Always a bustling lively place. A good place to hang out with friends. The margaritas are good, but strong. The food is very good. Everything on the menu is at least somewhat spicy tho. The next time im there i will be asking if there is a way to get a non spicy version of their food. i expect im in the minority here, but i think the chicken and waffle taco would be just a little better without being spicy. i really enjoy there weekend hours.

Google
Well this started out looking great. First bite of the beef taco was great and then boom allllllll fat. Seriously there was no meat just fat. Almost vomit. This place has the spicing down and it had the potential to me fabulous but man the fat. Also the hot sauce and margarita was sub par. However the fat killed it

Google
Tacos were great as always. We love the chicken tikka tacos, paneer and tofu tacos. They have introduced bowls which is great ! Ambience is nice. Also you have to pick your order yourself.

Google
Everything was hand made. The flavors really pop here! The staff was ultra-friendly, professional, and attentive. I had brisket and steak tacos in a combo that came with a side of fried rice, sauce, chips, and drink. Don’t skip the red velvet cake. I normally dislike red velvet cake, this red velvet cake was rich, flavorful, and so satisfying. Prices are very reasonable. It was busy at 5PM and the mildly loud chatter and atmosphere made it obvious that local folks love this place.

Google
here is what you need to know before coming to this location I now understand over the years the balance of the good and bad reviews for this location and how they differ and let me explain as I at one point thought I had left a review for this location but I'm now going to use this opportunity to redo a proper review up-to-date First off the restrooms are unlike anything you will ever see that you design is unique and different that they have a sink area through to the back that is all by itself it's own design and what you have is people from the kitchen constantly coming there to wash their hands as well as people coming in and out of the restrooms thus with only one trash can really hear from washing hands then I could tell at any point of time this area could get disgusting then you have like two stalls for on one side and two stalls for the other and they're not really a sign for men or women they're just again restroom stalls you open the door in a random close And keep in mind these location is open ridiculous late hours and long shifts so I could see how this area could end up getting neglected depending on especially if they are getting slammed or the employees are just wasted after a long day also I don't hold it against the manager who have had conversations with in the past and then came to realize oh wait a second there's rotating managers because this location has such ridiculous long hours especially on Thursday to 1:00 a.m. Friday and Saturday till 4:00 a.m. keep in mind they open between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. each day and although they don't do breakfast they have a large rotating staff quality control is going to just take a hit no matter how you do this to be able to handle the kind of volume this location gets so I commend them on when I arrived to my mom the place was spotless clean they were keeping up with the steady flow of traffic coming in and we were able to get our order fixed and let me explain I got an email promoting the $25 special so I downloaded the app and set it up and put in the order and paid an advance it would be ready for pickup from my mom and I to eat there but when I did substitution for what I thought was just a substitute to Pico corn when I didn't realize it was diet substituted the meat for roasted vegetables so when I handed back the order and showed how I ordered and have any meat on either bowl they helped me understand and go through the app and quickly just made a correction and added meat to both bowls at no additional cost again what I got was that the customer service here and a manager or not necessarily disconnected from customer service they're just exhausted and run long hours long work hours ridiculously long work hours and that would grind on just about any person that especially pending on how they're all just rotating different positions taking orders getting orders cutting corn cutting fresh corn again let me make note that you do fresh cut corn like they will constantly having somebody cutting the corn fresh off the cob that being said your mileage here is always going to vary as they have tacos of various flavors across the board but right now the best bang for the buck is their $25 special after 5:00 p.m. where you can get two balls chips your choice of queso or guacamole and by the way they served us generous portions of guacamole which I appreciated especially with how hard it is these days to find guacamole is not like two or $3 for small portions And of course with this place is famous for velvet cake a slice of velvet cake which was delicious didn't care for a caramel but I will definitely say I became a fan of their velveteen hot sauce now here's the next thing I'm going to want everyone here because they have a rotating staff is constantly exhausted burnt out worked hard rotated and long hours your mileage of regards to being able to ask anybody there at the front what comes in each thing is always going to vary keep in mind people that complain about the spices yeah both of their sauces are spicy so keep that in mind

Google
Unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience at Velvet Taco in the Domain. The food was very ordinary—nothing special or memorable. What really stood out, though, was how poorly maintained the dining area was. The tables were dirty, and no one seemed to be actively cleaning them. I had to ask twice before someone finally came over to wipe ours down. To make things worse, I noticed a hair inside the box of lemon slices, which is completely unacceptable from a hygiene standpoint. The tray they served our nachos on also looked like it hadn’t been properly cleaned. Definitely expected better standards of cleanliness and attention to detail, especially in such a busy area like the Domain.

