The all-ages venue that kick-started careers for Imagine Dragons and Neon Trees is still the heart of Center Street shows. Spotlighted by Visit Utah and celebrated by KSL.com, Velour’s 2025 calendar stays packed with new-band showcases and album releases.

First time at the venue and we had a great time. $4 cover charge on non concert nights $3 for the artist playing. On concert nights looks like $10 not sure if is a band price or the venue price. Great open mics and some hot or misses on the artists but overall a great experience. It was one of those spur of the momment as we were just done eating nearby and saw the line of people. After asking what was the line for we were told live music say less we were in and will highly recommend this location. We were told this venue was the starting venue for the imagine dragons band pretty cool. Overall a great experience and will recommend to family and friends.

Google
Great venue. St. Patrock's Day was awesome. Cozy atmosphere and super talent. Had another great visit/event at Velour. The crowd was great and the music even better! Mortal American Body was incredible -- the should go somewhere!

Best place I've ever gone to to see some awesome local bands! The vibe was amazing, the bands were insane, and everyone was having a great time!

It was kind of a weird vibe. I was there to support a friend's band and it sounded amazing. Starting off with the good, the sound system and acoustics are great, the atmosphere is amazing. The staff on the other hand was pretty weird. We were quietly talking about the different parts of the songs and how we like them and the two different staff members would shush us. It happened a number of different times to different people, the funny thing is the shushing was like 5-10x louder than anyone talking. Was uncomfortable and quite annoying.

Google
It's a great venue, especially considering the lack of venues in Utah county. Is this the ONLY venue in Utah county? It has great vibes and great staff/team putting shows together. They seem really proactive in making everything run smoothly. This place is SMALL. Which adds to its character, but also limits capacity. With that, there is little to no seating except bleacher style seats on both sides of the venue. 5 stars for what it offers and the great behind the scenes staff. I really REALLY hated the smoke blower things at the stage. I'm not sure if it was for the performer or if the venue itself does that, but it was really irritating to me and unnecessary. I love live shows and live music, and for such a small venue, I find it to be overboard and literally painful. I've never seen that at the depot or any other smaller venue. TL;DR- good venue, get there early, little to no seats, stage smoke blower things are awful. 5/5 stars though!

Google
Great local venue that has helped a few big acts get off the ground. It's fairly small, but big enough to accommodate local bands. The sound quality is especially good, and the stage is unusually attractive with its lighting and decorations. The only downside is that the venue caters to a specific sound and does not branch out and explore different genres.

Went to hear No Such Animal. It was difficult to understand the lyrics because the band was soooo loud. This may be adjusted at the board. This was the case with the previous bands too. Very hot in there. Needs ventilation.

Google
Velour is a great bang for your buck! The Velour is a quaint little Provo music venue that smashes the value proposition. When I went, I saw 3 bands for only $10! So, if you're into the local music scene or you want to do something different for the weekend and just rock out, the Velour is a great the spot to go. There aren't a lot of seating options which might make it tough for a person that can't stand for long periods of time, but it's otherwise pretty friendly to most patrons. Went there this past weekend and took 3 of my kids, to see my nephew, who is, the lead singer of the band, "Rally" and although Velour is geared more towards college aged crowds, they fit right in and had a great time! A few people even brought very young kids and babies. All had ear protection since the place gets rocking pretty loud. If you love music, and especially if you're into small up and coming musicians trying to make it, in Utah county, you can't beat the Velour!

Yelp
My family and I saw "Lantern By Sea" a few weeks ago and the venue was just right! The lighting and tech for the band was amazing and really kept us going throughout the concert. Everyone was kind and considerate. 14 year-old friendly! Thanks for a great night!

Yelp
I've always loved the vibe of downtown Provo, which is an unpopular thing to say, since hating on Utah County is a beloved hobby of many Salt Lake County folks. However, I appreciate the uniqueness of the small businesses and the slower pace. Sure, I miss the occasional cocktail, but I also don't mind dry entertainment. Last night's adventure brought me to a live music event here at Velour. I did a little research ahead of time and learned that seating is extremely limited, as is the parking. So come early, in comfy shoes, and set your expectations accordingly. The ambience inside is sort of dark, moody and intimate. There's a dramatic feel to the place, without any (obvious) drama. Doors didn't open until 6:30, and there was a line along the sidewalk of folks waiting to get in. That added to the "big city" feel of the place, even for a not-so-big city. The acoustics were good, if not a tad loud. (Yup, I'm showing my age.) The lighting was colorful and energetic, not just a boring stagnant few slights. I would likely return to see a lively act that I'm really interested in-someone that I wouldn't mind standing in a crowd of people to watch.

Yelp
Best place to try out local bands in Utah Valley! Battle of the bands is really nice however, go to the website to check out what genres of music they are playing. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Awesome place! Really enjoyed visiting here on two occasions recently. The music is amazing and the place has this intentional retro eclectic vintage vibe going on that is just plain cool!

