Houston’s First Racing Simulator Lounge Velocity Opens in Sawyer Yards in December | Eater Houston

"Slated to be the city’s first-ever racing simulator lounge in Houston’s Sawyer Yards, this concept combines professional-grade sim racing with a full bar, kitchen, and other social entertainment to celebrate racing culture. Founded by Viet Tran after a motorcycling accident and inspired by his passion for racing, the lounge prioritizes realism and accessibility with 16 SIM-equipped simulators that offer 180-degree panoramic views, full-motion hardware and hydraulic-style controls, and a selection of cars from brands like Porsche and Lamborghini. Racers can take on famous circuits such as Austin’s Circuit of the Americas, Laguna Seca, and Silverstone, or opt for more leisurely routes like California’s Pacific Coast Highway; a partnership with Authentic Simulation will also provide a true-to-life virtual recreation of the 38-mile Interstate 610 with or without traffic. Beyond sim racing, the venue will feature a food and beverage program rooted in nations known for automotive or racing heritage (Japan, Italy, Germany, North America), drink flights honoring tracks and legends, pool tables, arcade games, a Lego car gallery, rare motorcycles on display, and racetrack-themed chandeliers—positioning itself as a hangout alternative to a typical sports bar. Just wow! This place is amazing! The atmosphere is great with multiple tvs on for racing and baseball. The bar is great and food looks delicious. Once you get to the simulator, ask for Mucha though. I saw him going above and beyond to help all the customers. He was fantastic. The simulators are Amazing! They make you feel like you’re in the race car. The pro and ultimate racing are very much worth their money! This is a great place to come and hang out with friends racing each other!

The bartenders and the other customer service reps were very kind and informed in their positions. The drinks were phenomenal. My brother raced on one of the simulators and really enjoyed the experience. He stated that he will have to come back to hang out. While we were there there were 2 parties getting started so they definitely can accommodate for a good sized bday party. Cool spot, with cool people, and excellent bartenders.

As a former driver in WKA, SCCA, and PCA—and a lifelong car and F1 enthusiast—I can confidently say that Velocity Sim Racing is simply incredible. The venue itself is a work of art, with immersive lighting shaped like iconic racetracks and a stunning layout of 16 fully linked racing rigs. It immediately pulls you into the experience. When it comes to sim racing, their three premium setup options are top-tier. I highly recommend the Pro setup—it offers an incredibly realistic driving feel without the motion sickness that sometimes comes with VR. I also tried the Ultimate rig, which was phenomenal, but as someone who's 6'7", the seat adjustments were a bit limited for me. Still, both rigs are expertly designed and seriously fun to drive. I especially love the special events they host, which bring the racing community together in a safe, competitive, and welcoming environment. It’s a great way to meet other motorsport lovers and scratch that racing itch. To top it off, the food is surprisingly good and reasonably priced, which makes it easy to stay for hours. I’m already planning to go at least once a month—it’s just that much fun. Velocity Sim Racing doesn’t just meet expectations—it feeds the need for speed!

While it took a minute for us to get our first round of drinks, we never had to ask for service the rest of the night. Staff was close by all night for each round of drinks and to answer any questions we had about racing or their menu. A friendly atmosphere for families and groups of friends and if you are a beginner to racing. Really enjoyed chatting with bartender Chris and his knowledge of mixology.

We booked a small corporate event after seeing a post of this place on Instagram. This place is awesome! Exceeded our expectations and we had a blast! Can’t wait to go back. The simulators are very impressive. Food and drinks were super good. Everyone was so nice. Be back soon!

Such an awesome place! Houston has been needing something like this! These guys did it right and created a great environment with high end rigs and a helpful staff. My bro and law and I raced each other on the Pro rigs and then he did the ultimate (seen here). All of the rigs are high end with obviously the ultimate living up to its name! Will be back to do it again. Staff was helpful with adjusting road feel and adding more torque to direct drive wheels (which felt awesome). Only critique would be better headphones and maybe some butt kickers and headphones or speakers for bystander to listen as well. Thanks guys and wish you the best!

I really enjoyed my first visit here. The experience was worth the price. My coworkers also can't stop talking about their experiences. I'm going to suggest a corporate event be held here for "team building" in the near future. I was able to do a standard race and the 610 loop. Both of which were satisfying. I highly recommend this experience for both professionals and casual drivers. Or, anyone that just wants to have a joyful outing.

This was FUN! We visited last week for date night and we had a great time. The sims were phenomenal, employees were super friendly, and the light bites we had afterwards were suprisingly good! We had the meatballs and the cheesy sliders, both were delicious. If you suffer from motion sickness like me, ask them to turn off the motion feature. It will make for a much better ride. We'll be back soon!

The place is cool but the concept just seems flawed. You should be able to buy blocks of time and be allowed to pick different cars, tracks, race lengths, etc. Instead I spent almost $150 for myself and 2 sons to all do a single 30min race in the Pro sims. It was just us 3 on the track in F1 cars. They didn't give us an option for some reason to choose our car type. We wanted to race the GT cars. We all pretty much spent the entire 30min racing by ourselves on the track and rarely saw each other except for the start. It would have been far more fun to be able to have multiple 10min races, similar to an arcade. Their whole concept doesn't lend itself to people wanting to hang out there, eat, drink and race. They have a nice bar and plenty of seating and the food is supposed to be good too. If it were set up more like Top Golf, I think it would be far more successful.

The food was amazing both times I went here and the bartender was a really nice chatty guy and really made the environment very pleasant and fun. The racing itself is the best it's actually realistic and have a variety of tracks and cars to choose from. Overall a very good seamless experience the staff are great and pleasant to talk to.
