We went on a Tuesday, so it was $10 per person over 2 years old. Wheelbarrows were available, but would recommend an all terrain wagon since it rained before we arrived. Emily ran the Admissions booth and she was a treat; I felt bad for her, because the hayride operator pulled up and disappeared, but the walk to the fields led to the corn maze, and the selection was crazy. There were pre placed pumpkins on clear ground, and others in the fields which seemed to go on forever (and were appropriately spooky). Smaller pumpkins and specialty pumpkins/gourds were available at the farm store. The grounds are well tended and fairly flat. My aunt has had three separate joint replacements and easily walked it with a walking stick. I was able to pull roughly 60lbs of pumpkin with one hand and occasionally carry a grumpy 30lb toddler who did her best to replicate a thrashing sturgeon, if it gives an idea of how easy it was to traverse. We weren't able to do any other activities because the small one Was Done, but I'll give it five stars when we come back on Friday if the hayride situation is resolved.

We visited Velvet Acres Gardens on a Friday, hoping to get cucumbers for pickling. We were told there wouldn’t be any picking until Tuesday, but that we could place an order and it would be ready that afternoon. I called on Tuesday to check the status of our order, but no one seemed to know what I was talking about. Later, a woman called me back, assured me she could take the order, and said she’d let me know when it was ready. I still haven’t heard anything since. The lack of follow-through and communication has been really disappointing and makes me question whether I’ll return to shop with Velvet Acres again.

Awesome farm! Tractor rides to the pumpkin patch 7 dollars a person gets you the ride plus pumpkin any size you carry, and corn maze. Lil petting zoo but perfect for little ones. Haystack climb. Great produce! Large and fresh. You pic of they have market. Been here 3 years in a row..love this place..never to crowded.

Google
They don't return phone calls or emails. They are not close in and it's disappointing to make the trip only to find out they don't have what you want or need. They don't keep the website current either.

Google
We really enjoyed our visit the staff was friendly and the pumpkins were huge... Only had 3 issues with the whole experience and they were minor. 1. Was confused on where to go and pay 2. Hand sanitizer was empty from petting the animals 3. Didn't know where to line up for the Hayride even the guy taking tickets said they should have a sign. Other then that we enjoyed all the festivities.

Google
I had an absolutely fantastic time visiting Velvet Acres pumpkin patch with my family! 🎃 The employees were not only kind but also incredibly considerate, making our trip even more enjoyable. The corn maze was a blast and provided just the right level of challenge. 🌽 The fields were brimming with an amazing selection of pumpkins to choose from, which made our pumpkin-picking adventure a delight. 🍁 Moreover, the farm had some adorable sweet animals, charming stores, and high-quality vendors to explore, adding to the overall experience. 🐔🛍️ Thank you, Velvet Acres, for making our day so memorable and fun! We can't wait to come back. 😊🌟

Google
Had to change my review after a rude experience. We've been in and out for the past year to buy produce from them regularly but I likely won't be back. I went back in September and was treated very rudely by the woman working at the cash register. I was buying some bottles of sauces and marinade and asked me why that was all I was buying. I explained I didn't need anything else and she kept asking me why I wouldn't even go look at the produce. After justifying it several times and being told she wasn't sure why I would stop in if I didn't want produce. I said my toddler that I was carrying was getting antsy and I'd really just like to make my purchase and leave. Very strange way to treat a customer.

Yelp
The employees at this location really are not interested in customer service during the fruit & veggies season of the year. I really will not waste my time to return. Won't recommend it to others either.

Yelp
Fun, affordable and a hidden gem. Loved it looking forward to going back this year. Animals were sweet too

Yelp
Check the weight and the price you paid. I paid $78 instead of $69 and they said they took away the weight of the box by 2 pounds. $9 is not a lot of money, or 6 pounds of tomatoes... that is dishonest.

Yelp
Great produce stand with wonderful veggies, fruit, eggs, honey and miscellaneous handmade items including soap, decorations, wind chimes, etc... depending on when you visit! I go here instead of the grocery store! Love it! they also have cucumber u-pick and sometimes other things depending on the year. Looking forward to pumpkins!

Yelp
Fun for the whole family. Hay rides, corn maze, hay pyramid, huge pumpkin patch, petting zoo, apple cannon, food trucks and farm store. We had a great time!

Samantha W.

Yelp
Such friendly helpful staff. We had such a good time at the Pumpkin patch that we came back the next week to pick some tomatoes while they were still available .

Yelp
My advice is to find another pumpkin patch to visit. The only thing nice here is the Animals. The staff are rude. Unaccomdating. Make remarks they shouldn't. It's best to visit somewhere else.

Ivan A.

Yelp
Horrible customer service. Way overpriced for wilted fruit. Plenty of better farms near by.