Yelp
The velour has some sort of ego problem. Don't get me wrong, it's a really hip and cool venue with awesome decoration. But they're so exclusive to the types of bands they want there. I get bugged with their service, up-tight attitude, and especially their poor sound mixing. Their employees are straight up rude and have no patience for any customers let alone the bands. Even when I tech for bands, gig myself, or help gig they're rude to the artist and their crew. I think it's an issue that bleeds now from management. As far as sound goes, it's a smaller venue so I get it's hard to balance the sound scape for everyone, but the mix is often muddy no matter where you stand. I'm a long time customer of them.. not by choice, I just like supporting local music and I have relationships with local bands. Whoever their old mixer was is actually awesome and the shows use to sound amazing! ..now whoever their mixers are needs to take it up a notch because for the last 5 years or so every show has been muddy. Either you can't hear the band member or I can't hear the voice inside my head that keeps telling me to stop supporting this place. It's a different sounding bad every time, sadly. Also they charge the bands for water!? That's who's bringing them money! If it's that much of an issue just install a drinking fountain, save plastic anyway. I've seen lots of cool bands there.. but there are cooler bands in salt lake and at other venues. The only way I ever go back is because of the bands they occasionally get. -Not a huge fan of the ego and stigma, not a huge fan of most of the bands they host, wish they would up their mixing game. Only go if you must see the band, but even then, drive a state away to see the next show at a more capable venue.

Yelp
Phenomenal venue, super cool owner & host of the Filmquest festival which is not to be missed!

Yelp
Neon Trees started here. Imagine Dragons, Aces got their start here. The club hosts an eclectic mix of bands, film screenings, etc. Truly cool vibe. owner is rad. Full on hidden gem in Provo

Yelp
The Velour is rad. I've been twice now and I think it's such an important space for the upcoming artists to allow expression and creativity. The space is awesome with seats on the sides. The lighting set up is colorful and fun. The sound is superb; the bands could be heard well. Some things that I think could be improved is the heat and ticketing. At concert settings, it's normal for things to get hot, but I wonder if there is something that can be done to make it cooler/colder. I arrived when tickets were sold out so I had to wait for people to leave. I waited outside. As people left, there wasn't a line to get in, so others that hadn't waited as long as I had got in faster than me. I think a line or waitlist system would be fair for those waiting outside. Great space!

Yelp
Velour is an all-ages music menu smack-dab in the middle of Provo. Catering mostly to the local music scene, Velour offers a safe, clean and comfortable place to hangout with friends and enjoy music. Since it is all-ages Velour does attract a younger crowd and since they don't serve alcohol, the patrons are generally well-behaved and seldom unruly. Apparently the owner takes music pretty seriously (friend of his told me so) and I think it shows since Velour is not only one of the best sounding small venues I've been to, it is also one of the nicest looking. The inside of Velour is creatively decorated, with cool stained glass looking windows behind the stage and good lighting throughout. If you're in the mood for some local music Velour is definitely worth visiting.

Yelp
This place has a very very special place in my heart. I used to play a lot of rock shows here in my band Rated Hero. I have been to many smaller venues through out the country and I love the vibe and feel of Velour. Cory Fox the owner can be a very quite individual and some may find that intimidating but if you get a chance to hang with him he is a very kind soul and loves music. He puts a lot on his shoulders to maintain a special place for the Utah Valley scene.

Yelp
I don't get down to Provo often (maybe 2 times in 5 years) but when I had an event to attend at Velour, I jumped at the chance to go sightseeing down there. Everyone at velour was SO nice. The owner was nice, the staff was nice. No douchey bouncers here ordering you around at all. The sound quality was great and I loved the decor of the place. Slightly religious, but not off-putting. I can't believe I had such a good time at a dry club.

Yelp
I went to the Book On Tape Worm concert last Saturday. All of the staff were incredibly rude. I hadn't purchased a ticket beforehand and they made me wait outside in the pouring rain for over an hour, only to tell me when I finally was invited inside that they only accepted cash. I had to fight with the woman at the register for almost 15 minutes. She told me that she "under no circumstances could let [me] in," and yet then she did. It made no sense. The man who was selling drinks gave us dirty looks the whole night and they both seemed very unhappy and rude. The music itself was awesome, but management is cantankerous and bizarrely anti-customer service. Such a weird experience.

Yelp
The only music venue where the employees will come and ask you to stop talking or you'll have to leave. This isn't the first and only time this has occurred (hopefully they get a clue and this is the last) but not worth your time if they really want you to treat it like a library.

Yelp
Velour will always have a special place in my heart. The atmosphere is one of a kind and Cory Fox doesn't stop at booking new, talented acts. His style is what brings the whole place together. Go check out a show!!