Google
Oo la la, it’s our to go place. It has very limited vegetarian options, but they are amazing and delicious🤤🤤 95% of the times they make amazing tacos, there are maybe just 5% of the times wherein it’s not upto the mark. Hot Nashville Tofu taco & Beer Battered Taco is what we have

Anah Torkelson

Google
I had the shrimp taco and Quessa birria tacos with elite. The food was amazing. We ended up going back a second night and the quality was just as good! I gave service 4 star because the guy at the register was not very helpful or understanding of it being our first time in. I asked what the ranch water was, his reply "alcohol". I would still eat here again, but just Google questions you have about the food and drink ahead of time.
google avatar

Nick B.

Yelp
Three for lunch here and we tried 4 different tacos. All were very good, as was the margarita. Limited seating due to the weather but otherwise a great experience.

Yelp
This place is fine - nothing to complain about really but it's just ok. This is our 2nd time eating here. The tots with the egg were a disappointment because the egg was so overcooked (see pic) The tacos were tasty but they were not substantial. After eating 2 tacos each, the tots with egg, and guacamole and chips we were still hungry and got ice cream at Amy's around the corner (win for the kids!) I think I prefer the flavor of Torchy's but Velvet has some unique options so you should try for yourself. Please view my photos and if you find them or my reviews helpful - like them!
google avatar

Alexandra K.

Yelp
I'm going to say something that is potentially controversial...Velvet Taco is better than Torchy's. There. I said it. My husband knows how much I love Austin, and so he sent me to visit a friend for a weekend away. Our first stop was Torchy's, which was great, but then on day two, we stumbled to Velvet Taco, which was close to my hotel. The vegetarian options alone were far superior to Torchy's, and the combos available all day made it a little cheaper (though neither place will break the bank). The ambiance is standard for Austin and fast-casual establishments; bar-height stools and tall tables surround an open-format kitchen. I had the Nashville Hot Tofu taco and the paneer taco. Both were incredible. As another reviewer said, the tacos are so intentional - the flavors just worked so well. Honestly, I could have had this for every meal in Austin and been totally content.
google avatar

Ami V.

Yelp
So we got the beer battered cauliflower and Nashville hot tofu for the tacos. Also got the queso. Everything was great, personally I liked the cauliflower one over the tofu but overall both were good. They were quite busy when I went but service only took as long as us getting our drinks and finding a table. Clean inside and good vibes and good food all around
google avatar

Trevor T.

Yelp
Friendly staff and food came out fast. We had their Paloma to drink which was just ok. For tacos we had.. * the Cuban Pig (good) * beer battered cauliflower (ok--have had better cauliflower tacos elsewhere) * mexi-cali shrimp (good, great flavor on the grilled shrimp) * slow roasted angus brisket (excellent--fantastic flavor and texture on the brisket) * chimichurri steak (good, better than we expected) * grilled salmon (not good, didn't finish it: too much mayo and the fish was lost in a lot other bland flavors. on its own the salmon was pretty decent) * korean fried rice (excellent!) This location is right across from Wonderbar and other places with loud music so avoid sitting outside if clashing music annoys you. We'd come back to try some of the limited time specials.

Yelp
They do have good tacos! I met a new friend there for dinner last eve. The tacos are filling and fresh. I enjoyed my pork taco. I was surprised about the ranch water in a Topo Chico bottle directly but it was a fun new way to have a ranch water. My friend seemed to enjoy his tacos. He ordered the red velvet cake for dessert because he said it was amazing the last time he was there but we both tried it and agreed it was not so good this time and ended up throwing more than 3/4 of it away. He prob should have asked for a refund or replacement. We sat outside, which was nice except for the flies. Inside area was cooler but also looked like they needed someone to come pick up and wipe down a bit more.