Yelp
Pumpkin picking is one of my favorite fall activities, and I've been to many different pumpkin patches and farms. This one fell short for me. First off, parking is messy. The aisles are wide enough for one car to go down, so if there is a car trying to go the opposite direction as you, good luck. Next is that how the u pick works is very confusing. I saw one sign that said admission is $7 and included a hay ride, a "Jack o lantern" (does that mean a pumpkin? Just say pumpkin...?) and some other stuff. Of all the places I've been pumpkin picking, I can't think of one that charged an admission price. Some charge for hay ride, and you pay for whatever pumpkins you take. But this setup was odd and poorly executed. After seeing that sign, there was no clear place to pay, or if you need tickets, or anyone checking that people paid. Besides the people driving the hayride, there was not a single employee out near the corn maze or pumpkin patch. There were many kids running and yelling through the maze. The corn maze took under 5 minutes to get through with no effort. The pumpkins available in the field were overall very poor looking and all seemed to have been picked and placed in the field. Needless to say, we weren't impressed. There are better places to pick pumpkins. Quick update: 12 days after we got our pumpkins and 2 out of the 3 are already rotting. See pictures. They have not been carved, cut, or punctured and there are large mushy spots forming. Changing review to 1 star. I wouldn't recommend wasting your money on their pumpkins.

Yelp
This place is incredible. It's worth going out there once a week and stocking up your produce. The quality and price beat the grocery. The owners and staff are so sweet and take so much pride in their farm. They also have free range eggs that are the BEST - bright orange yoke. My son had his 1st bday party here in August and they have an amazing barn for events. Crystal set it up and communicated well through the process. She is absolutely wonderful to work with. Finally, they have the most thoughtful and festive pumpkin patch during October. It's a must for any family even if you live in Portland. Go and support them!

Karen L.

Yelp
No pumpkins in the field and what was there was either rotten, green, or way too small to carve. Big disappointment and will never go back. Refund, please!

Jan Y.

Yelp
My family loves this place, it's been a tradition since we moved here from Beaverton 10 years ago!

Ana P.

Yelp
RUDE. RUDE. Never coming back again. My entire family and I would go to this place ALL the time for vegetables for the past few years. We loved it. It's my second time coming this summer and all I can say is, the service was TERRIBLE. I get the whole mask thing is coming back. But come on. It's 80degress outside and one particular staff member was rude about wearing a mask. I almost passed out a few times from the heat trying to pick out tomatoes! The market is OUTDOOR for crying out loud! This place used to be so family oriented. I would come just to be in the environment. Now. I felt disrespected. And watched the whole time making sure I wore my mask.

Yelp
7 dollars a person includes hay ride, pumpkin, and petting zoo, and what ever else they have going on. it's a great place to go and they have great pumpkins

Yelp
This is the second year we have been disappointed in the pumpkin selection at Velvet Acres. We went a little over a week before Halloween and all that was left was tiny, green, or rotten. We walked the whole patch to find our 4 pumpkins and settled for much smaller and greener than we've got in the past. We got home and two of them were completely rotten inside when we cut them open. I've never had to settle for such bad pumpkins, they should tell people when they are paying for the $10 hayride and pumpkin combo that there aren't many left, $40 for a hayride is just more than I would have paid for our family had I known there weren't pumpkins good enough to carve. Petting zoo at least was enjoyable for the kids and the corn maze was good but what's a pumpkin patch without pumpkins?

Maria B.

Yelp
To start off there were few signs for admission and it was very confusing where and how much. The parking was good. They had free face painting and a large amount of sweets for sell. The pumpkin patch itself was disappointing, they didn't cut down any weeds so we had to truck through the field to find any decent ones. We didn't have time to go through the corn maze but it looked nice.

Jenna B.

Yelp
My husband and I went here today and we loved our experience. We are wanted to find a good local pumpkin patch to visit that wasn't so over crowded. This was perfect! They have food carts if you want to grab a bite to eat. My husband ordered a fruit smoothie from one of the carts. We rode the hayride to the pumpkin patch where we found pumpkins and gourds. We also did the u-pick. I picked bell peppers, Anaheim peppers, jalapeño peppers, and tomatoes. I also picked up some spaghetti squash at the produce stand where you pay. This is our new favorite pumpkin patch! We will be back!

Yelp
This is a small pumpkin patch that has a cute outdoor market, small petting farm and hay maze in a covered barn. There is also a covered hay ride to the pumpkin patch, but it was not operating when we were there. As a result, we borrowed one of the wagons (they also have wheel barrows) and started hiking out to the patch. Now, of special note, they also have cows. We hiked past the cows on the way to the patch and while it was pretty darn cool, cows do smell like cows. Just FYI. They have 2 patches. One has smooth pumpkins and the other has warty pumpkins. The warty pumpkins are rock hard and not great for carving, but look pretty cool.. So, head to the smooth patch for a good carving pumpkin. Everyone was very friendly and it was cool to be at a working farm. We had a great experience and avoided all the crowds. Definitely the way to go for a more low-key pumpkin picking experience.

Yelp
A real authentic pumpkin patch experience. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We came here the weekend before Halloween to get our perfect last minute family pumpkin. It was a typical rainy, Washington day, but that didn't stop us. Many other families were there too, but it wasn't overly crowded. They had a little farmers market with eggplants, gourds, and other fall veggies. Tickets were $5 and that included a pumpkin of any size and a hay ride. There was animal petting for children and a play area set up in a barn with a bouncy house, face painting, and tall stacks of hay for children to climb on. All around a very family friendly and happy experience.

