I found Veggilish through Yelp, and while staying nearby for business I decided to try it out. The location is off of Seventh avenue and C street. The entrance is nice, you'll walk through the outdoor seating then enter the restaurant. They have some tables inside, social distanced, and a big board in which you pick your options. You start with a protein (tofu in my case) and add all the bases (quinoa and greens for me) then the veggies you want (I picked them all, no extra charge for adding all) and picked a dressing which was the chili garlic.
There are contactless payment options, Apple pay etc, however not truly contactless as you can add a tip on the ipad screen. I really wish programmers would figure out how to let you add a tip from Apple pay from your phone. Not having to touch a screen (During Covid) you have no idea who did before you.....I'll digress. Not a fault of this place, just a general gripe.
My food took a while. Longer then I thought. I took it to go, putting it in my bag (save the plastic bags people, it's not hard to plan ahead and bring a reusable bag) but once I set it in my bag and set off I felt it shift. The packaging is not that secure for takeout (add a rubber band around the to go container?) so I thought all the contents had spilled out. Fortunately they didn't, but the container had to be nursed to make sure nothing spilled out.
The meal itself was good, though surprisingly smaller than I expected. I ate it all, which was well balanced but was mostly small cubed veggies with some broccoli florets sprinkled in with a small amount of greens. However the sauce was delish.
I don't mean to put anyone off of Veggilish. It's good. But it can be better with more attention to detail. Yes, I'll be back.