Yelp
I've a attended some concerts here. Decent venue, but they don't allow bands and groups outside of Utah to perform. When trying to book them, they said they were "for local bands only." Not a great business move, and disappointing for those trying to book and for the audience members as well. It doesn't allow for very diverse shows. They also never answered calls or emails and had to be contacted in person which is difficult since they are only open in the late evening.

Phillip P.

Yelp
It's a cool place, but the workers are just jerks. As soon as we walked in she snapped at us as we got money out to pay with cash, which was unexpected. I then asked if they had a house guitar (it was open mic night, so I was just making sure because I was on the list to play) and she made me feel dumb for even asking. It seems like a place like this, which is popular in Provo should be able to find decently patient people to be welcoming to guests.

Tessa B.

Yelp
Horrible experience. Even when the band asks to see their friends, they won't let you back stage for more than five minutes even if it's to say goodbye or help with gear, before kicking you out. The venue only comps one ticket per band member not including crew. So as a crew member and friend, who was required to purchase a ticket, I was forced to leave as to not inconvenience the venue, not the band. Not impressed.

Yelp
I love this place. What a diamond in the rough. The atmosphere has has been expertly crafted and It just feels great to hang out here. Really cool stage and great sound guys make playing here a pleasure. Corey Fox is becoming a nationally known taste-maker. What will be the next band with local ties to break out on the national scene? Chances are you'll see them at Velour first.

Yelp
Been here once, for Low. Tried to make Band of Annuals on an earlier date, but it was sold out. Loved this venue. It's good to have local music, and good to have a nice place where people aren't drunk. Mostly standing room, with a little seating along the sides. Nice people running it.

Yelp
The Velour is a great music venue who showcases top local talent as well as out of town talent. The Velour has provided a stepping stone for bands, singer/songwriters hosting rising stars such as Imagine Dragons, Neon Trees, etc. The place is also a popular place to enjoy on Open Mic night. Fabulous sound system and very affordable even for students.
google avatar

Jacob C.

Yelp
I went to their open mic night. So sick! If you like original songs and live music you should definitely go.
google avatar

Booker G.

Yelp
Was told to go there...it's a night club, with live music---but, no booze!?!? Its hipster central, its the only place in the world where the hipsters don't drink!?!?! They drink Sprite, Dr. Pepper & Mountain Dew?!? WTF, Only in Utah!
google avatar

Jon M.

Yelp
Great live local music, I love this place! I go there every Friday. If you go on Tuesdays for the open mic night, entrance fee is only 3 bucks.
google avatar

Keith T.

Yelp
I was just trying to enjoy some local music, but I didn't know that I would be discriminated for not buying in advance. The people were extremely rude. Great bands, shitty workers, but if you don't buy in advance, don't waste your time.
google avatar

Alex P.

Yelp
This place is awesome! I've been to a few open-mic nights on Tuesdays and it's a great setting for local acoustic musicians to play their songs. On other nights when live bands are playing, the place is sometimes packed and its a good concert experience. Unique art and decor on the inside. Check it out!

Austin O.

Yelp
great venue has helped many local artists grow including myself :-) would recommend to anyone trying to write music

Amanda Q.

Yelp
Did not have an enjoyable experience. The staff does not comp the way they should. They make make people feel like a nuisance rather then letting them enjoy the show they paid for. They really should reconsider how things are run.

S V.

Yelp
I was ok with them not accepting cards or even not having AC, but being told to shut up or be kicked out after paying for the ticket left a very bad taste in my mouth. The staff was rude, unhappy like they didn't want to be there, made fun of people/clients. They were treating us like we were children. Never again.

Jane S.

Yelp
It is an ok venue but you have to stand the whole time. When I went we had to stand outside in the winter cold for 45 minute. It started half an hour late. It was ridiculous. I ended up leaving early. I would never go there again.

Rebecca A.

Yelp
Venue looks like Fall Out Boys- Under the Cork Tree album which I like but, manager has poor customer service skills. Literally yelling, at artists in the entrance. Could hear her over the trap music played at "concert". So Unprofessional!!!! If that's how you treat your customers that speaks volumes.

S V.

Yelp
I have been there three times now. The first time I wrote it off as a fluke. The second, I thought, hey, maybe they were really busy and they were having a rough day or something. The third time, I decided, nope. The employee there that deal with the patrons have no people skills and are very rude. They do not know how to provide adequate customer service. And the venue is regularly late at starting shows. Last time I went, there were roughly 250 people (yes, I actually counted) standing outside in the cold (it was 21 degrees) over a half hour after the show was supposed to START. Wow. Granted, someone at Velour has either good connections and a good taste in music, or luck, or both to have come across some successful music artists, but as for the facilities and customer service, this place stinks. The atmosphere was kind of interesting, but the place is consistently lacking maintenance and presentation. I have been to house shows lived in and ran by college kids and teenagers that were more respectable and successful than this place. I know a lot of people really like Velour, but this has been my experience and my perspective. I hope they improve.