Yelp
Velvet Taco is a great spot to grab a quick bite. The staff is friendly. The person even gave me a water cup and I didn't even ask. That was so kind. The place is inviting with indoor and outdoor seating and kept up pretty well. You do have to wait for a moment to get your food, but it's understandable if you want fresh food and they have several orders. Has a close by parking garage so you can eat, shop, have dessert...so many options in this area! The brisket nachos are bursting with flavor with a tiny kick. Can feel a bit on the salty side, but regardless, the nachos are amazing!! Check it out! Esp if you love blue corn!

Yelp
Velvet Taco on Rock Rose Avenue in Austin, TX offers a unique take on Tex-Mex cuisine, with a focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients and creative flavor combinations. I tried their 3 Taco Combo and was impressed by the innovative and delicious flavors. Overall, I highly recommend Velvet Taco for anyone looking for a delicious and unique Tex-Mex experience in Austin. If you're in the area, be sure to check it out! Bonus: Rock Rose Avenue itself is a vibrant and exciting place to be! It's home to a variety of shops, restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues.

Yelp
My go to taco place! Lots of fun options for tacos to get, my personal favorites are the birria duo and the slow roasted angus brisket. Other must tries are the queso blanco and the sangria swirl. They are always quick to get your order ready and any time I've had an issue with my order they promptly fix it! It can definitely get busy inside and sometimes a little loud, but they also have outdoor seating that is great when the weather is nice! If you're looking to grab a quick bite to eat, I would highly recommend velvet taco! Especially great when you're with a group as they have so many options that surely everyone will find a taco they love!
google avatar

Yelp
The staff at this location were very friendly and helped me pick out a couple tasty tacos. I appreciated the fact that the menu had full ingredients for each taco and calorie totals so you know what you're getting yourself into before you buy. Nice patio that's perfect on a fall day when it's not too hot.
google avatar

Candace S.

Yelp
I went to Velvet Taco with a friend for lunch and it was so delicious! I had the two tacos and side combo and it was plenty of food for two meals. I had their Thai base taco and steak taco which was full of flavor. I also got chips and guac, which was pretty decent overall, but I would've loved a little extra flavor with the guacamole.
google avatar

Celine C.

Yelp
Velvet Taco is conveniently located inside the Domain. The restaurant has a large outdoor patio so we were able to bring the dogs. Standard service. Menu is confusing. Not sure why the item numbers were not listed in numerical order. Some items were not even natural numbers because they had decimals (#3.5, #14.5). We spent more time discussing that than the actual menu and that's all I remembered... Food is pretty mediocre. + Chips and guac 3/5: Blue corn chip tortillas that taste very similar to the ones from Tostitos or 365 (Whole Foods). Guac looked green and fresh, but had very limited flavor profile. Even our homemade guac tasted better lol. + Mexi-Cali shrimp taco 3/5: Meh, didn't feel like a cohesive taco. Felt like ingredients were thrown together without much thought.

Yelp
I was so hungry I didn't get a picture! Came here after a happy hour. It got the nachos I got my husband cauliflower tacos on corn mean tortilla and made it vegan. Also got a side of guacamole for him. We were both super hungry and the food didn't stand a chance lol. We have a Velvet Taco in Nashville but I still haven't gone. I will visit soon. My nachos were delicious and added both hot sauces to it. I love spicy but they were both flavorful and it didn't have too much heat. The service was great. The guy that took my order helped me to ensure my husband's order was completely vegan and that he had enough. Totally recommend everyone to check this place out!!
google avatar

Sam K.