Yelp
A little bit farther out, but a beautiful drive! Definitely a true pumpkin patch with real farm feeling -- the smell of cow manure and rotting tomatoes fallen from the vine will remind you that it's definitely a running farm :) that's what makes for a great fall trip out to pick the perfect pumpkin though! $5/person admission is affordable and fair since you get a pumpkin of your choice out on patch, a hayride, and access to the hay bale maze. (They also have face painting on the weekend for kids.) much less busy than other pumpkin patches in the vancouver area and a great option for families with younger children.

Yelp
Great place to take young kids. We were in a group of 35 with kids 3-5yrs. old, it wasn't crowded and the kids had a great time. The only thing that would make it better is more animals in the petting area.
google avatar

Alice B.

Yelp
I have mixed feeling about this place.... I really like that is it a actual working farm, it is nice and small. When we came is wasn't to crowed. The staff was very friendly. They have a petting zoo, face painting, small variety of food available with tables to eat, a hay maze, 2 hay rides (one is open and the other is covered). They have a very large variety of fresh veggies that they grow there for good prices. The only thing that I didn't like is the pumpkin patch was very limited in their size of pumpkins, they were all very small in size and lots were very soft and crushed. I will be come back for the Produce - just not for the pumpkin patch.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Great value. My family and I had so much fun and amazing family photos from here. It's gorgeous. We got the most beautiful and delicious produce here as well as pumpkins from the patch. The staff was friendly and helpful. We spent hours here and will remember this place for future visits.

Yelp
Tried other pumpkin patches that were great yet we prefer a quieter experience. Will return here from now on. One low price for everything.

Aria S.

Yelp
Super nice owners. Many things to do. The negative comments I read beforehand said no signs but we saw quite a few and it was not hard to figure everything out. Had a great time. Kids 2 and under are free so that's really nice too.

Yelp
We have been buying our canning produce there for 3 years. This farm has really high quality, picked fresh daily as well as u-pick options as the season allows. They grow corn, pumpkins, peppers, green beans, beets, lettuce, broccoli, cucumbers, butternut, acorn, zucchini, summer squash. More than I can remember. All of it is the best. Local family giving jobs to local families, feeding their community with fresh healthy food. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Amazing,Fresh, Organic, Produce. I picked over 100 pounds of tomatoes and 50 pounds of peppers last weekend to make sauce. Best u-pick farm i have ever been to. I dont know how they do it, but they consistently have the best tomatoes and peppers I have ever had. And super affordable.

Colleen B.

Yelp
This is a nice farm with excellent produce. The pumpkin patch was very nice in October we went when the sun was out. Its an excellent place for the little kids to come and not fill so over whelmed. Staff very helpful and knowledgeable. Looking forward to those flower baskets coming up in May... and the salsa kits with fresh veggies in the summer.

Claire C.

Yelp
First time here. Definitely a fun time for a cheat admission. The pumpkin patch has beautiful pumpkins, was very satisfied with the pumpkin selection. Also there was a small hay maze for the little ones, face drawings, small farm animals petting station along with a small produce section.

M G.

Yelp
We went in 2014 and it was perfect, barely anyone there, found great pumpkins and then paid..... Went on a weekday and no hay rides but hey it was free:) this year same thing went on a weekday and low and behold five dollars a person, activities included a non existent hay ride since we were there on a weekday..... Cant we just pay for our pumpkins by weight then? So confusing and then we get told "well you can always go to safeway" ok lady with an attitude next year we wont help ur lil farm;(

Debbie S.

Yelp
The pumpkin patch was a lot of fun. The kids really loved it and we only had to drive 8 minutes to get a real pumpkin patch experience. We'll be back again for sure!

Tiffiney N.

Yelp
We found this pumpkin patch on a quick google search after being turned away at Bi-zi farms. It totally saved the day for my kids. They had a great time. The little petting area with feeders for the animals was great for my toddler and 4 year old. They really enjoyed the hay ride to pick out the pumpkins and the hay maze was fun. We had to use the light on our phone to navigate since the little ones were a little afraid of the dark. Overall it was a fun experience. We didn't feel rushed and the staff were very pleasant. Best of all we came home with a colorful bunch of pumpkins.

A B.

Yelp
This isn't quite the "event" that the larger pumpkin patch up north a bit is. They have a hayride that goes to the pumpkin patch but that's about it. They did away with the hay maze which my kids like and just have a hay pyramid. The workers themselves were great, but the pumpkins (at least at the end of the season) were all rotted out. It took some time to pick out the pumpkins only because I was having trouble finding any that looked half way decent and I thought would last the 7 days until Halloween. Honestly because of this I will probably just go buy the pumpkins at a store next year and take the kids out for some hot chocolate. To be fair the rotted pumpkins at the end of the season isn't just this farm. It was like that at Bi Zi farms too.
