch screen and online ordering options and a sleek interior design.

Yelp
Good food and people! I had the VG classic, it was well done. Also had some dessert. A nice place for a quick grab and go.