Yelp
Are these my favorite tacos ever? No...but what Velvet Taco does is some pretty creative flavor profile combos that actually work. I tried the Spicy Tikka tacos (wasn't spicy imo but the chicken tikka masala flavors and rice were surprisingly good in taco form - only complaint is that the sauce was pretty cold, and would have preferred it warmer), Grilled Steak taco (the queso blanco and grilled onion really helped elevate the taco, and the steak was tender) and the Crisp Tots & Egg (would have preferred the tater tots have a bit more salt but the egg was cooked perfectly and helped fill me up after having the two previous tacos. Also loved the goat cheese addition) While a bit pricey for the size of taco you get (most are over $4.50 each), I ended up feeling surprisingly full with the three items I got for dinner. The ordering process is a bit confusing/cumbersome in my opinion since they called out my taco orders separately and had to make my way to the pickup area twice when I would have preferred to get them all at once (no table service). My friend who is vegetarian had a great selection of options, which is always a good thing to have accommodated! Employees seem pretty friendly and only real gripe is how loud the music is (at least on the patio). Will be back to try some more flavor combos!
google avatar

Netra B.

Yelp
Most flavorful tacos!!!! Ordered a takeout, to my surprise my tacos were not soggy at all. The packaging was really good, had a solid partition for each taco. Service was really good. Must try here: Beer battered cauliflower taco Spicy tikka Chicken taco (substitute chicken with Paneer since I'm a vegetarian) Fried Paneer taco All are amazing options are just yum!! Plenty of options for vegetarians
google avatar

Yelp
Wish I had a velvet taco near me...I need more tacos in my life. I was super hungry after a day of travel and went for a total of 4 tacos...which definitely topped the scales (but I rose to the occasion). These were well-stuffed good sized tacos. I had cauliflower, chicken, salmon and shrimp tacos-all of which I enjoyed thoroughly. I stuck with iced tea for my beverage, but adult drinks are readily available. I'll admit that I eyeballed a margarita.... The music was loud and the place had a family friendly party vibe. The kid at the counter was great...turns out he was a relocated New Yorker. Nice people, good tacos, fast service.

Edgar P.

Yelp
Vegetarian options galore! We tried all four vegetarian tacos, and they were fantastic overall. While the Mediterranean Mushroom Taco was good (not our favorite), the Nashville Hot Tofu, Fried Paneer, and Beer-Battered Cauliflower Tacos were delicious. Modern Market Eatery - Frost Tower I'll admit, the photos on Google didn't initially grab my attention, but I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious my Buddha Bowl turned out to be--it was absolutely flavorful! I would highly recommend giving this place a try. One thing to note is that their menu is incredibly extensive. While some might appreciate having so many options, I found it a bit overwhelming when I was really hungry. Overall, a great spot for a tasty and satisfying meal!
google avatar

Kerra S.

Yelp
I guess I'm just very... underwhelmed? The best thing about this place was location and atmosphere. It's in a prime location right in the domain, and the store had a very chill/relaxed vibe to it. Now the food, eh.. I ordered 3 tacos ($5.25-5.75 each), elote and chips ($6), and brisket nachos ($7). The tacos were decent but small. The elote was pretty flavorless and I would not order it again. Nachos were ok, but mainly chips. In no way was this a "bad" experience, but I expected a lot more based on the reviews & price of the food.
google avatar

Richard E.

Yelp
Velvet Taco...the taco's are unique and well thought out. Very tasty. We ordered the Slow Roasted Angus Brisket and the Queso Burrio Duo. The Angus was OUTSTANDING. Wish I had ordered two of those. The Queso Burrio Duo was good, although greasier than the brisket, and a little lackluster - but good. We also ordered the large Margarita on the rocks, requested sugar and salt on the rim which they accommodated. My buddy I was with has had these before and said "something's wrong, these taste watered down". At $14.99/ea, ok let's see. Manager was very nice. Went over and had a taste out of the margarita machine and said "oh yeah those are not right at all"...after refueling the machine, he personally brought us replacements and they were outstanding. The service at the counter was fine and efficient, albeit slow because the line was long and there was only one person. The line can often run to the door. There are a few intimate and small tables, but they also have long tables with stools for multiple parties to sit. So if you don't mind sharing a table, this is fine. The interior was clean for how busy it was. For a unique taco experience, I think Velvet Taco did just fine. Hit it up!
google avatar

Ly N.

Yelp
I come here for the red velvet cake, not the tacos. The cake is very moist and has this amazing cream cheese frosting. I can't believe the cake is vegan! The only thing that would make it better is if it was less sweet. The tacos are okay. The tacos are very fusion and have lots of different interesting components. There are lots of options for tacos and plenty of seating everywhere
google avatar

Shruti P.

