"Smaller than most spots in Little Portugal, Velho Portugal more than makes up for it in charm, from the brick walls to repurposed wine barrel furniture. Portion sizes are gigantic, and this is the place to bring a group of friends (book ahead), order a bunch of petiscos, and see where the night takes you. Of those petiscos, the enormous pile of clams in white wine sauce is superb, while juicy, plump prawns in a Dracula-repelling garlic sauce and grilled sardines are on point. Go for the francesinha too: Porto’s outlandish ham, sausage, steak, cheese, and fried egg sandwich doused in rich sauce. It’s heavy but delicious, and comes with excellent fries. Upon arrival at 9:30pm, I was informed that the restaurant was about to close because it is a slow night (mind you the closing time is 11 pm). That is understandable to some extend. However, I felt rush to finish my meal and go. The food was good. It is a nice and cozy place. Very intimate space so if you don’t like sitting close to strangers, this might not be the best spot for you. As someone who was visiting London and wanted to try a new place, the first experience and impression as a customer of that restaurant was not great

Had a very tasty lunch. Everything we have ordered was so delicious. We will definitely be back again soon. The service was great too. Very good Portuguese food, you know the food is authentic when you see the same nationality of people eating the food too.

It's hard to believe I've lived in London for almost 10 years and never discovered this place before. I am originally from Portugal, and I can assure you it's an authentic taste of traditional Portuguese cuisine. The staff is genuinely friendly, and the food is incredibly tasty! I felt so homesick that I took three soups to go. If you're craving Portuguese cuisine or longing for a taste of Portugal but can't make the trip, this spot offers generous servings at very reasonable prices.

Small, comfortable, Portuguese restaurant. About 18 covers. Popped in on the off chance on a Tuesday evening. Nicely busy but not too crowded. Good menu, nicely cooked and presented. Good value. We spent about £25-£30 per head for two generous courses, with sides and drinks. Could have spent less. Would happily return.

This small but amazing restaurant is really well located near Vauxhall and Nine Elms stations. It was the second time we went there and both times the food was amazing, unpretentious genuine Portuguese cuisine. Very well priced considering the high quality of the food and service and having hand cut chips and generous portions makes it all the more impressive, even my Greek friends were positively surprised. The lady remembered us from being there one month ago and she made us feel at home. I’m looking forward to our next visit and I highly recommend this restaurant.

It's hard to shine as a Portugese tapas restaurant in this part of town, but this small tapas bar definitely does what it can to shine. The best Portuguese Tapas I have had anywhere in London for a long time. Service is exceptional as is virtually all the food on offer in their menu. All the tapas are sensational, especially the garlic prawns and octopus. In addition to the fantastic tapas, the main courses have some very authentic looking skewered dishes that are worth a try. Highly recommended.