Yelp
Oh my goodness! The tacos!!!!!!!! This is my new favorite taco spot. Loved every bite of my tacos to the point that I repeated my order (and prolly over ate but not regrets ). Even on a busy evening, order came out pretty quickly. Staff were friendly. Shoutout to whoever announces the name for order pickup- thank you for pronouncing my name so accurately. Paneer and spicy tikka chicken are a must try. Be ready to stand in a queue. This place is busy - for a good reason. Given the location, finding street parking right in front of the restaurant will need some good luck. But multiple garages are quite close by.
google avatar

Colin T.

Yelp
Holy shit, these little tacos are not only basically gourmet indulgences. They are packed with so much protein that one or two fills me up. My favorites have been the buffalo chick and slow roasted angus beef
google avatar

Bryan W.

Yelp
Velvet taco sits right across from Red Garage at the Domain and has some great tacos and margs. There's a good variety of tacos, from lettuce wraps to bbq to Asian-influenced. Velvet taco won't miss in terms of flavor. I only took off one star because the prices are a bit bonkers and they just keep going up. Last time I went I got one (1) of the weekly tacos for $7 after tax. I would probably need 3 tacos to be full, so that ends up being quite a pricey meal for me. Otherwise, there's usually ample seating, the lines aren't too long, and they're open late.
google avatar

Pardis S.

Yelp
Good tacos, good vibes! Velvet taco has never been a miss. From ordering and getting food on the table quickly, to the harmonic flavors of unique tacos, to their amazing queso and strong margaritas, velvet taco simply does not disappoint. The location of this restaurant is great, right on the strip of all of the stores in the domain, it is a nice place to grab a quick bite in between a fun shopping spree! Tip: get the margarita, it is very strong, but beware because one might be plenty. Pictured is a chicken and waffles taco and a picnic taco. Both are a great go-to!
google avatar

El b.

Yelp
Went through the drive thru and it went really well. Didn't have to wait and food was brought out hot and fresh. This was a nice change from Torchys and will definitely go back to try some other items. The smash burger was like a Big Mac as a taco, the bacon was a little salty so I'll pass on that next time. The picnic taco was unique and would definitely try it again.
google avatar

Alyssa C.

Yelp
A MUST for late night pick me up. First time trying this place and the ambiance was great at night, bustling with crowds and despite the amount of people, the wait time wasn't very long. What I ordered: 8. Korean Fried Rice 12. Slow Roasted Angus Brisket 15. Grilled Salmon Chips + Guac (A PERSONAL MUST) just classic goodness. All solid tacos and decently sized. I was honestly so surprised by the FLAVORRR. So yummy and filled with so many goodies that all work so well together. The only downside is the flour tortilla being a bit weak. If it was crunchy or if there was an option to make it crusty it'll just be that much more delicious!
google avatar

Karla F.

Yelp
Never had a bad taco here! This visit I got the WTF, the fried green tomatoe and shrimp taco wow! I wish this was permanent! Soooo good. My go to is always the Baja fried shrimp taco. I also got the loaded tots which were very savory and nice for a brunch situation, but I probably wouldn't get these again because they felt very heavy. Overall, we always like coming here and sitting outside on the nice patio watching the shoppers go by. It's a great stop in between shopping. The staff is friendly and service is quick. You really can't go wrong!
google avatar

Euni B.

Yelp
Today I tried Picnic chicken, Mediterranean mushroom, and chimichurri steak tacos. Mediterranean mushroom was my favorite. Not sure if they're supposed to be cold tacos but they were all cold. Good flavors in the tacos and each had a crunch factor as well. The steak taco was my least favorite. Felt like less flavorful than the others. Cashier was very friendly but her English was not very good. The place had large wooden shareable tables which I loved and a nice patio vibe. Want to try more flavors!
google avatar

Tracey Z.

Yelp
Very busy popping place to go. Lots of fun takes on tacos. I tried the Beer Battered Cauliflower and Paneer Taco. Both were ones that I have never heard of before. Loved the paneer taco. Good place to go with friends.
google avatar

Malek F.

Yelp
Velvet Taco offers creative, flavorful tacos that go beyond the ordinary, blending unique global ingredients with fresh, high-quality flavors. The menu is innovative, and the atmosphere is fun and vibrant. With friendly service and standout items like their Grilled Salmon and elote corn, it's a must-visit for taco lovers looking for something special.
google avatar

Brianna W.

Yelp
Great tacos and margs! Had the Kobe Smashburger & Rotisserie chicken & the Cuban. The first two were both good. Loved the Kobe the most! Tried 2 quesos (forget the names) but one with corn and one that had a little spice. And of course a grand kick a** margarita! Great time and place, more outdoor seating than indoor at the domain location. Service was fast!
google avatar

Bhagyashree B.

Yelp
A favorite taco joint of ours for several years! You can never go wrong with Velvet Tacos. So many delicious portions to choose from.. my absolute favorites are the paneer and hot tofu tacos. Yummylicious :) This location has a small indoor seating area and larger patio seating.
google avatar

Jazzmina B.

Yelp
The first taco I had was good but the second one had hair in it. One of the workers looked at me crazy when I showed him the plate. Manger didn't offer a discount nor refund, just a new taco. At that point I wasn't interested in another taco.
google avatar

Dhilip R.

Yelp
I've had Velvet taco, almost ten years ago in Chicago downtown and now I'm having it today in Texas , Domain. Nothing has changed! Being a vegetarian and an Indian, the paneer tikka taco comes handy! It's an authentic Indian paneer tikka inside a Mexican taco. Who would have wondered such a gastronomy would become mainstream? Kudos to the team. Love their margaritas too!
google avatar

Vineet C.

Yelp
Sooooo happy that this location is finally open! I really enjoy velvet taco and it's great that the closest one to me is not the domain anymore. This location is easy to get too and has plenty of parking. My go to favorites are the chicken and waffles, chicken tikka, and shrimp&grits. For vegetarians, the nashville hot tofu and fried paneer are pretty yummy too! I've gotten takeaway from here twice now and it's always ready when I arrive. Pretty simple to pick up too and I haven't had to wait at all to get the staff attention.
google avatar

Neha G.

Yelp
Tried few more vegeterian options recently. Fried Paneer was good but I guess that particular order got little soggy. Mediterrian mushroom is actually very good (wasn't hoping much) and perfect choice if you are not in mood of eating fried items. Nashville hot tofu definitely remains the best with crunchy tofu taste, I actually like it better than paneer. Beer Battered cauliflower: very flavorful 2 Tacos are good for one person. As usual, ELOTE GUAC remains showstopper. This is MUST try item. Perfect blind of tangy corn and guac. I've only been to their domain location and always found the patio full of people (working days/weekend).
google avatar

Scott T.

Yelp
I was really surprised at how flavorful the tacos were. It's a little bit pricey, but I guess it kind of makes sense because of how big the tacos were, they weren't the normal tiny sized tacos which was a pleasant surprise. Three could definitely fill you up, but I don't think that two would be enough, especially to fill me up. I ended up getting the brisket, fish and chips, and the paneer taco. It had a lot of different flavors and I really appreciate the variety that they had! It was a nice cute place for a quick bite to eat, they had a nice outdoor seating where you clean up after yourself and allowed to have good conversation while eating in their area. I wouldn't say the services anything exceptional, I almost felt like I was being a burden when I was asking for an extra plate. All in all, I would definitely come again for a solid taco!
google avatar

Kristina R.

Yelp
My office will often get catering from Velvet Taco, since we're right across the way from The Domain. I've had my share of what they have to offer, so I can confidently say that while I appreciate the variety of flavors and representation of different cultures, I find their menu to be too gimmicky and reliant on extra heavy sauces and saltiness rather than quality ingredients or authentic flavor. The only exception would be their #12 Slow-roasted Angus Brisket because its cheese encrusted tortilla instantly makes this taco superior and the ratio of meat to toppings makes it simultaneously savory, fresh, and oh-so-delicious.
google avatar

Craig P.

Yelp
The tacos I tried were decent but didn't blow me away. There were plenty of options on the menu, which is always a plus, but the flavors felt a bit underwhelming. The tortillas were soft, but the fillings lacked that punch of spice or freshness you hope for in a good taco. If you're looking for variety, you'll find it here, from traditional meats to vegetarian choices, but I wouldn't say any of the options stood out. Overall, it's an okay spot if you're craving tacos, but don't expect anything extraordinary.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised when we ate here. The flavors were amazing. I was a little hesitant bc we were looking for traditional tacos and I'm skeptical when folks create these unique flavors. all the tacos were AH MAZING! We also added the dip trio. I was thoroughly impressed and was itching to return during our entire visit. The staff were super helpful and friendly. They were accommodating and attentive. I'll definitely come back and try their other tacos

Yelp
In town for business and on the first day, was looking for a quick bite to eat for lunch and came across Velvet Tacos. The spot has the coolest and chill vibe to it. The cashier and servers were welcoming and friendly. Did not hesitate to explain their menu and elected to order a few of the tacos with a couple of cocktails. Didnt wait long to be served. The place is clean with cute decors. Relaxing ambiance and it feels fun. The tacos were made fresh and surprisingly really good. The cocktails aren't too bad either. Overall it was satisfying and for sure I'll come back for more next time.

Yelp
I waited 20 minutes over my expected pick up time for my order however the second time i told the employee my name the food had been sitting there all along..Food was cold as I ate my first taco in the car because I was starving. Purchased the tots w/ a fried egg and specifically asked for no bacon as we do not eat pork. The tots had bacon all over them, I double check my order after noticing the bacon and it 100% said no bacon on the receipt. The cauliflower taco was good, but again it was cold. The shrimp taco tasted like the shrimp had been sitting out for hours. Over all wouldn't recommend the rock rose location, I previously had the location in down town austin and I don't recall having 1 bad /miss cooked item.

Yelp
Was surprised at how good this was. The food was extremely delicious and I can't wait to go back and try something new. Totally awesome atmosphere right in the domain. Service seemed to be good, food came out fairly quick. Would highly recommend giving this place a try.

Yelp
Great late night spot to get a scrumptious taco. They have every meat or non-meat selection you can think of and even have a korean fried rice version of taco. I had the chicken tikka masala taco, mexicali shrimp taco. and fried rice taco. Out of the 3 that I tried, the Mexicali Shrimp was by far the best. My tacos came out so fast after my order, they have a quick assembly line similar to an in and out but instead of burgers it's tacos of course.

Yelp
I got the Rotisserie Chicken taco w/ pickled onion. I really appreciated that they didn't charge extra for the pickled onion. Taco was good and not heavy. Super friendly and fun vibe.

Yelp
Great location, vibrant interior, and creative food & drinks make this a very happening spot. The frozen drinks on a hot day are just the ticket. We stopped in recently for a drink and a snack. The service was friendly and efficient, and the quality of the food was solid. This is a great spot to stop when in the Domain.

Yelp
A cute spot to grab unique and delicious tacos with friends and family! This spot is located on a street in the Domain but there is a parking garage super close by so getting there is no problem! You place an order with the cashier and they call your name in a few minutes to pick up your tacos! We ordered the picnic chicken, angus beef, grilled salmon, and chicken tikka tacos! The picnic chicken is still my favorite, they include the crispy chicken skin and cubed potatos, which gives a nice mix of textures. They also drizzle some avocado sauce on top which brings the whole taco together! The angus beef taco is also one of our favorites, the heaviness of the meat and the lightness of the corn salsa on top makes the taco super enjoyable! They also crust the taco with cheese which makes it super crunchy! The tikka chicken has the right amount of spice, and the salmon was super refreshing! Each taco was around $6, which is definitely on the pricier side, but it's a great place to hang out and eat at the Domain!

Yelp
I'm surprised I haven't reviewed velvet tacos yet. I have been here countless times and I love it every time. You can never go wrong in picking this spot for the drunchies or just a casual meal. Yes, it is more gourmet tacos than traditional tacos. They do a lot of fusion style tacos.. may it be Indian style, Korean style or American style. But it always hit the spot with the flavor. They have vegetarian options as well and my go to is usually chicken tikka masala taco and fried panner taco. I have tried pretty much everything on their menu and it's all so good.. Queso is a hit as well. Definitely a customer for life.
